Despite confirming multiple times--both with the doctor and the receptionist--that our prescription needed to go to the Walgreens on Gosford because Costco was closed, it was still sent to the wrong location (CVS on Panama). Mistakes happen, but given how quiet the office was, this felt like a total lack of effort and care for the patient experience. We will be seeking care elsewhere moving forward. read more

First time at this urgent care. We were looking for an urgent care by our home that accepted Blue Shield PPO. This urgent care is on the other side of the shopping center where Winco is, so it was easy to find. They accepted walk-ins, and it was empty when we got there. They took my daughter in the back pretty quickly, and she was back out in less than 20 minutes. The front receptionist did inform us that the x-ray technician had just left, but I still wanted to see if this Dr would be able to help my daughter. My daughter said the Dr was nice, but that the Dr didn't know what was wrong and just offered pain relief. I came into the Urgent Care at 6:15 pm with one other family in the waiting room. Very friendly people. Didn't take long to get into a room, however that's when it shifted. I sat for two hours before even seeing a doctor, with her coming into my room on accident with intentions for another room, then I heard it happen again with another room. Not only did I hear that, but I heard the wrapping on the bed be changed numerous times, and many families entering and exiting, leading me to believe we were simply not being seen. Dirtiest medical facility I have ever been to! Staff were just chatting and laughing the whole time I was waiting, surely someone could've been cleaning somewhere. Absolutely disgusting. & I was not pleased that I had to set my sick infant on the scale where people's shoes go to get her weight. If you care for infants you should have the proper equipment! I was seen quickly, which I appreciated. The whole visit took less than 30 minutes. But from the start, I felt uneasy when the staff were using sticky notes to record all of my information I was giving them. It felt unorganized and didn't feel very professional. None of the employees were wearing any kind of uniform, which I've never seen at a doctor's office or urgent care before. The exam room itself didn't look very clean, which added to my discomfort. Went here for the first time, will not be going back. RED FLAG after red flag. First, they failed to check that the meds they gave me where for MY right diagnosis. I had to call and ask if my results for that specific test came back for them to say we didn't test for that, the doctor failed to request. Had to go in again for a retest as the meds given did not resolve the issue. The medical assistant was rude from the moment I walked in. Stated there was 12 people ahead of me as if she wanted me to leave. I asked for a cup so I could leave a sample and they failed to put a label on it so they could know who it belonged to. I've visited this urgent care once and I had such an easy experience, I feel compelled to write about it! I came here because I needed access to COVID testing and they also take my insurance, so I didn't want to get screwed over by the fees for the actual visit. Copay was as expected. The process was simple and pretty fast. The website stated to call ahead so I did. The office staff directed me what to do. I waited in my car until they were ready and my appt in the actual building probably was 15 mins or less. They got everything taken care of quickly and I was very impressed with that aspect, because often times I dread urgent cares because of the ambiguous wait times. They kept me in the loop and made it a simple, quick process. I will probably try to use them again in the future for regular urgent care services because of this experience. read more

We stopped in today to get a prescription for medication that I forgot at home. It wasn't needed at that moment, but I wanted to have it just in case something happened. We are staying in a cabin in Pine Mountains, so I went to my trusty Yelp app to try to find a Kaiser, as I am a patient, there. Only a couple random offices that were closed came up, so I continued searching and found 1st Choice Urgent Care. We drove into Bakersfield and easily found the location. Upon walking in, we were immediately greeted by the sweet young lady behind the counter. I described my situation and told her that I was a Kaiser patient when she asked if I had insurance. She immediately said, "Oh! There's a Kaiser Urgent Care!" I shouted, "Where?!!" Then immediately apologized and said that I didn't mean to yell. She laughed and looked up the address and printed it for me. To go all out for me like she did was epic! She didn't have to do that. She could have acted like she didn't know and charged me their general fee of $180. Instead, she saved me money for the out of pocket costs with the visit and the prescription. Thank you! I went here for some chest issues I was having. Turned out to be bronchitis and not pneumonia, like I thought. The wait time was very long (almost 2 hours), however I won't knock them for it because there were quite a bit of people in the waiting room, only one doctor working, and that doctor apologized repeatedly for the wait. I understand when you're the only one running around trying to get to everyone. I'm a pretty patient person, no big deal. Doctor ordered 2 chest x-rays and he told me it was bronchitis (ew!). Set me up with a few meds and an inhaler and sent me on my way. Even though the wait time was a little bad, the service was very prompt as soon as I got assigned a room. I always go to this urgent care. I never like the care they give but I like that it's very fast. But I won't be going back. Let's start off by saying The nurse was new. Maybe his first day..I got on the scale with my baby then he told me ok.um. you can put him on the floor. WHAT?! LOL thankfully another nurse held my baby. He started checking my babies oxygen without talking to my baby. Baby moved around so the nurse said "it's ok" and didn't take my babies oxygen..he couldn't find the measuring tape so he didn't measure my baby. Drs turn... He barely even listened to my babies chest. Didn't check his ears for infection. He said he's fine but prescribed him amoxicillin hopefully my son doesn't end up having bronchitis! read more

My mom had originally gone to a different urgent care but the wait time was 2 hours?!? I decided to use my handy dandy yelp app and found this place. It's rather new which ended up working in our favor because when I called they said the wait time was less than 15 minutes. They were friendly and helpful on the phone and were able to verify whether they accepted my momma's insurance. This urgent Care is right in the WinCo shopping center on Ashe and Panama ln. In between of Angel Donuts, and Deli Delicious, yum!! Like I mentioned, it's on the newer side so when we walked in the place looked very clean and nice. She filled out a few forms and within 15 minutes was called in, so I was very grateful. They attended her well, gave her some pain medication, called in her prescription to her pharmacy and had her out in 20 minutes. A few minutes after we got there more people started showing up and it got busy quick but they moved along fairly quickly. There is plenty of parking but the seating inside is limited. No one ever wants to go to the Urgent Care but if you do, this one would be a great one to go to. read more

Yesterday (Sunday) was our first time needing an urgent care on a weekend (my wife injured her back late Saturday night). Since we live in Tehachapi, and have not had good experiences at Tehachapi Hospital Emergency room, we looked in Bakersfield. 1st Choice was our selection due to the number of 5-star reviews they've received. We were extremely pleased, and pleasantly surprised to find that 1st Choice totally deserves their 5-star ratings! Simran checked us in and was polite, effective, and efficiently verified our insurance information. Myrka took my wife's vital signs and prescription drug history. The physician's assistant, Dr. J. Sun, quickly diagnosed my wife's injury and prescribed medication and therapy. The facility is clean and attractive. Our total time was less than an hour. I went here a couple months ago and saw a different dr for my son, but came today for myself and there's a new dr here. Seems totally unsure of himself, and also came into my room and just immediately told me what was wrong and didn't even shut the door behind him and proceeded to try and talk to me about antibiotics and other things. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO RUN A PROPER BUSINESS. I'm only give it 1 star because I have to, to even enter a rating but honestly this place gets negative 5 stars!! There service is basic but there are so many other places that are way better. My issue is the fact that I went in to be seen(I have double coverage) and they failed to ask for my copay even after I asked if I had one. They billed me and sent me a bill. The bill due date was 11/29/19 I called today 10/24/19 more than enough time ahead of the due date. They told me I can't pay and it is on collections so I will have to wait for a collection agency to buy the account then charge me before I can pay. What I can't begin to understand is how the hell my account is in collections for first $10.00 and why the he'll it is in collections when they haven't attempted to contact me and the bill doesn't say it's due until a month from now. What the actual fuck?! This place is definitely not worth it at all. If they mess up their billing there isn't anything that says they won't mess up health. This is by far THE BEST urgent care I have ever been too. I went it thought I had strep. Test was negative but still had infection in throat. 1st Dr gave oral antibiotics and ibuprofen. By day 2 I was worse. Night 2 I ended up not being able to breath. Luckily I have nebulizer at home that helped. Day 3 my tongue and throat was so swollen I couldn't talk, eat or drink. Therefore couldn't take anymore meds. I called & lady at front desk hade come back immediately. I didn't have to wait longer than 5 minutes. Different dr. This time dr prescribed antibiotic shot & steroid to help breath. The nurse who did my shots is amazing. Her name is Seda!! I hate shots & her technique is flawless. Felt no poke! No bruising. The dr was great too. Didn't get a name. He had me return for 2 more days to get antibiotic shots. Making sure I was well taken cared of. By day 4 I was almost normal except my throat was still on fire. Today day 5, I'm back to 90% myself. I hope to not get this sick again but if I do I will definitely come back here due to fast service, cleanliness & manner of dr & staff. They treated me better than my normal physician does.
