We came to the Famous Dave's in Maple Grove for dinner on a Saturday night and we had a party of three. We were told 45 minutes for the wait. As we sat to wait, I witnessed the two hosts giving varied times depending on the color of the person that came in. People of color were given longer wait times for the same size parties of white people. I saw a white couple come in 25 minutes after we arrived and were seated well before us and when I ask the host why, she claimed they had a reservation, but I clearly heard them say that they didn't have a reservation. This restaurant is very unorganized and this is my second negative experience with them around race, and it will be my last time ever coming to this site. Well, where to start... When we got there it wasn't busy and had lots of open tables in the middle, but they sit us way over on the side behind a wall.... I'm sure it has something to do with available servers but behind a wall? So weird. Our table was dirty and sticky. We were given a children's menu for our kid but didn't give crayons. When we asked, they said they were out of crayons. Huh? Um ok. Water tasted dirty. Bathroom and toilet were dirty. The stall door broken and hard to get out. Saving grace? The food. Just okay. I used to love Famous Dave's, but had never been to this location. The food we got was edible, however I sadly think fast food would've been more enjoyable. The bathroom here is absolutely disgusting! I would recommend holding it and going to any nearby gas station instead! $100 later for a family of 4 we walked out feeling kind of robbed. Been to many famous Dave's and there all about the same so not much to say except our waitress was cool. The two stars are for the Burnt ends that we couldn't eat cause so much fat it was just gross. These actions were blatant that my daughter, her 2 daughters, my bestie, and myself received at this Maple Grove Famous Dave location. It was ridiculous!!! We were seated at a table. I literally had to get up to go ask who our waitstaff person was after sitting there for over 15 minutes. My daughter, my bestie, and I wanted to order a beverage as well. Another young lady heard me inquiring as to why no one had to take beverage order nor our food order. She immediately apologies for us having to wait so long. She comes right over and take our beverage order. She pointed to one of the bartenders and said he is our food and beverage waitstaff person. I was like wow. He was totally aware that were sitting there, waiting and not once had he acknowledged us nor asked what we wanted for food & beverages. That dude was standing at the table having a full fledge conversation with the people at the table in front of ours. Mind you they had their food and their drinks. A couple minutes goes by then she brings my granddaughters their sweet tea and lemonade. An entire family walked in. The other waitstaff person was on them like a shadow. Those people got their drink order within 2 minutes and their food order within in 5 minutes from being seated. Guess what their race were? I ended up asking for a manager. She came over and immediately ask was our waitstaff the guy. I said yes! She said that she will come over to take our order and would comp our beverages and give us a second beverage. I'm to exhausted and upset to keep typing the rest as it got worst. I will contact the female manager tomorrow as she had gone home before we got done. I will be contacting the general manager as well. We were SO disrespected & discriminated against! Friend, oh it gets worse. So, after asking for our tab to leave from the very boy who was blatantly not wanting to wait on us in the 1st place he makes us wait another 15-20 minutes. I goes up to see the female manager and she is mysteriously gone. The other manager guy was there and so I asked him if he could bring us the tabs as we had been sitting there being ignored again. The manager says he will come out to get our tab. The boy decides to go in the kitchen, get food for other people, talk to the table in front of us again. He nor the manager attempted to come out to bring us our tabs. So, I goes to the front register where one of the female waitstaff was to ask if we could pay up front. She tells me "No I'm sorry we don't take payments up front. You'll have to pay at the table you were sitting at. At the point I became upset. I knew she was lying. If people came in to get food and didn't want to sit in the restaurant, they would be paying upfront. So, this other female came and said she would come get our tabs for us. We were like wait as we needed to let her know that the manager was comping our everyone's beverages (x2). She gonna say okay! So, she comes back to the table with just 2 receipts, 1) for my daughter's tab and a second for my friend's tab. How about a couple hours later my daughter gets a notification that that girl charged her for the full amount and didn't discount any beverages! I feel that in itself is criminal as she was told that was being comped, acknowledged it, fraudulently came back with 2 receipts, & then waits til we are gone and runs that beverage ticket! read more

We usually treat friends and end up getting the All American which is served on an upturned garbage can lid. There's no need to order anything else. You get corn on the cob, ribs, brisket, chicken, corn bread muffins, steak fries, beans, Cole slaw. Can't understand why only 4 star rating. This Famous Dave's sets the standard. It's a chain but it delivers on quality. Famous Dave's does BBQ right! It does maintain that corporate food chain feel (a minus) but what it lacks in grit it more than makes up for in quality, flavor, and price. I LOVE the sauces and the meats are fantastic - putting to work any backwoods hideaway. Service was plastic but the place is clean and the rough sawn oak interior and bluesy rock n roll make for a great dining experience. The brisket and ribs were unremarkable, good not great. Had to ask for butter for the corn and corn muffins. When the waitress brought one ramikin and was asked if we could get a second she replied "most people share one". She did bring a second one. Went to Famous Davie's for a meal for two take out on late afternoon Friday, 3-31-23 as I had done on several previous times when the takeout was adequate. Got home $50 later (slight price increase) and discovered the packaging looked totally different from pervious occasions. Turns out it included two large totally cold mac and cheese containers (not ordered), a few cold fries insufficient for two, and ribs that the three other family members refused to eat because they felt the food tasted/smelled funny. I ate the chicken breast which was ok and then everything else went in the garbage. I would have gone back to ask for money back but it was literally hailing small hail, and I would have to have gone through a busy Highway 55 intersection twice to do so, so I decided to bag it and just write this instead. I suspect we were served a noon door dash or other order that was abandoned. I ordered in person at the counter and waited while it was to be prepared (10 minutes), so everything should have been piping hot and fresh. At any rate, that's it for this cowboy. I eat at FD a couple times a mouth. Today's visit was the first time to order a burger. It was very good. I had the Jacked and Stacked medium well. It was a perfectly cooked burger patty with Texas brisket mixed in and topped with a huge load of fried onion stings. The bun was soft and grilled. The location has since closed down but whenever I have the opportunity, I will always make time or find a reason to go to one. Even if I've just gotten done with a meal and I see one down the road I find it hard to not go in. Famous Dave's is a chain. You can't deny that. But as far as BBQ Chains go, Famous Dave's has it going on! Sure, independent places are typically the best when you're looking for the best in BBQ. But, when you're looking for one in an area where they typically won't have one offs, Famous Dave's is the place to be. I always get the ribs. Usually the baby back ribs. For the sides, I'm a big fan of their coleslaw. Somewhat sweet and very creamy. Their cornbread muffins are also excellent. The downside to the corn bread muffins is that they're usually not warm. I prefer them a little warm. The beans are good also. The beauty of Famous Dave's is this: whether you are in South Dakota, Michigan, Kentucky or any other state, when you walk into a Famous Dave's you know what you're getting into. Would I go back? I was so sad when the Famous Dave's in Saint Cloud closed down. My travelling companion and I wanted to try the Famous Dave's in Maple Grove. It did not disappoint. The food was as amazing as I remembered! My companion had beef brisket and I had pork tips. I was disappointed that they no longer served the grilled pineapple, but it was no matter; the food was amazing anyway. I ended up having enough for leftovers to bring with me during our travels! Since this restaurant is close to Saint Cloud, I intend to bring other people here with me in the future! I will absolutely be back! read more

I'm usually not a big fan of chains, but I can make an exception for Famous Daves. This location has been consistent - you know you can always get a good meal here - the prices are pretty fair, and the portion sizes are good. Somewhat slow service during rush times, but we have yet to have a bad customer service experience. I always like their sweet cornbread muffins, drunken apples (finally back by popular demand!!), and potato salad. The cedar plank salmon is my favorite for when I want something on the lighter side, but when I want quintessential Famous Daves, I go for the ribs or the roasted chicken. Hard to go wrong with that. You can also get family-style platters (presentation on a trash can lid is fun) where you get to pick multiple meats and sides - ideal if you're like me and hate decision-making. Recently found out about a deal they're doing on Sundays: chicken dinners for $10. You can bet I'm taking them up on that sometime soon. read more

Here for Fathers day lunch. All the side dishes are great, but the baby back ribs again are not edible. They come out slathered in sauce but I couldn't even cut them with a butter knife. They were extremely tough and I ended up only eating 1/4 of my half rack. I was with my family so I didn't want to make a scene and the remains ended up hidden under napkins anyways. Worst experience I've ever had at any famous Dave's. I can get past the 40 minute wait, when we were told 20. But the fact that it took atleast 15 minutes to get my beer, and my son in law didn't get his soda for almost 20 minutes is ridiculous, told us they had to change to C02 for soda, ok, and also told they had to change out keg for beer, eventually I got a bottle of beer. Food was cold when it came out, and very small portions. Brisket was ok at best, catfish was cold, and dry, daughters catfish was cold in the middle and wet, don't think it was cooked through. The waiter we had was running crazy, not blaming him, seemed like they were understafffed, he tried to save the evening by bringing out extra muffins. Nice gesture, but too late. Very disappointed with the customer service at this location. I was traveling on a very long trip and stopped in to use the restroom and order food, and I was informed by the front desk staff that restrooms were not available to me due to the governors orders for COVID. This is inaccurate, however, as the governor's orders don't state anything about restroom use at to-go locations. And all of the other restaurants I stopped at along my trip had no problem letting me use the restroom. My guess is the company didn't want to deal with having to sanitize restrooms for their guests. To top it off, my soda was flat and warm, and my meal didn't come with utensils or napkins. How do they expect their guests to clean up after eating ribs?? Oh,. HELL to the YES! I am a HUGE BBQ fan...I think it's in my veins. If it's not, I'd like to get an IV drip of Famous Dave's sauces. I'll switch out the type depending on the day, but it will usually be Devil's Spit. I may even try to run the remoulade sauce though, but I think it will get clogged up. They are incredibly flavorful and compliment their smoke perfectly. The ribs are never a let down. The pulled pork is heavenly. The brisket can be a little dry sometimes, but it's still awesomely flavorful and I can just douse it with one of the delicious sauces. The Devil's Spit burger is one of only a couple burgers I'll order in a restaurant (ANY restaurant). Another thing I'd never order in a restaurant - chicken strips. However, the spice that they toss their strips in makes them undeniably awesome and they stand out from any other place. Dave's has an amazingly unique sweet and sour sauce that compliment the strips like nobody's business. I'll go ahead and eat those while the IV is running. The Cajun Chicken sandwich is so amazing that I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Let me put it this way...if you've never worked at a restaurant, you should know that employees will get tired of that restaurant's food fast. I worked at (a different) Dave's for nearly a year and looked forward to eating there during EVERY shift and I still crave it to this day. Extension of the Cajun Chicken note...it was by far the employee favorite at my location (Fargo). The blues music is a great addition to the restaurants! And it plays at all of them. I've never been into a Dave's and had bad service. The service at this particular location, however, has always been fantastic and consistently so! Allow me to preface this by saying i love famous daves.. All famous daves. I am so, so impressed with all the changes in recent months. Generally i call ahead and get my order to-go. The staff at this location is super friendly, infectious actually. I found myself smiling and laughing along with the hostess as i watched her greet families walking in. I appreciate that with to-go orders they show the food as they give it to you so you aren't wondering and praying that you have the correct food the whole way home. Got my order which she read back to me, paid and left. Got back to my hotel to discover there were 2 items missing that I paid for. Called the restaurant and was directed to the manager. Explained the situation, and he gave me options of refunding the missing items to my credit card, is some other stuff he mumbled about. Chose the refund of the missing items. On a trip back from Albertville I stopped at Famous Dave's with Dustin G. It was questionable choice after forgoing a reservation at Lurcat in Loring Park however we were hungry from power shopping at the outlets. First off the service was spetacular. The hostess greated us with a smile and our server with even more. We split the St. Louis Rib-N-Meat BBQ Combo with the Country-Roasted Chicken and mac and cheese and mashed potatoes for sides. I'll say no one does BBQ like Famous Dave's. It was the perfect meal for a Sunday evening. However the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes could have been bigger and warmer. Overall great experience. The decor was entertaining, a lot more organized and less dusty looking than an Apple Bee's or TGIF. read more
