The girl at the front desk was really polite and welcoming. The waiting area was clean and plenty of chairs to sit in. The girl who took me back was really nice and explained clearly where to change, use the temporary locker and where to sit. My scan went by fast. The nurse who put my IV, the nurse who setup the machine for the contrast and the MRI technician were very professional clear and welcoming. It was a great experience for a 61 year old senior. It was MLK holiday and granted, a lot more patients in the queue. When we finally got to the front of the line, despite having provided the copy of the appointment confirmation, the gal still looked at me dumbfounded. Upon entering, there's a whole side of at least 4 clerks who check in customers and process insurance information. Their vibes were off because it looks like they are all miserable.. on an early Monday morning no less. People come to this establishment, not because they want to, but because they need to. Whether it's a simple x-ray, mammogram or an MRI, people at the customer desk need to show a bit more compassionate. Yes, it's monotonous work but it's important work. The radiologic techs are excellent. Just by observing from the lobby, they show care when dealing with patients. Administrative clerks on the other hand, worst customer service I've seen as of late from a medical facility.

I typically go to the KR location on Stockdale Hwy but chose the Brimhall location this time. It seems to be a newer location focusing specifically on women's imaging. My initial appointment went smoothly I suspect because I was the first appointment of the day. I was first in and first out; however, by the time I left, the waiting room was packed. I'm sure there is a lot going on but it was still surprising to see so many people waiting when the office just opened. The mammogram exam itself was exactly what I would expect. The technician was friendly and certainly helped me take my mind off what I was doing. As it turned out, I was called back a few days and scheduled to have a repeat of the mammogram and an ultrasound. There was no explanation given when they made the appointment, but I will take a little responsibly on that. They do give you paperwork explaining how to access your report. On a positive note, when I spoke with the gal who took me back, she made a copy of my report. This time, my appointment was scheduled at 10:40am and I was told I needed to arrive by 10:20am. I arrived at 10:30. I was called back around 11:15. The waiting room was very full. I finished my repeat mammogram and an ultrasound and was out of the office before noon. My issue and reason for the 3 starts is that I had to go through the entire routine as if something might have changed in 1 week's time. It is irritating enough to fill out the same paperwork each year, but it is ridiculous to fill out the same paperwork and provide your insurance when you were seen a week prior. It's as if they would not take into consideration the stress someone is going through to even attend an appointment. There seemed to be no effort to be of help to the patient. It's all on you. The office staff was pleasant but again they just were not working for the patient but merely doing a job. They didn't even seem to empathize with how silly it was to repeat this process. They just told me to take it up with the technician, as if they could not share what I shared with them. Again, all on you. In this situation, it seems it would be entirely appropriate to make a copy of my previous paperwork and allow for me to give a new date and signature or initials. I did take it up when I went back and the feedback I got made sense. Still irritating but at least I did not feel as though no one ever has this issue.
