I wish I could give a zero rating. Horrible Customer Service. I'm so happy that I will never be using their storage units ever again. It's such a scam. My rate was increased within months of storing my items. The facility manager Bryon told me that he was on lunch and would call me back regarding prorating my rate since I was moving my items out of the unit but never did. I then called again another day and was told that regardless of the move-out I had to pay a full month and that I wasn't allow to receive the prorated rate even though a customer service rep said that he notified Byron of my move out. Do not be fooled by these high ratings and I recommend to never use these storage facilities ever. read more

Shocked this company has an overall rating of 4.9 stars. Terrible customer service - when I first rented the unit I let them know via a live phone conversation that I wouldn't be able to move in/lock the unit till the following month, and when I arrived with the movers the unit was locked from the outside anyway. Since it was after hours, customer service had to call the building manager to figure out the code, which wasn't working for me and I tried it 4 times. He then had to drive back to the space since it was after office hours while the movers left all my items outside the unit since they were late to their next job. I had to ask the building manager to help me move the heavy pieces of furniture into the unit which fortunately he agreed to do, but in the meantime I had already been charged overtime from the movers I'd hired and when I wrote in to complain and received a call back from customer service, the only thing they would offer is a $25 credit. Not even an apology. Clearly, I canceled my service and will be moving out as soon as the contract is up. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

No stars if possible. Rented a climate controlled 5x10 unit. Everything was fine during year 1. After year 1,they increased monthly rate more than 100%. No prior warning, no notification of change in rate. Good bye to my business. read more

The sign up was easy hence the two stars instead of one, but the customer service on site COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORY......... I got this condescending man on the phone after calling the number that was posted because no one was in the office. The sign said they were on the grounds not out to lunch. He finally answered and all I was asking for was scissors or assistance to help open the package my lock came in because I was having difficulty. He sarcastically replied "you want help with something you brought, we don't do that." His TONE was infuriating, rude, and dismissive so I hung before I would of had to negatively exchange words with him. If you're not around the property and hanging out just say that but don't make it seem like I was requesting you to do some over the top request. I literally just needed help opening my lock. I will not be here in this facility long I can already see from the attitude of whomever answered the phone. Not impressed at all!!! read more

I give this place no stars. They are not customer focused, I have a unit there and my items were damaged in the flooding that they had in February, I was told that my unit was not affected, but when I was finally able to get in to the unit I could clearly see water marks on my items with in sight. Speaking with the manager and they are willing to work me the customer to move my reamining slavage able items out and end my business with this company. So never rent from Extra Space Storage, they don't care about their custmers. read more

This place is great! I've had my storage unit for over 4 years and I can honestly say that I haven't had any problems. Nelson and Lily are always very courteous and they go out of their way to help you in any way. It's a pleasure. The place is always clean and well lit. I feel safe if I have to stop by and get something. They are located in a nice area of Englewood, next to a pizza place and across the street from an ice cream store. This is my second time around renting (long term) from the Englewood location and I live in Queens, NY. Renting from them because of my experience the first time around. I know they're rather far from where I currently live but I feel safe and comfortable with Nelson, Ken, and the crew (I hope they never leave). They always try to help out in any way possible and always try to give me the best deal. The fact that you can access your unit 24/7 is also a big BONUS because most storage facilities have restricted hours. Even though I live in a different state I really didn't consider going anywhere else. read more

place itself is very nice. However, had a bad experience getting started. The person meant to open up in the morning showed up late, despite appointment being made, and kept my movers waiting. When she finally showed up, she realized she did not bring her keys and kept us waiting another hour. I used them for six months and then got a rate increase of 35%. in the mail. I reached out to inquire and was told that they had that ability and would raise it again in 9 months. Terms in the contact did not explicitly mention these increases. They did have a clause of "30 day notice" including rate change... which is pretty standard in contracts but usually is more of an emergency out clause...I expressed my dissatisfaction and was not accommodated. I will immediately be looking into moving to Uncle Bob's storage. read more

This is a clean, safe, updated facility. Space of units and cost are comparative to other local facilities. Staff are friendly, helpful and great folks to work with. There are plenty of working dollys. There is insurance, as we know is a requirement and if it something happens, we would be very happy to have it. No complaints, would I like it to be a little cheaper? Yes, is that realistic, probably not. I would recommend this facility. read more

The facility feels safe (most of the times, see below) and location is right off the highway, but I've got a few issues with them. Pros: 1) They have dollys that work 2) Location is nice Cons 1) Hidden Fees: you're forced to get insurance for the unit, so make sure you budget that in your expenses. Also there are initial fees you have to pay too. I was promised $180, but on the first month I had to pay close to $240 2) There was a black out in the area during the time of my visit. So they left the front gate, back gate, and doors to the facilities wide open. While I understand they did it so people can still access the building, it didn't stop anyone from going in w/ lock cutters. Also, no back up generators meant that the storage units were pitch black. 3) If you leave early, don't expect to get pro rated return. I left half way through and they refused to reimburse me because I didn't tell them in advance. What kind of garbage is that? 4) Rate Hike: Your promised rate is only good for 5 months. Then you can expect a 7-10% increase (and who knows how long that's good for). I was promised a rate at 180, which became 199 because of insurance and on my last month (6th month) was raised to 207. 5) Make sure you bring your own lock when you reserve, otherwise it'll cost you another $10. ----------------------------------- edit, i contacted Extra Space Storage and they reversed the rule and will be sending me a check for a pro rated refund. will update upon receiving or not. read more

Customer Beware!! Excessive bi-annual and annual rate increases of more than 10%. They say they are the 2nd largest storage facility company. Well, I think it's time to check out their number One competition or find a smaller company who is not in the business of gouging their customers with greedy, unwarranted, and excessive rate increases. read more
