    Famous Toastery Bowl

Good food, just potatoes lacked flavor and there wasn't much ambiance inside, lacking some decor. The water tasted weird, like old. The staff was really nice though!

This was recommended to me by the hotel staff and OMG I'm so glad I listened. I got there around 930, was sat right away. I ordered the Toastery Bowl with 1 pumpkin pancake. DELICIOUS!!!! I forgot to take a picture until after I was done, it was outstanding and I had enough food for breakfast the next day. Katelyn was my server and she was quick and attentive! When I'm in town, I'll be back!!!

They said I could have breakfast and lunch at the same time so I did!

This is a small place where you can order breakfast or lunch at any time. I ordered breakfast potatoes and mac and cheese simply because it was around 10am and I had the option. The breakfast potatoes were absolutely delicious. Mac and cheese was decent. There were 2 servers, both shared all of the tables. Both were friendly. Food is cooked in a downstairs kitchen and brought upstairs. I would definitely recommend getting the breakfast potatoes no matter what you order.

Stuffed French Toast side and Classic Benedict
    Brittney S.

Stopped by for brunch and tried the Cali Benedict with a side of stuffed French toast. The French toast was pretty decent--definitely a good mix of flavors, a little sweet, a little rich, and overall a nice treat on the side. The Classic Benedict was a solid savory option--flavorful and satisfying without being too heavy. The potatoes were a nice bonus, with a light crisp that added great texture. I also had the fresh-squeezed orange juice, which was a really nice touch--bright, refreshing, and paired well with the meal. Overall, a good spot for a balanced brunch with both sweet and savory options that hit the spot.

The food and atmosphere was great it's just they only had one bathroom for the whole spot so people were crowding next to people trying to eat while waiting for the bathroom.

Came here on a Monday morning for breakfast. 5 of us. We waited 15 minutes to get a seat. When we finally got our seats, we already knew our orders from waiting so long. Drink orders went in and asked if we could put our food order also. After putting the whole order in, food came out first in about 5 minutes. My omelette was tasty and good, but my breakfast potatoes were really cold and under cooked. Drinks never came until we were finished with food! Then complained and still took a while. We will not be back. Plenty of other places. The manager did comp our whole meal. That was amazing and very appreciated

    Huevos Rancheros w/ chorizo ($16) + coffee ($4).

Found this convenient location in the center of uptown Charlotte, where there seem to be few breakfast options. The upstairs is a cute little spot, but don't get too attached to it, as they seat most customers down in the basement where the main dining area and kitchen is located. Service is fast, polite and attentive, and the menu offered plenty of breakfast/brunch options. I opted for the huevos rancheros w/ chorizo. Overall, I enjoyed this dish, but $16 for primarily black beans and two eggs seemed a little pricey. Especially because it could have used some toast to dip in the sauce, and coffee is another $4. For $20, I felt like I could have had breakfast in a nice hotel atmosphere rather than the windowless basement of Famous Toastery. However, the service is prompt, location close to many offices, and the food was good, so I returned a few days later and got the Classic Benedict w/ grits ($13) This was less successful. The Benedict was pretty basic and the grits were watery...not creamy, not cheesy, not flavorful. Even w/ the added cheddar ($1), the grits were runny. At least they offered me a refill of my coffee in a to-go cup this time, which was much appreciated. If you're in the area and looking for a quick sit-down breakfast to fill you up, Famous Toastery is a decent option for basic breakfast fare priced for the convenience of the uptown location.

We almost missed this place because it looked like a simple cafeteria setup, but I'm so glad we stopped in. The food was absolutely wonderful--true Southern comfort done right--and the service from Angela was spectacular. I had the chicken sandwich, and my friend ordered the meatloaf; both were fantastic. The Brussels sprouts were so good we ordered an extra serving. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

    Is there free parking?

Hello Nat, We don’t validate parking but on weekends there should be free parking on the street.

    Does this location validate parking?

I found it difficult to find parking because it's literally in the central part of uptown

The restaurant is beautiful, it feels like a tropical location. It's definitely small compared to the traffic that comes in, but they do a great job of getting through the line and getting food out quickly. I had the Sakura as it came highly recommended, and my boyfriend had the Chicharron. Both were extremely tasty and unique! I've never had a sandwich quite like this. The bread is what really sends these sandwiches over the edge. My sandwich had fresh tuna and delicious sauces/toppings. Pro tip: the salsa verde is a must! It's served down by the water and is the best I've ever had. I'd love to come back and try other options. I think the prices are comparable for the fresh ingredients and the area. You'll spend about $35 for two sandwiches, so to some this may be a deterrent. Parking was easy for us, and they do validate parking for a certain garage. I highly recommend checking out this spot!

I'm sad to say I was feeling less adventurous that day so instead of the Dutch bread I opted for a regular white hoagie roll instead. They also offer all of their sandwiches in a wrap as well if that is more your speed. Their signature sandwiches all come with a number of their own unique ingredients but it's important to note that they have a standard blend of toppings that comes on each sandwich similar to jersey mikes and their "mikes way". I'm glad this was explained to me because I don't know how they would have possibly fit that many ingredients on my sandwich! I went with the Ellie Get In My Belly which came with some tangy honey mustard based barbecue sauce as well as their special Kicks white sauce. The sandwich was delicious although I think they may have gone a little too overboard with the sauce as the sandwich was very messy. That being said I can tolerate messy if the flavors are good and this was a very tasty sandwich and a great lunch. As with most places in the Monarch Market it is a little pricey, but that's the cost of having a small business operate Uptown. I would definitely recommend checking out Kicks next time you're looking for lunch options or find yourself perusing the Monarch Market.

It's right on the way to my yoga studio, so it's perfect for a quick in-and-out lunch, but honestly, it's also the kind of place where you end up lingering longer than planned. My usual order is the ABLT on rye with Boar's Head applewood smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Simple, fresh, and consistently delicious every single time. I almost always pair it with the Spinach Bacon salad loaded with spinach, cranberries, goat cheese, tomatoes, toasted pecans, and brown sugar peppered bacon. The portions are huge and definitely shareable. What makes Rhino special is that it's more than just a deli. It's part neighborhood market, part coffee shop, part beer and wine stop, and part community hangout. They've got local products, grab-and-go snacks, fresh sandwiches, beer on tap, wine, outdoor patio seating, and sometimes even live music. It reminds me of the small independent spots I used to love in the Bay Area around Burlingame, San Mateo, and Palo Alto. Relaxed, local, welcoming, and full of personality. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere feels genuinely Charlotte. Not overly polished. Not trying too hard. Just good food, good people, and a place that locals clearly love. And if you are visiting North Carolina, you absolutely have to try Cheerwine at least once. It's basically a Carolina rite of passage. Cherry soda lovers will probably be obsessed. Me personally? Not exactly my flavor profile, but people here drink it like water, so clearly they are onto something. Rhino Market is one of those places that makes a city feel like home. Life is too short to not eat well, Charlotte. Get out there.

The ordering and payment process was easy. I was solo so I took a seat at the bar area to eat. Sandwich looked good when I unwrapped it, large slices of toasted bread with fresh lettuce and tomato. The strangest thing was, on the left side of the sandwich were several slices of deli turkey rolled up. On the right side of the sandwich were several slices of deli ham rolled up. I hadn't seen a sandwich made like that before. It felt like half of a turkey sandwich and half of a ham sandwich as opposed to a ham and turkey sandwich. Was it bad? Definitely not. I waffled between a 3 and a 4 star for this one but felt generous because, overall, I liked the vibe of the place.
