****DO NOT USE EXTRA SPACE STORAGE***** They are nice to you until you sign the renter's agreement. Then the service with a smile goes away. They WILL raise your rent after 5 months and again after one year. The facility is nice and climate controlled, but seriously....does your christmas ornaments, camping gear or whatever you are storing need to be warm at night. This place is a rip off and I took my business to Public Storage just down the street on Evans. I got a bigger unit with the same security for $20.00 cheaper. Extra Space Storage will rip you off and send you nice letters to make it sound like they are doing "to serve you better". read more

The storage is nice and clean and secure. The staff was friendly and helpful.... UNTIL you sign on the dotted line. The smile goes away, the rent increases in a few months and then after a year. Like most of us, I waited until the last possible second to look for a storage facility I have. The few times I've used self-storage, it has always been disappointing on one or many levels. There are a myriad of places to choose from, all presenting some price gimmick to allure you. I picked my poison and decided to give Extra Space a try. Be mindful that I had recently used them and wasn't wholly impressed. Admittedly, i entered the office located at Lawrence Station with a surly attitude. The lady at the desk,,Devora, greeted mw with a winsome and welcoming smile ushered in by a hearty hello. I was so shocked by her obvious pleasant nature, all memories of negative experiences in the past were now meaningless and and a non-factor. With class, stellar professionalism , price transparency and friendly talk demonstrated by Devora, I was more than ready to give Extra Space another try. I had my belongings here for 3 or 4 months while in between buying and selling a house. Oliver and Keisha were GREAT! They are diligent and remembered me each time they saw me - asking about my plans, etc. THe unit is secure and always clean. They were flexible - I had to change for 3 different units to find the size that worked best. They even deliver packages to your unit. Great service! I've rented at other facilities before, but if I had to rent a storage space again, this would be the place. read more

He immediately followed up on my inquiry about a storage unit and impressed me from our first conversation. He was helpful, objective and had immediate follow-up/pull-through. Over the course of the month and a half that I had rented space, Oliver continued to be kind, helpful and available. He knows his customers, he takes a vested interest in making sure their experience is positive and has me leaving there knowing that I would recommend this location to anyone looking for storage space in San Francisco. I rolled into Extra Space Storage on my first day in San Francisco. This place is great! It's clean, the staff is very helpful and professional, and the units are super secure. Also, the prices are good and you can pay your bill online or over the phone. On my second day there, my lock got messed up and it took them under ten minutes to cut it and replace it at no extra charge. Awesome! read more

Very clean and spacious place. Looks very new as a matter for fact. Easy assess code to get in and out. There are lots of parking spots, and dollys everywhere so you don't have to scramble to find them. Overall, this is the nicest and cleanest storage unit that I have been to. The first month is not free, they sell you all kinds of things that you have to have. And then after they get you there they'll increase your rates after a few months. And if you don't want to pay it then you have to go somewhere else, much like our cable and cellular phone companies. Their customer service is very poor at best. This place "used" to be the best storage facility in SF. Has it changed hands or something? I moved in at $130/month - a couple of years later I am paying $208! The gates and everything used to make this place secure - now they are all broken and perpetually open. It used to be spotless - now there are bird droppings and smell everywhere. They are not very nice. They didn't prorate saying that because my payment already went through. So they charge me for the full month!! But if I leave early nothing will stop them from renting the unit and charging the full amount to someone else. GREEDY!!! Buyer be ware!!! RAT INFESTATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely mortified. I have been renting a 10x20 storage unit for 18 months at Extra Space Storage on Cesar Chavez. I pay $540 a month for the unit....which is infested with RATS. Ridiculous all around. The $20,000 worth of goods I have stored in there have literally been trampled on, shit on and peed on-- by RATS. I have never seen so much rat feces in my life. And guess what - Extra Space storage says they have NO accountability for this because they cannot control what people bring in there. So...my stuff is RUINED and literally a BIOHAZARD. The pictures I shared are a snapshot of what I can see when I open my unit...I have not even begun to dig in there and see how much more feces is covered on my furniture throughout. DO NOT RENT HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. This is a customer nightmare all the way around. And again...NO accountability, NO reimbursement...NOTHING from Extra Space Storage. And guess what....my stuff is still there (think they care?!?!?)...because I have to find some one to come handle this stuff...and they are STILL CHARGING ME. BELIEVE IT...and BE WARNED!!!! UNBELIEVABLE AND SICK!!!! Extra Space Storage is abominable for not addressing this issue!!! read more

I've been renting storage space here for almost a year. I initially signed up with Oliver the manager. He was fantastic and made the process very quick and easy. Since then I have had nothing but positive experiences. Access is easy, the location is spotless and they always have trolley's available to cart my stuff to my storage space. It's also right off the freeway and easy to access. I highly recommend this location. read more

I had a storage unit that had mice and it damaged my contents. The unit next to mine was used for food storage and the facility had rodent problems! Even after the constant extermination and pest control, Extra Space Storage would not reimburse me for damages or for free rent. The site manager had no control and the regional manager wouldn't help because I didn't have insurance. I am disgusted and I highly do NOT recommend this organization!! read more
