New favorite lunch spot! Thank the Ashland gods we needed this place. I had the simple falafel pita and everything was divine. Very fresh, tastes homemade and full of flavor. Ordered from here a while back when they first opened. I may try them again now that they have been open a while. Prices are somewhat higher than I expected. However prices are similar to other restaurants in the area. The pita and hummus dish was amazing. Some of the flavors in the falafel are different than other Mediterranean places but again this is most likely chef style or different authentic regions of Mediterranean foods. read more

Everything is so yummy here! Sometimes they have this really spicy sauce that isn't on the menu which they haven't had as often lately because an ingredient in it is hard to get but ask for it. I think they have the best fries in Ashland cause they are shaped like scoops and you can get this great feta dip for scooping. Of course the falafel is great and you can order it as a salad or in a pita. read more

Got a bowl. it was ok. Didnt' taste any turmeric or ginger in rice at all. Lentils also flavorless. Got 3 sides of salads. the beet may have gone back. they were sour. not sure if they're supposed to be so? Nice to have a variety of sides. But wish there was some seasonings in the food. read more

The pita was freshly baked and the falafel was delicious, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Everything is made in house.

This was the best mistake we ever made in Ashland. We were headed to another restaurant on scanty advice and wound up at Falafel Republic . Small storefront restaurant in a shopping center , really ? Let me tell you it was a very pleasant surprise ! Fresh food, great service, pricing and timing and that kind of special conviviality created by genuine and perceptive staff. The homemade pita is fantastic! Very fresh tasting flavors. The falafel wasn't dry (my pet peeve) and had great flavor. Only complaint is maybe too much sauce (calorie-wise) but I would definitely come back and recommend this place! read more

Great concept for Ashland. One problem I have in the 3times I've been in. The open kitchen! If you have an open kitchen it should be pretty clean, really clean. This place is not. It makes me a little concerned as to how long things are sitting in those steam pans. There's stuff all over the counters and floor. This is such an easy fix, I hope the owners read this and make the appropriate changes. I'll come in again after a bit to see if they have listened. I know the owners are very successful restaurateurs, which is why I was a little surprised to see the condition of the kitchen read more

I love falafels. So it is with much regret that I write this review. This was the worst falafel I've ever eaten, mainly because the pita bread they use is horrible. If the company that bakes Wonder Bread made Pita bread, that's what this stuff tastes like. Bummer. read more

Both my husband and I got salads with shawarma. I got the vinaigrette and he got the creamy dressing but we couldn't really tell the difference, because of all the other stuff piled on top. The salads were delicious, the shawarma was moist with little crispy bits, the veggies fresh. All in all, we were very happy. read more

Just ate here and its really good if you love authentic food. The falafel is best I've had in the valley. It's not dry and over fried like most falafel places can be. Good sauces and love their lentil quinoa. The eggplant is freshly grilled and good portion too. Best of all, they make their own pita's in the oven right behind the counter. Pretty cool I'd say. Just tried this place for the first time and loved it. I had the straight up traditional falafel and thought the pita bread was among the best I've ever had. The spices are perfect, the staff was friendly, and I think this place will become a word of mouth hit very soon. read more

This is a pretty cool little spot that does a good job with the simple Mediterranean menu. They've done a great job with the branding.

Falafel Republic might be the best value meal in Ashland. It's simple, with few choices, low labor costs design your own like Chilpotle. They bake their own pita bread, a great start. The ingredients are fresh and with full flavor i.e. not corporate mined. It's the only place I have a Coke since they have Mexican Coca-Cola with real not fake sugar. Their sides are creative and delicious, my favorite the beets. read more

Delicious!!! I got their falafel in a pita with every thing on it, spicy and it was amazing. I got this order to go and they gave me my pita in a very portable container. I went to Israel this summer and had some pretty spectacular falafels there, and this falafel was right up. The falafel balls are crispy and moist at the same time. I was impressed with the presentation of the bowl I tried, but overall the food was severely lacking in flavor. Admittedly I was spoiled living somewhere with excellent authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. It seemed like the herbs and other ingredients that lend the dishes flavor and are on their ingredient lists were flat out missing- red onion, lemon, mint, parsley, ginger etc. Extremely bland, maybe this is why they can get away with charging a couple dollars for a thing of za'atar to sprinkle on top!! I asked for harissa as no hot sauce was available (boo!) and what I seemed to get was hummus with a light touch of harissa, not hot at all. The cucumber salad seemed old. The harissa cauliflower was decent as was the pita and fresh falafel. Honestly... safeway offers more flavorful and fresh salads . Everything is quite overpriced, most sauces cost extra. I have frequented this restaurant 5 or 6 times. The food is fresh, but the service is mediocre. I have always had to stay on top of the person making my pita or they start to put the wrong items in. I sent my husband last time and he didn't watch closely. He came home with two pitas filled with an ingredient he had asked not to be added, as result I couldn't eat mine. Also the boxes weren't marked. I am a vegetarian and my husband ordered the shwarma for himself so we had to cut open a pita to find out whose was whose. read more
