He immediately recognized that the medication I had previously been prescribed by my regular doctor was making my condition worse and prescribed the correct treatment instead. That alone meant a lot, and it made a huge difference in my recovery. I later returned for my annual exam and updated prescription, and once again had an excellent experience. Dr. Moyer is professional, knowledgeable, and efficient, yet never makes you feel rushed. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients. The staff was just as wonderful--friendly, welcoming, and helpful from the moment I walked in. I left feeling confident, cared for, and grateful. My procedures began with LASIK, for my distance vision and then moving on to a KAMRA Inlay to correct my reading vision, and most recently, Dr. Dornic performed cataract surgery on both eyes (July/Aug 2026). Each procedure was entirely painless, efficient, and highly successful. I now have 20/20 vision and have not had the need for glasses at 67 years old. Dr. Dornic is a master surgeon with an incredible bedside manner, taking the time to listen to my concerns and explain necessary corrective procedures. Both clinics in Cary and Smithfield use state-of-the-art technology, and the staff is exceptionally professional and organized. If you are considering any vision correction or cataract surgery, Dr. Dean Dornic is the only doctor I would use. I cannot recommend him and his team highly enough.

The office and exam rooms are very outdated and cramped, dirty and uncomfortable. The office staff is also lack luster. The office manager is very rude, doesn't do her job and blames the patient for any issues (even though she is the one who is supposed to file insurance and get the pre approval). After my mom's cataract surgery (performed by Dr Dornic) she had other concerns and after a year and a half they were still not addressed. She is no longer a patient.

The office manager never sent me a statement for the surgery and when I went in for one of my follow up appointments from the procedure she denied me access to the doctor and my appointments until I paid in full. She was rude and embarrassed me in front of the entire waiting room which was very unprofessional. I had to sell my personal heirlooms to come up with the cash to pay for the surgery because she would not entertain the idea of me paying payments. After all that, my eye sight is no better and I have gained an astronomical hospital bill to boot.

I ask if they can change out my lenses. if told me yes . they charge my insurance company 324 dollars wipe out my frame and lens coverage. I will have to wait 12 months to Day to be able to get dual lenses and frames. I paid them additional $20 to order my lenses then the next day I cancel because I went to Walmart and got Rayban's for $55. they charged me 90 bucks . I would not recommend nobody to go there and get ripped off and honesty goes along way when you're dealing with the public.

Being I couldn't make my eye exam appointment by the end of the year (2024) and didn't want to lose my $300 insurance allowance on new glasses, I called the Smithfield office and explained my situation and asked if I could get a copy of my last eye prescription from 2023 so I could at least go get a new set of glasses and not lose my $300 allowance and I explained that my vision was good and hadn't changed over the past year. I had also explained that I had called another Eye Care Center to ask if they allowed this and the lady at the other office explained that they had done that before and it was usually up to the eye doctor. The lady at the Smithfield office rudely said "sir I don't think we do that at which I explained that I had contacted another office who said they they had issued a prescription in the past bu it would be up to the eye doctor! Again in a rude vo she said I don't think we do it at which I asked that she ask the eye doctor to see because of my situation. At this point I knew it wasn't going to happen based on her attitude and when she said that he was busy and that she would have to call me back. After a day and a half I hadn't heard back so I called back and asked if she had talked with the doctor and she said he said no he wouldn't, I would need to come in for an eye exam which I ex again it wasn't possibly! Over the past 3 months they have called and worried the mess out of me once a week trying to schedule my eye exam and this is even with me blocking their number but they can still leave a message. So with times already being tough due to the economy they caused me to lose $300 to get a much needed new pair of glasses. Never will I use Eye Care Center or recommend them to anyone. The eye doctor could have shown some compassion and written me a prescription but was selfish and chose not to. One day he will be in a situation where he will need some assistance and help and I hope it doesn't happen!!

They don't really acknowledge you when you come in unless you say hello first. They are not rude, just not friendly either. And expect to wait a while. Even if your appointment is first thing in the morning, the waiting room will be packed with numerous people having the same appointment time. Just when you think they are going to see you, they take you to a smaller waiting room to wait some more. But overall, solely on the aspect of the surgery, I strongly recommend this office. Dr. Dornic has won numerous awards for what he's done and I have no complaints about him.
