He said they didn't have the ingredients, even though they had another coffee-based cocktail on the menu. It would have been nice if he had suggested a creative alternative using the cold brew or whatever they had available. Not a big deal, just a missed opportunity. They don't appear to serve food themselves, but there was a food truck parked outside when we visited, which was a nice bonus. Overall, we had a great experience. Great breakfasts each day with recipes from the owner prepared by the local management team. From our perspective however a disappointment was they are apparently quite popular for wedding receptions that are smallish but otherwise fill the common area room. The disappointment was regular guests couldn't enjoy the real wood fireplace and many treats in the common room during the afternoon. And in the evening the staff went home and the fireplace was no longer lit. There were receptions Friday and Saturday. When you reserve you may want to check on the wedding situation if that is important to you.

While it's only a short drive from the restaurants and shops in downtown Estes, you might as well be a million miles away. The road dead ends at this secluded place, and it's dark and quiet at night. The common area has snacks and an espresso machine, which we really appreciated, having arrived late afternoon, and not being inclined to leave for dinner. The whole place is decorated in a decidedly dated style. I know, I know, they're going for Victorian charm, and they've somewhat achieved that; lace tablecloths in the breakfast room, heavy furniture and lots of needlework pillows. Our room had a color scheme that spoke more to the late 1990s than the late 1890s. If you hate that, stay away, especially if you're looking for a place to stage a wedding. Otherwise, a nice place to spend some time away from it all.

I realized the moment that the vittles were graced into my presence, the heat lamp was the mule of this establishment. My chicken was drier than Marth Stewart's hoochie coo at a Snoop Dog concert. Whatever juice that was inside of Cluck Norris had long ago dissipated. This thing tasted like a used leather chastity belt on the floor of Brittney Spear's tour bus. The meat held on to the bone just like my coke bottle glasses held on to my virginity back in high school. Hopefully, thinking to myself, the pulled pork won't let me down. WRONG! The consistency was two thirds buffalo ass and one third desperation. I was so disappointed I could have cried but I had no tears. The bite of chicken I had earlier depleted two thirds of my body's moisture. I didn't know at that moment that I would not urinate again until three days later. On to the burnt ends! Hunger pains quickly growing in my abdomen, I sling shotted one of the tiny squares into my food hole. I believe the chef's inspiration for this was best value bbq sauce and a square of rubik's cube. I started clutching my throat and gesturing for the heimlich until I realized that I wasn't choking. I left there hungry and mad that I had just dropped a benji on this abomination of street light smoked cuisine. If you are ever in Estes Park and you would like to treat yourself to some used leather chastity belt, this is your place.

During the…read moreCOVID pandemic, we visited often while I was working remotely because they had implemented appropriate measures early on. Today (June 2024), that's obviously is not an issue, but it meant a lot that they would work so hard to stay open during such a challenging time for community recreation centers. I have only spent time at the leisure pool, so I can't speak directly to the rest of the facilities. The leisure pool is excellent. Both the water and the pool deck are warm, which is a great feature for young ones. The family locker rooms are clean and there are 3 private shower rooms for young children. The leisure pool has a small slide for children under 4, water cannons, waterfall buckets, a lazy river, a water slide, and a hot tub. We have been able to visit both as guests of a local resident and as non-residents. Obviously the non-resident day pass is more expensive, but I would say it's reasonable, especially for a place where kids can easily spend 2-4 hours and get a nice warm shower.

The staff here are amazing and went to every effort to make our weekend run perfectly. They worked with us closely for the entire year before the big day and were there helping us until we said our last goodbyes. The event center is beautiful. We had 75 guests and and a live band and there was still lots of space for everyone. I spent a lot of time looking at venues and this was by far the best place I came across, especially for the cost. Location is perfect for visitors, it is close to town and RMNP, and the views are pretty spectacular. I would highly recommend the 800 Moraine Event Center to anyone looking for a great place to have a wedding.
