For the area that it is located in, Pizza Express is far above the other options. The pizza is a thin crust style with plenty of toppings and cheese. The Menu itself has plenty of options for food, ranging from wings and burgers to pizza to gyros. This could be bad or good, depending on how you look at it. By far, the best options for food are the pizza and the calzones. The pizza is a little more expensive than other options in town, but the amount of toppings and cheese make up for it. They also have a pretty tasty crust, which is usually well cooked. My personal favorite item is the calzone, they are really good there. They usually have the right balance of ricotta to mozz, and dont skimp on any other toppings you get with it. Their calzone is my personal favorite there, I get mine with pepperoni and sometimes bacon. The drawback the getting either pizza or a calzone is that the toppings are not the best quality. Because of this, they can be really greasy. The only other item that I've had there besides pizza or calzone is a burger and bacon cheddar fries. What a mistake, the burger was dismal. The lettuce was cooked into the cheese, leaving it warm and soggy. The burger patty was bland, and the whole thing was just a greasy mess. The fries were ok, but the bacon bits they used in it were thick and chewy, and had a strange consistency to me. I do not plan on ordering anything but a pizza or calzone from there again. Overall, Pizza Express is a good option for a decent pizza and a great calzone. They do sell pizza by the slice, and have really good takeout lunch specials you can order in store. Salad just about all you can ask for in a Greek, only thing left out were the tuscan peppers. .75 delivery charge. Charge seems to be more and more standard but varies among restaurants. If I understand the 'Great Star' owner correctly, customers often do not tip thus operators have no choice but to pass on their costs. Total was $22.00 even. Darn it! The cup of salad dressing slipped from my fingers and somehow gravitated toward the kitchen floor instead of righting itself back into pouring position. I am in the W Hartford area as a Kitchen Trainer opening the first Bar Louie in the great state of Connecticut, located in Blue Back Square, so I have a "little" bit of food experience... Pizza Express is of the very few places open until 11pm for dining in, carry out OR delivery...so I figured I'd give it a shot. My first experience was with the mango-hab wings, and a sausage and meatball grinder. The wings were not world beaters, but they were hot and crispy, but not dried out. The meatball and sausage grinder was good hot, as well as the next day cold. Their prices are reasonable, and their menu is pretty large. The delivery time was less than expected as well. Pizza Express New Britain Connecticut we just had the pizza delivery guy go through our mailbox while waiting for our roommate to come down and pay him I saw him from my window I called twice spoke to the manager and was told oh I'm sorry it'll never happen again and that it was no big deal. It is a big deal I called the Postmaster General in our area and was informed the only two people allowed to go in your mailbox is the mail carrier and yourself that the police can't even go in your mailbox ..... Very poor business practice.... The food was good I will have to say that however the way the manager spoke to me and the fact that the delivery guy feel free to go in my mailbox I have to wonder how many mailboxes he has gone through.... This is my go-to pizza place since a friend and I ordered some BBQ chicken pizza from here about a month ago. I've always been kinda meh at pizza TL;DR: Pizza Express is by far the best pizza/Italian food I've ever had in my entire life. Definitely one of the BEST, WELL MANAGED, GENUINELY CARING/passionate restaurants working with HIGH QUALITY INGREDIENTS that I have ever been to in my life. The food is MIND BLOWING and the management genuinely cares more about making good food for people out of ingredients that look, taste, and cook like they were bought at a local grocery store, than just making money and penny pinching to get as MUCH as possible. The sauces, bread/prep the chicken/other meats, and many other steps are made in house, by the chef and/or owner FRESH, rather than frozen ingredients. It's all been literally PERFECT - the pizzas and bread all had a firm, crispy outside, but wasn't burnt and was still soft on the inside. The BBQ AND pizza sauce are literally the PERFECT texture and flavor - smooth and kinda sticky when baked, nice and thick and creamy. Everything was properly portioned, not skimpy on meat/cheese/toppings, but also not overfilling it. Love this place! ive been coming here since i was a kid, used to make boxes for the owner growing up. the owner mike, is a sweet heart. he will talk to anyone about anything. all the workers are also super friendly. I love their pizza, especially when you order a new york style pizza. normally their pizza is a dish but you can order it flat on the brick oven and its to. die. for. the drivers are super fast and efficient. would never get pizza from anywhere else. bless up read more

I was turned off by this pizza when I opened the box. Way too greasy. I'm surprised it didn't seep through the bottom of the box. Unless you don't might using a paper towel to soak up the top of your pizza before eating, go elsewhere. This is my favorite pizza place in new britain. Unlike dominoes...they actually have quality toppings. Reading reviews people seem to complain about prices. I would rather pay a few extra dollars and get actual meat then fake processed food. But that's just me. They have lots of options and I've always gotten my food in the time they have told me. The owner is awesome and so friendly. Their NY style pizza is so yummy!! Definitely my fav!! Their wings are a good size too...they aren't skimpy little chicken wings...my favorite sauce is the sweet chili sauce...sooo tasty. Overall it's my favorite spot in new britain. I've been a loyal customer of Pizza Express for several years. Unfortunately, that ends today. I placed the order through Grub Hub and waited two hours for the delivery. When I called to check up on the order I was told by an employee (though you could hear a manager yelling from the background) they decided to not make my order because there was a lot of traffic in my area. Apparently them taking my money and not bringing me my food did not warrant a call. It seemed like the young woman who was answering the phone was caught in the middle, so I asked to speak to a manager and was told that there was a glitch in the system and I could not talk to him because he was very busy. When I asked for a refund or for them to make the pizza, their response was that no pizza would be made and I would have to call Grub Hub to get the refund. The end story, after having to make a call to Grub Hub, is that a glitch delayed the order the first hour and the second hour was their decision not to make my food, not to call me, and not to refund my money. Computer issues and events traffic I can understand, but their refusal to make it right and the complete lack of communication show a lack of regard for the customer. Overall, very disappointed in the service. read more
