Dessert First: We opted to take the bread pudding to go because we were so full from our meal. It was packed nicely to go, big slice of bread, sauce in a to go cup and an individual cup of vanilla ice cream. Just heated it up in the oven at home. The praline sauce makes that dessert. I could have eaten just the sauce! And the rest: Love that they have a birthday coupon (you can sign up online for it), which makes the price better. It's not outrageously priced, but a little more expensive, so love that they have coupons. Love me a deal! The hubs is pretty particular and found their ribs to be nice and tender. Even though I normally go for a veggie option, I enjoy some bbq every now and then! I got the 2 meat platter with pork and brisket. Both were tasty and tender. The pork was a smidge cold, but nothing to complain about (I imagine trying to keep every cut of meat the same temp is tricky) Both come on top of a slice of thick toast and with 2 sides. I chose fries and broccoli (had to try to be a little healthy) and the hubs got mashed potatoes and beans. The sides were a bit smaller than another local joint we go to, but everything was tasty. There are a bunch of different bbq sauce options at the table, we loved the Texas pit the best, but it was fun to sample them all. They have paper towels and wet wipes readily accessible at the table. Looks like they also have some specials for the kiddos--we saw our neighboring table kids wearing paper pig hats. Based on a previous experience where they offered a veterans day meal that was great I took a big chance and ordered a Thanksgiving meal. The turkey was outstanding. It's as good as it gets for what it is. I discovered today that they will substitute the meats and the sides on their feast for two. We substituted rib tips for the chicken and collard greens for the coleslaw. Always love their ribs, pulled pork and rib tips. Today was the first time we've tried their collards. So, I get the email about the All You Can Eat Rib tips for 9.99 on Thursday. Decided to meet some friends there and was quite happy and satisfied with the value of that deal. We never made it to the All You Can Eat Part... the initial order was so plentiful that none us could finish one. The service was a little slow sitting in the bar. I think server was just doing too much as both bartender and server. We did have a larger party of 7 people who arrived in waves. He was attentive to refilling drinks once he got on a roll with us. The leftovers made for a great lunch the next day and prompted so much interest in my office a group of 12 of us met there the very next Thursday night to do it all over again. This time we sat in the dining room. It's a little loud in there but still overall nice. We had a great server who took care of us all promptly. I have enjoyed Famous Dave's for years. Today for Father's Day I chose this place for lunch. Mac and cheese was great, so were the beans and slaw. The meat was disappointing. The sliced brisket had air bubbles in the meat which is evidence of eat glue. Some restaurants take various pieces of meat, some of low quality, brush meat glue on them and vacuum seal the repurposed meat. A chemical reaction takes place bonding the pieces together into one piece. The meat glue is made out of coagulants from animal blood. This process is not known to be harmful, but is deceiving. When I'm paying $18 a lb. plus tax for smoked brisket, I'd like it to be from a quality piece of meat, not repurposed meat. read more

I called ahead for my order of two "center cut" slabs I requested a "show" ( I'm from Kansas City and most BBQ places will allow you to inspect your order)and the cashier, Tyana, gave wonderful customer service. Tyana dawned sanitary gloves, and gladly"showed" me my order. Have ordered the all American feast on more than one occasion. This time they just simply missed. Per their website the feast comes with the assorted meats and corn on the cob and cornbread muffins. I am not a complainer. Usually I give more than one chance and I am not super picky, but I have to say the food I picked up last night was awful. We got the Tips & Que feast and the everything was dry as a bone. The pulled chicken was only saved by heating it up with a TON of bbq sauce and even then, it was like an afterthought. My husband and I visited this past weekend on 10/20/19 at apx. 1:10-1:15 PM and stayed apx 90 minutes for our dinner, drinks, and watching some football. When we arrived we were promptly greeted by Lena (hostess) and even though we told her, we would eat at the bar, she was professional and followed us with menu's and told us about the bartender (Katie) and her famous cocktails. What a great first impression. Service was fantastic and she was somewhat busy for a lazy afternoon. Our food was amazing with us getting the rib and meat plate. For the ribs we had St. Louis style (bought for $2 each extra) and then baby backs and brisket with mac and cheese and wilbur beans as our sides. OMG everything and I mean everything was wonderful. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars to this visit is that the brisket was fatty and I had asked for "lean brisket" but the flavor was spot on. I would come back with no hesitation. We have eaten at Famous Dave's around the country (Fort Collins, here, CA and TX) and this location was the best to date for food and service. We went here last night for my sister's birthday. We had a party 6 adults 2 children and 1 baby. They took our reservation and had a table ready when we got there. The staff was friendly and helpful. We all ordered drinks from the bar, the sangria was great as was the huricane. Those that got beers enjoyed them as well. The children size drinks are perfect for a 5 and 7 year old. One got a Pepsi and the other chocolate milk. The baby was given a sling for his carseat and the kids booster seats. Our party got the ribs, the burnt end sandwiches, a hamburger and a two for two. Everyone loved their meal, all the meat was well seasoned and the BBQ sauces we awesome. I personally loved the Rich and Sassy BBQ sauce, my sister loves the Georgian Mustard, and my step dad loved the Devil's spit. He loved it so much he bought a bottle to take home! Just wanna say i visit daves 4-6 times a year. Usually on motorcycle trips. Today i wasnt riding but needed some delicious daves in my life. Same awesome bartender who doesnt ever recognize me and why should he....our relationship is about the food which he always sells exceptionally. Today i was dissappointed in the food quality. Three of my meats were overcooked (last nights left overs and burnt links) Wilburs still kicked my butt and the service exceeded expectations. Been having great bbq at FD's for years but my recent visit will likely be my last. They have whittled their menu down so far that several of our favorites are now gone. Portions seem smaller; they've eliminated baked potatoes and their corn on the cob is much smaller. My wife has to eat gluten free for medical reasons and could always get a salad and loaded baked potato but had to suffer through some small side salad for her entire meal. The server didn't have much of a clue about whether any menu items were gluten free and didn't bother to ask management about it..,never came back to refill our ice tea. The Who experience was sad. We drove 20 miles to have dinner there with family and won't do that again. So sad...I'm sure they will blame it on Covid. Now our search for good bbq starts over. read more

I dislike posting negative reviews but.....The food & staff were amazing (as always) but it seemed strange that there was a person (not staff) wandering from table to table trying to sell popcorn for a charity. Is this endorsed by the management and if so why not set up a stand in the lobby? The charity might be reputable but I have never been approached at a restaurant while eating and this seemed out of place. Most restaurants do not allow soliciting in their facility or even on the property. I don't appreciate solicitors at home and certainly don't while dining out. read more

Famous Dave's is officially my new favorite BBQ joint in Denver. My fiancée had Famous Dave's at a catering event and fell in love, so we HAD to try the restaurant. We called ahead of coming because we knew we wanted to try the veggie burger that she had at the catering event but couldn't find it on their online menu. The manager answered and informed us that it was a catering item only but when she explained that she had fallen in love with it and wanted me to try it, he said to come on it and he would make an exception for us! Now that's some good customer service. We were greeted my friendly staff and the server got drinks to us nice and fast! We ordered the starter platter (subbing the ribs for extra catfish because we don't eat red meat), the veggie burger, fries, corn on the cob, crispy fried onions, Mac and cheese, and baked beans. The catfish was AMAZING! The platter came with 4 sauces that were all delicious and unique. The veggie burger was very delicious and had a great savory flavor. The Mac and cheese was VERY spicy because it had jalapeños in it, so this might not be a great choice for everyone. But if you love spice, you will love it! We ended up having to send the baked beans back because they had pork mixed in, but based on how great everything else was - I'm sure they would have been good too. I ordered the standard cheeseburger at a medium, and it was served well-done with gristle on the exterior and without garnish (the menu clearly states that all burgers are garnished with lettuce and tomato). I did like the potato wedges on the side very much, though. Tried the Devil's Spit barbecue sauce, and while it had the spice (equivalent to eating some jalapeños, I'd say), it was very sweet for a barbecue sauce. Our waitress (can't remember her name, but she was young, doe-eyed, and brunette) was cold and shot me the stink-eye multiple times for no reason. There was an elderly couple sitting behind us, and I noticed how irritated they were with their server who talked at an insultingly loud and slow pace as if they were idiots. I overheard some of their conversation and they too were dissatisfied with whatever they'd ordered. Overall, I didn't get good vibes from the staff, and the food was just subpar. I could get that exact burger at any dive bar for a couple bucks less. read more

We normally love Famous Dave's but today's experience turned us away for awhile. The "15 minute" pick-up order was actually almost an hour and when my husband finally did get our order his was missing an entire meat selection. After such a long wait it was expected that the food would be fresh and hot, which it wasn't. Nothing tasted fresh, even the corn muffins. All of the meats were dry and luke-warm (catfish, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken strips). Everything tasted as though it had been sitting for awhile (and this was at 1pm). There was no hostess at the hostess stand for quite some time, she was out busing tables instead. After being seated it took over 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. The manager came around finally to offer drinks. Another 15 minutes went by without any wait staff coming to the table. Finally gave up and left. No excuse as the dining room was less than half full. I understand the whole COVID19 thing and that we're now living in a different world, but this place needs to have at least some respect for people's time. We were down here for an Easter egg hunt at a nearby liquor store (Cornerstar) but we were also starving and with little to nothing open on Easter, we popped in here. The decor is pretty hokey and the staff is almost in your face with their cheesy-ness. I get it is part of the whole gimmick but one thing happened that I may never let go is...when we asked how the hostess was doing she said...."slabtastic". SLABTASTIC?!?!?! With a cheerful straight face. Why?! Why!!!! Ahem, moving on. The food was pretty good. I'm off grains so when I said I didn't want the cornbread and corn on the cob that comes with a meal the server offered that I could get an extra side (steamed broccoli & collard greens) instead for no charge so that was cool. I had really high hopes for this place as many people talk this place up like it's the best thing since sliced bread. I can't say it was a bad experience, but it certainly wasn't the mind blowing bbq experience I've been hearing about. The food was good for all at my table (8 people in my party) and the portions were generous but it was pretty average. Not bad and not exceptional bbq. I wouldn't refuse to eat here if in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to get here either. The bottom line is, this is a solid bbq place to get good food if you are in the area. We took our two boys to Famous Dave's after hearing so many good things about the BBQ. We ordered the platter that is like $50-60 and is served on a tin trash can lid. Needless to say it feeds a family of four and everyone gets a chance to try all the different meats. So not bad for 60 bucks. We returned to Famous Dave's for happy hour after we were told they had a killer happy hour. We were presently surprised. Beers were reasonably priced and food was exceptionally cheap. My husband and I ate BBQ tips, fries, fried pickles (I didn't care for them but to each his own) and a few cold ones for under 15 bucks! I do not care too much for their BBQ sauce. I think that it taste like a Kansas City/Texas type of flavor. I prefer more southern smoked flavors but it is still pretty tasty. If you want to give Famous Dave's go during happy hour. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it- the service, the food and the atmosphere. The draft beer selection is pretty slim and living in craft beer mecca of Colorado, I expected a lot more. Service was a bit on the slow side, especially for 5pm on a Saturday. It took them 10+ minutes just to get a table put together for 7 of us. And then our waitress, while good, was obviously spread thin and didn't stop by to check on us very often. We started with the onion strings and they were limp and greasy- ick! I had a two meat platter with 2 sides and cornbread muffin; the chopped pork was ok and the sausage was decent. Good variety of sauces and good presentation with the chips to sample them. The best thing anyone ordered was the burnt tips- those were delicious! hubby had those with ribs, and the ribs were pretty good as well. I had collard greens and mashed potatoes as sides. The huge pieces of blubbery bacon in the collard greens was a big turn off to what could have been a good side. The mashed potatoes were very good, and I did enjoy them. The atmosphere of this place is a bit chaotic with all the crap on the walls and cavernous feeling spaces. Staff is pretty young and I watched as a waiter tried to bully the young hostesses about who was serving/seating in what areas- unprofessional. I really like Famous Dave's. It's a chain, so you don't get that "authentic" vibe, but the food isn't half bad and their happy hour specials are a real great deal. Decor: like TGI Fridays. There's all sorts of crap on the walls. From snow shoes, to random signs, to pictures of people you don't know and that likely have no connection to this restaurant or even the chain. Whatevs. The seating is comfortable (they even have booths), and they can accommodate large groups. The food: really good if you like barbecue. They have ribs, pulled pork. chicken, you get the idea. The side dishes are also really good, I like the mac and cheese, personally. For those of you on a lighter diet, they do have a light menu.
