Well established Tucson business with a few locations on the area. This spot was very welcoming and a great place to grab a bite and a drink. They have many TVs to catch a games, happy hour and daily specials and kid friendly. The Hurricane drink was strong but not to strong. The grilled chicken salad was delicious, crisp lettuce with bacon , tomatoes, hard boiled w and tasty grilled chicken and husband was really happy with his chef salad. We held our book club here last night on a Thursday night. There was only 1 waitress there to wait on everyone, and she did a great job! We all got our orders in great time and she was very friendly and on top of things! The place was fairly busy in the beginning, and then died down a bit despite the rain. I order a Mother Road beer from Flagstaff, and a fish sandwich with fries - the food was mediocre and the chairs were awful! I had to brace myself because I kept sliding forward. I was looking for a new place to try for drinks & food not far from home so I decided to give Sam's a try. Big mistake. I started off ordering a Lagunitas IPA. I could tell from the first sip they hadn't cleaned their tap lines in a while. I ordered a double bourbon to chase the bad taste away. Next, I decided to try an order of wings - parmesan garlic with bleu cheese. They wings were on the slimy side rather than crisp & they were literally swimming in oil. Literally, the worst wings I've ever had in my life. I couldn't finish them. Daring to push on, I ordered their 'famous' stuffed pastrami sandwich. Stuffed? Our first choice for a Sunday lunch had a wait list so Famous Sams on Oracle and McGee was our second. Relived to see only 3 cars in parking lot I was ready for a cold beer and sandwiches. Upon entering the gal at the bar was hovered over some paperwork and after several minutes refused to greet us or even look our way. We just stood there so I told my wife to use restroom and I would approach the bar. Friendly enough after engaging her at bar I ordered a beer and drink for wife. There was only 1 other person at bar and one playing pool. We sat and waited at least 15 minutes after I got our menus from the bar. At that point we realized the staff could care less about customers, left bar tab and undeserving tip and will most likely never return. These employees were probably the reason place was empty. Really sad as this was my favorite Sams location and have eaten here many more times than my check ins or reviews reflect. 12:30 Sunday afternoon. Mgr did get back with me. Hidden behind McDonald's on Oracle & Magee, there's no hiding the BIG flavor in their burgers and mountain of fries. An honest, serious, delicious bar burger. We've been going to this location since the smoking ban and it's usually a good experience. We've also ordered pickup many times. We recently ordered food to pick up and have at home and it wasn't a great experience. Cheese on our burgers wasn't melted, the fries were very under cooked and the 'basket' of onion rings for us to share had seven small onion rings. For $10 we got seven small onion rings. We opened the box and thought we were being punked. Too many other choices around to not consider going elsewhere. Hoping this was an anomaly, though the most expensive onion rings on the planet! Met a friend here for drink on a Tuesday night. No very busy but it was a week day. We sat at the bar and each had two whiskey with coke. I'm a Jack fan, he is not. The pour was alright, good enough to have a second. Night was not so bad till our bartender got a little unfriendly with my friend. I'm sure it was just a bad day for both of them, it just made me a little uncomfortable. The place was dead at 8:30 pm on Sunday night football. I was hesitant to go in, but I was tired of driving. The bartender was friendly and on top of it. As for the food geez, it was bad. I ordered a side of potato salad, and the portion was less than a cup super dry and TASTELESS!! I'm puzzled why this restaurant isn't more popular. But first of all it's hidden behind the Pusch Ridge automotive center between the McDonald's and the Arby's. The food is good and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The ambiance is pure sports bar so don't expect anything fancy. It's a great place to see a game and have a beer. While enjoying a vacation at El Conquistador we decided to grab a quick meal and famous Sam's popped up on our search. No wait, picked our seat and was quickly greeted by Zack. Zack was quick to get our drink order and soon after our order. Zack was knowledgeable of the menu and suggested items and substitutions to meet our hunger needs. Food came out hot and tasty. This is a Tucson staple. Never been to this location which is slightly hidden despite it being right off Oracle. Middle of the day on a weekend and place was quite empty except for the group I was in. Typical bar/restaurant with mandatory large screen TVs. Service was ok but was a bit slow considering the place was not crowded. I only had a beer , which was fine, since I had eaten about an hour earlier at home. Others in my group had food like nachos, burgers, and no one complained. Overall it's an average place. Nothing new fangled but also quite comfortable. Super fun bar. Been a patron for over 10 years and love this place. Football Sundays are the best in town. The bartenders and wait staff are all top notch. Well, we TRIED to make this our new Sunday football spot. We came in to find a large group of Steelers and Browns fans in a large area so that's where we joined in. I immediately asked, since we were all focused on that game, if the overhead audio could be changed to it instead of the Vikings 49ers game. The server said that that would be impossible because the guy running the place is a Vikings fan. I assumed that the entire (fairly large) venue was wired for just singular audio which, in and of itself, is pretty lame for a large sports bar but we just figured we would suck it up and watch anyway. More on the audio in a minute. We both ordered the wings which were okay. The hot teriyaki tasted like scorched sauce and were not very good at all but the smoky BBQ was delicious so it kind of offset things. I will say that the chocolate bundt cake was amazing. Now... back to why we were there. The Vikings game ended and the Steelers Browns game went to overtime. I asked again if we could NOW change to the overtime game and was again told that it couldn't be done because "new games were coming on". Wait... what??? You have an obviously close, rivalry game 'in overtime' with a room full of people cheering for their respective involved teams, but it is more important to the guy in the Vikings Favre Jersey (lol) that we all listen to freaking highlights and boring pregame instead of finishing up the overtime game that half of the people in your establishment are watching?? I was beyond pissed and will absolutely not ever be going back to this place. And several others around us felt the same way. Note to management - if you have a sports bar, but can't figure out the very basics of the audio for a large place, you are not going to get/keep diehard fans. Separate your channels, set things up so you have three zones (in this case), and don't alienate half of your patrons by making them mad. It's not difficult but you have to care enough about your customers to do it right. And if the "audio zones" is NOT the issue, then you have absolutely no excuse for the crap that went on today. Went on a Wednesday night because the Golden Nugget was a little crowded and Famous Sams is really the only other place to find Karaoke on a Wednesday and my friend wanted to sing her heart out. The inside was clean, the bartender was friendly and the DJ was fun and in a good mood. When it comes to sports bars that's really all I can ask for! Angry Orchard on tap was great and it was super dead so you didn't have to wait forever to sing. Only downside, the food took forever to come out and we only got fries and an appetizer trio. We have eaten here several times. Most of our visits have been to watch a game and have some drinks. This visit we decided to have burgers after reading the review by Bob H. I went with the spicy blue cheese burger and my wife had the regular burger. The burgers were great. They were fresh, large, juicy, and just outstanding quality that you would expect to find at a gourmet burger restaurant. The fries and sweet potato fries were the sides and they were good. Our waitress was Melissa and she kept our drinks full and went out of her way to give us great service. The place is a little dated however it is clean and the seats were comfortable while watching the entire game. They have several TV's but none of them really large. They offer several daily drink specials and the food is priced well. It was monster Monday so the drink special was a 25 oz beer for 3 bucks. Food is lame to terrible, most of the servers have no personality or sense of humor. Yes, they have TVs but, that is about all that they have to offer. Unless you are a regular, you are pretty much ignored. Most of the sports bars that I go to are fun and exciting with great food. This place does not hit the mark at all. We went in there a few days ago and there was about 10 people in the entire place. We ordered two of the items that they are supposed to be known for, they are pastrami sandwich and their wings. The pastrami sandwich was way over cooked and the wings were rather small. We ate the food (I've heard stories about what happens when you send the food back), but did not enjoy it at all.
