Great tamales at great prices! Salsa verde chicken was my favorite, and also enjoyed the mole poblano. Pink lemonade/agua de Jamaica mix was also amazing.

I traditionally think of tamales as a breakfast food, but outside of the D.F. one is not spoiled with options. So I begrudgingly visited Factory Tamal on a second lunchtime attempt to try the vegetarian tamales, which are only available after noon. I had my typical favorite which is rajas con queso - it was not a bad tamale, but I found it a bit underseasoned compared to other preparations I've tasted in the past.

On a side street in LES makes this place harder to find but worth the walk! It's super cute with some seating and fast service. We ordered the pastrami (The Ludlow) and the turkey torta to dine it. The food came within 10-15 minutes and each torta was $13 and well packed with food and flavor. They have additional hot sauce as well - but the food was sooo good and filling!

I've lived in the area for 3 years and have walked by numerous times without ever stepping foot inside. Don't make the same mistake as me and sleep on this place. It is freaking amazing. It honestly doesn't look like much but boy are these tortas delicious. I've been twice and have had the chicken tinga tortas and the Ludlow. Both are delicious sandwiches and worth a revisit on its own. I've also had the tinga soup and it's some of the best I've had anywhere. And of course, you have to try it's namesake tamales. I've had the mole pablano the chipotle chicken tamales and would recommend the mole. They also gave me the wrong one once and it was vegetarian one. I definitely do not recommend it. They made a mistake but it happens. You should definitely visit this spot.

On a food crawl mission, was not sure what to expect but noted its remarkable resemblance to Chinese Lotus Wrapped Rice which we have during Full Moon Festival or Dim Sum. Extremely appreciative of how much chicken is in each of these tamales and how moist it is. Flavourful but not overwhelming. 1/ Mole Pablano Chicken Tamale 2/ Salsa Verde Chicken Tamales 3/ Chipotle with Chicken Tamal 4/ Horchata The space is a small shop for a quick bite, not a dine in. Definitely will be back post training when in the neighbourhood!!

The best and most affordable bacon egg and cheese in LES! I have done pick up multiple times and sat there to eat once. Their egg sandwich has the option to add bacon, sausage, or cheese (bacon egg and cheese costs $5.5). Their egg sandwich comes with a tasty chipotle mayo on a soft brioche bun. Their tamales are also the best in the area ($5 per) - always fresh and delicious. There is usually only 1 person cooking in the back and 1 person taking orders so it's not always the best spot to grab something if you're in a rush, but if you have some time or order ahead to pickup, this is a great spot. Their coffee is also cheap, but not my favorite as I find it quite bitter. Staff is very kind and the food is great. Things to know: - only 10-12 seats inside, but most people do not eat there; not suitable for large groups - not always open right at 8:30am - recommended to order ahead and pick up Link to full menu on their website: https://www.factorytamal.com/blank-page

Officially my tamal / torta spot in the LES - soo good! I first learned of this place through the Eater video, captivated by the owner's love and commitment to his traditional homemade tamal recipe. Months later, I was reminded to try them out when I found Factory Tamal on Allset, located nearby. I'd been craving horchata anyway, so I was excited to place an order. My boyfriend and I basically inhaled our tamales. I got the Salsa Verde w/ Chicken ($4) while my boyfriend got the Chipotle w/ Chicken ($4). I loooved both. He also got the Torta de Tinga ($9.50), and after trying a few bites I was mad I didn't get one for myself. Such regrets. Will definitely need to come back for all of the above. The horchata ($3.50) was a bit disappointing, however, since it was pretty sandy/chalky. The flavor was good and it did satisfy my craving, but not the best out there.

Came here after watching the amazing Eater video for Factory Tamal - didn't disappoint! The quality in the tamales is impeccable. The store is cozy and there are a few seats. I liked the decor and vibes, very colorful. We tried three different tamales, my favorite was the bacon + cheese one. I'll have to be back to try the mole! I'll definitely be back to try more tamales and other items on the menu!

Really enjoyed their tortas (the torta de tinga and the torta de longaniza). Those are the only ones I've tried from their menu, but it has been consistently good for the handful of times I've gone. You can tell when you bite into the torta that they have quality ingredients. It's really soft to bite into. I also especially like the added kick of pickled jalapenos in the torta de tinga.

Came here yesterday, Sunday afternoon with friends. No indoor seating, one table outside with 2 chairs. On a quiet street, very close to Seward Park which is perfect on a nice sunny day. Got the salsa verde with chicken and rajas con queso tamales. Definitely liked the salsa verde one better. Rajas con queso is roasted tomato and onion with cheese. Tamales are on the smaller side but can't complain, $3 each. Iced coffee was good only $2, and plus it wasn't overloaded with ice like a lot of places do. Service is quick and professional.

Went to this little, unassuming spot with a friend to grab a bite to eat for breakfast on a Sunday morning. After looking at the menu we decided to try 3 different tamales and a breakfast sandwich each. Everything was very good and was quite a steal. The place is a bit small, but since we were the only patrons there around 9am, we were able to grab a great table. Definitely a cute, low key spot for a bite in the neighborhood.

Really wanted to try their tamale after seeing a clip of the owner describing the strenuous production process and his passion/reason for starting the business -- his grandmother and her recipes. We got there end of day so only got to get the chicken tamales. The mole and salsa Verde were both great. Tamales had a wonderful texture, not salty, and tasted like having homemade food. Looking forward to coming back to try the vegetarian options.

NOTE: These don't have the normal lard and chicken stock, so the first two are VEGAN :) and the third one with cheese is vegetarian.

Tamales are one of those foods that I have cravings for at least once a month. This is my go-to spot below 14th street. My favorites are the jalepeño-spicy Rajas con Queso and the Chipotle chicken. I also always get the Agua de Jamaica (Iced sweetened Hibiscus tea). Tip: Go in person for the best prices; the wait for tamales is usually short. From the NYTimes: "Mr. Lopez's tamales are beautifully fluffy, clingy and crumbly at once, a texture that calls to mind the airiest of poundcakes. Lard is whipped in, along with chicken stock, bringing voluptuousness to every bite."

The bistro itself is very nicely lit. I almost felt like I was in a movie. I had the Turkish eggs and a side of Bourbon glazed bacon. The chili-drizzled poached eggs sat on a bed of yogurt nestled against triangles of thin flatbread. Very hearty and filling for someone who was on their feet all day. The bacon was such a treat. I was afraid they would be soggy from the glaze or a little too sweet but it was the absolute perfect balance of both. My friend tried out the chicken and waffles and I was almost jealous that I hadn't ordered that. After being given a piece to try, I can confidently say that the Belgian waffle had the nicest crispy exterior and a beautifully fluffy inside. The chicken was such a wonderful savory pairing to the not too sweet waffle. The iced coffee was a nice side pairing. The pumpkin spice flavor was the perfect amount of sweet without being overpowering. I will be returning soon!

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.

The meal started with coleslaw and both a half sour and full sour pickle--such a classic deli touch, and a great way to kick things off.
