Below is the review I wrote from dealing with the national reservations line. I have had five months of working with the folks in this location and they are so good that I changed my rating from 1 star to 4 stars! They have been great to deal with, patient, helpful and all around wonderful to us and now that I am done with the unit I will give credit where it was due and revise my earlier rating for doing business with Extra Storage Space. By all means I highly recommend this ESS location! My earleir...very angry...review: ============================================== BEWARE ... BS offer of "First Month Free" IT IS NOT ...somewhere in the fine print (and it has to be pretty 'fine' 'cause I have not found it yet) they elect to charge you a $29 "Move-in Fee"... (because it is so damn expensive for them to watch you move your stuff in) ...so this is obviously some new usage of the word "Free" of which I was previously unaware "First Month = $29" Oh...and when we went to move in we found out that the space we reserved (on the second floor) is in a building where the elevator does not work..."want a ground floor instead? Here is the up charge"...so I got a bait and switch on top of the misleading use of the word FREE all in all my strong suggestion: STAY AWAY read more

Customers beware!!! I got a credit card transaction from this PC store and I do not have a storage space there. I never use this credit card and always check all of my accounts once a week in case of FRAUD..Lucky I did because the amount was for $38.00 for rental space. Check your accounts regularly or set up alerts for no matter what the amount. read more

Ok this company is your try to get one over on your fellow man. They must work on commission, skylar the assistant manager is not very friendly or could careless if you spoke to their distric manager M Stclair ,cause thats a waste of time. When you come in they make it sound like your gettin this great deal 1st month free . Yeah rite . But what they dont tell you unless you ask for your contract that consist of 10 pages you get one the recite , but that 1st month free ends up not free because as soon as you leave the tap on extra insurance the wont tell you about until you get your first bill and hope you dont run into trouble like i did. I made the mistake of breaking my ribs at work and it took so long that ESS tacked on tons of extra charges . I barely got my disability checks last week ,so i was 59 days late so my two months and one free costed a lot . I figure the smallest unit runs 58.00 so that times 2 it should be ruffly 116.00 and maybe will say 50.00 late charges . So were looking at 166.00 . Thats fair , brother try 272. 60 . Holy cow !! They add late charges they add insurance and top it off they want it in full. So no paying one month and one next week now and if you dont pay it your stuff goes on auction 60 day no pay. Wow my babys pictures my only sons preschool stuf sold to some perve cause i broke my ribs. Well thank GOD i had the money. And extra storage space ill take my chances with Local people storage companys and you can go bye bye! Aside from the price being unbeatable for the size unit i got, the staff was very helpful; the location was ideal for me as i was in between moving. access to the building was easy and my storage unit was clean and met my storage needs for the month i needed to store my belongings. i asked questions and the staff was more than happy to answer everything. i had perfect timing as i was able to secure a ground floor unit which made it easy to move things in and out. i would definitely recommend ESS to my family and friends and would use this facility again if i needed too. read more

We were moving and had a 10x10 storage for a few months. We knew we still would need a smaller unit after we moved so we rented a 4x8 storage and the transition was done perfectly. We love the location and the hours and will continue to use Extra Space Storage in Pearl City. We are on the 2nd floor but with a cart and a lift, there is no problem. read more

I thank the ladys here at extra space because they gave me an amazing deal and amazing customer service. I needed storage for 2 months while moving and could not believe how much they helped me out. The storage was the perfect amount of space. They took time to show me my options and with no rush. Only downside is it wasnt 24 hour accesible but for the price i couldnt complain. Plus the have a free truck available for you to move your stuff in. Just have to schedule it in advance. thanks again!!! read more

A 15 dollar insurance fee per month that wasn't quoted to me over the phone. And the 5 percent military discount only covers the tax. But people there are phenomenaly helpful and the space is nice. read more

I don't understand any reviews less than 5 for this company and this location. Kim is incredible with how she assists customers, and the pricing is the best on the island. Facility itself and units are clean and well-maintained, the location is convenient, and accessibility (days/hours) are great! Again, Kim is on top of her tasks at all times, is pleasant, genuinely caring and helpful, and she follows up with any/all inquiries, issues, concerns with a sense of urgency. I am extremely happy with my past and recent rental transactions, and I confidently recommend this company and this location to anyone shopping around for a storage unit. The online preview option with the ability to reserve a unit (without initial payment information) is a fantastic feature ... just look online at the pricing and you will get a very accurate idea about what's available. I researched online and went to several storage facilities. When I went to Extra Space Storage in Pearl City it was everything I needed. Even though I live in Waikiki having my items stored in Pearl City I was able to get a better price for a larger unit. Thank you Kimberly for your great customer service and sweet Aloha spirit. The only thing I dont like about ESS, is that they force you to have (personal property only) insurance on your cubby hole. That's a MONTHLY charge of $10/mo ( 25% increase in the monthly cost). Does that remind you of the rent-a-car insurance rip-off? If you are a home owner with a home owner policy, you can show them your policy to get the charge waived. What a hassle. I had to make photocopies and mail it to their facility. No email allowed. My time and their office time does not match so I could not drop it off. Other then their crappy corp policy on insurance, the place is old and beat-up, and therefore very value friendly (cheap). The people there are friendly and handled my rant with extreme courtesy. I give the folks there a thumbs up and the company a thumbs down. I would recommend this place only if you can get the forced insurance charge waived. read more

I currently have 2 storage units with them and yes...........they raise the price on you. Nothing you can do about it it's in the contract. It would make sense that the longer you do business with them that they would give you a discount or drop down by a few bucks or at least keep the price the same. A few more months and I'm terminating my lease with them. Beware. They can jack the price up to what ever they want. I will never rent a storage unit from them again and will absolutely every time discourage anyone from renting from these facilities. 2 Bad. Just a little 2 greedy. read more

It was easy getting a Extra Space Storage locker. I looked on line and found the locker size I needed. I reserved that locker and they had a special rate on that day on line. I went down to Extra Space Storage office, told them I had a locker reserved. Carina showed me the locker and we did the contract agreement with the explanations and the auto pay, so no late payments. It was quick and the same day I was loading the locker. read more

I never actually rented a storage here because I reserved one online and when my husband went to pay for it they refused him because I needed to be there? I don't understand why they would turn a customer (and their cash) away like that but they were very very RUDE & bitchy about it so I'm surprised so many positive reviews on their customer service! They raise the price on you every 3-4 months claiming they are raising rates based on maintenance expenses. I have been using extra space for two years and I have gone from $168 to $228 in that time. If you get storage make sure you use all the space not just some of the space. Also, when they raise your rent it's time to move. read more

NEVER USE THIS STORAGE! I got a storage in February 2018, 4 days after getting the storage, I called Dane and cancelled my storage. Told him all of my things were cleared out, and lock was removed. He "supposedly" cancelled my storage right then. On March 24 2018, they charged my card, making my account negative! It has been 1 week now since speaking to them about why they charged my card, and refunding my money. They won't refund the overdraft fee that THEY CAUSED, even if I showed them my bank statement. They don't know what the hell is going on, Kim said "the refund could not be processed back onto your card for some reason, like your bank refused the deposit" but minutes after speaking to Kim, Dane "who initially was "working at a different store" magically showed up...??? Anyways, Dane came on the phone and said "we have refunded your card it takes 4-5 days, so around April 4th".....I spoke to Dane on MONDAY MARCH 26th, when he confirmed "we have already defended your card". It's now March 30th, and he's saying "we just refunded it on March 29th" WTF! THIS IS HOW THEY MAKE MONEY, BY WRONGFULLY CHARGING YOUR ACCOUNT AND MAKING ANY EXCUSE TO NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY! Needed a storage space ASAP and was able to get one here. Carina showed us the ones available in different sizes. We chose one that we thought would be a perfect size, but on the day of the move, decided that we needed a larger one. We preferred one on the bottom floor and the manager showed us one that was an odd size, but large enough to fit all of our belongings. The only drawback to this unit is that there is no lighting, but a lantern works wonderfully. Love the space, love the security gates, love the staff. read more
