So I've been a patron for a little over 21 years. Just had a massive overhaul and maintenance on a bike I've butchered for the last 6 years. I took it in and was told the queue for repairs was about 6 business days out. I asked for a quote, they said it would be abound $300. I've priced the parts myself and knew it was fair. They called me on business day 6 when they found the front derailleur should be replaced too and asked what kind of brake pads I wanted: the average, or throw in another $10 per wheel for a superior product. I appreciated this call a lot. Another 20-30 minutes later, got a call the bike was ready: same day they said they should be able to get to it. Paid around $310. Pretty dang accurate with their quote, the time to final product, and doing exactly what they said they'd do--AND offered improvements if I wanted them! But that's not the main reason they are awesome on this particular day. Within the first 15 miles of riding on a completely new drivetrain (which was like christmas at age 5 all over again [good experience for me]), I notice the rear wheel is dented. I come back in and ask if they can hook me up with a new rear wheel. Now I'm talking to a different tech/repair dude. He sees I was just in and had a bunch of work done and feels bad that this JUST happened after getting my bike back. I realize at this point too..."oh duh, they didn't replace the rear wheel" this was the same crap old wheel on which they DID repair a broken spoke and clean it up. I thought it was knew! 'Fool me once'...whatever. Anyway, I get a good deal on the wheel, and he's going to try and get it done the same day (not making me have to jump back in the week-long queue). Get a call within hours saying they got it on, and he's not going to charge for the labor since I just spent $310 on drivetrain parts and services! I only had to pay for the part. Deal! This is why I keep coming back. Not sure what happened on the days that other reviewers had bad experiences. In the past week, I've talked to or been helped with by 7 different people (2 of which just asked if I needed help as soon as I entered the door). Their location can make it hard for parking, but "Fairhaven" IS in the title of the store, so... If you look for heaven on earth, you'll always be disappointed. This shop has been great to me since day 1. If it's servicing an old roady or buying a new setup they've been friendly, helpful and fair. When my wife bought shoes there they were able to dig out some cleats that a previous customer left and gave them to us. I drop my bike off for love before every race and never had an issue. I can't say that about any other shop in town. Just did the STP with a friend who took his bike to Kulshan and 80 miles in a wheel pops, his spokes were overtorqued. They also didn't do any of the adjustments they'd discussed when he dropped the it off. During the Chuckanut classic I had to pull in to Kulshan because my front tire wore paper thin, went through 2 tubes. I lost 45 minutes sitting at Kulshan while they put on a new tube an tire, only after they upsold the tire because I'm "a heavy guy". I won't go anywhere but Fairhaven now. read more

I've been buying bikes and getting bike services in Bellingham since the 1980's and Fairhaven Bicycles is the best bike shop I've ever had dealings with. I think that with the new owners it's just as good, if not better than it was before. They are always helpful and their service is excellent. My wife and I have recently gotten e-bikes there and they really know how to work with this relatively new technology. I will always take my bikes to them whenever I need anything that is bicycling related because they have "gone the extra mile" every time I've been there. Look no further, this is the bike shop for you. I did a lot of research before I bought my bike and these guys were extremely helpful. I could have saved money by buying from a discount web site, but I chose to buy from this local bike shop because of the high quality of customer service, quality bicycles, and great gear. They custom fit my bike and helped me with additional components and gear as I became a better road biker. Best of all, they give their customers a dividend check at the end of each year - which means more bike gear! Excellent staff! read more

I recently had my bike frame warrantied and I went to Fairhaven Bike since they are the local Specialized dealer. There was a lot of back and forth on the frame replacement itself not to mention the parts needed for the new frame. Fairhaven bike stuck with me through the whole process. They were flexible and considerate when issues would arise with part compatibility, delayed delivery, etc. I now have my bike back and it is all ready to ride! My wife and I have been shopping at Fairhaven Bicycle for 19 years and have been very happy with both the service and selection. The prices are not low but they are no different than any other full service bike shop. Fairhaven sells Specialized bikes, which I think are great bikes (we own five). There has been some turnover in the staff during the past couple of years but the new employees are professional and knowledgeable.
