My appointment is at 11:50am on a Monday. I arrived on time. I was told there is one more customer in front me and might run few minutes late. I saw that customer left and others stepping into the exam room. I was still waiting. By 12:25pm, I was still waiting. I asked the same assistant again and she explained they were running late and as of right now, there was still an additional customer in front me. And she suggested the option to reschedule after over half an hour wait!! Why inform me only few minutes late at first place? At the end, My appointment ran over 50 mins late!! If I had been informed the wait will be more than over 30 mins truthfully in the beginning, I would have rescheduled to next time. Zero respect of customers' time at all. Not a place that I will recommend to others nor come back in the future. read more

Dr. Lee, who checked my eyes gave me huge amount of attitude from the moment I walked in. She was very impatient with her attitude and responses. She even used hand gestures to express her irritation when replying to my question. She was condescending enouncing each word and spoke slowly in a way that you knew she was mocking you. When I was dismissed from her and it was time to try on glasses, no one among many staff came forward to help. They would rather chat with each other than come offering help. I had to catch one staff and told her that the doctor told me to try on glasses. She seemed confused and went on to the other side to check a file. Apparently my file was just left on the counter and no one was informed about what to do next with this customer. After I finally tried the glasses and wanted to leave with my prescription, the staff seemed confused again and had to find help from her co-worker. The other girl took a few minutes to get me my prescription and had similar attitude as the doctor when she asked me, "you need anything else?" I didn't know it was done, there was no clear indication, lack of confirming that's it, thanks or good bye, etc. She handed me a paper and was writing things on my file without saying a word. They place a paper on the glass table and that was it. If you want any service done in this place, be VERY proactive cause may workers here would pass you time and time again without asking if you need any help. Don't assume you will be take care of. Most likely they will forget you are even there. read more

I love Eye on Design! I tagged along with my boyfriend and his family a couple of times before getting a set of prescription sunglasses for myself, and I'm so happy about it. One of selling points for me was the fact that they have SOOOO many great selections to choose from. One the workers mentioned that they get new styles every week. That's insane! Most of their frames are high end (ex. Prada, Gucci, Ray Bans), but there are a few sections towards the back, right side of the store if you're facing the door entrance, that have models that are a little more affordable. They also have styles that are more for the older folks as well, and best thing is that they have cool styles that have nose pieces, for those like me who have no nose bridge. In addition, they do have contact lenses available. I personally have not tried contact lenses, so I'm not sure what the qualifications are, but they offer colored lenses too. The location is pretty hidden, in between a few restaurants and a neighborhood, but it's right off of Valley Blvd. in between Abbot Ave. and Bencamp St. They have limited parking on the side on Bencamp St., but since it's near a neighborhood, it's easy to street park if needed, since it does get quite busy sometimes. The inside of their office can get quite crowded, but they do have seating throughout the whole office which makes it great for older folks who don't really want to be there and want to take a nap, or kids who run out of energy or need to be controlled. They also have candy in the front of the office, if you need to bribe your kids with a treat, or if you're like me and can go for some yummy sweets. As I mentioned before, the can get very very very busy. So it's best to make an appointment, it might also be required for an eye exam, but I'm not 100% sure. I went into the office only to pick out glasses, and did not need an appointment to do that. I have not received my glasses yet, it's only been four days, but lead time to receive your glasses will vary. My boyfriend got his within two weeks and I was given a lead time of one week. Since a lot of their products are high-end, the prices can be a bit high, but they do accept insurance! My insurance is through Eye Med, so if that's a carrier you have, they do accept it. The workers are very helpful and will walk you through your insurance plan and the pricing once you present all the information to them. I visited the office last Sunday and was greeted by Brian, who is AMAZING! I'm personally super indecisive and have a hard time making final decisions, but he was so helpful with the process of finding "the one". He's super personable, helpful, and attentive even when a rush of people were around. I came in knowing what style I liked, but he was able to select a good amount of frames that matched my style, and also threw in a few unique selections to see if it would be something I would be interested in. He gave me cool little facts about the frames, and his opinions. He's super into the eyewear field, the fashion world, and in general really passionate about helping his clients. He made the experience really easy and enjoyable. I believe he mentioned his availability is Tuesday, Thursday, and weekends. The workers at Eye on Design are all pretty nice. They all seem very real and will tell you what they think is best. Some more knowledgeable than others, and most, if not all, speak Chinese! So bring your parents, or come yourself, because they're really great. read more

I am absolutely beyond satisfied with my experience today. Earlier, I was feeling sick as I was shopping for glasses with my niece. After eating some bad dim sum I began to have stomach cramps and pains. The employee Brian assisted me in offering both my niece and I water and showed me where the bathroom was. He was able to see that I was not in the best physical and mental state and offered his services of water and using the restroom to help me recoup myself. As I finished using the restroom, Brian recommended some other great Dim Sum spots in the area because I was not satisfied with my experience today (P.S I live near Compton so no good DIM sum near me) I am truly appreciative of the service, intuition, and care I received from Brian and his understanding of what it is like to have bad Dim Sum. He also recommended some beautiful glasses for my niece. His understanding of frames and it's correlation to facial structure and features can not be matched. Mr. Brian is truly an expert and is developing into a young successful professional. His customer service was absolutely top notch and there is nothing I would change about my experience today as embarrassing as it was. Everyone else is nice attending to every customer that walks in. It gets really busy so you have to SPEAK UP if you need help. You can't just walk in and expect catered red carpet service. This is the SGV, that's not how we roll. If you're here for an exam, then ask for Dr. Li. You SAVE TIME by making an appointment rather than being a walk-in. Yes, even with an appointment there is still a wait time but which doctor's office have no wait time. Dr. Li will answer all your questions and concerns, so be respectful when you're waiting since you would want the same TLC when you're being examed. They have the worst customer service. The only helpful person is Annie. They have so much staff and yet no one was helping us. When we asked they literally said "no I'm busy." They kept telling us to wait for the doctor to call our name but no one actually wrote us down in the appointment list to begin with so we were never called and it took asking the doctor himself to figure out what went wrong. But even the doctor dismissed us and said he was on his lunch break. So we were sent to the second doctor who condemned us by essential saying she couldn't do as well as a job on us because she wasn't the doctor who attended us last appointment. So she said to wait for the other doctor to finish his lunch break. So we were forced to wait again! After an 1 and half we finally got my eyes checked. I was ordering contacts and the doctor said I could call in to finalize the order next week. But one of the service staff argued we couldn't call and had to come back in. So we spent another half hour tracking down another staff member who wasn't busy to clarify. Turns out we were right. They were clueless. read more

I ordered contacts last in November 2016. They told me they would give me a call in 3 weeks when it arrived. January 2017 came, and I didn't receive a call. I called them, and they said they would check on my order and call me back. They didn't. I called again a week later. Same thing, no call. I called today, nearly 2 months after my order. We've been going to Eye On Design for almost 15 years. We've moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for over 10 years and we continue to go there for eyeglasses almost every year whenever I go visit my extended family who're still in the area. They have the best selection for all the shops in the area especially if you're looking for high-end frames. While they show the list prices of the frames, they do give some discount and I've gotten the best overall prices from them as compared to other shops. As a result, they're also among the busiest shops in the area which resulted in some of the complaints below, though I would definitely disagree with some people's complaints about poor customer services. Yes, their staff may not be always attentive when the shop is packed as a zoo, but whenever there're issues or if you need special arrangements or rush work, they'll always take good care of you. Most recently I made a mistake myself (which I won't elaborate here) and was ready to eat the cost of my mistake (several hundreds!), but the owner was kind enough to help me spare the cost which required her to do some extra work personally. And: - Yes you definitely should make an appointment if you need an eye exam. I was actually surprised that as busy as she always is, the optometrist easily spent over half-an-hour examining and photographing my eyes last time (some issues with computer screen exposures) and more thorough than when I saw an American/Caucasian ophthalmologist for a medical eye exam before. Yes if you are young with near perfect eyes, it may be shorter. But don't expect to walk in and get a time unless you're willing to wait for an uncertain amount of time. They're booked solid esp. during weekends, so treat that as any of your doctors' visits, make an appointment. - Yes they may not be attentive when busy, but they're always friendly and I never felt rushed. They're really nice people who genuinely care about your getting a great pair of eyeglasses including the owners and their large staff, but can be busy during weekends. read more

It would really help if you knew someone working here. Customer service is bad (depending on who you get) I came here on Sunday morning right when they open and there was 4 party a head of me. I made a mistake of not making an appointment hoping it wouldn't take so long. Some China man doesn't even greet just asked what are you here for? I asked contact exam today he then asked if I had an appointment I said no. He looked at me do you have some time to wait today because we are all book today. I said yeah about how long. He said idk maybe more then 1 hour. I'm thinking okay since I'm here why not. Then he walks away and helps someone else uhh really? Some young hipster looking dude asks me have you been helped I said no. He gets right to it grabs my folder signs me in etc etc. After an hour the hipster dude asks me would you like to go shopping for an hour then come by I could give you a call. I said sure! Ran my errands came back an hour I realized that my file had been moved down. I asked and he said ohh there's one more person a head of you and smiles -.- ANOTHER 45 mins passes by I asked another lady hey what's taking so long she checked and said I was next I told her I've waited for almost 3 hours now wtheck she apologized and said I know we are backed up patents are taking longer then usual. Then she said I can give you some free contacts for making you wait so long. Nice! FINALLY it's my turn! I felt that the doctor didn't thoroughly checked me. She asked about my eye site then quickly checked me and that was it. I asked did I slightly go up? She said no it doesn't look like it. What!??!!! I never knew that any optometry business did same day pick-up. You can get glasses literally asap here. My glasses were ready in an hour. It beats having to wait weeks. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and man was it packed. Luckily I already had an eye exam a few days earlier and got a copy of my prescription. They have some lenses in house usually lower prescription though and lucky for me they had mine. They have a lot of brand name glasses like Tom ford, ray ban, Gucci, fendi, Dior, Celine etc. they also have sunglasses. I happen to like a pair of Dior glasses. They were priced at $339. I spoke with Peggy who is actually the owner of the business and she was willing to give me a lower price. The end price was much lower than the original and compared to other nearby optometrists, the price of the frame and the lenses are very good. Golden which is across the street in the 99 ranch plaza charges almost double for the cost of lenses. I'm really happy with my experience and purchase. I got glasses right away and for a good price. Recently tried out Eye on Design and had a great experience in getting my new glasses. The eye exam itself was very business-y (no small talk or frills, which is fine by me), but the optometrist was helpful in explaining the nuances of how my astigmatism affected my prescription. For the frames, they have a massive (albeit pricey) selection and the staff are super helpful in providing recommendations and sorting through insurance information. My struggles are echoing some of the previous reviews: Overly Understaffed and Pointless Reservation Firstly I wanna say the service was okay, not really attentive but okay, they respond to you when they get a chance. The doc was extremely professional and answered all my questions patiently, after you finally get to see her though. Here comes my struggle. On 10/11/2018 I called in and made an appointment on 10/13/2018 for an optometry test, the lady answered the phone put me down for 4:50PM. I arrived to their store at around 4:40PM, soon enough they gave me a basic medical form to fill up and told me to wait. There were 7 staff on the floor and 1 doctor in the back room, the store was crowded. So I waited, waited, and waited, for over an hour. I didn't get to see the doctor until 5:50PM, and 7 walk-in customers were sent to the doctor before me. I know at least 6 of these groups were walk-ins because the lady over the phone told me that they give a 30-minute time frame for each appointment/reservation, or otherwise some of these customers had waited longer than I did. My question is, if you want to prioritize the walk-in customers instead of appointments/reservations, why do you take any appointments/reservations in the the first place? It's really sad when a store decide to waste customers' time carelessly. I understand that the store wants to make money and doesn't want the walk-ins to walk out, but making pointless reservations just contradicts the principles of having a business by refusing to fulfill the promises with their customers. I wish you see this review and prepare to wait for the unnecessary wait time. read more

Decided to come and try this place out after a friend suggested it. I have to say this little shop is amazing., they were quite busy upon my visit but you can not fault a business for doing well (Especially on Saturday afternoon in my case). When it was my turn I had their complete attention, and they showed me a bunch of styles similar to what I currently had and suggested some they thought would fit me well. And I ended up going with one that they recommended. They seem to have a few optometrist on staff here and I was seen Dr Tran, she was very peppy and nice, energetic may be a good way to describe her. In the end she was very nice and helpful. If you are in need of glasses this is great a place to go. Prices are on our with most optometrists slightly on the cheaper side, their selection is huge, and for most prescriptions they can get your glasses done in a hour. read more
