Favorite family friendly "dive bar" in town. It's not a dive bar, but it is dark inside with wood paneling so gives me those vibes at first. Great burgers and onion rings, great bar food in general. Surprisingly it's a nice place to take our toddler because it's loud in a way her random pterodactyl schreeches aren't too disruptive. The kids menu has some great options, the kids burger is almost as big as the regular burger. Make sure to get the pickles, my child ate three, they have very good pickle spears. They also have high chairs and a lot of things for her to look at and keep her fairly entertained. The staff is always so friendly!! I know locals love it, but I just really don't like how they operate here because they can't seem to decide if they want to be a real bar or a sit-down restaurant. I had a post-movie lunch here with two friends a few days ago. I ordered Aaron's Fajita Burger ($16.50), which was just what it sounds like. It was huge and delicious. Service was good and the bar wasn't too noisy. The ambiance is Cheers-style friendly neighborhood bar with good food, especially burgers. I don't drink, so I can't comment on the alcoholic offerings. We came here Sunday afternoon to watch football and grab lunch. They have a huge screen and several smaller ones showing the games, which was great for catching all the action. I ordered the nachos with shredded cheese, chicken, and beef. The chicken was a bit dry, but the beef was delicious. I also had a salad with the same beef, and it was really good. The green tea shots were tasty, as was the short, single Hornitos Blanco margarita. However, I found the Island Summer cocktail too bitter for me. I do wish they offered better hard seltzer options, like Maui or Belching Beaver. They also have pool tables, darts, and a Buck Hunter game, although I think at least one of the guns' aims was off. It's a combination sports bar, Saloon neighborhood tavern, it is not a dive bar and has wonderful food an outstanding beer list and a very fun cocktail list, plus wonderful staff. I have been coming three or four times a winter over the last three years I have been visiting Tucson. They are consistent with quality in all there food and beer. I usually go to a late lunch here it seems to.be less crowded and parking is easier. Everyone is understaffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. Remember they're busy because they're good. Staff have always tried to make sure I am happy. I.am older and driving, so my limit is one beer and a water. They have so many delicious choices on tap, that I get a different one each time. I usually get the French dip with shoestring potatoes sometimes i will get a burger both are wonderful. Just had Sunday burgers at red Garden saloon I had the patio melt my friend had the black and blue. They were both delicious. We got onion rings with one french fries with the other onion rings are so delicious. They're lightly coated not the heavy coating usually get nice and crunchy full of onion flavor the french fries were small and very crispy as in thin small that is in tiny. the burgers were juicy. The Red Garter is quite big, well lit, with plenty of tables. We ordered a variety of beers, tea, sodas, and cocktails. Our server was very efficient and friendly. We enjoyed a basket of fried zucchini, mushrooms, and onion rings. Some of us had the club sandwich which was generously sized. Chicken wings and burgers were also ordered. It was all great and the quality was beyond what we expected. While I wouldn't call this a "dive" it is definitely not the usual kind of bar/restaurant. It has a homey feel that has endured a few decades. Everything seems clean and well maintained including the ladies room. Our server was excellent. One of the best we have had in months. I have been coming here for a few months, and Kianna and Kaitlin are awesome! I have not found bartenders with their caliber of service in even higher end places with "elite service". They are quick to serve, and always have great recommendations for drinks to get you out of your comfort zone. Relocated permanently to Tucson in September 2021 - walked by here many times before visiting, from the outside I could take it or leave it - appears a bit 'dated' - DO NOT let that deter you from going inside.... The menu is extensive which caused me some trepidation, when a place focuses on too many items, my experience is the food suffers (Think Cheesecake Factory) I had the fries (perfectly cooked), then the cheeseburger with onion rings (Again perfectly prepared) - 5 stars. Service from Kellie - 5 stars, bartenders super efficient, reasonably priced food / drinks. Four pool tables in the non smoking section, separated by four pool tables in the smoking section (glass divider). Place smells / looks really clean, bathrooms fully stocked and clean. My only criticism (jokingly) is the door to the outside squeaks by the pool tables - but I picked up a can of WD40 yesterday and will solve that issue next visit. My options have been limited to the same places, just for convenience, and some places close are just not good. I have been to the Red Garter late night with friends, but I forget about the food angle. I went Sunday night and had a patty melt, and it was pretty darn good and at a terrific price. I love a good burger and I am super stoked to have a burger so close to my movie place, a lazy guys dream!
