I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience. I brought several dress shirts to be altered and took the time to clearly explain exactly what I wanted. The gentleman who assisted me listened to my request, made his own recommendations, and I trusted his experience. We agreed on the alterations before the work began. When I finally received my shirts, I was excited to see the results. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The sleeves were shortened far more than we discussed. Now, when I wear the shirts, the sleeves fit very awkwardly and look oversized around the upper arm, making the shirts look poorly tailored instead of professionally altered. The workmanship is simply not what I expected. I also brought in a pair of pants to have some metal snaps removed because they were rubbing against my leg and causing discomfort. I was told the snaps could be removed and the area would be sewn so it would no longer bother me. Instead, the snap is still exposed and continues to rub against my leg, leaving me with the exact same problem I was trying to fix. What makes this even more frustrating is that I paid nearly $300 for these alterations. For that price, I expected quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. Instead, I ended up with shirts I can no longer wear comfortably and pants that were not repaired as requested. The person I spoke with seemed very experienced, but based on the results, it feels like there was a breakdown in communication or someone else performed the work without fully understanding the instructions. My long time tailor retired so I tried Kyle. At first I thought he was just quirky and eccentric insisting that I not move my arms while or after he pinned. Of course it looked great if I didn't move. I could not see the pins in the back. Usually I like to move my shoulders and reach to test tightness in the back. I figured he knew what he was doing. They ended up too tight during normal arm movement so very uncomfortable and looked too small from the back. I will probably never wear them. Also, one shirt did not have darts/seams in back and was supposed to hang naturally from one pleat. He added seams so now the pleat is stretched and the back doesn't hang naturally. Not as crucial but noteworthy is that he charged me 30 for each which was a little more than previous tailor but I'll pay more for good work. When I picked up he informed me that the $30 had been for new customers and now would be $40 in future. Three shirts are now useless to me. read more

I had a shadbelly horse show tail coat that was very high quality that I absolutely love, however, it was a little outdated. It had buttons on the inside which gave it a puckered look and made it difficult for me to put on while I was on top of my horse after warming up before going into the show arena. I showed Kyle a picture of what I wanted him to do from an example I found online and he was able to execute it exactly to update it. This involved taking out the old buttons and adding a zipper inside instead (which was black so it blended in with the color of my coat). His work is seamless and you cannot even tell where the old buttons were. It looks absolutely perfect and it is so much easier to put on and lays flat now. I might have given this place my business had the man not been so f****** RUDE. Never in my life have I experienced such terrible customer service. I called first to get an estimate for a hem for a pair of pants and he rushed me off the phone and just said his work is done by the labor and to come in in person so I came in and he was very rude. I went in the fitting room. Tried on the pants and he proceeded to tell me that it would be $45 for original hem and then for a dress to do a hem that was like a little bit wider, It would've been $65. After telling me the price, he proceeded to say "this is professional work. I do professional work," as if I didn't think the work was professional or something. It was so weird like who says that? Regardless, the price was more than the items cost that I wanted hemmed... the pants were from freaking target and the dress was 14.99 from TJ max. NEVER AGAIN! Kyle is NOT the excellent tailor he used to be! Rudeness and poor workmanship have become his specialty. - He promised on a Wednesday to have my lady's soft-fabric slacks shortened and ready by 12:00 on Friday. - On Friday at 12:45 he had not yet shortened the slacks. He told me (and a woman in the fitting room) to wait a few minutes. - 15 minutes later, he handed me the slacks to try on. One leg was longer than the other!! And the shorter leg was nearly a half-inch shorter than I wanted!! - He told me it was my body! I told him the tailoring was supposed to fit the body. - I took them off to compare one leg to the other, and one leg WAS much shorter. - He told me he would fix it while I waited. The other customer still waited in the fitting room. - 10 minutes later, he handed me the slacks to try on again. They were now even, but nearly a half-inch shorter than I had wanted. - He never apologized. He requires pre-payment, but never offered a partial refund to compensate me. If you're looking for small talk, hellos, or warm customer service--Kyle is NOT your guy. He's blunt, abrupt, and gets right to the point. He will tell you to "try on" the moment you walk in. That being said, he knows his craft and doesn't waste time. Yes, he's about 30% more expensive than most tailors in the area, but when it comes to suits, jackets, or any high-end or complex tailoring--he's the only person I trust. For simpler hemming or basic tailoring, I go elsewhere, but for expensive pieces where there's no room for error, I won't take the risk--I always go to Kyle. I asked to have a couple of small holes repaired on my Lululemon leggings, but he ended up ruining them. When I sought an explanation, he became upset and yelled at me, insisting it wasn't his fault. The conversation couldn't continue because he was too unreasonable. Instead of properly fixing the holes, he glued a piece of fabric onto the leggings with a strong adhesive. This caused the fabric to not lie flat, making the surface hard and scratchy. Additionally, he left several large glue spots that I can't remove, rendering the leggings unwearable. Look at the picture to see how little care he put into the work. The fabric wasn't even cut neatly, and there was glue all over the leggings. Moreover, his customer service is severely lacking. If you're satisfied with his work, that's great, but if there's an issue, don't expect any explanation or resolution. read more

I brought two pairs of vintage Levis for tailoring. I tried them on for pinning and Kyle was very forceful with the way he spoke to me and moved my body. He would tell me to turn when I was still reviewing the pinning he did to the front so I never really got a good idea of how much or how little was taken in. I also brought in several inspo photos of what I was trying to achieve and he refused to look at them. He kept saying "I know what you want" "listen to me, I will do it right" but wouldn't look at my photos so he didn't know what I really wanted. He messing up taking one of the photos with him but the jeans looked nowhere near the photo - which was a slimmer tapered fit. The jeans I received back were almost exactly as I brought them in, I wasn't even sure they were even tailored. I was disappointed but he wouldn't even let me give any feedback so I just left with them. Against my better judgement I had another pair so I decided a few weeks later to try again and I was more direct that I wanted a slender fit, more tapered. He was just dismissive and said "ok ok". Picked up those jeans and the same thing, felt like they were barely tailored. There's not many tailors in OC who will full redo denim so it was disappointing I spent money with Expert Alternations to not get what I asked for and what I provided photos for. Will not go back. Kyle was rude, unprofessional and didn't alter as I asked. My bad for giving him a second chance. read more

OMG. Just don't. I walked in with three pairs of pants to hem. They had a sign up that said they would be closed 10/7 to 10/11. The gentleman came out of the back, chewing, and said "go try on." No hello, no how can I help, nothing. I said, "wait, I need to know---" He interrupted me and said, "Go try on!" I again tried to ask if they would be done before they closed and they interrupted me AGAIN ordering me to tell them to "go try on." I turned around and left. He shouted, "okay bye" as I left.
