So bad, I walked out. This has to be one of the poorest customer service experiences I have had in years. When I made the appointment for early Saturday morning, they told me I needed to be there at 8:45 (15 minutes before the appointment) and emphasized it many times. I asked if they mall was open and they said yes and which door do come in. When I arrived at 8:45 (as I was repeatedly instructed to do), there were people inside, doors were locked and they didn't open them until 9 am. This is after they left me a message asking me to confirm my appointment the day before and I tried 4 times and the line was busy each time. After waiting outside for 15 minutes for them to open, I filled out the paperwork and sat there for another 15 minutes. During that time, I listened to someone come to pick up there glasses and he informed them they were wrong and not what was on his order (he had the paperwork). It was embarrassing to hear them deal with him. He was basically begin told tough in a condescending manner. It would be two weeks if you MAKE us correct them was their message to him. To his credit, he held firm and told them he was unwilling to accept them. There was a large crew working at the shop, but they all appeared to wait unit the optomistrist's come in at about 9:10. Then activity started, but at a slow pace. After waiting 30 minutes (even though I had an appointment) and listening to how poor their customer service was, I told them I was not interested in waiting any longer and left. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere, but if you don't heed the warning, go luck and be careful. read more

A great experience for me this week at Eye Designs in the Galleria Mall. My favorite sunglasses were coming apart and I had tried to repair them at home. I couldn't get them tightened. Christopher helped me when it was my turn and realized that one of the screws was stripped and needed to be replaced. He did, adjusted them to fit better and handed them back. Approximately one month ago I had my eye exam at the Arden Mall location. I had the perception filled at the Roseville Mall location. Two weeks later the glasses came in. They were made incorrectly, they were sent back to the lab with a rush request. Now two more weeks have passed and all I get is excuses with an unknown time frame of having a pair of glasses. read more

I had a very good experience here. Dr. Murphy was very thorough in explaining my prescription and my eyesight. The best part of this experience was the AWESOME customer service from Edgar. He helped me through every step in picking out frames for me. When my glasses came in he was there and explained to me how the progressive lenses work and where to look through the lenses, I have been using progressives for a few years now and no one has ever been so helpful. read more

We came from out of state to shop at the Galleria and my mom had an accident with her glasses. The lens popped out and the metal frames were completely flattened. We walked into Eye Designs Optometry to see if they could somehow fix the damage enough so Mom could wear the glasses again. They worked on it right away and were very friendly! If I could give zero stars I would. This location has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. They "accidentally" added transitions (sun correct) to my lenses without asking me and of course charged my insurance for it. (I put "accidentally" because the staff who helped me when I brought them back blamed it on a co-worker who wasn't there, however I overheard another optician telling a different customer that they automatically add the transitions to lenses). When I brought my glasses back to have the transitions removed they said it would take 2 weeks. I got a phone call 3 weeks later and went in to get them. The man who helped me said he didn't think they were back before even looking for them. Once he found them, he then told me that they weren't finished, and when I started to get upset he changed his mind and said that they were done. I could see the brown coating on the lenses and asked to speak with a manager. She told me that they could refund me but I wouldn't get my insurance benefit back, or they could send them back again. I opted for the second option (obviously) and she said they would rush them and ship them to me. She told me they would be done in 7 days. Over 2 weeks later I called to do a status check. I was put on hold for over 5 minutes so I hung up and called back. I was told that they couldn't find them and someone would call me. I explained the situation and asked that a manager return my call. An hour later I received a call letting me know that my glasses were ready to be picked up! I explained the situation AGAIN and asked that they be shipped. I'm waiting on a tracking number but do not doubt that I'll have to call again to receive it. It's been almost 4 months since I ordered the glasses and I still do not have them. I will never do business at this location again, the staff is incompetent, lie to their customers and do not seem to care at all. read more

I used to come here sometime ago and every experience was always pleasant up until a few years ago, I don't know if management or employees changed but the last two times I've tried to work with this optometrist I've received unsatisfactory service. I've had enough and will not return after today's visit. This does not reflect on every employee but one in particular, galina I'm not sure how to spell or pronounce her name... but today I was late for my appointment (it was raining today and there was a standstill accident) and I called in advance to forewarn them, thinking if this was an issue they would certainly let me know, but the receptionist on the phone said everything was fine. So when I came in, I was told the doctor was running a little late, which was absolutely fine, I work at a vet hospital I get it. As I was taken into a room and barely sat down to start the process of my exam, Galina thought it necessary to interupt the gentlemen and I's conversation to let him know that I need to be seen last since I was a HALF HOUR late... right in front of me. She didn't sugar coat it or anything saying another lady should be seen first (she had been waiting for an hour) and I said I was 16min late and I apologized. Again, Galina said that I was HALF HOUR LATE AND I KNEW I WAS LATE, in front of me again? Where is the professonialism? Then I was escorted back into the lobby. I don't mind that the other lady went before me, that is fine by me. But Jesus, you are not supposed to make clients feel bad that they can't control traffic and the weather and be so rude about it. I am giving them one more try but if I get another bad experience again, I'm done... They are kind of expensive here anyways so this really isn't a loss for me and reading the reviews... this is ANOTHER loss for them... Again this does not reflect on all employees as I do not know every single one and all other employees were kind to me but if there is one crack in the wall, eventually it will spread and crumble. I believe in second chances. Two years ago my new glasses took 6 to 8 weeks here. They got sent back to the lab for incorrect prescription and the frames were also an issue. Multiple times. When ordering, I told the technician I needed shorter temples. She wrote it down, but it came in wrong. Wasted trips and wasted time. This time I'm using my own frame, so that shouldn't be an issue. "Frameless" style so there are options for lens shape. Got the call to pick them up on Monday. Lens shape was wrong. Correct shape written on the form in bold blue marker. The lab ignored it and whoever checked them into the office ignored it. Wasted trip again, and at least another 2 weeks added for them to order a demo lens for the lab. All that's happened so far was a weak apology and an offer to let me pick them up to use until the correct lenses are complete. This would be another trip out of my way. There will not be a 3rd chance. read more

I have been a patient with Eye Designs for at least 5 years. I was happy with their service until most recently. I go here because it's convenient, they have my file, and the service seemed pretty consistent. But I was told by an optician that their service is sale driven, and they cater to the "Fashion World" now and not so much what your insurance covers. I mean, was that really necessary to say? Every year, I spend over $300 out of pocket to get contacts and glasses which I was fine with because I got the glasses and lenses I wanted. This year, I decided I just wanted to change out my lens, and keep my frames. I thought that would be the easiest thing to do, but it seemed more of an inconvenience to the person helping me, since it was pretty obvious that person was driving up sales. I always thought customer service was important, but I thought it was rude. I may just skip out on returning here and go back to my old eye doctor who actually cares. read more

Went in today with the intention of getting a new pair of frames with progressive prescription lenses, as well as a new pair of prescription sunglasses. I had prescription in hand, so just needed to look at and try on frames to see which would suit my style. As soon as you walk in, they want to "get your insurance going". I thought that was odd, because if I didn't find anything I liked, why bother? They went ahead and 'checked' on my vision insurance, and found that the optometrist who did my exam has the authorization for the frames and lenses I am due this year. The sales clerk assigned to me tried calling VSP to see if that could be changed, but it was outside VSP's customer service hours. She had a major cup of attitude she was serving up, and I wasn't having it! So I told her nevermind, and walked out. Three words that describe this business: Greedy, Rude, Bitchy. read more

Best eye care I ever had, worst customer care I ever had. They normally have 8-10 people waiting, but only 4 seats. The front area is overcrowded with crap. They have 3 people working up front to take appointments, They would be better served with one less person up front and some extra help in back. The eye doctors are top notch. In terms of being quick and easy I'd give them an A+ But their lack of communication which ended up leaving me embarrassed in front of many customers was another situation. When I came in for my exam last Wednesday I let them know that I was only there for a prescription for glasses that I'd most likely be ordering online since my insurance didn't cover the glasses and only the exam. They asked if I wanted to do the contact fitting and how much it would be and I told the girl MULTIPLE times that I didn't want to do a contact fitting and that I just wanted to use my exam through my insurance. She said that was fine. Well I just followed directions from the doctor as he asked of me and in the process ended up with contacts in my eyes. I figured this was him showing me the difference between correcting the small astigmatism in one of my eyes or not so I would know if I liked one or the other better because that's all he was talking about during the handing me a pair of contacts. I HAD SAID AT LEAST 10 TIMES I DIDNT WANT A CONTACT FITTING AND THEY CLEARLY DID IT ANYWAY! Then at the end the girl asks me to pay for the contact fitting which I told her "Um, I said I didn't want the contact fitting." Rather than admit their mistake and just leave it at that she went and talked to the other workers who decided that I had to immediately take out the contacts they had me put in. What good did that even do them? They were already in my eyes. It's not like they could've reused them. They were going to get paid money from my insurance anyway for the visit so what's the one pair of contacts to them especially since it was THEIR fault for not listening to my ten attempts to tell them I didn't need the contact fitting! I was embarrassed in front of at least three other customers who heard the entire exchange and watched me get walked over to the counter where she WATCHED me take them out. What?! Do you think I'm trying to slide out one free pair of contacts from you??? So unnecessary. Maybe next time they should simply LISTEN and make note rather than keep doing things the client didn't ask for and actually said NO to! read more

This is my first experience with this place and sadly, it is a bad one...My son needed his first pair of glasses and it's been over a month and we still haven't received them...we have been calling them 2 times a week since we ordered them only because they ask if the can call us back with more info the first time we call. After never receiving a call back, we have to call back again...finally after 4 weeks, they tell me it's back ordered and should get it at the end of the week...2 weeks later we call THEM and after asking if they could call us back, which they don't, we follow up and find out they won't be available until June 9th...over 2 months after we ordered them...my son can't see...they said "it's not their fault" the frames were back ordered...I asked for a refund to just cancel them and they said that would cost me 50% of the advanced payment I gave them..they suggested that my son come in and pick new frames, but that would take an additional 2 to 3 weeks....would I ever go here again? NO...would I recommend this place to a friend? NEVER... Update: they're still not in yet... read more

Absolutely horrible service. Very unprofessional. Have had the same bad experience the last 3 years and will never come back. Staff were unable to read medical records due to sloppiness. They made multiple mistakes getting the correct prescription for my contacts. When trying to get issues corrected I would be promised a call back and never receive one. When the doctor would make mistakes ordering contacts I was treated to apathetic responses and no follow through. They seemed uninterested in making things right and doing so in a reasonable time-frame. Do yourself a favor and stay far far away from this place. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for about 10 years and we have always had a pleasant experience. All of the staff seem to be on the ball and are super friendly. They always call to confirm your appointments and never have an issue if you need to reschedule. I have seen a handful of their doctors over the years and everyone of them have been nice. They give you free contact samples if you run out and need them before your order comes in. They freely give you your prescription for contacts and glasses, without having to ask. I have never felt pressured to buy anything. I only get my contacts here, since I hardly ever wear glasses. One time they saw me when I was having issues with my eyes, and didn't charge me. Been to this location 3 times so far and will have to go once more to pick up glasses they lost. My glasses were supposed to be ready 10/16 (nearly 2 wks after my initial visit) and when I went to pick them up on 10/19, I was told they weren't ready but will be the following day. Went back on 10/24 and my glasses were still on the machine while the second pair were missing. The employee told me that my glasses weren't ready by the original date bc she wasn't working the day I went to pick up and also machines went down for a week. I highly doubt the other employees stop making glasses just bc this one is off, lol. Also, my glasses were supposed to be ready days before their machines went down ;) Soooo we waited for a bit, left to have lunch and returned an hour later to 1 pair slightly ready for me. I was given the glasses in the middle of the store with no adjustment, no case, and nothing but criticism on how bad my astigmatism is. Let me remind you that this woman is a sales associate, not my eye doctor. That was the SECOND time she mentioned how bad my eyes were, she did so during my first visit and continued on about my eyes after I acknowledged my vision has been poor since birth and my family has an eye disease in our genes. I was then told the second pair of glasses would be ready on 10/26, I plan on picking them up today so we'll see if I paid $450 for glasses that don't come with a case, cleaning cloth, and slide down your nose every 2 mins. Lenscrafters would've had this shit done within 24 hrs and I'm royally pissed for giving this company my time and money. read more

I love Eye Designs because I can see a large selection of frames...they have one of the largest selections I can find anywhere. I advise anyone to look for one of their designer showcase events, where most of the eyeglass vendors go to their shop, and show the frames they have. I think it's called trunk shows, try calling them to find out when one is held. I love big, blingy unusual glasses, and I have been able to find them there. I have gone to both locations, the one at Arden, and the one at the Galleria in Roseville, both are equally great. They have very good service! I've been a loyal patient of Eye Designs Optometry for almost 14 years. Even my husband and my daughter goes there for eye check up every year too. I always receive nice customer service and the Optometrist are very knowledgeable and friendly especially Dr. Thomas Murphy and Dr Heidi Pham-Murphy. Today I had the procedure to cure my dry eyes by Dr Thomas Murphy in the Sunrise location. I was scared but he was so gentle and I didn't even feel any discomfort. All of them was friendly and able to answer all my questions. When my appointment was done , I went to a restaurant next to the clinic because it was already past lunch time. To my surprise , Dr Thomas Murphy was also there and he paid for the big sandwich I ordered. Thank you Dr Thomas Murphy, you are not only a Doctor but you are also a person with a kind heart who feeds the hungry ! As a patient, I never experienced a special treatment like that! My 11 year old daughter has been complaining about headaches and vision problems while reading at school. I made an appointment for her to have an exam, the optometrist noticed something out of the ordinary during the exam, she re examined her and still was not sure but something wasn't right. She referred my daughter to a neurologist. The exceptional service came next. The dr. And Jennifer stopped what they were doing to show concern and help find numbers to call right there. We connected with our primary care physician, went for an MRI and discovered a problem that would have gone untreated had it not been for these two young ladies. What a frustrating experience... and it continues. However, Heather was friendly and competent --she realized that they had made 3 attempts to make the correct size lenses and that it just wasn't right. She was apologetic. It has been almost 2 months (and no glasses). For example, on the last attempt, they were to add 3 mm to the height of the lenses--instead--they increased 3 mm on each side (the width) (they said someone changed the 'A' Measurement to a 'B' measurement on their paperwork)--boy did those glasses look strange. During the 2 months, we heard many stories that changed; we were told conflicting stories; and there were continuous delays with accompanying excuses that made no sense. For me, it was a tremendous waste of time and energy-- too many telephone calls, trips, letters--and no glasses that worked. After we contacted our vision insurance, they turned nasty (The Manager, My-Hanh) and said that they wouldn't deal with me and would not return telephone calls and even tried to blame me for the problems. read more

My daughter has had to wear glasses since she was about 5... this was the 1st time I had ever had a Dr. give us exercises we can do at home to strengthen her eyes... and the 1st time a Dr. Interacted in a personable and educational manner with my daughter to get her to understand the importance of wearing her glasses. Dr. Pham was very engaging and probed my daughter into coming up with answers, as far as if she wanted to be able to use only one eye or two as an adult... I'll definitely be coming back...but only for her... We received good customer service, except for the extremely long wait. The only draw back to the facility was the waiting area. Not much seating and not enough employees to handle the work load. There was also not much of a selection for children's glasses, so we went to the other location on Sunrise in Citrus Heights. Worst experience ive ever had at optometrist! Mistake after mistake by different workers! It started with getting my prescription sunglasses made here..waited 3 weeks and when they finally came in, the lenses were wrong, so had to send them back in and they told me they would put a rush on it. The rush took another 2 weeks smh. Ok fine...got them in right 2 more weeks later and had to get them adjusted. The lady heated up the frame without covering the lenses and cracked the anti reflective coating on them *sigh* they told me they would order new lenses and i could keep my glasses untill they come in and they could easily swap them out. Ok fine.. went on for weeks wearing them with cracked coating. Finally went in yesterday to get them installed and another lady tries to replace the lens but breaks it instead and BLEEDS all over my frame!! So now i have to wait for them to send them in again since they dont know what theyre doing there..still waiting for them to come back. I wonder what other idiotic mistake they will do next. I visited the Eye Design Optometry today and had to wait over an hour to see a Service Representative. Because I didn't need an exam, they took the customer that had an exam before me. The receptionist had a "nonchalant attitude" and really didn't care that I waited so long. I decided that there are other eye glass companies in the area that would provide better customer service and left. I would not recommend this firm to anyone seeking good service. read more

When we finally asked what was taking so long they told us that they couldn't find the chart. After another 10 minutes I was asked to come back to another test, which I didn't understand because I had just been back there they should have done the test when I was back there the first time. After that test it took about another 15 minutes before I was seen. Once seen the guy rushed through my appointment and sent me back out to purchase new frames. I was told then to wait for an available person to help me choose the frame. After about 15 more minutes and 3 walk ins I finally decided that my time and money was better spent some where else. when my mom went to pay the copay and complain about the way we were treated or untreated the receptionist was like oh sorry just sign here and then said bye now. I thought the Doctor was good and explained everything but I agree with other the customer service is horrible. On top of it they were supposed to send me my RX via email.....well that was 2 weeks ago. I went there looking for a pair of prescription Oakley sunglasses. They didnt have the pair i wanted but assured me they could order them for me. the lady helping me went over the costs and it came out to be $87 with my insurance. Then i asked if there were any additional costs. I asked about 3 times since I didnt want to find out later that there was an extra $100 or something. Finally she says there could be one additional fee. There was and it increased the price from $87 to $236. She purposely left this out and wasn't going to tell me. I am very upse that i almost paid $87 just to be lied to. DONT BUY HERE!!!!!!!! read more
