My family loves going here. Bust out the garbage can and grab some napkins. We normally fight over who gets the cornbread. I'm all about the brisket and somehow we all agree on the distribution of the rack of ribs. I'm not sure if they do anything special with the iced tea but their Arnie Palmers are very good. BBQ paradise! Good portion sizes, delicious smokey flavor. We ordered ribs, chopped pork, brisket, chicken, and catfish. Everything was delicious. The cornbread muffins are also sweet and savory, served warm. I love Famous Daves and this location does not disappoint. Came in for lunch arrived at 12:15 pm and received a table right away. I ordered the Feast for One. It is a lot of food (5 stars for the quantity of food). The beans were rich in flavor with bacon and a smokey taste. I really liked those (5 stars). Coleslaw is fantastic (5 stars). The pulled pork was tender and juicy (5 stars) and had the exact amount of BBQ sauce on it. The ribs were very dry and I was not a fan (3 stars). The Maple Grove store used to be a 5 star joint. Things have changed that have impacted the menu negatively. Fries instead of mojos, smaller corn bread, smaller portions in the family feasts and most of all the famous bread pudding. Sad!!! read more

We went to Famous Dave's for dinner. It was a Sunday night. There were three in our party. First of all The hostess was unfriendly and didn't even look at us. The waitress was ok. I ordered the beef Brisket Sandwich. I wanted fries for my side but they were out of fries so I ordered the mashed potatoes. One of the others I was with ordered the Turkey Sandwich that comes with gravy on top And the mashed potatoes side. The third person in our party ordered the 1/2 baby ribs. The place was not busy and we waited 40 mnts. for our food. My sandwich was good but the potatoes were ice cold. The turkey sandwich had no gravy and his potatoes were cold as well. The third persons meal was fine. We asked the waitress about the gravy, and told her about the potatoes. she left and was gone a long time. When she finally came back she said "I guess we are out of gravy". She did bring back some warm potatoes. I don't understand how in that 40 minute wait nobody noticed they were out of gravy. I'm also wondering how they could deliver the dry sandwich to the customer without it, like he wasn't going to notice that a major part of the meal was missing. When we were done a manager came over asking how everything was. We told her and she just kind of did a half apology and wondered off. The waitress came back with the bill witno mention of the problem or an apology. $12.00 was taken off of the price. We had no idea they were going to do that. It's fine, but it really wasn't about the money. It was more about the service and attitudes of the employees. It was obvious nobody really cared about the customers they serve. They all gave us the "Whatever" attitude. At least someone could have pretended to care about what they do. Our experience was Blah. And I really wanted some fries. We came in for the $3 burgers on Monday and the staff had brought our burgers out with missing toppings and went out of their way to correct the mistake. We stopped in this location on Saturday to grab a quick bite while running some errands. It was a bit busy, so we sat at the bar to eat. We both ordered chicken sandwiches. When mine came out, it was quite large, so I cut it in half. When I got to the second half, which was the larger, thicker side, I noticed it looked a bit pink. I cut further into the meat, to reveal it was completely RAW in the middle! Needless to say, I wasn't big on the idea of eating raw chicken, no matter how hungry I was. I flagged down the bartender and told him that the chicken was raw. He said they'd get me a new one ASAP. I wasn't mad, or even irritated, I just wanted a fully cooked piece of chicken. I waited and waited....and waited. Still no new chicken. My husband was completely done eating....still no chicken. For whatever reason, I still wasn't the least bit mad. The bartender was very apologetic, and said he was going to comp my meal. That was nice, but I wasn't really upset, but I wasn't going to turn down free food! I finally got my meal...a FULL new meal, at which time the manager came out and sincerely apologized and said our whole meal was comped! I couldn't believe it! I guess it pays to NOT complain and get all upset. This kind of customer service is really hard to come by these days. You barely get an apology when a place messes up your food, but to have them completely comp the whole meal, even when they fixed the mistake? Unheard of! Worst customer service ever!!!! Placed on line order at 4:44. Order was to be ready at 5:05. Was there at 5 pm. Gave our name and was told order was not ready. We watched at least 5 people come in after us and place a to go order while we are still waiting for our food. We watch as several of these people get their food and leave. Finally at 5:35 we ask is our food ready? She says "what's your name again?" We told her and she looks for it. But it has been sitting at another counter the entire time. Call the manager to complain after we leave and he asks "well what do you want me to do about it?! I Will never ever go back and will tell everyone I know not to go there. read more

I like the food here. But I mostly want to comment on the floor in this particular location. It's COATED with grease. It's slippery to the point that if you shift your weight even a little bit your chair is moving. Overall leaves a bad impression of this place and is probably dangerous. read more

This is my second review of this Famous Daves. We used to go here ALL the time and tonight was my absolute last! The last time we went was two years ago and when we saw waitresses changing out trash cans and cleaning and then NEVER washing their hands before handling our plates and side items we said ENOUGH and GROSS! I went back tonight and ordered TO GO. It's been a while and I figured things had changed from my last report to this management team two years ago. I ordered my food and then sat back on the bench and watched the SAME careless sanitation issues as before. I watched over a dozen cross contamination and sanitation issues in less than 20 minutes while waiting for my food. I saw each waitress/server cleaning off tables, cleaning off trash...cleaning either items off the floor or cleaning off counters with their little rags..and then immediately going to handle the to go boxes. Some might say so what? they are handling the box not touching the food. Well... let's take this a step further. EACH server that was cleaning who DID NOT wash their hands was touching NEW food plates...silverware...napkins...and two of them were inserting the foil sheets into the To GO boxes as well... all with dirty hands. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I decided half way through them making my food up that I was going to talk to the manager. After my food came up to the counter I asked for a manager. I spoke with Kevin H. I told him ALL that I saw in 15 minutes and he said it was "not right and uncalled for". I asked him then if he would request his money back had he seen this same thing and he said yes definitely. I then asked if he would please refund my money...and keep the food as I did not want it. He politely did so. I just don't understand why people CLEANING are able to touching anything that has to do with food? They might not be touching the actual FOOD but they are handling the plates, silverware...the foil inserts in the boxes...EVERYTHING. So everything you eat there well you may as well have licked the floor and all the dirty tables too. I did contact corporate on this. I said I do not want ANY coupons or gift cards. Ordered the game day platter Thursday eve and it was supposed to come with wings,rib tips, chicken tenders, cheese curds, corn bread, celery and carrots, jalapeño red onions, pickles with bleu cheese, jalapeño sweet and sour, bbq, and ranch. The wings were pretty good but the platter was completely missing the celery and carrots, the ranch, and the jalapeño sweet and sour, it came with 3 chicken tenders that had to have been the skimpiest tenders I have ever seen. The rib tips where super over cooked and just rough and hard. I was kind of expecting juicy and tender rib tips from a bbq place and okay chicken wings but the tips where just the opposite and the wings were good. And if I'm spending the money for the platter you'd think they'd make sure everything that's supposed to come with it does... unimpressed. The one in uptown looks fun but since I was in Maple grove and was super hungry one day- I needed something that i knew would be filling so andrew and i decided on Famous Daves and boy was it filling! Andrew and I ordered the feast for two- I think they should rename it to feast for four cause there was way too much food for the two of us.. I tried the ribs, brisket, chicken, cornbread, corn, mash potatoes, fries, and by the end of the night I had to unbutton my jeans. The ribs were good but I wasn't feeling the brisket- it was bland to me but good thing there was a variety of sauces to choose from to add taste. the corn bread was delish! I ate both of it and didn't share any with Andrew... that's how much i liked it. the waiter was from CA too so he hooked us up with free desert but i had no more room and it looked soooo good. I can't really describe the taste when i dug into the melting ice cream brownie.. I was barely able to inhale... we ended up taking a boat load of food home- i ate the left overs the next day too... and because of the guilt, I spent 2 hours at the gym trying to burn the calories off. read more

Every time I come to Minnesota I come to Maple grove and stay at the Hampton Inn. Well it happens to be right down the street from, you guessed it, Famous Daves. I have to stop in at least once every time I'm in town. This place has good BBQ, you can get just about any type you want. I like the Chicken the best, but they do a good job with the ribs, sausage, and the chopped pork also. The brisket seemed a little dry, but has good flavour. They have a good selection of sauces on the table, from Hot to just sweet. There is a full bar and they do a great happy hour from 3-6 week days. They also do a Sunday brunch, but I haven't checked it out. read more

Tried Dave's for the first time tonight. Was not sure what to expect but turned out very good. Was with a group so we got the All-American BBQ Feast. Comes with ribs, chicken, brisket, corn, fries, slaw, beans and cornbread. A huge variety of food for a decent price. The brisket was not as good as I hoped for but the rest was very good. The ribs were quite flavorful and worth the try. Our waitress was also amazing. She had drinks to us as we were finishing them without us having to ask, was on top of things. She was also very understanding and was able to split our feast 4 ways. I would definitely go to Famous Dave's again. read more

I've been to famous Dave's many times through out my life. I've been to this location a couple times, but tonight was probably the best experience ever. "Famous tony" was our waiter, and that's what made the difference. My wife and I decided to venture out with our 4 kids, not forgetting to bring their tablets to keep them occupied, but they weren't touched once because Tony was so great at keeping them entertained and busy with little tricks and jokes. Too bad we didn't get a chance to eat there last night though! 20 minutes call ahead turned out to be just as 'reminder' that we were coming, so...20 more minutes MAX, I'm quoting the Hostess. I work at a restaurant too and understand when it's busy, things won't turn out as planned. More than half an hour goes by, "5 more minutes." 10-15 minutes pass...What a waste of time! When I used to host, at least an apology was given for a long wait & that's exactly the one thing that should had been given but wasn't! Was at this location for lunch and will not be returning. While the service was good, that should be expected at a big chain joint. I got the lunch special of ribs and pulled pork with a side of slaw. The food was weak and overpriced. Considering the prices the portions were very small. They only gave me 2 ribs, which were dried out and tough. The small scoop of pork was also dry. All the food was passable , but not at all up to what should be coming out of a kitchen that has some fairly serious competition chops. read more

My family and I went on a Wednesday night at 6pm. When we arrived it was not overly crowded. Most of us ordered ribs. The food was delicious, however, it took 50 minutes for our dinner to arrive. As I looked around I could see the other tables that were starting I fill also we're waiting. So although it tasted very good, I will rethink going back there for a while. My dad and I went here for Valentine's Day. I think the food is a little pricey for what you get, but I always find myself coming back. Just picked up order placed at 11am for a 415 pick up - at 5pm. This is AFTER a 4:10pm call to the restaurant verifying that our order would be ready close to the online request of 415 and after the counter person said "looks like it's being boxed up now" when I arrived at 4:20pm. At least I was not alone. There were others that had made the same mistake of trusting this place and experiencing the same wait times. While the food smells great, the taste will be tainted by this lousy experience in service and takeout. Too many other take out and deliver options in the Maple Grove area to be this bad! read more

There was a time when Famous Dave's was a reasonable choice for BBQ in Mn. Sadly, I think that time has passed, at least with this location. My last meal was of brisket fat and corn that had been sitting in a pot of water for hours. When I attempted to speak to management about my concerns, I was made to feel like I was the problem. The GM wasn't there. I'm not sure who I spoke to. "We serve a fattier cut of meat" was the explanation I was offered. I'm an occasional customer. Food was always OK - 3 to 4 stars. However, today was different. I ordered the 4 St Louis style ribs & broccoli. They want $15 for four ribs - that's $3.75 a rib - for that price - I want perfection. The ribs were sorta tough - not falling off the bone. But the worst part is that they tasted like liquid smoke - horrible - artificial tasting. I asked for some butter for the broccoli. Took 10 minutes to get the butter, by this time the broccoli is cold. The butter is hard as a rock. What does a customer do with rock hard butter? With an ice tea, the bill was $19 dollars! We wanted to celebrate dads birthday here. Call in early to say that we were coming just in case, they said sure and to call 20 mins before appearing too, so we did. It was going to be a long night with lots of drinks and food. Everyone was excited. There was a total of nine that joined together. We walked in told them our numbers, they told us theirs, 20 mins in one sentence, 20-30 mins in the next. Our call 20 mins ago must've been lost or must've been taken by someone else, it didn't mater to us we were happy, we were nice. Time passed. Asked them why and was quoted 5 more mins. 5 more mins passed. More time passed, an hour in, we all still sat on the bench provided, including happy birthday dad, not so happy anymore. Can't say if there were others hiding in their cars in a secret line we did not know of, but more and more people sure walked pass us and into seats. How does the house seat nine when it fills every four that leave with four more every time? Maybe it was that secrete line we did not know of but we sure wouldn't mind being seated before those who came after us. Our youngest member, at the curious age of one and a half, wondering why he's still hungry, not fed and bored, left for some fresh air, that was 10 mins ago. At the one hour mark, he set the standard, once he starts wailing, hungry or not, time to embark. Do not taunt us 10 mins later with a table ready text, once you've notice we left. Tell us the truth, we gave you the benefit and waited your quote and gave you your call. Took the money, the tips, and the group elsewhere. Still had the fun and the laughter. Just not here. Awesome BBQ! I haven't tried one thing here that I don't love, but I tend to go back to my FAV - Georgia Pulled Pork sandwich. Love the slaw, beans, absolutely everything! Even their pickles rock! LOVE all the sauces from Rich and Sassy to Devil's Spit. My husband also goes for Rib Tips. When the kids are with us, we enjoy the All-American Feast. Love FD so much, I had them cater my son's high school graduation party. Excellent food, excellent service. When I moved from Naperville, IL where we have not only a Famous Dave's but an annual Rib Fest (where rib guys come from all over the US and the world to compete--even Famous Dave competes here) to MN, I worried that we wouldn't have a Famous Dave's then I remembered, duh, Famous Dave's started in MN!
