Thin crust that is very flavorful, good sauce, not too much cheese, just enough, not that deep dish stuff that midwestern people think is pizza but is something else entirely. When I first moved here, you could not get the real deal, it was disappointing. Then the grandson of Regina's Pizza in the north End opened up the Pizza Connection is Canoga Park and it was really good. He opened a bunch of other locations but over time, not sure why, the pizza just wasn't as good. My child Emily Asher Kellis disagrees, still loves it, but she was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, so what does she really know about pizza. After trying a bunch of different "New York City" pizza joints that were just ok, we found Santino's NY Pizza in Sherman Oaks and were very happy with it, authentic East Coast pizza. Well last week I discovered they went out of business. Oh no, what were we going to do? So I researched and found there was a place in Sherman Oaks called The Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn, only two locations, here and in Brooklyn and people said it was the real deal. Tonight we tried it, and you know what, it might just be even better. Santino's sauce had a slight sweetness to it that we liked that this doesn't but the sauce is good, and the crust is even more flavorful and they are a bit more liberal with the olive oil usage, which true East Coasters love while I am told that most health conscious Southern Californians do not. Anyway, we are quite happy that we can continue to get our pizza craving satisfied when we just gotta have some slices.

There's always space for shops like this that keep things simple and stay in their lane. Today I tried a slice of their Eggplant and one of their Pesto. The eggplant was good, but the Pesto was great. The eggplant needed a bit more flavor, whereas the pesto was rich and paired perfectly with the ricotta. The staff here is awesome. They're always ready to help and since it's a small space inside, they'll keep to themselves if you eat in there. If the weather is good, I prefer to eat out front. Despite the busy street, it's surprisingly peaceful with a slice in hand. Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn is a great option if you're close by and looking for a solid, cheap slice!

The tomato sauce is nicely balanced between sweet and acid, and the sausage on top was richly flavored. Drizzle the slice with a touch of their signature chili oil, and you really have a terrific bite. I have to say, while the excitement around Mulberry may have diminished after so many years, and after the arrival of so many other places now doing what once was only being done by Mulberry, the quality of their food has remained first-rate, and they continue to top the list of places serving slices in this city. The proof: with Joe's pizza just steps away, Mulberry had far more people eating there at Friday lunchtime, and their pizza was much fresher (the pies at Joe's always seem to have been sitting for quite some time). While this outpost really needs to invest in some paint and a rethinking of the lighting, Mulberry definitely takes the crown when it comes to the food.

When I opened the box, I was genuinely put off. It looked like they had taken a premade pepperoni slice, laid what appeared to be slices of sandwich cheese on top, and sprinkled raw onions over it. I understand that by-the-slice pizza is premade, but this felt lazy and unappetizing. Mulberry used to be great, and it's disappointing to say this as someone who grew up eating there. At this point, I'd honestly rather have Domino's.

I had a fantastic meal at Famous Pizza, a well-known local restaurant famed for its superb pizzas, and it definitely lived up to its reputation. The pizza was superb, showcasing the expertise of their chefs. The toppings were fresh, tasty, and balanced, making every bite enjoyable. However, I tend to prefer a less crispy crust on my pizza. While the slightly burnt edges might be appealing for those who like a crunchier texture, I would have loved a softer crust. Nevertheless, the pizza's overall quality and flavor were outstanding. Bad experience !! regarding the customer service . A server name ( Juan ) answered my call and i ordered 3 different large Pizza's and asked for not to make it with any meat but when i received my order and open the first one then i see they put meat on it , where i asked for no meat because we're Vegetarian. And then i called back the restaurant (Juan) answered my call and i explain that happened and he said he can't help me with . Which kind of Unexpected. Terrible service !! So my note to the owner that you should teach all the employee a good customer service, especially (Juan) people who speaks very rude to customers. Very unsatisfied to customer service!! read more

Very Impressed!! Just moved into the area and received a flyer on my door last night, and decided to give em a try. Here is what we ordered: Family deal 1 large pizza 10 wings and a 2 liter soda. pizza crust was good, not chewy, nice size, sauce was very tasty and the cheese was really good. Chicken wings were very good, the rep on the phone told me to get them well done and spicy which i did and they were some good wings!! Driver was on time and polite, arrived to my door in about 35 minutes, and i diddnt have to meet him at the door as opposed to what i ordered the night before! thank you and you have gained a new customer! read more

My buddies just drop by unexpectedly and I ordered the first flyer that I can get my hands on... I was not expecting something this good and the delivery was super fast ! X-Large Pizza and some hot wings... To serve four hungry guys around $38 I wish they can deliver beer but I guess it's illegal in California. This was my first time ordering Famous Pizza and the food was actually pretty good. I was craving Hawaiian Pizza and Hot Wings so I ordered a large 14" Hawaiian Special pizza and the 10 Wings combo. I ordered it in person and I asked for "extra sauce on the wings", which I was not charged an additional fee, however, when I received my wings there was no extra sauce. If you don't know it, Joe Peeps is on Magnolia, just East of Whitsett, with the cartoon of Joe (presumably) "peeping" over a wall. They've been here 45 years, and were, for a long time, one of the only places to get a somewhat traditional NY Slice or whole pie. You park and enter from the back, and are immediately visually assaulted by walls covered in graffiti, like those in the sadly long-gone Wiener Factory. The dining area is small, with just a few tables, the vast majority of the overall space having been given to the prep area and ovens. You order at the counter, pay, and wait for them to bring you your food. Service is quick and friendly, and there are plenty of options, including salads and pasta dishes -- some other folks were eating cheesy garlic bread that looked very good. I opted for a slice with sausage, and was happy to find the little nubs of pork were well-seasoned and had a little punch of spice atop their specifically Italian flavor. The tomato sauce had a thickness you don't often see on pizza these days, and I really enjoyed the slightly acidic, very fresh tomato taste. Mozzarella was high quality with very good flavor, making for a truly satisfying slice. Crust is a bit thicker than I usually prefer, BUT: they know how to bake their pies, so the crust still has a proper crisp and crunch to it despite the thickness. The crust also has its own flavor, so you know that THEY know how to do what they do. It's not the prettiest, most uniform-looking slice in town, but it IS one of the better tasting, definitely homemade slices you'll find for sure. The only drawback I found was a bit of an aroma coming from the restrooms. I've been in lots of places with this issue, and I know it can't be resolved without a full remodeling, which these folks are unlikely to do. That said, the pizza here is much, much better than what you'll get at the fancy chain that's recently opened across the street and is no-doubt creating competition -- and I'd rather have the good pizza than anything else.
