No way to explain why this was our first visit but it won't be our last. George was awesome from the time we walked in. The ambiance is so pretty and was a quiet slow dinner that we enjoyed. All of the food was delicious and tasted fresh. Finally an Italian restaurant serving Fra Diavolo and I don't need to ask for red pepper. It was actually spicy but in the best way, flavor max! My Teen enjoyed gnocchi and I also had a spinach salad with a housemade dressing that didn't get a pic. Dessert and coffee topped the meal off perfectly. Now I'm still on the hunt for a match to Venieros butter cookie with a chocolate drop but this restaurant will ease my homesick feeling for NY Italian food for a while. Thanks George! Wow! What a date night in Jacksonville. This was our first time to Primi Piatti. George made this night exceptional. He treated us like family from the moment we walked in and gave us attention like we have never recieved in a restaurant in Jacksonville before. Wow, what an experience. George the owner was amazing ! So friendly and funny ! Nikki our server was great and really knew the menu as well ! The bread was great and fresh. We had calamari for an appetizer which was amazing perfectly breaded, and the dipping sauce was so delicious. We had lasagna, pasta puttanesca, and veal parmesan! It was all warm and delish ! We went here for a mother-daughter dinner. From the time we walked in the door, the owner was incredibly attentive to us and the other patrons. He shared wine from his personal stash, brought us an extra dinner salad when we planned to simply share one, brought us a multitude of free samples of items we didn't order, conversed with us throughout the evening, and put his personal stamp on every detail of our time there. I don't believe I've ever had such exemplary service before! He took our regular dinner out and turned it into a full experience. Oh, and the food was AMAZING!!!! She forgot both our salad and our wine and never asked us if we wanted dessert. From outside it's not a very noticeable restaurant, however when you come inside it gives you this old traditional Italian vibe. The service was great, very friendly and patient going over the menu and the specials. We opted for the mussels which were really good and if you ask for some more bread you can dip it in the remaining sauce and it's delicious. My wife and I went to this nice, quaint restaurant after visiting someone in the nearby hospital. I'm Italian by heritage so I have pretty high standards with Italian food. Primi Piatti did not disappoint. I ordered chicken Marsala and my wife ordered pasta puttanesca. Two classic Italian dishes. Something happened between the server and the chef because I wound up with chicken parm. My wife's order was correct. I was hungry and did not want to wait so I ate the chicken parm, it was moist and tender and close to perfection. My wife felt the puttanesca was too salty but she is very sensitive to salt admittedly it was her problem and not the dish. No worries, we took it to go and my 16 son loved it. Despite the minor mixup we enjoyed our lunch here. The service was great. The location was warm and comfortable. We would definitely try them again if we are in the neighborhood. Solid 4. read more

I went for a bday dinner and was impressed with how cute and well decorated the place was. I do judge Italian restaurants (how others may say) a little more harshly considering I lived in Naples Italy for 3 years. I do take in consideration that different regions of Italy have there own different styles of cooking. With all that said I was disappointed with the taste of my main dish and how the server did not understand what I was ordering, even though it was straight from the menu. The server provided us with the specials of the night and also recommended the carbonara (as she stated she eats it once a week). The bread brought to the table looked like bread picked up from Publix. Sliced thinly and then in half. The oil dip for the bread was olive oil, a splash of balsamic, and I couldn't find any herb seasonings. I ordered the pasta e fagioli (which was also part of the specials), calamari, and carbonara. The server looked confused as she had no idea what I just said. I understand I can properly pronounce the Italian names of these dishes and I also understand she's not Italian but I do except if you work at an Italian restaurant for you to recognize the correct pronunciation of the dish and not look at me some sort of way. I ended up having to point out the items on the menu for her to understand (as one of those she eats on a weekly basis). I also had to translate pasta e fagioli in English and remind her she announced it as a special. Once the pasta e fagioli came it had a very good taste. The calamari are obviously warehouse calamari as they were all uniformly covered in batter. The taste was pretty good. Honestly I had better and had worse. One of my pet peeves is when calamari is served without the tentacles as that's my favorite part as it's crunchier. The carbonara is over priced and a complete disappointment. First I never had fettuccine in my carbonara it has always been spaghetti. I can over look the pasta choice. Second I have never had a carbonara that looks like it has alfredo sauce. There was no traces of guanciale or prosciutto. Third there was no seasoning of the dish and I hate to use table salt on my food but I used table salt to give the carbonara a little flavor. Fourth the amount of pasta (mind you pasta is very cheap) served is too expensive ($23) considering there was no soup or salad included. With that said I most likely will not return. read more

Honestly do not get the salads at all. My husband ordered the spinach salad and it really was laughable. it looked as though they took half a handful of spinach, a pinch of onion and a pinch of sliced almonds then drenched tfo it. He had to send it back. I ordered the caprese and it was just okay... nothing special but not bad. and by the way those took like 25 minutes to come out then we waited another 25 for my chicken parmigiana and his veal rosamarino. I will say my chicken parmigiana was edible, and I think he felt the same way. my parmigiana was soggy and unevenly heated, which makes me suspect it was nuked in a microwave, but is concerning for the amount of time that took. My husband's veal plate, you can look at the picture and it speaks for itself. We just ate it because we were so hungry. Overall, it just wasn't restaurant quality, and for an $80+ meal for two after tip this was absolutely a one and never again situation for us. read more

Love this small intimate restaurant. Service never misses, attentive but never feel rushed, great recommendations, and always very pleasant. As you're enjoying the wine and homemade bread with oil/herbs the smell of fresh garlic being sauté tickles your nose. The mussel with wine sauce appetizer is great and also adds another dip for your bread. You can choose any pasta or meat dish and it will be fantastic. A non discript door just off the main road in the Park&King district. Frankly, I might have just walked by without a second glance. But, we didn't. We opened the door and to our surprise, a nice Italian restaurant. We were greeted by George with a smile and menu. He slipped us in, though many tables were full. I got the house salad, carbonara, tiramisu, and a decaf coffee at the end. It seems they have a great wine selection (I don't drink, though), so definitely check that out! We had an amazing time at this establishment. We came early to catch a show after dinner, and were served by Nikki. We were greeted by a clean and beautifully classic environment. We ordered the calamari to start, and in combination with the fresh warm herbed bread it was promise of a great night. My partner ordered the lobster ravioli and I ordered the veal parmigiana. It was amazing, large portions and extremely well cooked. We caved and got limoncello cake and a cannoli for dessert, paired with cappuccinos.
