My unit was broken into, along with several others. We have no idea when this occurred as they did not follow their own security protocols. The onsite manager refused to make a police report. Precious documents from my deceased father were stolen- I am absolutely heartbroken over this loss. For the amount of money I paid every month for an inside, secured locker, with supposed security, I am just beside myself. I strongly suggest finding another facility to store your items. read more

55.56% rent increase after 3 months! Ongoing issue with locks being cut and items stolen from units. DO NOT RENT A UNIT HERE! Three months after I moved in, I received a notice that my monthly rent would increase by 55.56%. The notice stated that my "promotional rate" had ended and they were adjusting the rent to "reflect the current market." I did not have a "promotional rate," I had an internet rate, and nowhere did my lease indicate a rate increase after 3 months. Theft is rampant here. Most of the thefts occur on Sunday because there is nobody in the office on that day. This is the day I usually go to my unit. The first Sunday after I moved in, the lock on my unit was cut. All I had in there at the time were papers and photos - nothing worth stealing. The next Sunday, I observed 2 people moving items over the back exit gate, including a new TV in a box, designer tennis shoes, and sports equipment. I called the manager on Monday and he was well aware that this had happened as there is a camera at the back gate. He knew who the thieves were as they had done this in the past. They climb over the back gate, cut locks with bolt cutters, and steal anything of value. Stay away from this place. read more

Buyer Beware, I got a good price on the internet for a 10x10 unit and within a few months the price increased almost $100 dollars for no apparent reason. In addition, they do NOT prorate your unit. Exactly 3months later I got a notice in the mail saying for the exact same storage unit the fee was going up to $108. More than 50% increase, to keep up with taxes in Concord Monument of all places. Jax is the un reliable, uneducated brown noser I have ever met. You can't scratch your ass here without someone checking the rule book to measure the distance of hand to ass. Taking pictures of my things, banging on my door when I have it shut to enjoy moving my personal things and testing equipment to make sure it still works in PRIVACY. They don't care about that here. When I moved to the bay area I needed a storage place and this one was close to where I lived and looked clean. Some folks have mentioned that the units rental price would go up. I did experience the same thing, however, for how clean the facility is, and how friendly Mike has always been, the added cost didnt seem like a huge negative. I think mine went up $25. Perhaps it would be good to know up front that the price will go up. To be honest, I don't remember if that topic was discussed but considering I'm normally one to hop and holler when I feel like I'm being cheated, I have to assume that it was something I knew would come up. Operating on expired elevator permits... this permit expired in January 2020 and it is December 2022... the facilities smell bad and they raise their prices without notifying the customer buy nearly $50-$70 in one month. $88 went to $130 and climbing. read more

5x10 was $80 per month when i moved in. They have raised the rates so im now paying 200 per month. That's unacceptable Also the manager won't let anyone place anything in the hallway To organize/clean their units. If I want to get my motorcycle helmet in the back of my locker, I have to show up with a U-Haul and move everything in the front of my locker into the U-Haul. And then put everything back when I'm done. If my rates are not readjusted and lowered I'm vacating my unit. Have been renting there for over 2 years always clean and well lit. The elevators smell good too. Lost the key to my lock and they helped me out lickety split. Saved me all kinds of money on having a locksmith come out to cut the lock off. Super friendly and helpful. Mike and the office gal helped navigate paperwork and emails with 3 family members involved with one rental space. Super helpful!!! The best!!! For a corporate storage facility it is what it is . Good location and clean . However it's seems to be every two months they are raising the rent to way high prices . Which has me in awe because their elevators are over two years past there last inspection date . High prices and unmaintained equipment are a no go . read more

Now, a few months later, they sent mt a sneaky letter in the mail telling me I received a "promotional rate" and then proceeded to tell me my rate was going up almost $100 a month. Customer service Monday/ Memorial Day was poor. Access gate was left open / unsecured. Office appeared to be closed. Googled & Called the main number to speak with someone (this location's voicemail was full & not accepting any more messages. Nor did it refer you to another number to call). Reported gate. Was told a message would be sent to staff who were supposed to be on site. Awhile later, as I went to use the restroom, the gate was secured. Restroom had no toilet paper. Banged on office door (which now had a Back At xx :xx sign posted). Before giving up, As I was flipping off the door due to no response, door opened. Was told by the staff that he would refill tp when his lunch was over. Asked when, response was in 25 minutes. Now, this tp dispenser was one of those double giant roll dispensers with space for two huge rolls. Both were empty. Checking the supply daily seems reasonable to me. Responding immediately to a need for tp also seems reasonable to me. Must not be to Extra Storage Space staff. Very disappointed. Would leave & find another facility if I had the means to do so. My previous experience with Michael at this location has always been pleasant and satisfying. Unfortunately, Michael was not working the holiday. read more

My unit was broken into, and I understand that there are break-ins everywhere. I know I have to accept the consequence as I did not use a reliable lock myself. However, I have been using the same type of lock in the past 7 years and never had a problem with it. Therefore, the main purpose of this post is to let readers know how often these things happen at this facility. I hope that customers share their experience more often so that the reviews here reflect the reality better. There are other posts about break-ins as well, so readers may want to keep track of the frequency of thefts if this is one of your concerns. The thief broke my lock and took stuff out. After that, he/she replaced my lock with another lock so that the theft was not discovered until I visited my unit again a couple months after my previous visit. I wonder why the staff always put a sticker on our locks. I suppose a lock without a sticker signals that a new lock has been placed. This is actually a good practice as it can provide evidence in a case like this. How could a lock be replaced without the customer being there? I believe the code we enter at the gate can provide a record of the customers visiting the facility every day. However, if there is no follow-up after the staff discovers a new lock, then what is the purpose of putting the sticker on the lock? What I am trying to say is that the theft could have been traced if the staff had informed me when they found a new lock and checked that I had not been there the day before. Another problem is that the rent goes up too often and too much. I once had another unit with Extra Space Storage in another area, and they almost doubled the price within one month. Here, I have been with this Concord location for less than 4 months, rent has already gone up 40%, not to mention a theft has already happened. Cleanliness is something positive I can say about this facility. The staff are fine, and they also provided a new lock for me after mine was damaged and discarded. However, all in all, I have been using a storage unit in the past 7 years, and I would say that this location is the least safe among the others. Some storage places require customers to use certain kinds of lock only, and I think this is a policy this location should adopt. read more

The facility is nice and you you often see staff cleaning the grounds and maintaining the inside of the facility. Unfortunately, the constant rate hikes are outrageous and not worth it. Within two years my rate has gone up 30%. The real stinger is the website is offering smaller units for 30 dollars less a month. Without knowing the rate ceiling I can longer be a renter at this facility. Guess it is time to Marie Kondo and give up on storage units. read more

I have left reviews here on yelp in the past, since I myself like to check the yelp reviews for places and businesses that I plan to go to, but wanted to leave another one again here that I just left on google. I have rented different size units at this facility for many years. Mike, the manager, has always been so nice and cared about the facility looking nice for the customers and I have really appreciated him being there. Now he has Amanda there working with him, so I have been getting to know her more. The last couple of times, she has been the one to help me and I really appreciated all of her help. She is always friendly to me too and I really like that she's always smiling. I'm always concerned when someone else drives in on my code, because of theft, etc., so I talked to Amanda about it, so now she is watching out more for when this happens, which means a lot to me. It makes a difference to me that the people that work there try to make the facility a better place for the people that have trusted the facility with their possessions that are being stored there. It also makes a difference that I like the people that work there and I do! read more
