This might be the first nail salon I've been to where I'm concerned about the cleanliness. During my pedicure, I noticed the woman doing my nails stop to rifle through the drawers of her bench to get the nail file, the alcohol, etc. The concern here is that the gloves she was using were covered in the jelly scrub that she had gotten from my feet, with my dead skin cells, and were now being spread across the other items that would be used on future customers. Although I don't have fungus, it made me think about how often they do that with other customers that possibly could. And that's how things spread. The polish options are on a multi-tiered carousel which seems nice but makes it difficult to grab the ones in the back, so I gave up and just went with the high-end OPI, misreading the sign that said it was a $5 upcharge (I thought it was only two - not a big deal but FIVE dollars for a polish that's not gel seems far too pricey). Awfully inconvenient was when I paid with my card to learn I couldn't tip her unless I had cash. Fortunately I happened to have cash on me, but this is really unfair to their employees (though I felt that the work didn't deserve much of a tip, at the end of the day they're working on feet and that's not something I would do myself so credit is due). read more

So I've been trying many nail salons in the area to kinda get a feel for a good nail tech. I tried this salon because of the awesome reviews. I will say if you need a pedicure this is probably the place to be. They seem as though they do really well with pedicures and have a lot more equipment for pedicures. That being said, the nail station was very small which isn't a big deal but it didn't have many of the amenities other nail salons have. So again, I'd go for a pedicure. So here's how the actual appointment went, I showed the nail tech a picture of the nails I wanted which were VERY long coffin nails. I figured my appointment started at 5 and they close at 7 so it would be more than enough time. She sits me down and puts on a movie so that was really nice. She starts gluing the tips on and forgets to do one of my nails completely and puts everything away. She realized she missed a nail so she obviously fixed it. This is where I kinda started to lose hope in the salon, she did not ask and starts cutting the acrylics really SHORT and she asked of that was okay. I showed her the picture and she was like okay and kept cutting them and then filed one and asked me if we could just keep them short because she did it already. There wasn't any dip on my nails yet or anything just tips. I nicely told her no and showed her the picture so she has to restart everything. She for sure made them longer the second time but didn't ask again about the length. Once she starts adding the dip she's using way tooooo much to the point where my pinky finger looked like it had a bubble on it? She filed a lot of it away but in the end it gave it this weird look. Once she starts buffing my nails and using the tools she's being so rough with them the buffer flew out of her hands across the table MULTIPLE times. It was so unnecessarily rough the little tool buffer kept hitting my skin because she was doing it so hard. After she puts the polish on and doesn't put me under a dryer or anything just tells me to wait. After like 3 minutes she comes over and says they're dry and doesn't tap my nail..BUT SMEARS HER FINGER ON MY NAIL. She literally wiped all the polish off and then rolled her eyes and fixed it. She told me now I could go sit in the dryer for my nails and at like 6:45 they told me to leave because my nails were done so I left with wet nails and they got kinda ruined. She also didn't line up any of my fingers to make sure they match which I inserted a picture of. Normally I don't post extensive reviews like this, but this was 50$ and my nails are different sizes and lengths :( very sad about this salon. I have two stars because the inside was pretty and I'm sure they do wonderful with pedicures. Sadly I will not be returning to this nail salon and I'll be recommending other places to friends and family. read more

They start at a basic price then $5.00 for this and $5.00 for that for pedicures. Overall, the work is wonderful and in a professional environment. I really liked this place a lot after my first visit, but after I've been back a few times, the service is lacking. Now, I still love that they massage the crap out of your legs, but the following is what I do not like and thus the reduction in my rating: 1) telling me there is a 5 minute wait and really its more like 20-30. They brought me back to a chair within 10 minutes of that wait but for another 10-20 minutes, they didn't fill it with water. So, I was sitting in a chair waiting for a pedicure with no water and no one in the place acknowledging I was there. 2) They charge you extra to scrub the bottom of your feet(your heels). Really? Isn't this supposed to be included in a pedicure? that's what makes the pedicure. 3) The polish job is sloppy and chips within a day or two. If I'm going to pay 27$ plus tip for a pedicure, I expect it to last more than two days. Plus- the first time I went my pedicure was $25 and now its $27 all the sudden. 4) Speaking of tips. When I go to pay they tell me they want me to write a check(and not use my credit card). I don't mind writing a check, so I do but then she says "make sure to include your tip and leave the name blank." WHAT? first, who the heck tells you to include a tip? I thought it was so rude and for that reason alone I wont be back. Of course I was going to tip them but to expect it and flat out tell me to do so, pissed me off. 5) Since I wrote a check, they didn't cash it for like two weeks. When they did cash it, I noticed they included someones specific name on the check and not the name of the business. Now, this is partially my fault as I should have just written to "Expert Nails & Spa", but regardless-it's shady. It's like they don't want you to use a CC so they don't have to pay fees and they want you to write a check so it can go to the owner specifically and not the business(again, don't want to be charged additional fees). You're running a business, not a underground shady hole in the wall...there are fees. The salon is clean and they show girly movies all the time(which I loved), BUT their business practice is extremely shady and I won't be returning. read more

I went and had a deluxe pedicure last week before heading out of town. The lady was so rough on massaging my calves I had to ask her to stop. The polish was amazing but a day later I had bruises all up and down my legs. But the kicker!! I NOW HAVE SORES ALL UP AND DOWN MY CALVES! I'm so freaked out about these sores and they hurt so bad. They are horrible. I called the doctor and the first thing he said was "have you had a pedicure recently?" There ya go! I'm now starting antibiotics so they don't cause scarring (which according to the doctor is common). I haven't been to any other nail places; this was my first pedicure since March. So it has to be from here. Note: one other minor gripe about this place.... they won't let you put a tip on your credit card and then give you the stink eye if you don't tip. First I only came here because my girlfriend raves about this salon and employees all the time. I can solely say this is because they load her up on wine. Of course I'd love a horrible manicure if you loaded me up on booze. This all takes place on New Year's Eve afternoon, I sit down for what I believe will be a great gel manicure. Only if I knew what YELP had in-stored for me with this joint. I place my hands into the water, let's describe the water as semi-lukewarm. The young lady begins will filing my nails down, BARELY! She didn't even ask if I was okay with the length which is a "common practice". Proceeds to continue with pushing or whatever the heck she did to my cuticles. (Honestly she didn't do my cuticles because they were all splitting within a day). So whatever she finishes and has someone else complete my gel-manicure. The girl who completes my manicure, not sure if she was rushing. But she kept cleaning around the edges of my nail to the point that it was hurting and left a LARGE space between my nail beds and the physical nail itself. So we're on day 5 and it look like my manicure is already growing out. Seriously I'm throwing my hands up in the air! To make matters my "GEL Manicure" is already chipping. I know you're wonder the same thing, how is this possible... Well I don't know. But for one thing I'll never be back to this place again, not only do I have a very horrible ugly manicure that needs to be fixed, but I have to wait for the polish to grow out just so I won't ruin my nails So ladies listen up, Do not come to this establishment for any form or service you will regret it. As well, it is pretty obvious that the employees are 1. Making fun of the customers and talking poor about this in their presence. It usually takes about 1.5-2 hours on a Saturday afternoon for me to get my piggies and fingers done, but it's worth it as I lay back in the chair all relaxed while watching a cheesy romantic comedy that was probably purchased in an 8 pack of cheesy romantic comedies at Costco. My nails always look lovely and my pedicures last at least 3 weeks, if not longer and my manicures look great for two weeks. It's a nice, pleasant way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon for sure. read more

Okay, this review is late because I went about 3 weeks ago. First, salon was basically empty at 2 on a Saturday. My mom and I went to get pedicures, we get seated quickly but wait for over an hour for someone to start working on us! They had to call staff to come in after we said we were going to leave if no one was going to work on our feet. The guy finally starts and I noticed the utensils weren't opened right in front of me, most places I've been to open sterilized utensils right in front of me. I should have gotten up right then and there and left but no, I had already waited an hour I was not leaving without painted toenails. The pedicure itself was fine, nothing special. Fast forward to today when it really starts chipping so I decide to take it off... To my surprise I have discovered I now have BLACK FUNGUS under both of my big toenails. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. I hate feet, and love getting a good pedicure to make me realize that mine aren't so hideously ugly. The prices here seemed reasonable, so I went in. Issue 1: I got a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was done in 30 minutes flat--the manicure took an hour and a half. Never before in my life has a manicure taken so long. I don't know if the girl was training, anal retentive, or what. And the manicure (french tip) didn't even turn out that well. I've definitely had better. Issue 2: My toes looked AWFUL. And I mean that sincerely. I do my own toenail polish on occasion, and I am hands and FEET (ha!) better at painting my toenails than the lady who did them. I had paint on my skin, and a couple of nails were missing paint on the edges. You go to get your nails done professionally because you want it done right. I was mortified. Issue 3: After taking an hour and a half to do my fingernails, the manicurist had the audacity to demand I sign off on their paperwork (the stuff about them disinfecting) while my nails were still wet. I requested to go have them dry under the blacklight thing and she agreed, only to come over 3 minutes later and tell me that they were dry and demand again that I sign the paperwork. Listen, lady. I haven't paid you, I'm not an escapee, I will sign the paperwork. Let's make sure my nails are dry first. And they weren't! She kept insisting they were dry, so I paid her and went out to my car where I promptly smudged one of the white-tips trying to turn the car on. I was so displeased I went back in and had her fix it. It was an obvious patch job, but better than me having to scrap the entire manicure when I got home. I'll never go back there, and I'd never encourage anyone else to go. If you like having unprofessional service and a terrible job done, I'd expect you can find it cheaper somewhere else. Like at home. read more

I ran into this salon after I broke a nail on my dip manicure from a different salon. I'm in from out of town and the reviews were good. The dip manicure at my salon in Denton normally takes 35 minutes tops. I was at Expert nails in the chair for 1.5 hours. I hate complaining but I am so disappointed in my dip manicure. My nails are filed unevenly, there are bubbles and dips in the nails, two of my cuticles are cut and sore from where the electric buffer thingy was run over them too many times, and there are little flecks of black in the very nude color on my nails. The gentleman who did my nails was SO very nice which makes it hard to write this review, but I find myself stewing late at night over my $45 manicure that I will have to redo at my regular salon when I return home on Sunday. Tammy is the best! I've been going here for years with my mom when we need a chill time, and the massage chairs and rom-com selection are top tier. They've recently added this awesome and strange jelly treatment that I love, and they rub it over your legs and feet and they both feel so soft. They've also been really good about keeping it super sanitary and requiring masks for guests and employees, which is a huge relief, don't wanna be stressing about stuff like that while I'm trying to relax! read more

HORRIBLE !! If I could give them no stars I would! I went there and told them I'd like to have acrylic and gel on my REAL nails instead of cutting my nails short and putting tips on them.. However for them it meant more work so they refused to do it and sent me home. As if that wasn't enough they were obviously talking about me the entire time!! How rude is that!!! As we would not recognize that they're chatting about us.. You don't need to speak Chinese to get it! People like that should not run a business especially not one where you're around people when you can't treat your customers appropriately!! As for me I can just talk about their customer service and impoliteness but not about their work. I guess the reviews of former customers here tell enough about how poor their work is! This is the first time I have ever experienced such a bad service that I went out of my way to give a review. I wish I could give them zero stars. The service was terrible, however their attitudes were WAY worse. I walked in to get a manicure and a pedicure and the first thing that they did when I walked in was pointed me straight to the SNS stuff and I told them I did not want SNS whatsoever... (The first time I came they only showed us the circle thing with the fake nails painted as color testers and said that those colors were the nail polishes but in reality were the SNS because when she started to use the SNS powder I told her that was not the one I wanted , and was the completely wrong color of the one that I had seen. and she refused to do it with the polish and said OVER and OVER that it was better for me and "last longer no chip" and I told her OVER and OVER that's not what i wanted, but when i told her no she kept on going.... so in conclusion my sister had picked out a super cute purple color that she had seen on the fake nails and when the lady finished using the SNS it was HOT PINK... and it was $90 for 2 people and terrible service) So today when I told her no SNS she gave me the ugliest look and I was being starred at by the staff that was just sitting around. When I picked out my color she sat my down because I was getting my toes painted as well. Both ladies doing my nails were being so rude and looking at me and then talking and then the entire staff would be looking at me after someone said something. Like I obviously know you're talking crap about me... And when I was picking the length she threw a hissy fit because they were "too long" literally I will share a photo of the size... And she was like complaining about me because they would not stop looking at me and she rolled her eyes like 4 times. After the whole length situation it all went way down hill because she was being so rude and would just talk to her co-workers. I understand that's how they communicate, however please don't make us feel judged and frustrated seeing the faces y'all make and knowing y'all are talking about us. She was also literally HURTING me when she was doing my nails and when my hand was LITERALLY shaking from the amount of pressure she was putting on the while buffing them she said with the most rude tone " if you keep shaking it not gonna do anymore" like SORRY you're hurting me!!! Also at the very end she told me to let them pick the color next time because it wasn't the right color shade??? she could have helped me when i walked in but she was too busy on her Ipad and trying to make me fall for their dumb SNS crap. I stopped in as a walk-in and asked for a regular mani/pedi. The lady asked if I could wait about 20 minutes. I was seated faster than 20 minutes, which was nice. Water was started and a minute later I was asked to check it. It was completely cold. She turned the hot on, but since the cold had been running for a while, the mix was still just tepid. I then proceeded to sit there for 25 more minutes and no one even started my services. After being there 40 minutes, I got up and left. If you can't accommodate a customer in a reasonable amount of time, just say so. Don't leave them sitting there. read more

I never leave Yelp Reviews, only Google, but I wanted to make it a point to review Expert Nails. I've been coming here for 2 years for dip manicures and pedicures and the services are consistently great. I truly think any reviews that state otherwise are at customer fault (rude, entitled customers) or are because of poor expectations ie: being able to walk in for services at 5:00pm on a Thursday with no wait - that's plain unrealistic. They always greet me upon arrival, get my nails soaking quickly, and execute dip manicures exceptionally. Every tech who has done my pedicures has done an awesome job and Tammy, Max, and the other woman (sorry I don't know her name) do a great job with the dip. They have even fixed broken nails for me for free on week 2-3 of a manicure -- we all know when a nail breaks, it's not the nail tech you saw 2 weeks ago's fault, it's probably because you hit it on something etc. They run an efficient, friendly, clean business and I will continue to support them as long as I live in the area. I would give them a -5 if I could. This place has been the worst manicure SNS experience for me. I made an appointment and got there at 5:30 PM and I was the only customer. They were constantly chatting amongst themselves and didn't make any attempt to even talk to me. Then while the guy worked on my hand one of the girls who works there came and sat next to him and placed her feet across the table on the chair next to me. Really? They didn't even ask if I wanted water or anything to drink. Their customer service sucks. Now, let's get to the manicure part. He started well with the SNS and then as a final step applied a coat of polish and placed it under LED that is supposed to cause it to shine extra??! The moment I placed my hand, it started smelling like burnt plastic. I immediately called Tammy and said that it smells weird. She didn't move from her chair and then started talking in their language and this guy kept applying this on their other hand. He applied a heavily scented cuticle oil on my hand and asked me to was my hand to see if the smell would go away! And of course it didn't. When I told her it still smelt bad she gave me a look as if I was being difficult. I told her come smell it if you want and she said "I am not smelling your hand". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? In an attempt and a half assed apology, They buffed the top layer away and still the smell stayed. They kept trying to remove and buff my nails and by now time was 7 PM. I was just so done by this point that I told them that I wanted to just go and asked him to remove the color completely. He did a half ass job and when I asked him to remove the color fully he sighed as if I was making a scene when they really messed up by applying expired stuff on my nails. 2 hours later with no SNS/manicure on my nails, I went home with nails that smell like plastic. Thank god I didn't have an event to Goto the next day that required my nails to look decent. I would stay FAR FAR away from this place. Definitely not worth the time and money. Oh, they also have insects and roaches walking around their pedi chairs. How is this place even open??!! read more

I'm sad to write this review because I used to be a big fan of this place. Last week I went in for a manicure and pedicure. I only had an hour and a half before I needed to leave town. The owner told me they could take me. I had gel on my toes so that needed to be taken off first. She put a long piece of cotton on my top of toes that was soaked in nail polish removed and then left..... for 45 minutes. One of the other girls came over and said she could help me. I told her I would no longer have time for a pedicure if she could just please do a polish change. (Anywhere else I go, a polish change is a cut down, file, and repaint) Well she agreed that was best since I didnt have time, took off my polish and then started repainting. I asked her if she could please clip my toenails. The owner stepped in and clipped them and finished painting. She apologized multiple times. I told her it was okay that things happen. She went on to give me massage with the oil. I thought it was her way of being nice. She asked to scrub my feet and I told her I just didn't have time. She continued to apologize on the way to check out. She then handed me my receipt...... my polish change cost $48!!!!!!!!!! I was stressed, upset, and in shock...... all I could do was walk out. I didn't have the time or energy to argue. I regret that now. Here I am one week later and my $48 polish change has chipped. Again, sad that it worked out this way. read more
