I'm surprised to see this location has such a low rating. I've been twice and each time the fro t desk ladies as well as the techs have been super kind and the service was quick. I never felt rushed or like I was just another body. They took time to verify, ask appropriate questions and explain the steps of each procedure. I had an urgent referral for an MRI due to extremely painful electrical shocks in my face, trigeminal neuralgia (referred to as the suicide disease due to uncontrollable pain). They cancelled my appt twice when I showed up for the appt., citing no pre-authorization received from insurance and said they would do the scan if I paid $300 out of pocket but because I DO have insurance, they would not perform it. This is fishy and i suspect they want cash so they can skim off the top. When I asked when they submitted the authorization request, they finally told me they never submit them and expect my Dr. to do that. My primary Dr. then said they never get the authorization and the common practice is for radiology to submit it. Runaround while in severe pain! I rescheduled with Quest instead. read more

Stockdale location Office experience: carpet is filthy, tile was dirty, trash on floor and employees walk by and just walk over it. Nice building but office is run down. Ripped furniture. Receptionist was very nice and professional. She would get 5 stars. Unfortunately, their appointments system is faulty. 4 calls for confirmation plus 4 texted links with appointment times and date yet arrived and they stated appointment time was 1 hr later than all the messages stated. This is the absolute worst place to have to deal with! What is it about Bakersfield and their medical services? From doctors to hospitals to any type of radiology services! I took my mom for a biopsy and they told us to arrive 30 minutes early and for what I ask? We waited 2 hrs with not one room but rooms full of people waiting! The facility was dirty and sick people everywhere. My mom was then diagnosed with cancer and had to go through chemo. We needed her scans on a disk so I called to request them and was on hold for over 30 min. We have never even had to wait 30 minutes for a drs appt at UCLA where she is receiving treatment. Don't waste your time trying to get treatment in this town for anything. They could take some lessons in professionalism, how to run a business and patient care from UCLA. read more

Scheduling an appointment is a nightmare! Their online scheduling does not work - it forces you to choose from a drop down menu ie "referring Dr" "previous imaging locations" but only has a few Dr's names to choose from same for the locations question. So you have to call them. Well normally that wouldn't be an issue but it doesn't connect to local offices and the reps can be hard to understand and the process is frustratingly LONG! read more

It's been over 2 weeks since I've had my referral for CT scan due to nauseating /extreme pain in abdominal area and I've had no call from them. Doctor put my CT scan in as ASAP/stat and the doctors office has even tried to give them a call to speed the process. They do not care abt the patient. My significant others experience a month or so ago was even worse. Had extreme stomach pain and got a CT scan.... It took them THREE WEEKS for them to call and give results. By then we had already gone to the ER , he had twisted intestines! You would think they would give urgency to call considering his f***ing intestines were twisting in his body.. imagine the pain...I would rate lower than 1 if I could. I have talked to so many managers, supervisors, and schedulers with no one being able to give me any answers. I had a procedure done at Kern radiology, I paid my co-pay at the time of the procedure then shortly after they sent me a bill for the co-pay so I sent them a check in a month after they sent me another bill for the same co-pay so I call them up and wanna know what's going on and I talk to this guy who could hardly speak any English I could not understand anything he said so he transferred to his supervisor and left a message and still have not received a telephone call from the supervisor. I had scheduled an appointment, through their site, I am extremely claustrophobic so I require taking a Xanax before the procedure. I listed my claustrophobia all over my paperwork but was given NO instructions on when to take it so my daughter called them to ask about when I should take my Xanax. She was told that I needed to be at the appointment by 3:30 to take it. On the day of my appointment, my daughter called them again and NO ONE had noted she called them on Monday and what she was told. We arrived at the appointment and upon checking in, was told they were running one hour behind. I then asked when do I take my Xanax and was told to wait while she called the technician and they wanted her to contact the supervisor. The supervisor said she would have to speak to the office manager. I was told to wait until she heard back. When I went up to check on the status of my appointment, she asked me to wait while she checked with her supervisor. She came back shortly indicating that she couldn't find her supervisor. Shortly after that, she called me back up to the window and said that I would be seen today and she would register me and then let me know when to take the Xanax. DON'T USE THIS PLACE! And DON'T BOTHER MAKING APPOINTMENTS. If you're one hour late to an appointment, YOU WILL NOT BE SEEN. I feel they're extremely unprofessional. read more

I was very concerned this was going to suck but when I arrived the building was modern and waiting room tastefully decorated. Front desk lady checked me in immediately and I went right back to get an MRI. The machine must be newer because the tube was large. I did not feel like I was being shoved into a straw. Much faster than I am used to too (perhaps because it's a newer machine that is faster than I am used to). I was in and out in 35 minutes. I am surprised with all these bad reviews. read more

Best way to describe this place is disorganized chaos. From scheduling people on holidays they are closed (Thanksgiving) to having check-in stations side by side (possible hippa violations) stay away if you can. The icing on the cake is when you ask if you are allowed to be present with the person receiving the ultrasound. The answer you're given is it's up to the technician. When I asked the technician I was told no, I was not allowed back. Without giving specifics this was close to a life or death situation. If that doesn't qualify, not sure what does. Here's a wild idea. Just create a standard policy so you set clear expectations and don't leave your patients confused why someone was not allowed back. read more

Showed for appt they had a huge line and only 1 person at the dest checking people in, i finally got checked in and was sitting there another patient shows up from Tehachapi took they day off for her appt just to be told she wasnt in the system. Another patient showed up from Delano for his appt and was told the same thing that he wasnt in the system. Then there was a lady who just walked out because she her appt was taking too ling and she was feeling ill all this within a few minutes of me checking in. I have to be seen at this location very frequently and they're always so friendly and accommodating. The front staff is always exceptionally nice and always seem to be in a good mood. They make checking in fast and easy. The back staff as well as the entire Radiologist team is nothing short of the best!! They always make sure I'm comfortable, they talk to me through a pretty painful procedure and make sure to find ways to distract me to where I don't feel a thing. The lidocaine injections are usually the part that makes me so nervous, but it never fails.... I never feel much of anything. Awesome staff, great bedside manner and everyone at this clinic is a rockstar! read more

So I had made a MRI of the knee appointment a month a go. So I finally get scheduled and they ask you on the phone " Do you have any metal parts in your body" ? And all the other questions they ask. Well so I get there and I get ready to go in and the tech asked if my knee was swollen and I said yes and he said well the device we have is going to be to small and he said the large one is broke. He was apologetic. He said they another device they can use but it doesn't take really really good pictures but it takes good pictures. I said well I need to find out if it could be my tendons or ligaments to see what's going on and how will I know if the radiologist can't really make out the pictures. I mean I should of been asked the question knowing it's a MRI of knee, and the facility that will be able to accommodate us for what we're having done. I had no choice to get it done because I had already waited for this appointment. And MRI's aren't cheap but Ken radiology is getting paid right !!! read more

I have a complaint against Kern Radiology Scheduling department. The following facility lacks professional supervision of employees integrity of being competent in their job task. I'm a Vietnam Veteran with 25 Years as an instructor in the Foothill Community College in the Bay Area. I called twice today to check on my appointment schedule and was disappointed by the people who answer the phones and appear to not care or just lazy in doing their job. Please note each time I was put on hold for more than 15minutes only to have a recorded message speaking in Spanish on numerous occasions. Finally a women came to the phone and said she would need to transfer me to another department. These women employees continued this sequence until after closing time and then hung the phone up. I don't know if they are prejudice or can't do the job. I do know for a fact that Kern Radiology need to hire more people of diversity to correct this ongoing problem in the Bakersfield community because its unacceptable. WN. Howard read more

Kern Rad is by far the worse business ever. My Dr. Ordered a Stat MRI and of course, it takes weeks to get an appointment and each time (3 times) on the day of my appointment I get a phone call to reschedule. I'm so over it all. read more

Out of all the Kern Radiology locations here in Bakersfield, I really enjoy this one. Not only is it by my office but the staff here are professional and kind. They know your nervous and don't rush you. If you don't understand they take the time to explain the procedure until you do. read more

Know the exam you are scheduled for and verify that with the staff when you arrive. I was supposed have a cardiac MRI, all registration questions seemed centered around my head. They were going to do a brain MRI! I insisted that they call the dr to verify it was a MRI of my heart. I was sent back to the lobby to wait. In meantime I called the dr and confirmed it was for a cardiac MRI. When another tech called me back they insisted again it was for my brain and that they had talked to dr. Luckily the Dr's assistant call me while I was talking to them. Since everything requires pre-authorization from the insurance the techs didn't want to admit they misread the original orders and got the wrong authorization. Then it turns out they couldn't do it because they lacked the software (or skill) to do it. 4 hours of my life wasted. read more

My gynecologist referred me to Kern Radiology to get an ultrasound for my uterus as I was suffering from prolonged periods. Long story short, the geniuses at Kern Radiology billed my insurance for infertility so I would be responsible to pay for the service. And when I called billing, no one could properly explain why it was billed like that in the first place. I was shocked and felt like it was a slap in the face. Kathy H I arrived at 3838 San Dimas Street for a 2:30 appointment for a Left Nephrostomy Tube Placement which was delayed until 5pm and left the facility at 6:45pm. I was not impressed the with the quality of service at this facility. I was in severe pain for four days until the drain tube was removed and required a blood transfusion five days latter. I was admitted to a hospital for infections from the surgery and endured another surgery for placement of a kidney drain. I have tested positive for for a staff infection called MRSA and can only assume this came from Kern Radiology. read more

Why does it always seem like a bother to come and get X-rays from Kern Radiology? Had a late dr Appt yesterday. Dr. Ordered an Xray. Went to the Rio Bravo one cause it was closest. Nobody was in the front for at least 10min. Then they tell me there not taking X-rays right now because of the pandemic. I headed to the one by Memorial hospital. By this time its already going on 5pm. Walked in and they close at 6pm but they told me there not taking anymore patients because they close in an hour and theres still patients ahead of me which the waiting room in front was empty. So I had to wait until next day. Came to the one on Stockdale. They kept trying to make it seem like it was such a big deal cause there was a wait and if I just wanted to come another day. Like so rude! The Xray was a STAT! Mind you the lady next to me asked for copies of her stuff and the lady at the desk kept shaking her head as if it was to much to do. Like where is the customer service at these places. I can see if one place is rude but all seem like there bothered to do there job. People come in here for so many reasons some are very serious and some small but it doesn't matter everyone needs to feel comfortable and not feel like a bother. I always feel discouraged when I have to come to Kern Radiology. read more

These folks are the very best! From the prep staff (very important if you have to have an IV during the MRI), to the admin staff...they are pros. I have had MRIs up and down the state of California, and being VERY claustrophobic makes it an excercise in endurance... Kern Radiology got it done, quickly and efficiently. I expected to be in the machine for hours, but was out relatively quickly. Thank You, Ms. Netherton! Also: a huge thanks to the nurse (?) that installed my IV line...it didn't even leave a mark that could be seen! If you have to have an MRI, this is the place!! read more
