I seriously don't understand how I haven't written a review for my darling dearies at the Eyebrow Queen yet but please forgive thou. I absolutely love Camila and Swasti, the adorable sisters responsible for providing expert custie service and unsurpassed threading skills. I first embarked upon my newfound threading journey as the result of a Groupon but have become a die-hard fan of their work. Moving with the grace of a ballerina (minus the anorexia and chain-smoking), these ladies whip my haggard caterpillars into shape and allow me to leave the shop feeling like a divine thang. Their threading job is like none I've ever seen and I have absolutely never left disappointed or feeling like they did a less than perfect job. Unlike my old brow broad who legit wouldn't listen to me when I explained that I wanted something corrected or done differently, Camila and Swasti take the time to listen to their customers and truly value our input. The "shop" itself is actually a humble seating area that sits at the back of a shop right next to a pawn shop named Easy Money Pawn Brokers.There are just two seats in the facility, and there have been (very few, I should note) times when the twenty minute wait time and volume of names on the sign-in sheet absolutely horrified me. But that's how it is when you're dealing with an in demand, fabulous business. It is both to be expected and an indicator of how in demand these ladies are. The prices here are ridiculous... In the best way imaginable! As an individual used to paying a minimum of $12 for a brow wax, I practically fell over when I saw that $6 eyebrow threading description on the salon menu list. Unbelievable! But that doesn't include the hefty tip you better give these women for the hard work and excellent effort they put forth. Just remember: every time you're a cheap jerk and don't tip, the universe shaves a few years off your grandparents lives. Who knew tucked away inside this .. mall/store hole in the wall off one of the busiest streets in Oakland would be the most amazing threading place a girl could find? I can't take all the credit for it of course my girl Jessica B who discovered this hidden gem. It really is a gem. It all started with a Groupon and it was a killer sweet deal. But even without a Groupon, a regular eyebrow tread is only 6.99 per visit. Still cheaper than any other places that I've been to. Don't be thrown off by the location or how it's in the very back end of this wack Mexican store, I think it gives it the authenticity and the Yelp okay. I have no idea what her name is, she works alone, but have the hands of a god. She's so skilled in what she does and understands that CLEAN UP doesn't me give me SINGLE STRAIGHT LINES running across my forehead. She takes her sweet time, but it's actually not that long when you're in the chair. Waiting seems to take forever on the other hand. Her fingers are so nimble and she knows exactly where to thread. It's going to feel like she's taking the ENTIRE brow off, but stroke of genius she's really not and shaping it to her best abilities. It's clean and she's very sanitary (in case you're worried). I'm not sure making an appointment will help since she's always busy. But if you were to do a walk in, make sure you do it super early! A lot of people come through and the wait gets somewhat hectic depending on the time. She does a lot more than just eyebrows. Affordable, fast, friendly, and well-done! My first threading experience! Swasti and her sister Camila (spelling?) are two sisters from Nepal. They run a petite 2-chair "brow bar" in the heart of Fruitvale. I got wind of Eyebrow Queen through Groupon, bought a 3 session deelio. Brows are $6; upper lip, $5. Location & Parking: I found metered parking on 35th Avenue, just kitty-corner to the shop. I put in about $1.25 in coins for 40 minutes. The brow bar itself is kinda hard to find. I had to walk up and down a bit before I found the correct address. It's on the corner of International and 35th Ave. There is no building sign marking the shop so look for the giant red awning with EASY MONEY PAWN BROKERS in yellow and white on it. Eyebrow Queen is in a tiny, tiny strip mall to the immediate right of the pawn brokers if you are facing the front of the pawn shop. You will see a small tented wooden sign for Eyebrow Queen on the side walk. Go in the little mall, pass the ladies' accessories and EQ will be in the back on the right. The brow artists will be there to greet you! Threading: Camila worked her magic with a bunch of white strings hanging out of her mouth. The string gets spun around your facial hairs like a fine lawn mower! It's super fast and doesn't make that nasty ripping sound like waxing does! It does hurt an eensy bit but I just exhaled each time she threaded. I think I prefer it now to waxing! Service: These ladies were efficient and hospitable. I liked how my stylist sterilized her hands with degermer before she worked on me. There was NO WAIT when I arrived and I did not need an appointment. Overall, a positive, affordable way to support small woman-run business! They also do henna tattoos in the shop, starting at $10 and up. I've also been getting threaded for 13 years and love telling my friends how it's never painful and so much better than waxing. I almost flinched and throat punched this sweet 15 year old looking child doing my eyebrows at least 26 times. I somehow told myself it'd be worth it cuz I'd walk out with some clean arches and forget about it. Unfortunately I now have some weirdly round brows that don't taper at the end. That experience was great. 4 Stars! My eyebrows aren't the worst, but not a fan of how they came out. One is shaped perfectly and the other... not so much she left my left brow a lot more rounded and thicker. 3 stars. BOTH WORKERS VERY SICK AND STILL THREADING!!! Was coughing through entire time she was threading my brows. I have been going here for years because it's cheap and convenient. I got my eyebrows microbladed so it's a super easy job to do I just come in so I don't have to do it at home myself and it's already a drawn outline I don't have to worry about it being a specific shape or to arched, but the women who did mines took off the entire top of my brow! I didn't notice when she showed me the mirror because I was like oh how could they mess it up? She took off a quarter of the top of my brow from the front to the tail. I was looking in the mirror and wondered why my brows look so weird and it was because I was missing hair so all u saw was the microbladed brow. Also she was coughing the entire time she was doing my brows! Not just a small dusty cough she had to step back several times to let out 6-8 big coughs. I needed to get my eyebrows cleaned up and wanted to try threading because I normally plucked or waxed at the salon. I was a little nervous because I heard it hurt a little bit, but the girl that helped me was super quick and thorough.I loved the shape of my eyebrows afterwards. The process took less than 10 minutes. It took a little getting used to the feeling of threading and my eyelids were quite sensitive, so my eyes watered a little bit, but overall great experience and will be coming back! $8 threading if you pay with card, $7 with cash. It pains me to write this review and I have been going over it since last night whether to say anything but my eyebrows are really disappointing. I go to this place a lot to get my eyebrows done. Rarely do they mess my brows up and I love threaded brows more than wax. So I come in around 6pm and there's two ladies there. One was a new face. Her brows were pretty so I sit down and explain to her the shape brow I like. Please don't round them. Just take this part off. Like a clean up. I even show her a picture of what they did last time which I loved.she said it was a really nice picture and she would try. Let's just say it was a fail. She took way too much brow off. One eyebrow is going up higher than I've ever seen happen and they are thin. I hate thin brows. I explained to her I didn't like it and how high she took it. She was soft spoken and really didn't understand her accent too clearly but it seemed she was trying to convince me it was fine because of how my brows were difficult? Or different shapes? Not exactly sure all I know is I got home for a better look. Even took pictures. Their lighting isn't the best there. I had one brow tail that looks wavy. Like she took too much and left the rest there to make up for it. She kept brushing my brow hair to shape it or cover it it. Not sure. There were spots above my brow on the left that had a patch of hair where she didn't clean it up. She trimmed my brows uneven. Just so much upset me when I got home. Then my mom points out she went too far right on my right brow so it's shorter than the other. After filling it in, I was able to make them presentable but I shouldn't have to pencil in that much brow just to look ok and they are still thin.I got my brows done on my birthday and they messed up that day as well. I requested an appointment for lash extensions through Yelp and Sangita reached back to me immediately, fitting me in her tight schedule which I truly appreciate because I was in need of getting them done before an event. The salon is located on International and street parking is very hard to find, so come early. Sangita took me into the back room when I walked in and did a classic set medium long (~$99) on me. The process took an hour and a half and what surprised me the most was how their lash glue barely stung my eyes compared to other places. All in all, I really love how my lashes turned out! It's so beautiful, yet natural looking. I definitely recommend this place to get lashes done. Prices are reasonable and customer service is great. Thank you so much Sangita, you are a life saver! I do not have eyebrow skills. This place in Oakland and one other place in Sac or Davis , CA,I will go to. I took a picture of the before of my brows. The girl made a mistake - she started the second brow by taking off the entire natural top, curved line of my brow...now I do have to use a fill in. I look like a damn fool. I asked for clean up of the bottom ... that was it. As soon as She made the mistake She stops . Then she tried to get me to agree it was already that way... that's why I took a picture and said " only a clean up , thanks." I was all set to give 5 stars but ... damn. I look stupid. The two women working tried to say " oh you had on makeup maybe ." As in before she started ... I do not wear makeup , my brows WERE my makeup .... she was there when I took the BEFORE picture ! I still think this place is really good. Good enough to wait weeks until I'm in the bay to get them done. Which is pretty crappy since my face looks like a sleep over prank , gone good. I researched A LOT on yelp b/c the FIRST time I got lashes put in it was a Straight AMERICAN HORROR STORY!!! ommmgggggggg! All I'm going to say is that I looked like Tammy Faye Baker at the Tranny Shack!!!!!! LIKE FOR REAL FOR REAL. It was seriously no bueno. Anyway, I was soooo scared b/c I wanted to look nice and feel FABULOUS on my big day! Well, I really couldn't have picked a better spot! when I came in she was still working with another client and I had to wait. Like everyone mentioned it's a small place and it's nothing really fancy, but it looked clean enough. There was a little girl running around getting in to stuff but she was cute and whatever, it's obviously a family business and it wasn't anything bad. I was asked a few times if I wanted my eyebrows done...FINALLY I gave in b/c yeah...they WERE a mess! So I sat and got threaded. They did a good job...my brows were pretty jacked and thin from my last salon visit elsewhere where she pretty much took allllll my brows off. But they cleaned me up and tried to give me some shape. it was alright. I noticed they also do henna tattoos too. seriously thought about getting it done on my feet and lower legs but changed my mind. maybe next time. soooo she's finally ready for me and she is very gentle with a calm presence...very good for the work that she does! She spent about 2 hours I wanna say putting the lashes in. I fell asleep for a while so I'm not quite sure. but it was super relaxing. When I woke up she showed me the mirror and WOW! I was blown away by how NATURAL they look!!!!! They really just look like my own lashes except fuller and longer! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! Oh, another thing is the first place I got my lashes done I had a SERIOUS reaction to the glue and it was all over my damned eyelids. This place I barely even know that the lashes are there...no reaction and I can't see any glue at all. I wish I had the money to just do this regularly but I don't think I do. lol. anyway, I would highly recommend and I will definitely be back!!!! read more

At first glance small space nothing fancy small waiting area. Brazilian: Honestly wasn't expecting much in this area ... but she was very gentle and thorough didn't miss a hair even went in with tweezers. Eyebrow Touch up: Awesome! It was my first time getting one and she made the experience very comfortable and offered me great advice on how to care for myself afterwards.
