Sauce needs work.. too much garlic salt and oregano. Dough has been sitting... i can tell. Mushrooms smell funny... my wife says the slices werent cut all the way through... what a pain! Picked up 2 large 3 topping pizzas... owner counted "cheese topping" as one of 3. I felt i was charhed 20% tax.. lol. It looks like they need it. Will not be coming back! Just tried this pizza joint yesterday and it was delicious! Tried three large pizzas, one sausage, one pepperoni and one cheese. I tried all three and everything was excellent. It was recommended by someone and it did not disapppoint. I can't believe such a great pizza place was hiding in Van Nuys. All three pizzas were very cheesy and the dough and crust pretty soft. It was the perfect blend and surprisingly good. Everyone who tried it raved about how delicious it was. I personally prefer deep dish and particularly like Numero Uno, but for anything non deep dish, this place takes the cake. Definitely recommend. Terrible pizza at this location. I like the location near Kester and Vanouwen. I used to eat here sometimes when i lived in the area. They deliver to you which is good. He tells me they messed up the Pep and Shroom and that they were remaking it free if I could just wait an extra 5 minutes. Pizzas come out, and they give me the "messed up" pizza as well. Awesome service. The messed up pie was super undercooked and just the edge was messed up. They could have finished cooking it and offered it, but I was grateful for the extra pizza. The replacement on the other hand was a Sausage and Mushroom. which nobody wanted and tasted absolutely terrible. Local neighborhood pizza place with great hours and a tone of deals. They have a green salad I'm a fan of if you're curious about alternatives... However not much else I can boast... My roommate frequents this spot within walking distance of our place, but only out of convience and the insane amount of neighborhood doorknockers/flyers we've accumulated, but not to fret you can find one almost anywhere within a two miles radius, usually on your fence, gate, a driveway as they blow off and about.... This place has it's own recipe for flavor and unfortunately many people I know just aren't a fan, but I support small mom and pop local business and chains... and the customer service here is really above solid. Do yourself a favor and try anywhere else. When I called on the phone the man barely listened to me and was yelling at someone while I tried to place my order. I asked him to repeat the order back to me including no green bell peppers, he repeated it back correctly. Just a couple of small criticisms of this establishment. I find that I get overcharged on the tax from time to time, and sometimes it doesn't seem important enough to make a big deal out of it, so I just pay the difference. However, this time I ordered the chicken Alfredo which the female owner told me would cost $14.99 plus tax. This should have come to $16.41, but she charged me $16.98. Not having the tax in my mind at the time, I paid for the food, but later realized this was an error. When I came back to pick it up, I called this to her attention, and she told me, "Oh, we charge for the bread. It's 50 cents." If they charge extra for the bread, why not just include that in the initial price, so there's no misunderstanding? The only other thing is the flyers which I don't mind getting constantly, but I noticed that there are no medium or small pizzas advertised, only large. I've had Famous Pizza twice now, so I can confidently write a proper review. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the quality just didn't add up to the cost. I have ordered their cheese, pepperoni, and one of those specialty pizza. However, they all tasted like pizza from popular chains such as Domino's, which wasn't what I was looking for (no offense Domino's). I also tried their spicy wings, but those are overly salty. Just ordered their medium pizza, lasagna, garlic bread and mozzarella sticks today. Delivery took about an hour and they do charge $2 for delivery. This is my second go around with them and I have to say that they have the best pizza in the valley. The crust is nice and chewy. The sauce pairs well with the dough with just the right amount. The cheese stretches and has a texture, feel and taste to real mozzarella and not like the fake ones that are used with the chain establishments. I will definitely be back for their pizza. As for their lasagna, the sauce was on the salty side and did not appeal to me too much. The sauce almost tasted like it just came out of a tomato paste can. The garlic bread that came with it was an Italian 6" with slices of mozzarella in the middle with hints of garlic. To me, that is just lazy and not how garlic bread should look and taste like. Should be toasted with garlic butter rubbed on it. Will not be ordering this. The mozzarella sticks were just ok. Nothing extraordinary about them that I can say. The marinara sauce was a little on the salty side. It's probably the same sauce they used for the lasagna. I think it's pretty pricey for just 6 sticks. Really good pizza! BUT they over charged my delivery by $12.00 and when I call ed the to correct it, the lady said she needed to wait for the manger to open the receipts so she could look at them. Turns out this lady that gave me the run around all day and then ignored me after that was the OWNER and could easily do the things needed to correct the problem herself. I contacted her several times to fix this problem and she just ignored all my texts and calls. The she said that had no record of the order that they overcharged me for. Pretty good pizza for a small place in a random corner strip mall! I've only been here a couple of times so far but they don't disappoint. They have good deals on large pizzas with 5 toppings ($13.99). A variety of their large specialty pizzas are $13.99. I usually go for their combo pizza: pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, olives, green peppers & onions. I love how their pizza is not greasy at all and come with a good amount of cheese.
