Meh...could it be better? Definitely! In my opinion, my expectation of night clubs in California are much higher, reasonably so, than clubs in Boston and RI. I went here last Friday and it was fun... I mean I am not a fan of the people... but the music was my favorite of the night!!! I can listen to hip-hop all night long!!! I was sober so I can't tell you about the alcohol... but I can tell you that they don't serve water in cups... you have to buy a bottle of water... and they are like 8 oz bottles... so sip wisely LMAO Great music... ratchet people with ratchet attire... Out on the town for a girl's night out, we weren't planning on stopping in here, but one of the bouncers stopped us as we were walking by. They told us to come in, so we asked if there was a cover charge. I believe they told us it was $5 for cover, and being the snooty girls that we are that don't like paying cover, we politely told him no thanks. He then gave us this look that pretty much said, "Ok, let me see what I can do." Then, he proceeded to walk us down into the club, bypassing the cashier and straight to the bar. He whispered a few words to the bartender and she made us 6 Washington Apples! Cool, free entry and free drinks... no complaints here. So, as for F6ix itself, the club is pretty small and isn't very visually appealing. When we were there, it was probably 10 something already and it was pretty dead. Our group was one of the only ones in the whole club. We stayed and danced for a little while and then we moved on to other bars in Gaslamp. Visited this club for the first time and as far as nightclubs go....my overall experience was simply "Average". I was invited here by a friend who was celebrating her last weekend in Cali. Overall the music was good...A lot of today's as well as classic and old school hip hop music. It would of been nice to hear other genre's and the dance floor was way to small. read more

F6ix - Dance Clubs Near Me - San Diego, California

This place loves to do what I call, line stalling. Keep people out in line, trickle them in randomly especially as the guest list gets close to closing. Know that parking sucks and arrive early, to me, its worth avoiding cover. Not sure how much I would have liked it if I had to pay a cover, but luckily I didn't. (On a Friday). The venue isn't very big but it's big enough, the female bartenders aren't wearing much. Drinks are pretty standard price for downtown which is on the high side. I went with a group that was responsible for a good amount of the people in there so I can be sure in my honest assessment how packed it is on a friday but the line was pretty long and the dance floor is maneuverable but not wide open most of the night. I think its a 3 star venue, but I give it another star because it plays consistently hip hop music (not underground or anything but top 40) which I've yet to experience in SD. Yea they could diversify a bit more, I heard some old school, some mid 90's etc but mostly it's what you'd hear on the radio over the last few months. Thats just fine by me compared to most places I've been out here. Sure most places have a song or two but before you know it, it's house music for the rest of the night. If thats your thing, then more power to you but I prefer the music here to anywhere I've been out in SD thus far. read more

Ohhhhh welcome back to the single life and I start it here? No good. We go in with a group of 2 girls and 4 guys. The bouncer stops us guys and makes us wait...for a while. I kindly tell him that we were a group and he just stares at me and then minutes later uses his really cool walkie talkie to radio the secret service for confirmation. He gives me the nod and after paying $20 for cover, we find the place is completely empty. Way to defend the fort kind sir! Music was decent and met some cool people. I don't tend to go to clubs often, however this was for a friend's private birthday party. Getting to the location was super easy and the staff was awesome. I like all types of music and this being my first hip-hop club I was really impressed. The DJ was good, the drinks were served fast and the staff really took care of the wet floors quickly (people tend to spill drinks when they dance / drink!). Drinks were pricey...I paid $17 for a Red Bull & Vodka, hence the 3 star rating. What I care the most about in a club is the quality of the music: this place is all about the hip-hop. That's right, no house, no top 40, no lame remixes. This is all about the hip hop music. Now some house vibes might come through, but house and hip hop intersect a lot these days. Some people might complain about the types of music but knowing is half the battle so don't complain about the type of music being played here. It's a hip hop club. I thought the prices for drinks weren't bad, a little on the high side but it is expected downtown. The music was solid: if you're in to hip hop. If you're not, then don't come writing a nasty review because you're not informed. I had no issues with the guestlist, but always let management know what happened. Came here for a friend's birthday party thing. Wasn't really impressed. The venue wasn't that big and the line was pretty long, but luckily my friend was in front so we got in fairly quickly. Since we (including the guys) were on the guest list, we didn't have to pay a cover (and we came on a Friday night too). Parking sucked as per usual, but nothing new there. I'm not a huge fan of the music. It was mainly Top 40 hits that I'm not too fond of on the radio. At least play a remix of it or something? The dance floor was tiny, and if you want to go outside for fresh air, they cut off a tiny portion of the sidewalk with rope... *not cute*. Also, the people were GROSS. Not a fan of the peeps. Lots of potential, but this place just doesn't live up to it. $20 cash cover charge on Saturday night. When we arrived around 10:30, there wasn't much of a crowd, but the bartenders still couldn't keep up. My $13 vodka lemonade was very short & weak and the staff not very pleasant (though if I had to wear lingerie as my uniform, I might be cranky too). The music was decent (hip hop & rap) and there was room to move on the dance floor, but the crowd was like 80% women and mostly in their young 20's. Came here on a Friday night excited because we were told this place was lit. The bouncer (tall black man skinny with glasses ) was a huge douche bag !! He was so rude to me and my friends for no reason !!! We had just started the night with no drinks and he wouldn't let us in because we "were too intoxicated". Mind you , this was our first stop and we hadn't had any alcohol yet. We left, and came back Saturday night. We decided to come here first because we were completely sober and didn't want him to be rude again. We walk up and he starts cussing at my sister for no reason. He is very disrespectful. The customer service I received here makes me confident to tell you that I would NEVER go back here. We got bottle service on a Friday night and was charged $70 for gratuity and the waitress poured one drink and NEVER came back... and the club was NOT busy AT ALL!! The security guard on the patio told us since we got a table we could go to a specific room JUST FOR VIP to smoke... I went to request this room with our waitress who then told me that some one was in there and we could NOT go in. Great customer service and nice bottle pricing! Music was purely hip hop. Some songs were GREAT jams, while other songs they played were meant to be forgotten. I prefer the music at F6 over FLUXX. Two floors?? Heck yes!! The top floor has r&b and hip hop music. It's a big space good enough to dance. But please do not try and sit on those big speakers Because they will tell you to get off. The second floor is really good too because it has music like reggeaton, merengue, Cumbia and just latin music. They have a bar down stairs too. Came here for a GNO. Place is really small, drinks are expensive and small and they charged my friends full price for their drinks even though they said it was happy hour! Used to come here bc it was easy to slide in for free as a female & they are one of the only spots that aren't playing EDM or pop music but even then, DJs are consistently mediocre or repetitive. It's small & super dry on a lot of nights. Guys usually outnumber girls by a long shot, so guys good luck and girls, enjoy your free drinks lol. I went with Eventvibe to the grand opening of Ruby Fridays. F6ix (not crazy about the name) is a mediocre, lackluster hip-hop club. The music was alright, top-40'ish but the venue is way too small. I think other Yelpers will agree that you can have fun here but you'll have a better time at Fluxx or another nearby club. The club is definitely upscale and polished, however, the setup is pretty awful. Lets just say when I wanted to leave I did the logical thing that got me by the past 23 years, use the door I entered through, right? WRONG. If you want to leave you have to walk through the entire club to find the exit. The club is in kind of a L-shape and around the perimeter is the VIP tables. If you want to dance, not exactly my forte, but none the less if you want to "teach me how to dougie," forget about it. The only place to move is just the small space around the bar. Personally, I didn't run into this problem, but the girls I brought complained about an awkward, uncomfortable amount of booty grabbing by the crowd. I'm thinking it was a space issue but who knows? Almost forgot, this place is HOT.....Temperature wise. My advice, find an air vent and take stock in that airspace. The drinks were not the most expensive I've ever experienced, averaged about 10 bucks a drink. The bartenders are beautiful girls wearing next to nothing... Jackpot. You would think the hotter the bartenders the worse the service but I am surprised to say that I waited about 4 minutes for a drink, if that, at a packed bar. You could also infer that bartenders of this caliber would be rude. WRONG again. The staff was very professional and engaging. The VIP tables and bottle service were great. The section I was sitting in was right next to the DJ booth and it was pretty sizable. I think the area was a little bit bigger than the other booths. None the less, good service. Overall, this club is just alright. Nothing really stood out for me to make this place one of my regular hangouts. I think I may try this club again in the future to see if they worked out any of the kinks. read more

I'll be upfront with you right now, I'm not a big fan of clubbing. So when I go downtown it's usually because I'm being dragged by friends and I'm finding some reason to justify it to myself like "Oh well, lets check out a new venue, hopefully the music will be good." I first tried coming here a couple weeks ago but there was a line out the door that wasn't moving. My guess was that it was really popular. This attempt, a friend of mine put us on the guestlist and we arrived super early (9:30pm) and got in no problem. I realize now why there was a non-moving line, it's not because they're super exclusive or popular... the venue is just tiny. There's a few tables (maybe ~8) and a dance floor right in front of the DJ with a projector. The entire place probably fits less than 60 people. I feel like the small size can go one of two ways. 1) If you exhaust the pool of chicks you're trying to hit on, time to change places. 2) If you're going with a group of friends it's more intimate. The saving grace for F6ix are the hot scantily clad bartenders behind the counter. If I were planning an event downtown I'd consider this place but I feel like there are better venues downtown at the moment. read more

Arrived at 10:30 p.m. Waited about 10 - 15 minutes in line, When we neared the front the female "bouncer" checked my ID as she thought it was a fake. She called on her manager and he looked at it and questioned me about my ID. He left to go inside the club and finally after 10 minutes, he let me in the club stating that a certain part of my ID was barely visible. My card is legit and this is the only spot that has questioned me on it. They need to hire experienced security because that was a waste of time. After finally entering the club, we toured downstairs, paid the $10 and made our way to this medium sized bar/lounge. The cover was at least reasonable which is a positive, the drinks on the expensive side. The dance floor was in the back and moderate in size but was quickly crowded by an array of people. The crowd was very ethnic and diverse which was good to see and the music was perfect, if hip hop is your thing. I will definitely hit up this club again. Casual dress attire. Overall, a good spot to check out if you want to chill, drink, and get your grove on. read more

No wonder this place only has 2.5 stars... AWFUL PLACE. It was my birthday and a few of my girlfriends were going out. We went to Double Deuces first after we had been at Tipsy Crow, it was around 1:30am and of course they said they weren't serving anymore. We decided to call it a night and to wait outside as we ordered Pizza to be delivered to our apartment. Thats when we started getting insulted, pressured, and harassed. The security guards of F6ix kept trying to move us from the small part of the sidewalk that we were standing on. Last time I check the sidewalk was public property! This was on going for about 30 mins and they finally left us alone when we told them that we werent going to move and we will record them for their behavior. Seriously the sidewalk is not your property and we werent block an entrance, causing a sceen, or damaging any of your property. One of them even called a girl in our group as a dumb B****. This place is awful, rude, and have horrible people working for it. Honestly I will never go to f6ix for how it treats common people and the terrible staff they have. read more

From the Bartenders, waitstaff, cocktail servers and security...they're all well mannered while still showing they know how to have fun! Not the best club in Downtown! My experience with this venue is not so great. 1. Went online to get on the guest list @ 1130am, received confirmation email @ 400pm. Arrived at the club @ 1015pm, name was not on the list. Lady was nice though and gave us the ticket anyway. 2. Waited in line for 30 minutes. 3. Venue is extra small with no where to sit unless you get table service. 4. Music is ghetto. Hip hop is the only music I listen too however this club, plays rap. 5. We had coat check service. So, when we were ready to leave, we walked back to get our coats but they won't let you leave at the nearest exit. You have to walk back into the club, through the drunken crowd to the totally opposite end of the venue to leave. This venue is not upscale at all and left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

Very UNSAFE practice... New Years Eve 2011-2012... we got to the club before 9, so it was good. by 1030, the place was so crowded, each person has less than 3/4 sqft of space. It was oversold and very unsafe. i'm not sure how many safety and fire codes they broke that night. the only way you can move is to push the person infront of you, hoping for that person to push the person infront of him. domino effect, thats the only way to move... people are getting fondled and groped. Women cant say anything because they dont know who did it... WOMEN, dont go here... very unsafe... i paid for the pre-sale ticket for $110. they sold over twice the capacity. read more
