a slice of cheese pizza in a box
    Dennis L.

Just tried this pizza joint yesterday and it was delicious! Tried three large pizzas, one sausage, one pepperoni and one cheese. I tried all three and everything was excellent. It was recommended by someone and it did not disapppoint. I can't believe such a great pizza place was hiding in Van Nuys. All three pizzas were very cheesy and the dough and crust pretty soft. It was the perfect blend and surprisingly good. Everyone who tried it raved about how delicious it was. I personally prefer deep dish and particularly like Numero Uno, but for anything non deep dish, this place takes the cake. Definitely recommend. Sorry couldn't take pics before people started grabbing them. It was that delicious!

First time ordering gave it a chance, and one my pizza is burnt. Also order the bbq chicken that was a somewhat burnt as well. Overall not impressed, taste wasn't that great either. At least remake the pizza guys..

Good pizza! It has a nice crunch! I ordered an extra-large pizza, half pepperoni and half pineapple, and it was fantastic. Even two days after my order, I can still taste it. The service was great, and the restroom was quite clean.

This place has great pizza at a great price. I really liked the crust and the toppings were great quality. I've always bought take-out from this place but I kind of like the interior of the restaurant for its mom-and-pop feel so I could see myself dining in also.

    |[ s p a m ]| Wrote a review before not sure what happened to it but I'll repeat it again. They will constantly blow up your mailbox and trespass into private property to spam you with their junky ADs!! It seems they have a second location with a similar name because I just got spammed yet again (ad tucked into my door) and the AD looks identical. QUIT SPAMMING PEOPLE!!!! It is extremely annoying and I am not interested and never will be. :( |[ n o ]| It is illegal to force yourself into private property to spam people with junk and force them to have to throw away the trash. As you can see from other reviews they shamelessly so this, most like bc the food is subpar. Market the legit way and work on making your stuff better instead of turning people like myself off from ever giving the time of day.

(Tookout 01/16/21 SA @ 12:00pm): Based on their reviews, this pizza joint was famous in their local neighborhood! Living during these COVID-19 times, my roommate and I have eaten a lot of takeout pizza as we have systematically been trying all of the neighborhood pizza joints and wherever we might be which was the latter case this time with Famous Pizza. I've seen their coupon menus https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=pbuOZ41qY4jgZhLSewEhHA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw littered about at a nearby rental property for years and finally decided to give them a shot as I worked in the Valley. According to the presumed male owner I met, they have been around for over 13 years. And, as a marketing professional I succumbed to their paper spamming - damn you! Would I consider them again since I was always in the area!? PURCHASE Potato Curls w/Marinara Dipping Sauce ($8.99): A pure impulse buy, these thick spud curls were lightly fried with a moist steamy inside and totally a meal on its own; I was pleasantly surprised https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=LxoYHZFg7cF4wk-tv5SR7Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! 10pc Spicy Chicken Wings w/Ranch Dipping Sauces ($9.99): At $1.00/piece and truly an impulse buy, these were fine but surely nothing special or memorable https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=hlF2WzqHms-bbA0YjHoxtw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Chicken Caesar Salad ($10.99): Crisp romaine lettuce, seasoned croutons, Persian cucumber, shredded parmesan cheese, chicken bits, lime wedges, and Caesar dressing on the side, this was a large simple fresh salad while the dressing was flavorful with a smooth texture; not my favorite Greek salad but served its purpose in getting greens inside of me and also a meal on its own https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=k2mCcolO2CFn0zjsCDN6Ow&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Artichoke Hearts & Mushroom 2-Topping 14" Large Pizza (2/$21.99 Coupon Promo): My roommate's choice, I bit burnt on top with a decent amount of fresh toppings, the thing that stood out the most was the lovely fluffy pillowy crust I probably could've comfortably slept on it and then eaten it in the morning! I wished there was more sauce, but all was fine https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HMwE2FupRQ9cYfev5alvyA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Ham & Pineapple 2-Topping 14" Large Pizza (2/$21.99 Coupon Promo): My choice, I went Hawaiian and loved every bite. The same comments from above also applied and could never have enough toppings https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=3R5-8NnNK4FjXWqlEV7ghg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! SERVICE During these COVID-19 times, they recommended online orders/payment for takeout although they also accepted phone orders and walk-ups (I did the latter). The older gentleman who took my order was friendly and efficient. I knew what I wanted, placed my order, and less than 20 minutes later everything was ready to go - great job! PARKING (FREE) Located in a strip mall with several businesses at the intersection of Victory Blvd. and Hazeltine Ave., I found a spot in the crammed lot. Otherwise, there was plenty of street parking along the aforementioned streets - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A quaint dining area (three tables) and a single old arcade game which were not in use due to COVID-19, the vibe was mainly a pick-up order kind of joint. The orange-painted walls were covered with generic pizza parlor food framed pictures https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=2CWlgX9feOGnFvp8MGMaHQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Decent natural lighting came in through the signage-covered front glass windows and front door while soul-sucking fluorescent ceiling lights covered the rest. There was one TV and no background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Famous Pizza was a nice surprise and another example where targeted marketing can work. Because of its proximity to one of my family's rental properties, I would consider another visit. Frankly speaking, I'd go back only for the cloudlike crusted pizzas (the other items were nothing special) as long as the prices stayed better than comparable and the ingredients continued to be fresh while the service was fast and friendly. Plus, it was always a pleasure to support a mom & pop small business. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $60.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

just ordered delivery and delivery came 15 min late and driver forgot my salad, Chicken fingers were MICROWAVED(Rubbery, and soggy), no marinara for mozzarella sticks, and CALLED 12 times and they are not answering the phone to help. Update after 15 calls.. They picked up the phone and let me listen to background noise 3 times. Now its just a busy tone. pizza flavor was 3/5.. and that was the best part. going to have to call this 60$ meal a near complete loss/robbery and order something else to eat

    Chicken and bell pepper

What great pizza honestly all those bad review maybe just had a bad experience and should go in Person instead of ordering online I came here many time and never fails great pizza my kids love it and so do we. the worker that was there was a good guy . might not be like big cooperations like dominos Pizza Hut ext but the small companies are always amazing This company has been here for many years and the reason they are still open is due to great pizza ! So keep it going

I had Ham,, pepperoni, double pineapple, and mushroom. Heavy sauce. Heavenly!

I love this place! 5 toppings of your choice 18.99. I never eat the crust, except for here! Soft yet crispy! Great flavor and love the sauce. Fast and consistent. I always pick up order and it's hot and ready in 10-15 min. Eat this pizza!

Thin crust that is very flavorful, good sauce, not too much cheese, just enough, not that deep dish stuff that midwestern people think is pizza but is something else entirely. When I first moved here, you could not get the real deal, it was disappointing. Then the grandson of Regina's Pizza in the north End opened up the Pizza Connection is Canoga Park and it was really good. He opened a bunch of other locations but over time, not sure why, the pizza just wasn't as good. My child Emily Asher Kellis disagrees, still loves it, but she was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, so what does she really know about pizza. After trying a bunch of different "New York City" pizza joints that were just ok, we found Santino's NY Pizza in Sherman Oaks and were very happy with it, authentic East Coast pizza. Well last week I discovered they went out of business. Oh no, what were we going to do? So I researched and found there was a place in Sherman Oaks called The Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn, only two locations, here and in Brooklyn and people said it was the real deal. Tonight we tried it, and you know what, it might just be even better. Santino's sauce had a slight sweetness to it that we liked that this doesn't but the sauce is good, and the crust is even more flavorful and they are a bit more liberal with the olive oil usage, which true East Coasters love while I am told that most health conscious Southern Californians do not. Anyway, we are quite happy that we can continue to get our pizza craving satisfied when we just gotta have some slices.

There's always space for shops like this that keep things simple and stay in their lane. Today I tried a slice of their Eggplant and one of their Pesto. The eggplant was good, but the Pesto was great. The eggplant needed a bit more flavor, whereas the pesto was rich and paired perfectly with the ricotta. The staff here is awesome. They're always ready to help and since it's a small space inside, they'll keep to themselves if you eat in there. If the weather is good, I prefer to eat out front. Despite the busy street, it's surprisingly peaceful with a slice in hand. Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn is a great option if you're close by and looking for a solid, cheap slice!

Yes, the atmosphere is dark and spare, and this location could use a paint job, but the staff is friendly, and the pizza just can't be beat. I also love the option of sitting at a counter, because it's just more comfortable when doing the slice thing alone. They had quite a few pie options on display, including a Chicken Ranch pizza, which may require a call to the boss: combined with the BBQ Chicken and Hawaiian Pizzas below it, Mulberry may be committing a 3-strikes foodie felony. That said, I ordered a slice with sausage and a Coke Zero. The great thing about Mulberry Street is that their slices are on the larger size while still maintaining a thin and crispy crust. You definitely feel like you're getting far more bang for your buck here, and that's before you even take a bite -- that's the closer. The pizza here is top notch, with good quality cheese that melts perfectly and retains both its chew and flavor. The tomato sauce is nicely balanced between sweet and acid, and the sausage on top was richly flavored. Drizzle the slice with a touch of their signature chili oil, and you really have a terrific bite. I have to say, while the excitement around Mulberry may have diminished after so many years, and after the arrival of so many other places now doing what once was only being done by Mulberry, the quality of their food has remained first-rate, and they continue to top the list of places serving slices in this city. The proof: with Joe's pizza just steps away, Mulberry had far more people eating there at Friday lunchtime, and their pizza was much fresher (the pies at Joe's always seem to have been sitting for quite some time). While this outpost really needs to invest in some paint and a rethinking of the lighting, Mulberry definitely takes the crown when it comes to the food.

Every time we order it lately, I find myself wondering why. The pizza has become incredibly salty, and the quality seems to have gone downhill. Today really took the cake. Instead of ordering a whole pie, we got a few slices. I ordered pepperoni with onions, olives, and extra cheese, which doesn't seem like an unusual request. When I opened the box, I was genuinely put off. It looked like they had taken a premade pepperoni slice, laid what appeared to be slices of sandwich cheese on top, and sprinkled raw onions over it. I understand that by-the-slice pizza is premade, but this felt lazy and unappetizing. Mulberry used to be great, and it's disappointing to say this as someone who grew up eating there. At this point, I'd honestly rather have Domino's.
