First time walking into famous Dave's. From the outside it's incredibly deceptive. It looks as if it's been abandoned however, when you get inside, you smell deliciousness we did not like the coleslaw of everything. The ribs were delicious. The chicken wings were also good not fried as hard as we would've liked them, but they were tasty. The cornbread is delicious. You will get it with your meal thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed the catfish fingers and it comes in a meal as well so delicious. The service was quite good. The manager on duty (from Woodbridge) was just fantastic!! Upgraded this review to a four because we did go back the next day for lunch and we had another terrific experience and good customer service. This time the restaurant was a little bit more occupied and I want to encourage everyone to go support famous days. this is the last remaining location. And most importantly, they provide some good food.. I had the catfish tenders with the rib tips and the Caesar salad equally delicious really good.

Jalapeño sausage with Mac and cheese and cornbread

On our way to Raleigh we decided to try this place. Typical bbq set up inside and I decided on a one meat plate and one side which was jalapeño sausage with Mac and cheese and cornbread. The sausage was quite spiced and the mace and cheese was creamy and a bit spicy as well. The cornbread was sweet which I like

Located is perfectly tucked in the high way. Loved that we stopped an hour before closed and were able to be seated quickly. Service was prompt, food was plenty and left overs were even better the next day. Corn bread and banana pudding a must. My daughter loved the decor and asked if we're having a picnic at a barn. I would love to come back and have a ho-down or just good old karaoke it felt that inviting!

I use to love famous daves!! I went recently went with family and while it was good it def was not the same and im not sure why. The brisket was just ok and the catfish was good. I didnt like the Mac and cheese and my husband wasnt crazy about the burned tips. My son loves his ribs. The banana pudding was rich and portion was huge!! The service was good, we had a sweet waitress who was very helpful. The restaurant looks the same, definitely give a southern bbq vibe. Spacious restaurant with to sides.

    Pick 3 Combo

Ordered the 3 meat combo for delivery on Uber eats. This was my first time having Famous Dave's and it was delicious! Very well seasoned. Uber eats was also having a 40% promotion which made the cost of the meal so affordable! I would order 2 platters if you're looking to share with someone else.

Brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, sweet corn and red mashed potatoes.

Everything on my plate was great. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender, the sausage had a little kick but not too spicy. The corn and mashed was great as well. I can't wait to try everything on the menu. My food was ready right on time. I came back because I love it so much the other day. The guy behind the counter let me know that there is a spicy bbq sauce that is not on the menu. For those that love heat, ask for the wilburs revenge sauce.

Texas Beef Brisket Sandwich, Corn Bread Muffins, garlic red skin mashed potatoes

Food was surprisingly decent for a chain restaurant. The full rack of baby back ribs ($30) was tender, meaty, and a generous portion. They came off the bone clean and were not very fatty. The fries were crinkle cut potato wedges. Healthier and good, but not my style. The corn muffin was very good. The Texas brisket sandwich ($15 normally) was ok but tasted a little fake and low quality. The garlic red-skinned mashed potatoes were just ok. Beer was reasonably priced ($4.50 Bud Light and $6.25 Dos Equis). Service was incredibly kind and accommodating. They sang my dad a birthday song and gave us a vanilla ice cream sundae on the house. While the food is good, not great, the service is really impressive.

    Feast For 2
    Kristen A.

Great spot if you're craving meat. The Feast for 2 is a perfect choice because it comes with 3 meat options and 2 sides, and the catfish is underrated! The brisket and pork on the bread are also pretty good.

I love famous Dave's. Meat is usually great. Sides are on point. I rarely have issues. Once in a blue moon they miss an item but it's not on every occasion. Today though, my sides came in the smallest containers . This is a first. Not going to stop me from coming back but I hope it's just a one time thing.

The employees were friendly and even offered us samples. We ordered the brisket, pulled pork, and ribs with a side of collard greens. It comes with pickles and your choice of two sauces. I don't remember the names of the sauces, but the regular one tasted like watery ketchup, the spicy one was watery ketchup with some pepper and wasn't very spicy. There was a mayo-based sauce that my partner said was good, but only good if you like mayo. The brisket had a very smoky flavor and the outside was peppery and kinda good, but the meat was incredibly dry. I ate it, but it didn't digest well for me. It was all smoke and cardboard, unfortunately. The pulled pork and the ribs were actually good, but we've had better elsewhere. Same feelings about the collard greens. The free pickles were bread and butter style, no variety or choice in that matter.

The fries also came out hot, crispy, and crunchy, along with being perfectly salted for my tastes. Simply a 10/10 experience, making me eager for the next time I can get back here. From a location perspective, this is outside of downtown Westfield, so parking is no issue. That said, there isn't a ton of indoor seating, with only 2-3 four seat tables and another 2-3 two seaters. So when you're going, get there early, or pick a warm day where you can eat outside (where there are a few more tables near the street).

An excellent way to ring in my Womb Exit Anniversary. My top-tier chum who literally went to the…read moreschool of hospitality brought me here last Sunday for a birthday dinner. I picked it knowing the solid rep of Jessica's Cafe in Plainfield, so I can't say I was stunned to find out this was awesome - but given the expectations coming in, this probably even slightly exceeded them. Pretty cool. This was literally my first time in Fanwood, unless you count taking the Raritan Valley Line through here to Hunterdon County back in the day (I don't think it counts). The weather was a little iffy throughout the day, which I'm assuming played a factor in the town feeling a little desolate when we showed up. It reminds me a lot of the Newport neighborhood in JC - super, super gentrified. Maybe it's just the section where Jessica's is though, right across the street from the train station. We parked over there, not entirely sure if that was naughty or not, but given our outdoor seating, we easily could have peeped a cop or tow truck driver before anything terrible happened (I think it was fine, given it was a Sunday night). All that to say though, I'm not entirely sure where the ideal parking is if it's not at the train station. We were only in the restaurant for a minute (enough time to ogle a fridge or freezer of tasty looking meat to the right of the entrance), so I can't speak to the spiffiness of the interior. Even though rain was a possibility, it seemed worth the risk to stay outside due to the temps and large umbrellas. No regrets in that regard. We were seated promptly and ordered shortly thereafter, while also receiving some decent bread and butter with a bit of olive oil drizzle. Quite tasty. Somehow it's become an informal tradition, but if it's on the menu we usually get the Grilled Octopus. One of the better ones we've had. Nice and crispy (texture to me is the key to this one) and seasoned well. The accompanying potatoes were a nice touch to the proceedings - would totally get this again. A lot of the other apps looked good too, but someone accidentally made me birthday weenies on the grill earlier, so I couldn't get QUITE as frisky as I normally would. Both of us gave the lamb a long, hard look (and my chum wondered aloud about the ribeye special for the rest of the evening - possibly the one that got away) but I ultimately went with my classic Short Ribs entree. Delicious. Tender, flavorful and the perfect serving size. I was a little nervous that a puree versus mashed would mean the potatoes were too wet or liquidy, but not the case at all - they maintained their relatively solid integrity as far as I was concerned. I forgot to take a picture of dessert, but I got the Creme Brule. Also excellent, and at the perfect temp. I think there may have been a birthday musical accompaniment with that, but it's all a blur. Arguably just as good if not better was the service. Our waiter was super personable and professional, stopping by regularly and just added a hospitable touch to the meal that brought this to the upper echelon for me. Service is king, and it matters - you can't take for granted the ability of your server to essentially riff for two minutes on their menu knowledge, as well as just good-natured banter. Had that in spades. Coming back for sure - Womb Exit Anniversary or not.

It was my first time doing karaoke and I honestly don't know that I would do it again. We booked a karaoke room for an hour for 6 people on a Thursday evening, and while the singing was fun, the service was below subpar. When we arrived, we did not have a full menu available to us in the room, so it took a few mins to get our order in. Our server kept close tabs of every minute in karaoke, but not the food. It took over 60 minutes to get our wings! Apparently there was some sort of mix up in the kitchen & while we were understanding, what threw us for a loop was that even though our wings were DELAYED, our server was hesitant to offer complimentary time in our karaoke room while we waited. Right at the 60-minute mark, he was quick to offer two options - our wings to go or a table in the dining room. In the end, we had to negotiate an extra hour in the karaoke room since our food took SO long to come out. When paying the check, we were surprised to see a charge for food we never ever received! I'm super disappointed that they tried to take advantage of us, when we were very understanding of their mix up. In my opinion, servers could use a lesson or two in customer service. I dared to try the cauliflower wings (half & half), which actually wasn't bad. Both flavors was good, although I personally like the spicy better (just make sure you can handle it, although it won't be too bad if you're used to spicy food). Garlic fried rice was okay, but not the best. Also seems like they don't give you a side of pickled radish at this point, but maybe that's because we're in Jersey. Also the kimchi fries weren't what I expected. What the fries were crispy and tasty, they just give you a tiny cup of kimchi cheese sauce. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I expected the fries to be way more loaded. I ordered for pickup and it did take a lot longer than expected. I also felt sorry for the hostess, who was running around trying to help. There also was 5 people just standing around chatting, but the music was just a tad too loud to hear anyone trying to get their attention. I'm sure dining in would be a chill vibe, but can still have that and have it all together yk? Last thing is I definitely asked for bacon mustard sauce and heard them confirm over the phone, a bit annoyed they forgot that!
