Planning a memorial/ funeral is never an easy task. When mg father passed my brother and I met with Sarah to get everything arranged and she was wonderful. She was easy to talk to, had a great personality, and was made the whole process less stressful. She assisted in getting us a deacon for the memorial. She took care of everything and explained everything so well. Day of the visitation Keith and Kaylee helped us and were so attentive. The following day was the memorial followed by the interment. At the memorial we had 3 people helping us, and forgive me, but I couldn't remember the two ladies names, but Josh was fantastic! From the start of pre-planning our mom's Celebration of Life to when they were cleaning up after the reception...They were amazingly incredible!! Excellent communication, going over every detail in depth, quick responses to emails, and very supportive. Ashley was wonderful, but really everyone there was great!! I've had so many guests that attended say how friendly and attentive the staff was, from answering their questions to clearing away empty plates off the tables. The chapel is nicely decorated, not overly done. Their reception area is lovely and surprisingly large. Fairhaven treated us like members of the family on one of the most difficult days of our lives. We didn't plan for this, but when we found ourselves in need of end of life services, we connected with Fairhaven in Mission Viejo (Dignity Memorial). Sure, it's a business, and they have business objectives, but part of that business is managing grieving people. Michael and his team there did a great job, and we were very pleased with how they managed the family through this event. The only downer is trying to navigate the price list... it's a maze of confusion, and it's the same everywhere. But once you sit down with Michael and narrow down what you want (i.e. burial vs. cremation), he will spell out the costs & options. And no upsell pressure... just supporting what you need. Death is a bummer... and Fairhaven helped ease the burden. But we are not without hope, as our dad had a personal relationship with Jesus. read more

When my father, Jeffrey Grisham, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, our family was in complete shock, but the team at Fairhaven supported us throughout the turbulent subsequent weeks. She truly went above and beyond anything we could have asked for. During introductions, visitations, and meetings, Patty was always there to greet us, walk with us, and host us. She provided much-needed comfort in these small, but frequent moments. For Jeffrey's Celebration of Life, Hailey, Chris, Josh, and Greta did an astonishing job preparing for the service. On the day of, I showed up early to test out technical aspects and I observed their preparations. I can confidently say that they have the best "we can/will make it happen" attitude. Furthermore, Hailey, Chris, and Josh did a superb job ensuring the event went smoothly. I was also the primary family contact during the event and I worked closely with them. I'm amazed by their flexibility, adaptability, and accommodations. Today we attended the committal service at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego for our loved one. We entrusted the care of my father, a WWII veteran, to Fairhaven and highly recommend to anyone either pre-planning or in search of a funeral home. Leslie assisted us with bringing him into their care from hospice, the cremation, choosing the appropriate urn, and paperwork, as well as arranging for full military honors, the flag, etc. It was a beautiful ceremony and we thank Leslie, Michael and Sharon for their gentle and loving care. read more

My Mother passed away recently and we decided to have her services at Fairhaven. Staff were very nice and helpful with the arrangements. The day before the ceremony there was a bit of misunderstanding about the time allowed for us to setup and the gentleman speaking to me was a bit harsh, but apologized when he found out he was wrong. The day of ceremony is when the unraveling began. A little over an hour before we were to start, I was made aware that the AV equipment was not working properly. Instead of using their projector and the very nice and big screen, we got a monitor. Sound system down, two portable speakers were used. Microphone did not work, and we were given a backup microphone that went in and out. All this right before the ceremony. I understand "things" can happen, but I never received an apology. I even went there the day after to pickup an item, and no apologies came my way. I was promised a live cast of the event which I passed along to out of state relatives and friends...With all that was happening, I forgot all about it, but again, nothing was mentioned to me about it - no reminders. After the arrival of many guests, I realized memory book we had paid for was not out there...Staff member argued that it wasn't part of our agreement, and finally upon my insistence, one was brought out. The ceremony ended up being fine, but I'm very disappointed about the mishaps, and most importantly, the lack of any apology. read more

My grandmother passed away during the pandemic and there were many complications with how we were going to go about her funeral. This place is absolutely wonderful they really make you feel valued , and heard. they really just take the stress and burden of planning and saying goodbye to your loved one much easier. Leslie and the Fairhaven team truly had our whole family feeling like we were part of their family. Half my family do not completely understand English, but the love and care Leslie provide definitely translated. My grandma passed away during COVID (she had covid and recovered, but passed away from Acute MI). We were not able to have the service indoors or at our church, but Fairhaven has has a lovely area outdoors with a gazebo. We were limited to 40 people, but we felt safe and were able to include everything we had hoped for. Everyone felt that it was a celebration of life and kept saying how lovely the service was. Fairhaven is very upfront about costs and truthfully turned out to be less than what we expected. We were able to keep within budget and have everything we had hoped for.. We appreciate and the care they provide. Leslie especially went above and beyond our expectation. We can't thank her enough.. Going through the loss of a loved one sucks, but Leslie at Fairhaven makes the process so much easier. Finally, Fairhaven is all inclusive. They have cremation services, a chapel-like room for funeral services (with a piano and podium), viewings, and burial sites depending on your needs.
