Well, in trying to put this mantra into motion, I saw the pile of…read morenew work pants that have been in my closet waiting for me to get off my lazy butt to finally get them hemmed so I could actually wear them, so I looked up local tailors and found European Tailors. It's been ages since I last had alterations done (pre-pandemic at least!) so I didn't even know what the going rate was to hem women's work pants. After reading the positive reviews about their excellent skills and reasonable prices I took 4 pairs to them. This is a small shop inside an older shopping center in Artesia that also houses the Nilly's Neighborhood Burger joint and a PCB Bank. It's run by a husband and wife (I think the gentleman mentioned they're from Turkey). I tried each pair on so he could pin them to mark how much needed to be hemmed. I asked if they would use the original stitching as some alteration places in the past just used a machine to stitch a straight line across which didn't match the original hem. They said they could. Usually the turnaround time is a few days, but since they were so busy he asked if I could come back in one week. I didn't need the pants back soon so that was fine. I was charged $12 per pair which I felt was extremely fair. As I drove away I realized that I actually did need one of the pants back a day earlier than agreed upon. I called and asked if it was possible to expedite that one pair and the rest could be finished later. The kind tailor said no problem. To my surprise when I stopped by to just pick up the one pair I needed sooner, he had completed all 4 pairs. He did a wonderful job - my pants were beautifully hemmed. Excellent tailoring skills, friendly husband/wife duo, and good pricing. I will definitely be bringing all my alteration business here from now on.

This included adding bustles, hemming a few inches off, and taking in the waist. She even added a few extra clasps to the back button area just for security and added a finger loop for my long train. I think the pricing was a great value, but it will depend on material type, amount of layers, etc, do call ahead of time for a rough estimate. I will definitely keep coming to her if I have any other alteration needs!

Thankfully, Dalla's gave it a shot and they were amazing. They removed all of the makeup stains and missed spots that the other dry cleaners didn't take care of.
