Unfortunately, it was found that the best course of action for my vehicle, should I choose to proceed with repairs, would be to install a new engine, which would have cost far more than the car was worth.  Apex was incredibly patient with me while I made the difficult decision on how to best proceed for my situation.  Although I did opt to scrap the car and purchase a new one, Apex allowed me to keep the car in their lot until the buyer I found for it could pick it up, and even helped me get change for the transaction.  Additionally, they only charged me for a simple 30-minute diagnostic, when they could have charged more. Hopefully, my family won't need car repairs again anytime soon, but if we do, I will be sure to contact Apex.

This shop has a new customer for life with me. I implore everyone to take all of their car needs to this guy before he becomes too well known! His garage seems like an unoccupied barn and I dropped my car off early in the morning before he opened so I was low key nervous I even had the right place. Plus I had him work on my mercedes which made me nervous cuz most of our local mechanics wouldn't even touch it cuz it's too "complex." I was being quoted $200 for an oil change and that's if the mechanic was even willing to do it in the first place. I am not the biggest car expert but it's wild that so many of the big brand shops in this country won't even consider doing anything to a car that isn't a Ford or Chevy. But this guy got mine tuned up, filled my tires, topped off my coolant all for $73! Plus he had it done lickity split. Well done and I can't say enough what a relief it is to have met him. This guy deserves to have the biggest auto business in the county but I'm selfishly hoping he stays as small as he is now because he simply can't be beat and I want to keep him as my only mechanic.

Which I was super suspicious of (just kidding). So, back story. My wife was driving on 465 when she all the sudden heard a loud POP and the car started pulling heavily to the right. She was reasons shocked. So I googled auto repair near me because I definitely wasn't going back to the place in Indy I'd been before... reference my horrible review of Caliber Collision, and I found this guy. He's three minutes away from where I live and works out of a barn in his back yard so I was like, "whatever... if he does bad work I'll just Yelp him to death" and took my car to get it checked out. I was immediately impressed that the barn in in fact a legit mechanic workshop with hydraulic lifts and everything else you expect from a mechanic. So I was already impressed when he opened the door. Then he puts it through his 99 million point inspection and was like, "idk dude... I don't see anything wrong" to which I responded, "just replace the shocks anyway so my wife feels safe in the car". He already discussed pricing with me so I was good with that but then he comes out and says, "cool I'll have it ready for you tomorrow night". I was expecting like a week or something but he said less than 24 hour turn around. I was very impressed with that. Anyway to conclude this, I've gotten my car back and he did great work on it. Drives better than it did before. I am definitely going to be referring people I know to him in short order.

A week ago, I brought my car in during the recent heat wave to have the A/C compressor clutch…read morereplaced. My A/C was still blowing cold--the clutch was just squealing, and I couldn't stand the noise anymore. I supplied the replacement part myself, and after giving them my vehicle's year, make, model, and engine information, I was quoted $520 for the installation and refrigerant recharge. I agreed to the price and dropped the car off. The next day, they called and said there would be an additional charge because they "weren't aware" of the type of refrigerant my car uses. This was frustrating because they had all of my vehicle information before I even brought it in. Suddenly, the new price was $750. I told them I needed some time to think about it and would call them back. About 5-10 minutes later, they called again and said the compressor clutch bolt was seized and that I would need an entirely new compressor. My options were either to replace the compressor or have them reinstall my old one. No pricing was discussed during this call, so I told them to just put my original compressor back on. A few hours later, I called to see if my car was ready, and they acted like it had been sitting there waiting for me. Then they told me the bill was $390. They eventually agreed to $300 cash, but here's the problem: my A/C worked when I brought the car in, and now it doesn't work at all because they evacuated the refrigerant and never recharged it. I understand to an extent paying for labor. But charging me $300 after leaving my car in worse condition than when I dropped it off is unacceptable. Their labor rate is $130 per hour, and the timeline of the phone calls doesn't seem to support three hours of labor. A little understanding, detailed communication, & customer service would have gone a long way. Instead, they earned $300, a one-star review, and lost a repeat customer.

I took a 1/2 day off of work thinking that would help but it didn't, they still couldn't get me in and I was leaving on vacation that night. I looked up other tire stores on Yelp, found Stewart Tire & Auto Service Centers and called to see if they could get me in. They said that they could so I brought it in and then walked over to ChickFilA to wait. In a short time they let me know that I had two screws in the tire that I thought had only one and another in my other back tire and they had it fixed and ready to roll! Not only that, the price was very, very reasonable! If they will treat you like that on the small things, I will definitely give them a shot at the bigger things!
