My go to neighborhood salon! Love the team and the vibe and the ambiance!…read moreownership is wonderful and stylists are awesome! Makes me happy to come here and feel like a million bucks when I leave!

I booked at this salon after Ulta canceled my blowout last minute, so I decided to give this place…read morea chance. I honestly really regret it, especially considering I paid around $60+ after tax. This was easily one of the worst experiences I've had at a hair salon, and it was absolutely not worth the price. The bad experience honestly started at the front desk. The girl working up front was not welcoming whatsoever and came across like she had an attitude and genuinely did not want to be there. For me, the front desk is one of the most important parts of a salon because that person is literally the first impression a customer gets when they walk in. If I'm paying money for a service, I expect good customer service. I don't expect to walk in and immediately feel like my presence is an inconvenience. Having that be the first interaction already felt unprofessional and set the tone for the rest of the experience. Then the younger girl with glasses who did my hair was just as unwelcoming. She barely spoke to me, never introduced herself, never asked how I was doing, and made almost no conversation throughout the appointment. I don't even remember her name because there was basically no introduction or interaction. I explained that I wanted a blowout with loose, Hollywood-style curls and volume. What I ended up with initially looked like my hair had simply been blow-dried and not properly styled or brushed out. I was genuinely so disappointed. I was getting my hair done specifically for an event that night, and I could have gotten better results at home using my own rollers. The entire reason I pay to have my hair professionally styled is because I expect the result to be BETTER than what I can do myself. Another thing I really disliked was how it felt like every tiny additional request suddenly became a major extra charge. I understand charging extra for an actual elaborate updo, braids, or something that requires significant additional work. But something as simple as putting the hair half-up can apparently turn into an "updo" charge that adds a significant amount to the service. It felt excessive, especially when the original blowout itself wasn't giving me the results I requested. Thankfully, another stylist named Jessica stepped in to help. She was extremely nice and actually tried to fix the situation. Since the brush styling wasn't giving the desired result, she curled my hair and suggested pinning the curls so they could set until later that evening. I appreciated her effort and followed her instructions exactly. I literally went to a restaurant and spent hours out in public with my entire head pinned because I wanted to give the style the best possible chance to set before my event, which wasn't until around 10-11 PM. When I finally took the pins out, my hair did look pretty, but it still wasn't what I originally asked for. It didn't have the volume or overall look I had expected based on what was explained to me, so after everything, I was still disappointed. Jessica did mention that I should come back and that I would be a good model for long layers. I specifically explained that maintaining my length is extremely important to me because it has taken me YEARS to grow my hair this long. I said I might be interested as long as my length stayed where it was. Later, she mentioned taking about two inches off. That immediately confirmed for me that I would not be coming back for a haircut either. If I specifically say I do not want to lose my length, suggesting taking two inches off is exactly the kind of thing that makes me nervous about trusting someone with my hair. Overall, I'm glad Jessica stepped in because she was kind and genuinely tried to help, but the overall experience was disappointing, overpriced, and not something I would repeat. Customer service matters, especially when you're paying salon prices, and I shouldn't feel unwelcome from the second I walk through the door. Between the attitude at the front desk, the lack of customer service from my original stylist, the disappointing initial result, the additional charges for seemingly minor styling requests, and feeling like what I was asking for wasn't really being listened to, I definitely will not be returning.

Big Derek Fan. Been with him ~5 years. His flexibility with scheduling has been the best. His…read moreservices and skills even better. :-)

A few weeks ago, after reading the reviews and having been familiar with the Frederic Fekkai…read moresalons, I came for a 1" trim to my long-time, blunt-cut, medium-length (3 inches below the chin), slightly angled bob, beveled a bit underneath at the nape. It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.
