Came here for shoes before a trip. Our chosen shoes were on sale! Awesome. Except not. According to the ladies at the register, the sale was "not currently active." So why weren't the tags switched out? Blatant false advertisement and tagging. Not all the items were on "sale," so it clearly wasn't the case that all items were tagged incorrectly. This is ILLEGAL in California. I let them know, pointed at their County Department of Agriculture sign right on their register, and they did not care. Please check your receipts. THE MANAGER NAMED MARIA Harassed me for absolute no reason. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT THIS LOCATION EVER AGAIN.. I just went in to find shoes for work. About 10 minutes in to me browsing I hear a lady talking AT me from the opposite side of the store. I had just ended my interaction with a deferent employee only moments ago Manager- "DO YOU NEED SOME HELP?" Me-*looks around to see who she's yelling at* oh... I then realized it was directed to me... from about 30 ft. away* Me- " no thanks , I'm okay right now" Manager- (still on the opposite side of the store) "OH REALLY ? BEACUSE I WAS TOLD THAT YOU JUST LOOKING AROUND THE STORE" Me-*strange.. but okay* "Im good actually" For the remainder of my time in the store, I was followed by the male manager. I could hear Maria (female manager) call out for the male Mngr. there was a couple moments of silence and that's when the male said "yeah, I know. I'm on it) He then became my shadow attempting to be discrete (unsuccessfully) There were about 10 minutes left until closing so I walked from the women's, to the men's, and back to the women's.. trying to decide which ones I wanted. I settle on a pair of white/pink Nikes. AS SOON AS I GRABBED THE BOX, I could hear his keys jingling quickly as he bolted to the front entrance and stood guard. *seriously w.t.h is going on?* As I walk to the front counter TO PAY FOR MY SHOES I hear the female manager, Maria say to the other, "is she wearing them? "The look on her face when she realized I was standing at the front counter waiting to pay, was like a deer and headlights. I asked who the manager was, and found out, unfortunately, it was her. So I proceeded to tell her, very calmly I didn't appreciate how they were making me feel so incredibly uncomfortable. As if I were doing something wrong. i'm not a thief. I work hard for my money just like everyone else. I believe karma is everywhere so personally, I choose not to do bad things in general. I'm not sure if it's because I was wearing sweatpants and a baggy sweater that they thought I was trying to rob them for a pair of $65 shoes or what. It's honestly disturbing how badly I was just harassed in that store you know what Maria said when I told her that they were making me very uncomfortable?? she skipped over my question as if I didn't even say it and responded with "do you have a phone number with us?" so because I'm calling you out to your face, because you were wrong... you want to pretend like it never happened. In need of another pair of casual shoes with a little character, so I stopped in the Famous to see what they had. My feet grew while I was pregnant so I am in need of replacing all of my shoes. I have been looking for some dressier sandals for work so I stopped by here to see if they had any I was interested in. This location is one of the smaller locations I have been too. There wasn't much variety in the store because of this. I didn't see anything for myself but didn't leave right away to glance at what they may have for my son and husband. There are some greats brands here like Nike, adidas, puma, vans, converse and more. The prices are all average for the brands that you are getting as well. The store employees didn't greet me once while I was here, they stood a the register and just talked with one another which is annoying but I didn't get anything so it wasn't a big deal to me, I didn't need them but I don't want to feel like I have to beg for help or interrupt two staff members from their personal conversations if I am interested in making a purchase. Overall, everything averages out to be just okay here. Great brands, decent prices, low variety, not the best customer service. read more

I have always shopped at famous Footwear, and never once have I had an issue, the staff were always nice and helpful and I always got what I came for, except this last Sunday.. The lady working there was rude and not helpful at all, when I asked for a size she didn't even bother to check and just told me no it was all out, we also called her over to us 2 different times and she just completely ignored us! So I went ahead and just bought the shoes I was looking for at JCPenney. I will never go back to this store, they just lost a customer who would always spend over 150 on shoes. read more

Stopped by this location a couple of days ago looking for some boots. I have been shopping at Famous Footwear for years but haven't been for a while. When I went into the store, about 95% of the shoes they were carrying were sports shoes. Only 1 and a half row of women's shoes and about the same amount of men's. I don't know when they changed their focus from fashion footwear to tennis shoes but I will definitely NOT be shopping there again. read more

I just want to say amazing job to whoever hired the two young ladies helping yesterday! From my initial phone call to the one assisting me. Truly amazing customer service. Yesterday was my first time walking into this store/company. I first went to the one by my house in Santee. Was informed about the buy one get one 50%. Delighted i started to browse but they did not have mine or my sons size in the boots I was interested in. Nothing bad with Santee they checked online but didnt offer to check El Cajon and seemed very busy. No one was rude just nothing extra. Here is where the 5 stars come for the El Cajon employees. Phone call: I called to check on a size, whomever answered was very sweet, welcoming and seemed happy to go check on the size for me. Less than 2 mins on hold and she came back letting me know both sizes were in stock and they had both short and long boots. I told her i didnt see the long version at the Santee store so i wasnt sure. She said not a problem she would be more than happy to hold both styles for me and would be there to help when I came in. Tamma/Tanna: Greeted me with such a geniune smile. Asked if I needed help and I said yes, I wanted to measure my sons foot to make sure I was getting the right size. She was so friendly with my son, made him laugh. She saw me trying on boots and seeking my size and without hesitation offered to look in the back or any other store to see if my size was available. For some reason, out of all the trendy discount shoe stores that are out there, Famous Footwear is my favorite. Especially because they have a pretty good website as well. If you get on their club card you can accumulate points from purchases. After a number of points you get coupons, $5, $10, $25 off. Maybe that isn't a great deal for people who don't buy shoes often but unfortunately I have a problem, I'm seeking help, lets move on. Oh, and did I mention they sell a lot of size 11's? And you can return the shoes you buy online at the store. So if you buy enough to get the free shipping you can also save money by returning them in store. It's a win/win! The employees are very friendly and helpful. There's always a wide selection of shoes to choose from. The store is well stocked and has good prices. I bought my brother a pair of Nike sandals on January 15th and had to return them because I got the wrong size. I had no problem exchanging them. Very good customer service here. read more

The manager at the parkway location made my day! I believe her name was Morgan, super friendly and bubbly blonde who was so helpful!! I had previously went to the famous foot wear in la Mesa where the store manager there was very rude and unfriendly, she was Asian and I don't remember her name. Morgan at parkway was so sweet and helpful and conversed with me as I tried on shoes. She even helped me pick a pair cause I was torn between two options. You can tell she really works hard at her job and is such a people person. She definitely needs a promotion. Her positive attitude made me day! read more

I was in the store on May 27th looking for shoes for my daughter who lives in Texas. They did not have the shoe in her size, so the salesperson told me she would find them in another store ( if possible) and ship them free to her.. Not to mention selection they give great coupons and have great clearance prices i found shoes for $5. Came in here to browse their calf boot selections and although they do have a variety of styles, they seem to be pretty limited in variety of those styles and not too trendy either, just basic stuff here. They do have basic shoes for all types of people but not a lot of choices. I suspect that due to the size of the store it limits how many various styles they can have here. The store reminds me a smaller version of DSW. Similar set up with about a third the choices. Payless had more variety. The customer service was ok here. Was offered help but we didn't need it since we were looking for something in particular (which we found at Macys nearby for about the same price as what they had here). As we were leaving though the clerk made an odd comment to something to the effect of "come back when you have a reason to stay longer" which I felt was a bit off-putting. A simple "hope to see you soon" would have been more polite. I more than likely will not be coming back here for that reason, that and the lack of shoe choices as well. Granted the store excels in organization but is lacking everywhere else when there's plenty of similar shoe stores with better amenities, especially in the mall itself. read more

the hispanic guy who is the assistant manager with the brown dolce and gabana eyeglasses at parkway plaza in el cajon city,ca did a bogo return and didnt let me know what he was doing until he was finished. I asked him during the return what was wrong since he took a long time with my return but he just ignored me. i felt like he treated me like a criminal. i had an online order and he wouldn't take the invoice but said he needed my card. the shoe that i returned were beautiful but they were painful so that is why i returned it. he made it seem like i was returning the full price item to keep the the cheaper shoe at the 50% off price. at the end he handed me the reciept and said the return is going to balance out because it was a bogo. i thought "balanace out" meant that my full price shoe was returned for 25% off the original price and they would take off 25% off the full price off the second pair which i was fine with because i understand that the store would be losing out if they return the full price and let me keep the second item at 50% off because easentially a "buy one get one 50% off" sale is 25% off each item. i shop at jcpenney all the time and that is what they do for their bogo sale and if u need to return one of the bogo items they will return the one item at 25% off the original price and the return price is always on the receipt so there aren't any confusion.this is my second time shopping at famous footwear and it will be my last which is a shame because they have nice shoes. read more
