There were more windows that needed repair than we thought so Fidel and his crew needed to come out the next day as he needed more repair kits. He also noticed that one of the latches was on the wrong side of the window which would mean a window would need to be broken in order to escape a fire. He corrected that. The job was pretty swift, considering it was all custom. They measured carefully, and discussed potential issues with us and how we might like to work around them (mostly issues of our old house having walls not perfectly true, and of building codes having changed a lot since our former railing had been installed). All made sense and we came up with agreeable workarounds. They did initial fabrication on site, to make sure that everything fit perfectly, and then did the finishing work and painting off site. The final install was meticulously precise. The new railing is very sturdy. Photos show completed railing BEFORE we installed new finished flooring. It is bolted to the subfloor and to some reinforcement blocking that they installed under the subfloor for us, as well. Overall, we're quite happy with it. For something like this our goal had been to install a railing that will last for 50 years, and I think they met that goal for us.

I asked Marco to do some more work for me building a driveway gate for me. His quote came in more…read moreexpensive then the other few I had gotten, but I knew he had quality work, so I hired him. I gave him a deposit after a couple meetings and then proceeded to wait over 2 months for him to show any progress. Once he finally came with the gate, it was not painted nor did it have any cutouts for the lock / handle. A few weeks later is when the lock and handle were installed and the gate was painted. As of today (6 months later), I still am missing the welded part needed for the deadbolt lock cover and he missed painting the whole top portion of one side of the gate. I have now asked multiple times for him to finish and said he would come, but did not come the day he told me he would. We also still have overspray on our composite wood that he said he would clean up. Marco's work is really good quality and built to last, but no gate should take over 6 months to build. The fact that I have to chase him down to work on the gate is concerning. At this point, I don't think I'd hire him or refer him to do any work as it won't get completed in a timely fashion.
