I have to say, that this was a pleasant surprise of a sports bar experience. When I walked in Sunday afternoon about 2 PM, most of this bar was full of customers. The bartender and server seems to be interacting with everybody, laughing and having a good time. I was told to sit down wherever I wanted and within one minute my server came over to me , got my drink order and left a food menu for me. I had a large beer that was served at the perfect temperature and ordered a Philly burger. The burger was nice and large and covered in a tasty brisket. Served with grilled onions and cheese. The french fries were also hot and very tasty. I was trying to think of my score for this experience and have to give it a five there were no real problems at all! It's a sports bar and doesn't try to be anything else. Televisions were on all over the place and there was a good energy flowing amongst the staff and customers. So everything that it is rated on; food service, and ambience all met my expectations. Great job by everybody I will definitely stop back! read more

I ordered the Cheese Crisp with carne asada...for an appetizer, it came out like a pizza....great size appetizer, we all 4 loved it. I also ordered the taco's 2 chicken 1 carne asada...very good. Hubby ordered the Pitstop splitters burger deliciousness!! I forgot to take pics ...wish I had.....just got one of the last piece of the cheese crisp that none of us could finish off, we were full! I frequent this bar in upper Tucson for work, but the owner falsely accuses patrons of not paying their tabs. When corrected and shown proof of payment, the owner still refuses service and removes patrons from spending money there. Krysette the server is trash. We came in to celebrate my birthday. We racked up a hell of a tab. She never once asked us if we needed anything else. She dropped our drinks and ran. She was an awful server. She could have got a $100 tip from everyone in our party but was awful. Then Proceeded to approach us afterwards and call us names. Trash trash trash. Awful. Will not be back. I've been coming here for 8+ yrs. Will not be back. What an awful terrible experience. Spoke to the bartender/manager on duty and she stuck up for the server. My friends come here often and usually enjoy the experience. When I do visit, Dez is consistently great and the kitchen staff does an excellent job. Unfortunately, those are the only positives. During a previous visit, I attempted to calmly mediate an issue between a bartender and a friend after the situation was misunderstood and based on incorrect assumptions. I acknowledged the bartender's frustration and tried to help resolve the matter. Once it became clear that the interaction was escalating unnecessarily on her end, I removed myself from the situation as an adult. I used to speak very highly of this place until now. After my friend did not leave the tip that bartender expected, she returned and asked him to correct the amount. He then added a $10 tip, which I personally witnessed being written onto the receipt. He did so because he felt uncomfortable with how he was being addressed. She goes onto yell about her "being a single mother and she's going to help people that give her better tips" keep in mind this lady has served us once and this was the first time. Even after she got the tip, she chose to be petty and not take the tip and then reprinted the receipt to make it appear that he didn't. I chose not to leave a review at that time because I wasn't going to allow her to determine our overall experience. On a later visit, I returned intending to cover the bill and leave a larger tip to make up for that incident in good faith, as my friend was unable to do so at the time due to financial responsibilities as a single father caring for a chronically ill child. Despite this, my friend was later denied service and publicly embarrassed over the prior incident. When I went in to clarify and mediate the situation, I was simply seeking understanding, as I had joined him after work and was not present for the entire visit. I'm a college student and often come with friends as a stress reliever and have fun, but they've been treated poorly on multiple occasions. I plan to address this with management. Also, be cautious on fight nights. We spent about $80 on food, only for a security guard to remove it while we briefly stepped away, without explanation. A few great employees, but overall the experience is inconsistent. read more

A sports bar for people who REALLY care about sports. I stopped by for some quick drinks and a snack, and the house was absolutely packed! TVs lined the walls around the entire lobby, and the volume was UP for some UFC match. And while MMA is the last sport I care about, it was neat seeing such a big crowd watching it together (even if this place gives me big MAGA vibes) Putney's has a respectable draft beer menu, and a few basic, fruity cocktails too. Instead of going for chicken tenders, a burger, or loaded fries, I went with an unusual bar snack--some spring rolls with sweet chili sauce on the side. They were fried perfectly, just like you would get them at a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. I could definitely see myself coming back during football season and trying more of their expansive menu. We went in for lunch the other day and I figured you can not mess up a salad. I ordered a salad with chicken ( $4.00 more for chicken added. It was the worst salad I have ever eaten. The lettuce was very warm and wilty, you could tell it had been sitting out on the counter ( the lettuce that was used ). It had no crunch or life to the leaves, also the chicken was chopped up into pieces so small you could not pick them up with a fork, they had to be scooped up and you could hardly see any pieces of chicken for an extra $4.00 bucks !! Busy on a rainy Friday night. I had low expectations going in. Sat alone at the bar and ended up with the meatloaf plate, mashed potatoes, salad, and a water. Ended up being the best meatloaf I've had in Tucson, and it makes me curious to try their other food. The mashed potatoes were from scratch (you can tell by the lumps), and the gravy was tasty. They even accommodated my picky order (no tomatoes or cucumbers on the salad, and no ketchup on the meatloaf). The ketchup was served on the side and ended being a bbq sauce. Nice touch. I did notice that what appeared to be regulars there were greeted by name by the waitress, which was kind of nice. We started off with a soup that I don't even know what it was called, but it was heavenly. This is a scratch kitchen, so that's amazing in itself. Then we tried the fried avocados ! Super epic! The menu has something for everyone, the prices are good, the service and atmosphere are great. The food is a mystery, it wasn't bad, it's just that something was missing. I would say it was bland, too bland. To me when a chef seasons food it's sending a message, telling a story. At this location, to me it was as though something was being held back. That is a mistake. Staying down the street for business and wanted to watch the National Championship game on a TV other than the basic 19" hotel room model. Found Putney's via Yelp. Party of 6, arrived about 6ish. Service was fine nothing special. Ordered a Cubano sandwich and a Coke. Sandwich was supposed to be roasted pork with swiss, pickles and mustard. This place is GREAT if you like sports, or just want a place to meet and hang with friends. My friends and I went there to watch the NFL play offs and they have TV's EVERYWHERE! We had been at another place earlier, and it was just not cutting it. When we got there, it was pretty busy, so we were seated at a high table. Beer selection was perfect, cold and priced right. The food ....OH MY. Everything we had was delicious....with the exception of the sad little celery sticks that came out with the wings.....the had seen better days....(just an observation). The burger I had was exceptional! Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The server we had was super attentive (but not annoying), and they do deal (discreetly) with people who have had...a bit too much to drink....and I like that.
