Real disappointed in these guys. I have four vehicles that frequent this facility between two of mine and two of my daughters and mothers. Took my truck to have trans serviced with my own oul filters and gasket because I have gone places where they don't stock these items or not the factory oil. I had factory GM parts and oil and they said they would not do it i was just there a month prior with the same truck where I supplied my oil because I am sponsored by Lucas Oil Products they declined my service this time and I indicated I don't care what they charge said that was the owners decision dumb choice taking my four cars elsewhere and never going back! read more

I always come here for oil changes, rotations, new filters, etc. The workers are honest and very helpful. If I request a service they think I don't need just yet (rotation, etc.) they're honest and tell me so I can save my money. I'm a pretty young girl and I come by myself, which sometimes makes me nervous when it comes to automotive stuff, but this place is great and has always taken great care of me and my vehicle. read more

These guys saved me $$$! The dealer told me my glove box was "broken" probably due to having my cabin air filter changed at Express Lube. The dealer estimated the cost to replace it would be $500-600. I called Express Lube, and the manager asked me to bring it over. He had Tim pull the glove box out. Took my car in today for an oil change. Got my fuel injection done as well. They showed me a coupon for $20 off I could use. They were so helpful, accommodating to my disabilities, and very quick and efficient. We were in and out pretty quickly. This was my 4th time taking my car in for service and each time it has been great. There may be other places that are a few dollars cheaper but I would rather pay for great customer service and the job done correctly. read more

A few years back I was in need of an oil change, but couldn't figure out a time to get over to Honda - not to mention I didn't have the time it would take to wait (no shade they are great people). So I randomly pulled into Express Lube. Fast forward a few years later (today) and a new car...I am STILL giving them ALL my business. They have always been extremely reliable and QUICK. They had me in and out in less than 10 minutes. However, they took advantage that I was a female and alone. When I got home my family couldn't believe I got an oil change done for $95 without including a cabin filter change. 3 different men approached me saying they recommended this and that for extra charges. A cabin filter change would be $55 extra, new windshield wipers would be $60 extra, I needed transmission oil, I needed Freon, etc. Etc. I know nothing about cars but these prices seemed unreasonable since Costco sells wipers for $6 and you just clip them on and their $95 oil change didn't include the cabin filter?? I let them know I would go with regular oil and they said my car required synthetic and this and that but I should've came with my brother. read more

My mom (who speaks broken English) took her van here for an oil change about a month ago. An Asian employee told her she had a serious leak with her transmission and he could fix for $350. He said it was dangerous and needed to fix it now. She was smart enough to hold off and took the vehicle to our mechanic. Turns out the transmission in the vehicle was fine and there were no leaks or anything wrong with the fluid. Great job guys trying to take advantage of my mom. I loved this place at first, and if you are going to be a regular here, I would highly recommend them. Everyone is nice, they work fast, the price is decent. So, I'll emphasize this again, if you are never going to change your oil, and plan on coming here every time, this is a good place. But, if you ever plan on changing your own oil or taking it somewhere else, I'd suggest you never come here. I don't know if they use impact wrenches, but a drain plug only requires about 17-22 pounds of pressure to tighten and loosen. This can be done by hand with a standard socket wrench. But having my oil changed here, and doing the next one at home, they didn't go by hand, and if they did, they purposely tightened it so much that a normal person, without car ramps and a breaker bar would ever get the drain plug or filter cap off. I've changed cars oil for years, and my father in law was a mechanic for twenty years. The effort it took the two of us to remove the filter cap and drain plug is nowhere near the norm. Two people, should never need a breaker bar to remove a drain plug, ever. Come here over and over again, and it's a good place. But, trust me, they make it so you cannot go anywhere else. read more

We have had our vehicles serviced here for at least 10 yrs but I have never watched them fill my truck with oil until today. I stopped them as they were filling it when I saw them using a funnel and a big open-topped dirty plastic jug. They have at least 2 racks of these jugs that they fill from a smaller box of bulk oil (kind of like a box of wine). These jugs are never sealed off or closed from the gardner and his blower or any other form of blowing dirt or even moths, flies, and other flying insects. I requested a sample of it to take to Caterpillar and have it analyzed to see just how contaminated it is but they refused. It wasn't even the correct grade of oil as per mfg specs. They told me it used a thicker oil because it is high mileage then told me it has used that oil since at least 2013. It is only 240k miles now and was nowhere near that 10 yrs ago. I am a retired heavy equipment mechanic, I did field service for Cummins and Caterpillar, I am very familiar with what contaminated oil is and this fits the definition exactly! I have seen guys fired on the spot for not using a clean sealed jug for transferring oil but this is what the owner supplies for them to use! I am beside myself that they feel this is proper, that they are contaminating every vehicle they service like this and do not have a problem with doing it, it is their business model. I will take another vehicle in there and request that oil just to pull an oil sample from it in their driveway to have it analyzed, I should have done that today but did not think fast enough. I have an oil sample pump that uses a hose down the dipstick tube, it takes less than 3 min to have a sealed sample, and then based upon the report probably get a slimy attorney involved on commission, maybe class action because I am not the only one and they have done it so long. I wonder what damage has been done to my engine, will I lose 200k miles, I was actually hurting my engine by having them service it. I'm sure it will not get the mileage out of the engine that it could have if they had used clean jugs to fill the oil. I highly recommend that if you should have to use this place or any other Jippy Lube that you watch them fill your vehicle with oil and make sure it comes out of an oil gun hooked to a hose and not a plastic open-topped jug that sits in the corner until they need it. I know how dusty my garage gets, it even gets into my home that is closed up. To try and tell me those jugs are clean is lying straight to my face!!! Look at the pics, there is a hole in the top about 4" or 5" in diameter equals somewhere between 12.56 sq. inches to 19.625 square inches (they would not tilt it for me) besides the pour spout that you can see. How clean do you suppose those jugs are and can you imagine what lands in them that end up inside your engine? If you lay something down in an open environment that was 12.5 sq. inches to almost 20 sq. inches, how much debris would land on it? read more

Express Lube you are OVERPRICED and sexist. Even with a coupon my total was over $85 to change the oil in my 2015 Toyota Prius full synthetic ($97 W/out coupon). The Toyota dealership on Bullard/Blackstone is $71.53 with no coupon full synthetic. Sorry express oil, you should be more efficient and better priced since this is all you do. You have less parts/overhead to carry and you are extremely higher. I saw the technician show the dipsticks the 3 men in the waiting room, but to us two women in the waiting room you didn't even ask if we would like to see it. If that's not sexist, not sure what it! I was in for an oil change last week. The gentleman came out and spoke to me about needing new brake pads. There was no hard sell. Just informing me. He also came back out to show me the new oil was filled- by showing me the oil stick. Today, I returned to get the brake pads fixed. My husband shopped around for prices and this was by FAR the best price- actually too good to believe. I had to reconfirm that the price was correct for pads and rotors. Richie, told me he would order parts and call me when they arrived and that it would take about an hour. (other places wanted car for half a day) He called about 2 hrs later. I went in and just about an hour later, my car was done. Richie showed me the old rotors and discussed what he saw. I can't recommend this place enough. Fantastic customer service. With prices that can't be beat- you'd be stupid to go anywhere else. read more

They were really attentive and service was really good. They told me that the last place that did my oil change did not even put in a filter. I was furious. That's another ZERO star to review on yelp here! But they checked my air filter and it looks like whoever installed it last for me also did a shitty job because this place showed how they pulled it out and it was all scrunched up and blent! And to top it off, thinking they have completed services for me, my battery dies! Luckily, they were able to jump it, and checked the battery and sure enough it needed to be replaced. So o'railey's was next door who they contract with and I just had them replace it. I took away one star for the price for the oil change. I think it's a bit pricey, but for the service, I give them a 5. They were fast too, not anticipating all these issues they discovered in my car! UNACCEPTABLE beyond belief! How dare they take advantage of elderly folks! An elderly family member took her deceased husband's truck in for service around the week of Thanksgiving. We now have the truck in our possession to detail it for resale. We opened the hood to find the "NEW" air filter not properly connected. Now the real horror: Underneath the air filter there is dried up mouse carcass and old feces. Please check out the pictures I will be posting! If they did not want to remove the dead mouse and feces, they could of at least communicated this was beyond their scope of expertise service! But, NO, they just put the air filter in the compartment on top of the dead mice and feces without properly connecting the filter. The coolant obviously was not checked as it was a gallon low. It does not leak. In addition, the tires were not properly filled and uneven in PSI. The spare tire was obviously not checked and at a dangerously low 12 PSI. I am so horrified with their service, I will be contacting the Express Lube headquarters along with sending them a photo. read more

They fixed what they could (brakes, wipers, air filter) without hassling me to choose the most expensive options, and showed me what needed work that they couldn't do (tires). Can I rate at zero stars? I used to use this location quite a bit when I lived in the area. Now that I moved it less convenient but I still often find myself in the area and have brought a few cars there in the last year or so. Because of their location they are often less busy than a similar shop on Blackstone or Shaw. But now, I'll happily wait in line for competent service rather than quicker service that ends up costing me more money. They service my car, wrestling with my air cleaner telling me that I need to replace it maybe as the fasteners are tough to loosen due to over tightening. Ironically, they have been the only ones to service the car so.... I later got a check engine light, which I thought was unrelated. It wasn't. I have a smog test coming up, so I brought it in to get a quick oil change and see if they could tell me the code triggering the check engine light. I paid $20 for this and was told to change the front O2 sensor. I went next door to Oreilly, regurgitated what I was told and nearly $200 later, I'm on my way home with a new sensor and tools. After some research I decided to reverse course a bit. I never got an actual code from the tech, he just told me what to replace. The next day I returned what I had bought and got a cheapo code reader to see what was really going on. The code said it was running lean. Could mean a few things first being a vacuum leak. O2 sensor possibly too, but normally that would be indicated by another code (didn't get that one). I took the car to a mechanic (a neighbor of mine actually) and discovered the following. The air box was damaged due to over tightening. The fasteners just spun in their housing not allowing the screw to back out. So much so that it could not be opened, and though they checked the box saying they had checked the air filter, they could not have possibly done so the second time. Also, there was indeed a vacuum leak, from a disconnected hose probably from trying to wrestle with the air box the first time (they were the only ones that have messed with it). This caused the error code and the fact that they didn't see this when servicing it the second time, they advised me on the faulty sensor. Learned a few things from this that are obvious to most. Don't solicit automotive advice from somebody who's job is to change your wiper fluid. And if that guy gives it to you unsolicited, ignore him and find a mechanic. Also, take my business elsewhere. I certainly could have been a more proactive car owner and checked the code sooner, but they specifically caused the code, damaged my car, and gave me poor advice (that I was charged for) that could have cost me a lot of money. I would never ever use this location again. Incompetence does not begin to cover it. read more
