Not that bad of eatery for a average size town. This place will make you feel like home. My first time there and you could tell many of the people were regulars. It appears to be family run. Not sure what their speciality is but what we had was good. I forgot to take pictures. The prices are slightly more than normal but I think you will be satisfied if you give them a try . I had been here before and remembered it being fine. Nothing special, but good food. Tried the beef stroganoff this time that was a daily special. Started with a very good salad. Fresh and good variety of veggies. The stroganoff was a very large portion but it was made with hamburger! Not a fan, but the taste was ok. Wanted a dessert to go so I got the Chocolate torte cake. Horrible! I think it had been cut and left unwrapped in the cooler for a week or so! Dry and tasteless. The sprinkles on the edge were freezer burnt and the frosting was crunchy. So disappointed! Second visit...I could see our food sitting in the window for a good 15 minutes. Waitress was off talking with a friend and forgot our salads. She finally went to get our food and realized she had forgotten them. Put the food back in the window, brought our salads and then told us it was taking so long because their chips are made fresh. I pointed out that I could see our order for 20 mins now and she all of a sudden was so surprised it was ready! At this point, I no longer even wanted our food. We had a family day at the park followed by lunch here. The place was comfortable and very clean. The owner was present and apart of it all. I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. I thought this place was exceptional. I got the Mac and cheese with jalapeños and I added pork. It came with a salad and 2 jalapeño poppers. We love the Family Tree Cafe. It's a family friendly atmosphere where you can also have a beer or a drink if you want to. It is always very clean! The staff is very friendly and the owners always come over to the table to check on how our meal is. The food gets better each time we go. They are adding new things all the time using top quality ingredients. They have created a "local" small community feeling inside. Much of the food is homemade! The homemade Baklava is awesome as well as the homemade cookies. Their breakfast portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. Thursday nights you can get 1/2 off their 1/2 pound burgers and $1 off drafts. I would definitely recommend the Family Tree Cafe in downtown Dewitt. We need to support our local family owned businesses. They support our community and provide jobs to local residents. read more

We are "regulars" at Family Tree Café. We tried our first meal (breakfast) with them when they first opened. It has become our favorite restaurant in the community. The atmosphere is warm - family oriented. We've always had exceptional service. Waitresses are friendly / fast service. I've always been impressed that the owners make their rounds to meet the patrons, check on their food and share in conversation. One of the things that makes this place so special! I've tried several breakfast entree's....my favorite is the FTC Classic Breakfast. I've enjoyed all others, but keep going back to the Classic. I've "sampled" several lunch and dinner entree's that I have ordered more than once. The hamburger is HUGE. You won't be disappointed....it is high quality. I've tried to walk away without eating all of it, haven't succeeded yet! (I love the way they serve it....knife sticking through the center!) I've enjoyed the House Made Spinach Pie, Spinach Salad, Greek Salad, Chicken Parmesan and Patty Melt. All yummy! Dessert? Well, you can't beat the House Made BAKLAVA! Oh my goodness! read more

We went late Saturday morning for breakfast. We were seated quickly and our waitress quickly greeted us. The menu has a wide variety and the portions were large. Excellent food, excellent service! Owner personally greeted every table. Burger was HUGE and SOOOOO good! Pasta done perfectly al dente. Tried them for breakfast, too. Fresh coffee, not sludge like other places, with generous refills. Eggs were cooked perfectly to order and the breakfast wrap (burrito) was amazing. Staff super friendly and hard working, with no mistakes and great timing when addressing the table. Enjoyed conversations with the owner. Would give 5* but the lunch/dinner menu is quite overpriced for the type of cuisine/restaurant. Then again, I am still willing to pay more for great food, great service, and friendly atmosphere than to pay less at the other local establishments. But great experience overall! read more

The mac and cheese balls are soooo good and I actually never cared for mac and cheese balls until I had the ones from this place..Now I crave them. Unlike other reviews, I thought the customer service was decent enough and prices were fair..And I love that there is now such a nice place in Dewitt to just grab brunch with a really good Bloody Mary or mimosa. The Family Tree Cafe has it all from the wait staff, management and the chefs our family was pleased they are all dedicated to making this a good enjoyable experience. Every morsel was delicious: when it's good we eat off each others plates, to taste test, and we were really sharing here. We had Mother's day brunch and 2 had lamb dinners very tasty, the honey braised carrots, tender rice, 2 had breakfast with thick bacon, belgian waffles with peaches/ sauce, the greek salads with feta cheese and greek olives the dressing wow!, the greek spinach pie yum and (grandmas) key lime pie very tasty. On top of that a clean updated restaurant just the right atmosphere to make everyone feel comfortable. My wife and daughter both got flowers they had white table cloths and pink cloth napkins for the occasion really nice presentation. The place was busy and they didn't miss a beat. Our server was spot on. It doesn't get better a real class act for anyone anytime. I tend to enjoy the "one of a kind restaurants" these guys really beat any of the chain restaurants or any other like it. I can't believe you're right here in DeWitt, MI.
