I can't believe I've never reviewed one of my favorite places to eat in the Twin Cities. I've been coming to this location for about 20 years. This particular evening my family and I were greeted by the most respectful and courteous young ladies. They were attentive and patient. They never rushed as our big family placed their order. The food was excellent as always. My leg quarter seemed a tad bit undercooked but the rest of the meal was scrumptious. As long as they're open we'll always visit this location as we love everything about it. The nostalgic feel of yesteryear is great ambiance. Keep up the good work!!!

Stopped in to pick up some delish pie for Christmas! They carry the old Baker's Square pies and we had to grab a French silk. Staff was super helpful and attentive right when I walked in. I did not stay to eat but as always, Famous Dave's was clean and comfortable. The pie was delish! Def recommend!

Another good experience at Famous Dave's - 4 stars. This is clearly one of the OG Famous Dave's full-service restaurant locations, complete with all of the awesome vintage decor. And they're right next door to Mickey's Diner, a true Twin Cities icon. Despite their old school status....and despite the fact that I've driven by this place 100s of times over the decades...this was my first time ever visit. Again, it was a good. I've never had a bad experience at any Famous Dave's location. And the 7th Street location didn't disappoint. The food was good, the service was good, and the décor is impressive. They have 100s of antiques and vintage things hanging all over the place. Very cool! LOW CARB: It's easy to eat low carbohydrate carnivore style at Famous Dave's. You can buy various meats by the pound. They don't force you to purchase plant based sides. Nice! I got a full pound of beef brisket. Thumbs up! -Maxx

Solid location. Famous Dave's is a chain, and this one is an "order at the counter and they bring the food to you" kind of spot. Looks like you can reserve tables here because we went when a group was having a party, but even then, service was pretty good. I love Famous Dave's bbq sauces and pulled pork. Wilbur's beans is also pretty good- nice and smoky. Although i liked the mac and cheese, there is corn in it, which was def a surprise. I've been spoiled by Kansas City BBQ, so it's hard to find a good match in the Twin Cities but it's a good spot if you are craving bbq.

All the sauces!

I know, I know. How could Famous Dave's get a five-star review from ME of all people? Well, they've returned to making good barbecue. We got the two-meat tray with St. Louis Ribs and Rib Tips. Sorry, we're rib-loving people, so we'll take them in pretty much any form we can get them. We ended up just eating the tips, because it's a rather generous portion. I'll be eating my ribs for dinner. We both also got broccoli. We do love their broccoli because they don't over cook it. A little black pepper on it, and it's perfect. I got the beans, to give them a try. I don't actually like baked beans, so it was a risk. I was reminded why I don't like them. Well, they appear to be pinto beans, which I hate all by themselves. The beans weren't terrible, tbh. I just don't like this dish, so we can't blame FD for that. The rib tips are great. They're meaty and a good size. I like to try the different sauce combinations when eating them. My favorite is the Sweet & Zesty mixed with the Devil's Pit. You can also never go wrong with the Rich & Sassy, of course. The service was quick and friendly, and I'm happy that Dave's has returned the focus on good food. Oh, the Sweet Tea is SUPER SWEET, so mix it with the unsweetened tea. If you're in this area, give this Minnesota staple a try. If you go on Thursday, they have all-you-can-eat rib tips!

Decent counter service style restaurant that was virtually empty at lunchtime on a Sunday. Snagged a couple lunch combos, mine was brisket & tenders, hubby had pork & tenders. Both were very enjoyable. The young lady responsible for running the front counter was frequently MIA & there was no way of getting her attention. I realize good help is hard to find nowadays, and employees are often doing double duty, but as the only front of house staff member, she should've been standing up front and completing tasks, not hiding in the back frequently.

Years ago We used to go to linden hills famous Dave's and it was always awesome. Progress closed them down. Sad. Bloomington sucked and closed. Tried this location three times in recent months and they've been good. The st Louis style ribs been great so are the fries and the lunch $9 hickory chicken sandwich +1 side was surprisingly really good. Give em a whirl!

This spot never disappoints. The Slad was meaty, great smoke and delicious!!! Cornbread muffins- always always always so yummy! You want to keep eating all of the !

Burnt dried out and hard smoked jalapeno cheddar sausage

I have had problems with this restaurant before before, but today I picked up my order, got to work open my container and my smoked sausage was burnt, dried out, and hard from being over cook. Should have wait until I tasted all of my food the rib tips taste old and bad the chicken wing were burnt as well it seems the cook can't cook without burning the food

STEVE B.

Energetic front order crew - bring your patience tho as ain't nobody in a hurry here. :) Love the old school decor with collectibles and nostalgic photos. Giant burger was awesome and we loved the smoked turkey sandwiches. Great home brewed (I think) iced-tea.

How have I not yet written a review of any Famous Dave's location? Once in a while I will cheer myself up by cramming down some quality meat, usually at this location, and it routinely does the job. This time I got a two-meat lunch, which comes with one side and with more modest portions than the dinner version. It was over ten bucks, and I couldn't help but think about how other barbecue places give you a lot more food for ten bucks. But this food is GOOD. The meat is always really nicely cooked, and every side dish I've tried has been great. This time it was the mac & cheese, which is made very interesting with the addition of corn & peppers. And then there are all those sauces. No other barbecue place in the Twin Cities has such excellent sauces. I always make sure to try them all, eventually settling on the one that wins me over on that particular visit to squirt all over whatever is left. You know what I don't like? The paper they serve the food on. They give you an old metal tray, which is separated from your food by a thin sheet of wax paper. So when you cut your meat with a knife and fork, it cuts up the paper and those little bits of paper threaten to get into your bite. There MUST be a better way. But I still sometimes like to come to Famous Dave's for that yummy meat and sauce and other stuff.

We've always enjoyed them but these were truly outstanding! Tender, meaty and a perfect kiss of smoke. Everything you hope a rib would deliver! The FireBox sauce was perfect as always and only boosted the experience. The sides were great as always. I ended up calling back to the restaurant and spoke to a staff member and share our feedback on how fantastic the ribs were tonight! I encourage everyone to give Firebox a first try and or a revisit.

Three of us checked them out for a Friday lunch. It was definitely worth the trip to meet my Wisconsin buddies for some rockin' Q. This is a casual, order-up-front kind of place. Grab your beverage, pick your own spot, and they bring the food to your table. The meats are excellent. I grabbed a half pound of smoked sausage, a half pound of pastrami, and a half pound of beef brisket. My friends both ordered pork ribs. Everything was wonderful! Being a zero carb dude, I really appreciate that you can order meat by the pound (and the half pound). Thankfully, they don't force you to order plant based items. As zero carbohydrate carnivore eater, I didn't order any plant based sides whatsoever. But my friends got broccoli slaw and waffle corn bread (very clever) as sides. They loved their sides. Both of them topped things off with big Texas Brownies and a la mode French Vanilla Ice Cream. The brownies were giant and flavorful. They actually made the whole back dining area smell like chocolate. Finally, the service was excellent. The food came out fast & hot. And the owner popped out of the kitchen a few times to check on us and to chat. Nice guy. They have live music. But we came early and missed all of that...so I can't comment on the music scene. All-in-all, a great place, especially if you're a carnivore. Thumbs up! -Maxx

I'll say I don't love the side options (except the sticky rice). I'd love to see them give their take on classic southern sides like some sort of greens or Texas sides like elotes or brisket beans. Or more Asian sides. What they have currently is just fine. But they DO have the most important part down, and that's the meat. The ribs are as good as the best places in the area (Firebox, Jellybean and Julia's) but they're still unique. They have a few sauce options--the green one is amazing. Their Asian pulled pork is great. And their brisket is above average. I've yet to try their beef rib but it's a goal in the future since I'll definitely keep going back.

You can tell it was high quality meat. The meats all had a sightly sweet taste to them. I almost didn't need any sauce. I did use a lot of Hmong pepper sauce though because it was so good. For my sides, I ordered the sticky rice, apple coleslaw, bbq sauce, and hmong pepper. The sticky rice was made just how I like it - hot, sticky, and just the right amount of chewiness. The apple coleslaw was good but not memorable. The Hmong pepper sauce was fresh and spicy-- but not too spicy. It gave a good balance to the sweetness of the meat. I docked one star for the following... They provided some tables that look like the ones K12 children sit in at lunch. You can tell they didn't put much thought into designing their outdoor seating (which is currently the only seating available). Additionally, there was nowhere to wash your hands or even hand sanitizer.

You get west coast mid century modern that feels cozy and hip. The band played from 3-5 which I admit I originally thought was weird. But quickly realized why. Yelp reviewers have no taste. They just want a slab of meat and they're all happy. I should've tried their sauces before I bought anything. The barbecue sauces were all ketchup based. A good barbecue sauce has molasses, brown sugar, and tomato sauce not ketchup and white sugar which is what these were made from. I'd have been better off bringing in my own bottle of barbecue sauce from the grocery store. We ordered a half rack 6 ribs and two sides of coleslaw and potato salad. The coleslaw was runny and too liquidy. It had zero buttermilk in it. It was also made with apple cider vinegar which is a HUGE NO, NO. The potato salad was meh. No mustard. Just white potato salad. THEY HAD NO CORNBREAD! How much does a box of jiffy cornbread cost?!? Seriously, this business should NOT be in the rib business. The half rack of ribs: DRY, DRY, DRY. They were baked way too long.
