It's Thursday June 3 @ 1pm. Whoever is working in the kitchen doesn't know how to cut pizza. Either they are cutting the pizza too fast or they simply don't know how to use a pizza cutter OR both. This is my very first time trying Famous Ray's Pizza. I opened the pizza box and the very first thing I said was, "Who cut this pizza, a baby?" The lines are crooked, giving each pizza slice a very odd shape. It's off putting. The pizza taste good but I really wished the pizza was sliced properly. read more

Back for more offspring food. One cheese and one capricolo pizza. Both large for multiple meals. They were tasty and had an excellent crust. Have had 4 pizzas from here in the past week. Overall this was a good and fairly cheap pizza place. I would go back here again as I enjoyed the meal and the price service and ambience were all good, that said I wouldn't say they really nailed it all. Far and away the biggest positive was the best thing about the experience. The crust was great! They're going for a great NY style crust and they clearly got that. My 11yo son, not typically a fan of crust per say, felt it was especially good. The bad I would have to say were the toppings. Sausage and pepperoni were both good, neither were anything special or exciting. The clear biggest disappointment of the meal were the pepper on the pizza; pretty sure they were canned. My wife suggested maybe they were sautéed, maybe they were, but had an old flavor to them and just had that very mushy texture to me. Place looked clean, menu board was easy to read, plenty of parking, staff seemed friendly enough. Nice place to go and get a pizza to go and felt with such a good crust it was worth the price, if they just put a little better toppings; maybe something more interesting and fresher. I'd say 4 stars pretty solidly for this place fits this place and if they make a few changes could be great all around as I'd say the crust is the hardest thing to get right. read more

Whoever the two older gentlemen working Friday night shouldn't be anywhere near customers or food. So last I check we have this pandemic going on that requires all of us to wear masks and such. No one working was wearing masks or gloves. In fact, one of the guys was wearing a tank top who was cooking. Nothings better than some possible armpit hair and sweat falling into my food. Since the whole covid thing is going on I had to order take out. I got there and food wasn't ready so I was waiting. The two older guys were complaining so much they had to work. One was saying how they've been working for the past hour... on top of all the whining and moaning I heard at least five f bombs while me and another customer was waiting for food. I think that is so unprofessional and inappropriate. My food was finally ready and he shouted my name then practically threw the bag at me. I understand it's tough times but you shouldn't treat customers who are still coming to your restaurant like that. After seeing the lack of cleanliness on top of everything else I will not being back. I couldn't careless if the wings are great. read more

So before we dove into the rice pudding last night, I thought we should eat something with some more substance and nutrition... and although I'm not the biggest pizza fan, I swear I've heard somewhere that pizza is considered the perfect balanced meal! I did make a spinach salad to go along with it, but calling ahead to Ray's was quick and easy. We ordered one large Sicilian cheese pizza (actually, Jared ordered it this way - I would've ordered some fun toppings but oh well) for the four of us to share. Turns out it was plenty... One piece was just enough for me - they are big slices and even with the guys eating two slices each, there were a couple leftover slices too! Ray's was pretty impressive - if you like a little bit of grease on the pizza, Ray's delivers just that... I followed my friend's lead and blotted it a bit with a napkin before diving in and devouring my slice. I would 100% take out from Ray's again... it was reasonably priced ($16.50 for a large - actually, that may be a bit pricey for pizza but since I don't eat it very often, I am kind of clueless); it travels well, and I bet leftovers are just as good if not better - actually, I'll find out today when I have them for lunch! read more

A little disappointing Today was my first time ordering fromthis place. I was excited to find a local spot close by. I ordered two slices of pizza with sausage pepperoni, mushrooms and peppers, and fried zucchini The server was nice, I was disappointed by the pizza it wasn't fresh. (It tasted old, then they threw the additional toppings on the old pizza and reheated it). This made the texture of the crust harder. The fried zucchini was a little under cooked. I am a foodie and know good pizza. I'll have to give it a second try an actually order a whole pizza and not a slice to see what the difference is in taste. The food was decent but not amazing. I ordered some garlic knots and an antipasto salad last night via DoorDash. And sadly enough I was pretty disappointed. The garlic knots were OK at best however they were supposed to come with sauce and they didn't. The antipasto salad was fair again. It wasn't traditional antipasto salad. No one in the building was wearing a mask and the lady behind the counter couldn't wipe the disgusting attitude off of her face so maybe she should. Everything about this pizza was a disappointment... canned mushrooms, soggy crust, barely melted cheese. I put it in the oven for a minute when I got home and it made it slightly better but not much. I've been passing Ray's for ages. Grocery shopping was done a little later than normal and it was too late to start up on a meal, so pizza was the choice for dinner. We weren't doing a national chain... Ray's was the closest and best option. We ordered the massive 19" pizza, and zucchini sticks. Walking into Famous Ray's, I had to step out for a second because I wasn't sure I was still in Phoenix. I thought that I had stepped into a portal that took me to New York. The smell in the shop was amazing. The food, the food tasted better than the shop smelled. The crust was outstanding it was airy and crunchy. The sauce had a good consistency and didn't taste sugary. The toppings. Oh god the amount of toppings on the pizza was just incredible. I want to go back. I want more. read more

I live in Chandler and I wish we had Ray's Pizza in the East Valley. A lot of people push the New York Style pizza but the taste does not even come close. Hats off to Ray's for making a great tasting pizza. So many family owned businesses financially are struggling amidst this Covid crisis. This one star is well deserved simply for bad service when it comes to customer satisfaction. They only have Pepsi products as fountain drinks and are charging $2.50 for a can of coke. When I ask for a cup to pour my coke into to add ice, I'm told that a cup costs an additional $0.45. Mind you, a small fountain drink costs $2.15! Those prices aren't comparable and that's a rip-off all around. Can't make me see it any other way. read more

I called Rays at 845 to find out what time they close. The lady said they close at 10. I drove 20 minutes to arrive at 905 and the two young workers had already locked the doors and yelled at us they were closed. They closed 55 minutes early. Not only did I call ahead but their website stated they were open until 10pm. Nothing tasting like garlic knots. - the worst is the pizza: first, the toppings are not what was mentionned in the menu. The Greek pizza doesn't include peperocini. Also, it was missing tomotoes. The worst part, that the toppings weren't even coocked. They were thrown over an old, probably misdelivered cheese pizza. I am only giving a one-star review because a selection is required. I will never order from this location again and neither should you! I ordered five extra large pizzas of different variety and found a thin metal screw in one of the pizzas. I am not even sure that this is a screw or a piece of broken metal from some machinery used during the preparation of the pizzas. I cannot believe it. The screw was literally cooked into the pizza. Disgusting! Finding a screw in one pizza made me extremely apprehensive about the other four pizzas. Had I or anyone else swallowed the screw it could have caused serious internal damage. That's how sharp the metal screw is. If I can attach a picture, I will. To make matters worse, I called and was told there was nothing they would do other than re-make the pizza. Why would I want a new pizza to find more metal cooked into it? After being told they would not refund me, the person I was speaking with proceeded to tell me that they don't use metal in their kitchen and that he has no clue how the metal got in the pizza. They refuse to take accountability or at least show concern that this metal was found in my food. His exact words were "come back on Monday and MAYBE someone else will be able to help." Absolutely unbelievable! Do not order from this location because they clearly don't care about our health. If I found a sharp metal screw in my pizza, I wonder what else goes overlooked in other pizzas. Thankfully, we found the screw before ingesting it. I ordered through DoorDash. I ordered 20 wings and a large two topping pizza. I got 12 wings delivered. I don't know what happened between the store giving the order to the dasher and it being delivered missing 90% of the food I paid for. I hit help on the DoorDash app and asked for a reorder on the pizza not having opened the wings container. The wings had only 12 instead of 20. I tried to get help from DoorDash and they said they compensated me for the pizza. I said there was no compensation but a reorder. They said that they don't have to refund me per the agreement I made with them in the app. Utter garbage. I called the store to make them aware that I never got the pizza and half the wings. I was told that was a DoorDash problem. I let them know that I was just wanted to know how the dashers pick up food. I was told that they show the order on the phone and that the dasher can't leave without the whole order. Ordered take out from this spot last week and it was great, pizza was good and the wings were well done (like we asked) only thing was we asked for blue cheese and received ranch. We decided to go back tonight and do pick up instead, we ordered a pizza, wings and a house salad. I walked in with my mask (as usual) and not one single person was wearing a mask. Very odd, and not very reassuring. We came home and opened up the food and the pizza was o.k this time, but the wings were under cooked and Luke warm and the house salad was absolutely terrible. The lettuce was brown, and it came with the large tomatoes, tiny chopped green and black olives and chopped Peperoncini with kens steakhouse blue cheese packaged as the dressing. I've been a customer since I moved to AZ in 2015, and I was surprised how NYC Style the place, people and pizza is. Having also lived in NYC. I appreciate the dedication to their authenticity. And I also really enjoy everyone's authentic attitudes. I always get the nots a giant pie (white or pepperoni) and a calzone no sauce just mozzarella and spinach, which id like to add is ALWAYS tasty. Their antipasto is delicious too. I like to get salad with my carbs. But hey that's just me. This is by far my favorite pizza joint. And I eat it for days after too because I'm a cold pizza lover as well. The pizza here rocks! Malley, a traditional New Yorker oversees the production. Awesome crust and they use the right cheese and process so that your cheese never slides off of your pizza. The walls are filled with New York memorabilia for those missing home. Clean and comfortable with a TV to catch all the sports. The cast of employees all talk in that "Yo Rocky" inflection. I picked up a cold pizza with pepperoni stacked on top of each other not even spread out so it was making the pizza heavy and falling apart after nicely tipping and six years of loyalty I called to let them know what happened and the manager Nick called me a b!$@# so if I was you I would call 2 brothers pizza down the road Great service awesome pizza and the best homemade ranch you ever tasted!
