Before the move, I had confirmed that I needed my things packed with the office staff three times: once via email and in two separate phone calls. When the movers arrived with no boxes or packing supplies, I had to run around shoving my belongings (including my dishes!) into garbage bags. It was a rough start to my very long day of driving a moving van across the country! I provided feedback to New City Moving about this problem twice, once via email and another via their text survey. There was no way we could have unpacked and organized our kitchen and bathrooms over the next few weeks, which is what their team excelled to do in less than a day. Mackenzie was very responsive starting from original quote to appointment day. Because of this they came fully prepared and we feel every minute they used here was optimized to the fullest. This is not a professional company. Do not hire them if you want yourself or your belongings safe. During our move, which happened during a light snowfall, our mattress wasn't wrapped as tightly as it could have been, and it was placed in such a way in the truck that it absorbed quite a bit of water (see photos). When mentioned to the crew, one man, whom I had already asked not to smoke near our furniture, became combative. Requests for that individual to calm down and not even rude or yell at us in our own home, turned to the man informing us he was off the clock and shouting in our front yard to the point where we had to ask him to leave our property- he then sat in the truck leaving the other two to do all the work. When it came time to settle the bill, we called the office (no response) to discuss the damages and a 2 vs 3 person rate. We asked the crew to have her get in touch with us. While I was on the phone with Melanie, business owner/customer service, the remaining crew started yelling at and then threatened my fiancé, shouting that they would call the police for us refusing to pay- we were not, we were discussing the damage and the crew member who walked off the job. The crew manager informed me that he was Melanie's boss and he'd just call the police. Melanie heard all this, called them and sorted it out. The yelling and the threats were terrifying and unprofessional. This is not how you treat customers and is a horrible reflection of the "business." Do your research and go with someone more reputable and safe.
