Posted hours are not accurate. No one available in office during posted office hours to answer questions. The online process to acquire a storage rental unit is easy! The discounted rates are lucrative too! $1 a month for the first month is tempting. I would advise you to deeply think of your storage needs prior to committing as you may not get the in-person support you need. I wouldn't rent here ever again. So we had a 2 bedroom rental and needed to clear out the extra room to turn into a nursery. We decided to use this Public Storage since it was one of the closest ones to us and had the unit size we were looking for. We rented from them for about 4 - 5 months but over time we started to think that things were going missing from our storage unit. We thought about it and from day one, the girl at the counter gave us USED LOCK & KEYS. What I mean by this is that she handed us a lock and set of keys that were not in it's original packaging and usually when you buy a lock from them, it comes packaged right? Well ours didn't and we didn't think much of it until now. This is just a thought but maybe the front desk girl was in on it too and someone had spare keys to the lock we were given. How would they know which unit to go to in the first place?! About 3 months into rental from them, we noticed that some big dollar items were missing from the storage when we came to look for them since they sat in the front of the storage unit for easy access. Idk why we didn't report it but we rented for a few more months until we found a bigger place to live and was able to end our rental agreement with them. We don't know exactly every item that was stolen but from what we could remember, about $2000 worth of items was taken from our unit to include a large yeti cooler, power tools, spear guns and my military duffle full of deployment gear. All these items are replaceable to us but to trust a place like Public Storage, we have no trust left... sadly I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone but if you do go with them, i recommend you use your own locks and put multiple on that door. Employees here can't be trusted. For a place I pay for my stuff to stay safe, they sure aren't worth the hassle. I don't even think there are cameras in or around the facility. I finally read older reviews and MANY HAVE REPORTED THEFT HERE! Someone mentioned that they had items stole from their unit but when they filed a report, nothing was really done since they couldn't prove it. Employees play dumb when the police come. Other renters have been able to open other units with their same key. Squatters live in the units at night. Cameras and elevators apparently dont work. TRASH EXCUSES FOR A PLACE THAT'S SUPPOSE TO KEEP YOUR SHXT SAFE! So instead of filing a report, I'd rather warn the public and ensure you take your business else where. It's criminal owned and riddled with theft. Sadly we had to be part of that percentage of victims. So disgusted. read more

I was NOT told that the one time ADMIN Fee was NOT Refundable. They text you the agreement & expect you to read pages and pages and tell you to just check all the boxes. Although specific sites may have excellent managers and treat the customers well, Public Storage corporate is out to gouge the customers and the company does not empower the site managers or their district managers to provide a good customer experience. If you are looking for long-term storage, this is NOT the company to work with. They raise their prices regularly. They will work with you and submit exceptions for so long, but this time around they raised my rent by 25%!!! Their logic was, "we have to raise prices based on market and demand, just like an airline raises their prices." My response to that retort is the airlines don't raise the price on you while you are mid-flight. If the rate increases were on par with inflation, or within reason, that would make sense, but they push hard to get you out by raising your rent to unreasonable rates because they want to rent it out at the new rate. When I spoke to my district manager she said "I have done everything I can," which is either a cop-out, or it means the corporate office and the people who make decisions are not the people who actually work with the customers. I rented a 10x10 unit about 2 years ago. At the time that I rented it, I asked the property manager what happens if I pay for the month but move out before the end of the month? I was assured that the amount I paid would be pro-rated and I would be refunded for the days I did not use. I thought that was fair even though the price was going to increase each time my time period was up. (I paid for as many months as I could in advance to lock in the price as long as I could) Fast forward 2 years later, I paid up until the end of 2022, I received word that our house was completed and moved our things out in one day. I notified the person in the office that day and again asked about how I would be refunded the pro-rated amount. They said by the original form of payment. I waited a few days and received no refund, so I called today and was directed to the mainland (an 866 toll free number), when I inquired about my pro-rated refund I was told they do NOT pro-rate what you paid or refund you. I explained that I was told every time I asked that I would be refunded because I am not using the whole month, I was told again, NO, we DO NIT REFUND! They said I was misinformed! Hello?! Your own property manager told me multiple times not to worry, I only get charged for the days I use! Long story short, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM WHEN THEY SAY YOU WILL GET REFUNDED A PRO-RATED AMOUNT IF YOU CACATE EARLY!! SEEMS LIKE THEY LIE TO YOU JUST TO GET YOU TO RENT!! read more

This place is horrible office is hardly ever open so most of the time you need to use flatbeds from home depot same with restrooms the one in the office at one time never even had a door and when the door was fixed they never installed privacy lock so when you use someone can just walk in. Also my unit was priced $215 initially than it almost doubled in price to $400 in 12 months. I advise no to use them if you plan on long term storage more than 6 months, you pay premium price for poor facility service. After looking at several storage facility options, we are very happy that we chose this one. The staff at the front desk are super helpful and always say hello to everyone. (thank you to George and Louis!) They offer several sizes of storage lockers to choose from and are often offering special prices for different sizes. The loading dock is very convenient and a personalized security code allows you access to the building and the elevators if needed. They got people squatting in empty units and outside the building. They wouldn't even help us move our stuff since the door doesn't work anymore and cant be closed. Just a note of caution about renting here. Some of their practices are quite unjust. It is fair for a buyer to be aware of what to expect. Expect about 30-60 minutes to sign in. About 6 months in, expect to have prices increased about 20%. When you do move out, make sure you give them advance notice, and schedule your move out toward the end of your month, as they will not prorate the last month's rent. Looking back, I am a little upset at myself for convincing myself to have all this stuff that I then had to spend the cost of a used car keeping. Buy less junk, have less responsibilities so you can prioritize the things that matter. I am writing this review in lieu of suing them for $200 of prorated rent, as the suit will not be worth it in terms of time nor dollars spent. The cost of freedom is eternal vigilance. Terrible experience with this Public Storage. Do not rent from here if your expecting good customer service and basic mail services every other storage company on island already offers. Rented a unit from this location because its employee assured me they would hold small packages in their office. A week later they went back on that. Then regional manager said they would temporarily hold my packages already en route. The staff went back on this as well. They cost me money and time and still had the gall to charge me. I would have worked this out with them but they do not return calls. This public storage team is not effective. They don't communicate, don't know their own policies, it's apparent the staff hate their jobs when you speak with them and public storage lacks basic amenities. Why go here? read more

We have rented here for about 2 years. Staff has always been very friendly and helpful. Location is great, parking lot is never crowded and usually there are moving hand trucks available. If I could give no stars I would. I rented from September 26 to October 26, I was told I was able to call them in the 26th of October to have it extended until the 31st for only $100. I went online and seen that I was charged late fee for not paying by the 25th October. Ridiculous. Called for a manager and their reasons was dumb! Tried calling district manager and NOT a single call back! My space ended in the 31st of October & now they're saying I have to pay for the month November! What?! Stupid! & until now, not a single call back from district manager. Left voicemails after voicemails and calls after calls. We rented two large units over the course of 18 months.. at almost $300/month per unit we paid a lot of money. The online booking and billing was very convenient and we have very few complaints for the time during the rental period. There can be some very questionable people outside and they carts were pretty disgusting most days. Our issue came at move out. We notified the company of the exact day and time that we would be vacating the units. We hired movers to meet us there during operating hours, but when we arrived with the movers, the key pad for entry would not work. Apparently there was an electrical issue which shuts down the system and it had to be manually opened when the workers arrived hours later. We called the phone number, but no one answered. So we called the national help line and after being put on hold and being told there is no process for contacting the local employees in emergency situations, I was given the name and phone number of the Hawaii manager. I called her and left a message with no response. We had to wait two hours for the employees to show up and pay the moving company to sit around and do nothing. Very annoying. read more

When we first got the unit, we were paying $300 a month. 6 months into it, we received a notice that our rent would be going up to $370 a month with a week's notice. We had no choice but to pay it until we made arrangements to take our stuff out. Unit was spacious. On every visit, we saw big roaches in the hallway. They have rodent packets strewn about but I never saw any insect control things. The previous review about the parking lot is true. My husband said on our second to last trip, that when he parked and got out of the truck, there were nails and screws on broken up wood all over the parking area near the loading zone. There's always trash and random things all over the place near the loading entrance. I'm giving them 3 stars because Kathy was very helpful, pleasant and efficient when we were gathering information for our rental. Upon checkout, she was equally as professional and efficient. Prices range from different sizes but our unit is the perfect size for everything we needed to store and it's reasonably priced. The parking lot is across from Home Depot so there is plenty of parking and room to move in and out. Came in to rent out a small storage space in the pearl city Public Storage and Nancy was there to help me and my husband find a small storage perfect enough for our boxes with the right price and it wasn't too big. Nancy greeted us very professionally and she was very nice and was very detailed about the lease, insurance, policy, rules and regulations as well as the locks and what we can and cannot do in the storage space. She also tested us to see if we could open the elevator correctly which I think many people aren't intelligent enough to open correctly. She warned us about a few things we needed to be aware of. Don't ever put your things here!!!!! I recently bought a storage unit and on the first storage run, I had forgotten my locker number. My daughter pointed our locker out to me and i put the key in and noticed it opened someone elses locker!!!!! They tell you these keys are really secure and it costs almost $20, but I f i can open someone elses locker, that means they can open mine! I told the staff that and they said "yeah, but they dont know that". WTH? Then i realized there aren't really any cameras in that place. there are only cameras by the elevator. I rate them 1 star because of the rate increase from $75 a month to 5x5 storage within a year that I had it. I vacated everything on the first of the month and they told me I still need to pay for the whole month because they don't prorate. But before this in the month of November another person told me if I get my things out before the end of the month they will prorate a refund back to me. So how the hell does that work? I paid $107.65 for only 20min of having my things in storage and it cost me a lot. Well I am probably not going to use them in the futures due to many increases every few months and no change has been done. The floor I was on smelled like vomit. I told them before and they told me, they are aware of it, but hey we're going to increase your monthly bill too. To me if your going to keep increasing the monthly bill every 4-5months I expect to have a much cleaner well managed storage facility. Not one that stinks and charge a lot for a closet space. Been here since they opened and recently had a mix up with payment causing my account to be delinquent. What? No way I'm irraz! Customer service agent JOHN was amazing!! He saw that this error was not of mine, saw how long I've been with them and went ABOVE and BEYOND making me calm and explaining what solutions can be done to correct. He solved my account issues and brought me up to date. Couple days later I get a notification that I owe a late fee, called back and he remembers me and took care of it.
