I have used Vitesse twice now. Once to move between units in the same building and another time to move into a different neighborhood. Both times they were quick and treated my furniture with care! Also, both times the cost ended up being lower than the estimate which is always great. Also, Melissa answered all of my questions quickly via email throughout the process. Only feedback is it would be great to receive a confirmation email the night prior. read more

The company was completely unresponsive for the 2 weeks before my move - I was not able to confirm so had to book other movers 4 days before the move. Not being able to reach anyone at the company (I called and emailed multiple times a day) was very concerning and unprofessional. I reached out 1.5 months before my move to reserve a slot. The price was better than competitors and I was recommended Vitesse by a friend and was impressed by the reviews. They were pretty responsive at the beginning, but in the weeks leading up to it, I kept calling and hitting their voicemail and they were not responding to my emails. I have no idea what's going on at the company but I still have not heard from anyone. read more

This is a late review regarding a move I had an August. I did search for several moving quotes. I have to say that Vitesse Moving was very receptive to my many questions and emails. They provided accurate pricing and were great to work with. On the day of my move I was a bit concerned because they had unmarked smaller moving trucks. The owner did call me before their arrival mentioning that they decided to send two trucks along with an extra guy after reviewing my order. I think we are all glad that was done! The movers were extremely hard-working, efficient and fabulous to work with. I have moved more times than I want to remember both from the suburbs and throughout the city and this was the best move I've ever had. Both the owner and Melissa we're fabulous to work with. We had an amazing move experience with Vitesse! We moved from Chicago to Charlotte. Alex and his team showed up in Chicago on time and hustled to get all of our stuff safely wrapped and loaded onto the truck, which included going up and down multiple flights of stairs. We ended up needing additional space, and Alex was able to quickly get another truck to our house for loading. Alex and team made it to Charlotte with our belongings in under two days. In Charlotte, we had two drop off locations, and Alex and the local team he used were quick and helped make sure the right items got to the right place. Melissa, who helped coordinate, was also great and so helpful. I could not recommend Vitesse enough - it was a perfect move experience. I've waited 2-3 weeks to write this review so I wouldn't let emotion cloud my judgment. TLDR: Regardless of who you choose, ALWAYS PICK THE FIRST SHIFT so your movers are well rested and energized. Also, CONFIRM your move in date. Background: we used Vitesse 7 years ago when we moved to South Loop and it was a positive experience. Movers were great and nothing broke. So it made sense to use them again, especially after we received quotes from other companies and they were reasonably priced. Mid-May: Initially we wanted to move on Tuesday, June 20th to give us plenty of time to pack so we scheduled it and received a prelim invoice via email. Mid-June: We were so efficient in packing that we decided to move it up to Friday, June 16 and our building's elevator was available. We called and confirmed the new date. Everything was set. Did not receive an updated prelim invoice (important for later). Friday, June 16: Movers were supposed to arrive at 1PM. We start looking out the window at 12:30pm in anticipation. Then 1pm, then 1:30pm. No show. We're calling and texting Vitesse wondering what's going on. Unfortunately our rescheduled date never fully processed in the system or else we would have received an updated prelim invoice and the movers clocked out for the day. However, they could fit us the next day. We were frustrated that we had to wait another day. But we quickly let the building know we didn't need the elevator and was able to reserve it again for tomorrow. We should have called the day prior to confirm. Our mistake. Saturday, June 17: deja Vu all over again. We're looking out the window at 12:30, 1pm, 1:30, etc. We're calling and texting Vitesse because no one has considered to call us. Dispatcher says they'll be late and arrive around 2:30pm! They were stuck in traffic from the previous move. 2:30pm rolls around and they're still not here. We call Dispatch and they're shocked as well. They call the truck and they're "5 mins away". They finally arrive at 2:45pm, almost 2 hours late. By this time, we've lost almost 50% of our elevator reservation (4 hours). For every hour we exceed our elevator reservation, we have to pay an additional $75. So an extra 2 hours and $150 later, we're finally packed and out of the building. We arrive at our new home and the guys are moving boxes accordingly. We bought them pizza because they were running on fumes and it's hard work! But they were pleasant to work with and very polite. My largest criticism is the lack of foresight and communication from the business. It was our mistake to assume that Friday's move was 100% confirmed. We should have called prior. HOWEVER, for all actions and activities that happened on Saturday was unacceptable. Not knowing where your workers are until a customer complains? It feels like common decency to even tell a friend you're going to be 15-20 mins late but almost 2 hours for a paying customer?! After reading the reviews mostly positive, I was actually interested in speaking with them about their negative reviews because, yes there are two sides to every story. Vitesse is ideal for a smaller 2 bedroom move, but anything larger, not so much. We've used the co. twice in two months (3x overall) and our reason for doing so is because the movers do a really good job and the sales folks who manage emails and phone messages for a quite and reservation are responsive during the booking phase. On the other hand, there's been a disconnect between dispatch and the office staff with respect to sending the right truck size for the job. The trucks are SMALL resulting in too much time spent trying to make it all fit. For the first move, we used a different company to move the items from a home to storage. That company loaded up a three level home and garage contents in 2.5 hours with four guys. With Vitesse, the same items required two trips and considerably more time because the movers were trying to fit it in one shot. What's frustrating is on each occasion I fully completed the inventory sheet. I spoke with Melissa no fewer than 4 times about the truck size because in my opinion her allotment (cubic feet) for the items was inaccurate! I was repeatedly assured the 24ft would be sent. We received a box truck. After paying for 9 hours the first time, I specifically asked for a larger truck than before and received confirmation. Yet, the crew showed up with a small truck, forcing us to pay extra labor time while the crew tried to complete it in one trip. I was told their larger truck was broken. We would've delayed our move by a week or to avoid the add'l expense (labor and time taken out of our day). Entirely too much time was spent trying to make everything fit in the small box truck. The recording of cubic feet makes no sense. It says six dining room chairs is 5 cu ft. It's the very reason I repeatedly called and emailed Melissa to confirm i'd get a 24 ft truck. When I raised the issue with the driver, he told me to take it up with Melissa. Melissa said she requested a 24 ft truck as we agreed and that she was never told it couldn't be honored. The movers took their time and exhibited great care with our belongings each time. My only wish is that we were informed beforehand that they would not wear face masks, especially during the recent spike in cases! (When we booked I asked for the same move crew from Aug bc they knew our home and did a great job. In response, I was told they do NOT keep a record of which movers work each job which makes contact tracing near impossible! In our case, we remembered the foreman's name so he was sent with two new guys. *The Aug crew didn't wear masks either which we didn't make a big deal about bc the cases were much lower. We wore them*.) I used Vitesse in March 2020 and again in December 2023. They came as a recommendation from a friend. After I used them I referred another friend to use Vitesse, and he was also extremely satisfied. This review is for my most recent move. They were INCREDIBLY accommodating with my needing to change the date of the move multiple times. It was stressful for me and I felt awful, but Melissa worked her magic and made it happen. The guys were polite and efficient. Moved a 1600 SF 3br third floor walk up to a second floor walk up. It started raining almost immediately when they arrived and rained throughout the entire job. The move took two hours longer than estimated, but I was not surprised given the massive amount of stuff that I had to be moved and the really brutal walk up situation. I also think we lost an hour due to an unforeseen issue that required something very complicated to be disassembled before it could be taken out of the room. (I did ask if the crew could split during that time and take one of the trucks to the new spot to start unloading, but they said that wasn't a great idea. I do think that would have saved an hour of work, but I believe they had concerns about the communication abilities if the foreman wasn't with one of the teams.) But look, before I found Vitesse I have hired movers for small jobs who've charged $500 for less than an hour of work. The fact that my 8.5 hour move with Vitesse cost $1600 when everything was all said and done, I didn't have to do a thing the day of and felt NO stress or anxiety about their management of things, seemed totally reasonable to me. It was a five man team with two trucks. They wrapped all my vintage furniture and didn't nick a corner or wall at all while navigating through narrow hallways. My computer monitors and art all arrived in perfect shape. They removed doors when necessary and really just did an awesome job. Because of the weather, things did get brought in wet. And the floors were filthy after everything was done--but that is NOT their issue. The foreman was the only one who seemed conscientious about wiping items down and making everything nice, but I don't really fault the guys. As I was just standing around and telling them where to put things, it was easy enough for me to dry anything that was wet. Because my furniture and valuables were all wrapped, nothing was at risk of damage. At least one of the guys vaped and there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke on things the night they were brought in, but it was mild and disappeared by the next day. And truly, the effort and work that went into this move, I can't see any reason to hold any of that against them. I'm surprised to see the negative reviews here. I would unreservedly recommend them to anyone asking for movers. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Movers showed 5 hours late, moved 2 boxes (literally) and then quit the job, stating they were "too tired." That is a direct quote. Company's prior response to this review cited 2 explanations, both of which are deceptive: 1) I did not have more inventory than I provided to them for the quote a month ago, 2) it was a walk up (they knew this, and it was on the quote). There has never been an acceptable explanation from this company about why it sent 2 people after they quoted based on 4, and there never will be. They offered to move us the next day, but I fired them because you don't get my money when you leave a family in the lurch. I have used this company many times before - BEWARE - this is how they treat a repeat customer. Unprofessional. Combative. Deceptive. One star. Do not recommend. We hired Vitesse to do our long distance move from downtown Chicago to Houston, Texas. After contacting them through yelp and going over some details Alex came by our place to do an inventory. The quote they gave us was very reasonable. The day before the move, Melissa, called us and went over final details for moving day. We were able to pay all but $500 to a credit card (there is a 3% fee for credit card payments). Alex called a little while later to confirm which day we wanted delivery is Houston. They were going to pick up our stuff on a Wednesday and we asked them to delivery it Sunday. Moving day: Alex and two other gentlemen arrived on time and ready to go. They wrapped up all the furniture in blankets and then wrapped it with a plastic wrap. They work very quickly and efficiently. It took them 90 minutes from start to finish which I thought was super quick for packaging up furniture and loading up a truck for a 950 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment. I'm not sure why other reviewers felt they were "slow". Delivery Day: The truck arrived within 10 minutes of when Alex had told me they'd arrive. The driver of the truck didn't help with unloading the truck because he had just driven from Chicago. Instead two other local gentlemen who came in a different car unloaded all our stuff. They took about 2 hours to do everything. Overall these are GREAT movers. Alex and his entire team were super friendly and easy to deal with. They are responsive and honest. The price they quoted me was exactly what we paid, no hidden fees or added charges at the end. What I really LOVED about these movers is that it's door to door service. There is no transferring of your stuff from a crate to a truck to a trailer, etc and they don't combining your stuff with another customers stuff. This really made all the difference for us. First exceptional action was getting me an appointment on April 29 when I only gave them four days notice. Melissa moved heaven and earth to get this date for me. The movers arrived at the time specified and took care of everything I needed, including moving my unwanted furniture to the back of the house for pick-up. This was the second time I use this company for a move. They did such a good job the first time and were reasonably priced that I didn't give a second thought in hiring them again. The movers arrived 20 mins after the start time which at first I was concerned but since it was only 20mins I let it slide. There were 3 movers, two of which didn't speak any English and the third spoke very little English. This is an issue when giving them direction or even being able to read the writing on the boxes such as fragile or glass. They placed my boxes marked fragile under boxes with heavier items, luckily none of my glass items broke. I also don't get why my colored cream couch wasn't wrapped with plastic as they did the first time so it got dirty on one arm and there was a small rip at the bottom which I didn't notice until the next day. My dresser came back chipped and also didn't notice til the next day. I believe the movers are inexperienced and only one of them kinda knew what he was doing but took way too long assembling two beds. Again, the first move the guys assembled a lot quicker. One of the movers was very young, I think he was in training so he needed to be told what to do almost always which took away time from the other movers. He actually moved my garbage and was getting ready to put three bags of garbage in the truck when I realized I ran out of the house and had him dig through the big moving box to find them. I specifically told them not to take the garbage but they didn't understand me and the only guy who spoke English probably forgot to mention it to the others. The guys took exactly 6 hours to move a two bedroom apartment. I am very disappointed because I had a great experience the first time. The guys were not approachable, they were exhausted halfway though and the language barrier didn't help. I spent way too much money on this move and unfortunately I will not be using this company again. Update: I responded to their email earlier this week, I was extremely busy with the move and had to leave on vacation soon after not to mention my child's recital and graduation all during the first two weeks after the move. I shared pictures with them as it pertains to the chipped armoire, rip on couch cover and dirt stains on my couch. I have yet to hear back from them. read more

Vitesse moved 4 units within our family in one day seamlessly. Melissa understood our needs immediately and caught on so quickly to what we needed and suggested ways to cut down on time and costs. They handled it like champs. Wrapped everything very well, only had to direct them as to where to go and what to grab and they handled everything else. They told us 4 movers would be better than 3 and you need to understand that they are trying to save you money, NOT upswell you. So understand that they are NOT trying to make you overpay, it's the opposite, they want this done as quickly, efficiently, and for as cheap as possible for you. For several work and pandemic-related reasons, I found myself calling dozens of companies for a move date 8 days out, 800 miles away. As soon as Melissa picked up the phone and we began chatting, I knew I was going to be in good hands. A few days before the move, when I realized I wasn't going to get all of the packing done, I called back and got 3 guys to come out the night before to help me pack up the final bits. The price was completely reasonable, and Alex was incredibly fair when handling my disorganization in the 11th hour, including showing up himself early the morning of the move day to help me out even more. The entire crew was pleasant, professional and friendly, working quickly and carefully, and went the extra mile in just about every aspect. The moving company that was supposed to meet them at my new place didn't show, and Vitesse scrambled to find another one. I'm not sure the name of the company, but they were great too. Super fast and organized, and friendly - especially the one who seemed to be the "leader" of the crew. It was a little annoying to have to wait for that to get sorted out- but stuff happens, and Alex, Melissa and Constantine were very communicative, providing consistent, frequent updates. I felt like the team was personally invested in the success of my move. I'd use them again in a heartbeat. read more

This was a well planned move by me, (they agreed to be at the pickup location by 8AM as they had to drive across the state) but the planned one day turn around turned into a night in the hotel while waiting for our home goods and then another ten days to complete the move when they had to go back (to a rental we had left) and retrieve something they couldn't get out (though I was assured more than once that they could). Thankfully we had a friend who could help and the landlord was kind enough to let us finish. The moving company itself cut $50. off and never followed up on reimbursing us for the hotel. This all happened in Oct 2018. Yelp is a nag. To summarise: Arrived late. Truck broke down. Spent a tense few moments wanting payment even though move was not completed. Movers showed up right on time, very friendly, and impressed with how fast they were. They completed my move from my apartment into a storage unit in slightly under 2 hours, so I paid just the minimum hours, not the quote you get, since the quote is usually an overshot. I live in a 3rd floor walk-up and the company and I both agreed that getting 3 movers (instead of 2) would be better, since stairs can be tiring. Re: Long-distance moving quotes: So, everything started out well with the moving coordinator, who was super responsive. I provided her a detailed inventory list, to which she provided guidance on how they designated a driver and truck per long distance move (instead of consolidating my stuff with others like most long-distance moving companies). I was ready to move forward with them because they are very competitively priced, have nice straightforward terms & conditions, and had the designated one driver/one truck... That is, until I asked for clarification about their DOT Interstate License being INACTIVE on the website: https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/CompanySnapshot.aspx She stated that it didn't matter because they used three licensed drivers for long distance moves that work exclusively for them have their individual BIPD and US DOT licenses. When I inquired if she would be able to provide the license of the driver that would be designated for my move (as I am told that my stuff could get held over at a weigh station for inspection without the DOT Interstate License) in the paperwork since my moving contract would be with Vitesse as my unlicensed mover of record, she responded reactively and defensively. She stated that she would have no idea which driver would be driving my move...One continuous paragraph of sentences... "I have explained several times how this works....Please when you are checking on companies make sure you have the correct information so you can get the correct answers" and that she already signed up two long distance clients and would not be able to fit me in for my desired date. I was not expecting that kind of response. In just a matter of an email, she sent a quote and then a nasty email because I asked a question. I would not ask a question if I knew the answer! The DOT site guide https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move/search-mover says that moving companies put their DOT license # on their website, and Vitesse doesn't. So, if she had provided me a clear explanation of how Vitesse didn't require the DOT Interstate License and that my property wouldn't be subject to holdup because of it, then it would have been fine. Perhaps the explanation was too complicated, so it was easier for her to send me a cranky response. That was a very unpleasant experience that I don't ever wish upon anyone else. read more

Some things were good about my Vitesse Moving experience but more things that were not. The aspects I can compliment are: - During the initial quote and sales process, Vitesse was very responsive and fast. Their method of sharing a quote online is efficient. They make good use of digital tools to share a quote. - The movers were very good. They were easy to work with and willing to go the extra mile. For example, due to some timing problems (described below), we were going to lose access to an elevator in a building, and they offered to carry our goods up to the 7th floor if they had to. (They did not, nor would I have asked them to, but that's pretty admirable.) The frustrations I experienced were considerable. I should note that I've moved seven times in ten years, so I've had A LOT of moving experiences, and I felt this was the most stressful and unpleasant move we've had. I have a firm belief from all that moving experience that movers have two jobs--one is to move my stuff physically, and the other is to provide confidence and reduce stress, and I cannot say Vitesse succeeded in the second. The aspects that I felt were lacking: - This was a 90-mile local move from and to highrise buildings. Buildings like that have very specific and narrow timeslots for using the elevator. I impressed upon Vitesse at every step of the way--from sales to communications a week before to a dialog the night before--the importance of timeliness. They showed up almost two hours late. This threw the entire day into a series of stressful situations where I had to beg for flexibility from the managers of buildings. At one point, we were even looking at having to store items overnight and hire a new moving crew to move us in the next day, all because their delay threatened our ability to move in the necessary (and communicated) timeframes. - Because the timing of this move was so specific, I asked Vitesse to INCREASE the quote. I felt we needed a four-person moving team, not three (and the sales rep agreed). I also thought we needed more time and asked Vitesse to add more hours and increase the quote. My point here is that I bent over backward to be fair to Vitesse, to arrange precisely what we needed for this move, and to pay more for better service. After increasing the quote to four movers and confirming we'd have four movers several times, Vitesses showed up with a three-person team. So, in addition to our two-hour late start, the small squad only contributed to more problems and stress. - Finally, communications with Vitesse was relatively weak, in my opinion. I tried to keep the lines of communication before the move, even providing a brief two-page document for the movers so they'd know where our loading docks were located and would have the specifics of our elevator times. Often, I'd get no response from Vitesse to my email messages. Also, they promised a call the day before, and I had to initiate the call since I had not heard from them. Then, they promised a call the morning of the move, and once again, with the movers late, I had to initiate the call to make sure the move was still happening. Moreover, when it became evident the movers were late and the team was smaller than we had agreed, I started having a string of unpleasant communications. I was, of course, pretty upset and stressed, so I admit I wasn't at my best, but the responses from Vitesse were not what I'd consider appropriate for a service provider charging me over $1,000. For example, they asked for MY sympathy for THEIR challenges ("Most everyone we move this time of the month have elevator times. It is also the busiest time of the year. These movers have been working from 6am to 1am for the past 4 days. We have lost a few from sickness, injuries and exhaustion. That is the main reason for the crew reduction.") When I said we had a contract, they responded, "A quote is just that, a quote. Nothing is set in stone, not even the rate. A quote is not a contract." (When you enter into an agreement with a moving company, is this what you expect? That nothing on the "quote" is set in stone, and that the company can change ANYTHING, including the rate? It's not what I expect!) Then, when it became evident we couldn't hit the elevator times and I started pushing for a solution (such as if they could add people at our destination or could we keep the items on the truck and complete the move the next day), they told me, "this constant blame is certainly not helping." I would not use Vitesse again. When I pay a company over $1,000, I do expect timely communications, a commitment to provide what we agreed at the schedule to which we committed, and a company that does not, during a stressful moving day, tell me that I need to stop blaming them for the fact they failed to provide the services to which we agreed in the detailed quote. I'd hire those same moving guys again, just not the moving company. read more

A good friend recommend them to me but the end result was a mistake. The actual movers themselves were super awesome and quick. Online before the move they have you fill out what they're moving etc but they moved things that were not listed as well. Some of my items were lost and broken. They charged me immediately after the move and then 6 months later charged me again claiming that I never paid. This entire exchange happened via text. read more

I first used Vitesse in 2021 and was really pleased with the crew at the time that were fast and the lead guy seemed to know what he was doing and directed his two other guys on what to do. I recommended Vitesse to a friend, who then used them in 2022 and had a much different experience with them due to the crew that showed up all being very inexperienced and caused her move to be a lot longer than it should have been. I decided to tempt fate and go ahead and use them for my move for June (2023) hoping that their guys had enough experience now that I'd not have a similar issue. Boy was I wrong! While I don't actually blame the young guys that showed up, I'm more disappointed in the company itself for continuing to send out poorly trained crews that needs lots of direction. The crew that showed up for me were 3 Ukrainian men and at least one was a refugee (he's the only one that spoke enough English to understand most of what I said). He struggled due to back pain (more on that later) so I think that slowed them down a lot. Luckily my friend (the one that used them in 2022) is Russian and understands enough Ukrainian to have been able to direct them. She asked the leader why he didn't have a back support belt to help and he just rolled his eyes and said the company wouldn't spend money on them for the crews to use. (That is totally ridiculous if true). I won't be using them again due to this experience. There is a reason why they were lower priced, and next time I'll spend a little more to make sure I have an experienced and professional crew show up. read more

Vitesse is the moving company I wish I had used. Learn from my mistake and use Vitesse. I spent weeks researching options for a Chicago to Washington State move. Melissa was super responsive and helpful on the phone and via email, answering all my questions promptly. Alex came to confirm the size truck I would need and price the move. In hindsight, his was by far the most accurate estimate of all the companies. They provided the most simple and risk free option - all my stuff on a 20 foot truck, directly from current home to future home. No transfers, no lost boxes, no worrying about weight. I made the wrong decision and chose a giant national firm thinking it would be more flexible and cost less, but they tried to charge me extra for weight and load AFTER a binding estimate. read more

I waited a while before posting this because I wanted to ensure to do the due diligence & state this based on facts. I have moved yearly for the past 3 years and this was the first time that we leverage their services. A year ago when we moved we had two places where items needed to be picked up as well as two drop off points: a storage unit and the new apartment. This year we had one pick up and one drop off and fewer items... In 2018 with what I mentioned above it took 3 men a total of 6hours to complete everything In 2019, leveraging this service it took 9.5hours A few things I believe contributed: 1. finding the two men that were supposedly packing the truck taking smoke breaks 2. Being unorganized- once all items were finally out of the unit we needed to help the crew re-pack the truck as there was everything was scattered all over and couldn't fit This was by far the worst experience thirst we have ever had with any service. The crew continued to complain that we needed 4 men. My question is why? Why do need an extra person with fewer items and fewer stops? We didn't need more men, we needed a better team. read more

I am a bit of a nomad and have utilized Vitesse for my last four relocations with #5 approaching rapidly. Vitesse has become my go-to company to assist with my moving needs because of their reliability, professionalism, pride in their work and the care/precautions taken to ensure the protection of my belongings. I am truly grateful for the outstanding and stress-free service that I always receive from them. Are they the best moving company in the business? I don't know. But what I do know is that Vitesse has proven to be the best for me. read more

We did a long-distance move with Vitesse and were super impressed, especially given all the horror stories you hear about people's prices going up and their stuff being held hostage. Maybe the quote is a bit higher at the outset, but you can assured that a flat rate is a safe rate. We did end up paying $400 more for labor than originally quoted ($200 on each side), but we had about 50% more boxes than originally estimated, so it was more than fair. This was less than 10% of our price, for reference. As for the quality of the move itself, not a thing was broken by the movers and the guys packing us up in Chicago were fast and thorough. The local guys they coordinated for unloading where we moved were impressed and said so. We did have a bit of miscommunication about timelines, but once we were actually doing the move, everything ran flawlessly. We had and infant and pets, so that was stressful enough, and Vitesse made the rest of it stress free. I can not recommend these movers enough. read more

Not bad considering how much worse it could have been. I think most of us have heard some moving horror stories. I've been fortunate for the most part to either move myself or hire a local contractor. This was the first time I had to hire a professional moving company, but since I have lots of stuff and very little time, I figured the investment was well worth it. I was able to hire Vitesse a couple of weeks before my move, which is relatively short notice. I did speak with a number of different moving companies. Vitesse came in at the cheapest, given the Yelp deal, but it wasn't so cheap that it raised red flags. The representative on the phone was very nice and helpful and answered all my questions. They were very flexible with arranging payment, etc. The actual move itself wasn't the best experience, but it was okay. For the amount of furniture I have, I was quoted a 2 hour move with a 3 man crew. It ended up being 5 hours. The day of the move, the movers showed up over an hour late. I didn't receive any notice and had to call after 20 minutes of no movers. The dispatch said they were finishing up a small job and would be in my area shortly. They arrived exhausted and in a bad mood. We did a quick walk through, then they started to move my stuff downstairs. A few times I noticed one of the workers sitting on a chair fanning himself with his shirt off while the other 2 did most of the work. When I asked the lead guy about it, he said he was okay. He told me they came straight from the other job, didn't get a chance to eat lunch, and that the other job was much bigger than they expected. Another awkward moment was when they weren't able to get my bed down the stairs and kept telling me there was no way they would be able to even though clearly it came up the stairs at one point. They were arguing among themselves and I had to get involved to help them figure out how to take it down. It was basically just figuring out the correct angles, which they couldn't seem to figure out for quite awhile. Kind of weird... Finally, we were all packed and headed to the second location. The unpacking was much smoother, but they were complaining the entire time, especially the guy that kept sitting earlier. Apparently, their manager was trying to send them to another location in the suburbs right after and they were adamantly opposed to the idea. I mean, I get it. It sounded like an awful idea, but I really didn't need to hear about all of that. They were complaining about how they're treat, cursing up a storm, and just generally disgruntled. Meanwhile, we're over the original quoted time and I just wanted to be done with everything. They finally unpacked everything and then the final awkward moment came when they gave me my invoice. They tried to charge me extra for packing supplies, which I didn't request. Further, when I spoke with the representative prior to hiring Vitesse, I was informed that there was no charge for that and that it was all included. I told the person handling the invoice as much and he started to get irritated with me and kept pushing me to pay it. I told him I would not because they said there was no charge for that so he had to get on the phone to call the manager - the same manager that was trying to send them to the next location. The manager gets on the phone and tells me I need to pay and that the representative gave me incorrect information. We're talking about a minimal amount here, but considering I was given false information, I was absolutely not going to pay it. I reminded him that as a representative of his company, he should honor what the customer was promised and he finally agreed. Still, awkward and no one likes to be up-charged at the last minute. In the end, it took Vitesse's 3 man crew 5 hours for a 1 bedroom move from Logan Square to the Loop, and my final cost was $623.15. They cracked a mirror and scratched and ripped some things, but other than that most of my stuff arrived safely. My biggest complaint was the unprofessionalism of the crew and the misquote. I don't blame the guys for being exhausted, but I question how this company is run by management. I probably wouldn't hire them again. read more
