The mall closes at 6pm but they still took my friend and I for a 5:45 appointment even after we were late. The lady doing mine was in a super rush to leave right at 6pm, my nails look great but everything was so quick that it wasn't really relaxing. I usually don't do this, but I am angry that I had to pay money for this awful job. Not only did I feel rushed the entire time I was there for an appointment I made because they must have over booked themselves. My pedicure was terrible, something I feel like we do to relax. I was maybe sitting there 15 min max. Water was freezing. I wish I knew the woman's name but I don't. When she started on my nails, I told her I wanted tips put on (that's what my appointment was made for) I instantly saw in her face she was not happy. Then when I said I wanted French done she told me I had to use the white tips, she was not going to paint them. I should have left then. When she finished I looked closely and every nail had all these bubbles in them. I was uncomfortable asking her to fix them so when I asked the other lady she had the same one do them. The shape was nothing how I asked either. It's been a week and 2 days since I've had this done & they started bubbling up immediately. We (my mom and I) used to go here all the time, it was the best place. We're from Scituate and used to drive to the mall just to get our pedicures. We figured we'd treat ourselves after the holidays. We went in to get them today and the water was cold, then the staff ignored my mother. Her feet were in the water over 35 minutes and no one came over to her. The lady finished my pedicure and didn't say one word to her. They just non-verbally refused to give her a pedicure. I've been going to fancy nails for a few years now. It's sad to see a once full salon now empty. But with the closing of the mall it is what to be expected. A lot of the nail technicians have found other jobs. They have limited staff working for the last two months the mall is open. People can complain all they want about the wait time but I can see the reasoning behind why they are not hiring more staff. There is no point when the mall will be closing in two months. read more

Came in for a quick nail removal and short French tips, left with crooked nails with a pinkish tint. The nail technician rushed the whole process and when she realized how messed up my nails were turning out she went back over them making them even worse. I have been going to Fancy Nails for years, and I have neverhad a bad experience in till about 2 weeks ago. I went in and got a full set. The tech Tracy was in a rush. It looked terrible when I left. The worst part is I just went to get a fill somewhere else and they couldn't even fill them because they were so badly don't. She never sealed the nails so I was getting fungus under the set. I had to have the whole set replaced. Thank god I went when I did or it could have been worse. Needless to say I will never go back! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE Fancy Nails & Spa! I go every two weeks for a fill for my acrylics and a pedicure. If I could spare the extra $20 every two weeks, I'd get a deluxe pedicure every time. Worth every penny! Everyone is very nice, and even when I have to wait for service, I don't mind. It's in the Hanover Mall, so if it's a long wait, I just go window shopping for a bit and come back. Pedicures are wonderful every time, and I have certainly had some gaffs when it comes to having my nails done (sometimes they're more or less meh) but honestly, it doesn't get much better than this salon, especially for a nail salon in a mall. My favorite place to go to for a pedicure!! They really take the time to make sure you are taken care of. There's not one particular person on staff that is better than another. Everyone does a fantastic job! They have a huge selection of colors as well. Private room for pedicures is a huge plus. The deluxe pedicure is $45 and totally worth it. Love this salon! read more

I got my girlfriend a gift card for her to get a manicure and peticuer Well we went together and it must have been the worst experience I have ever had!! The water was so cold in both of our tubs and when I finnaly said something the woman started arguing with me about it and just left us sitting in cold water and walked out if the room and started on someone else's nails.... I went out there and said very nicely that the other woman working just left us sitting in cold water about 5 min later the woman came back in and yelled at me for draining my water out of the tub. So when she started to fill it up with hot water this time I said nicely shouldn't there be some kind of blue stuff I there??? The woman pick one of the blue bath balls out of the jar and throw in into my tub from about 4 feet away!!!!!! WOW, i was at the hanover mall and decided what the heck i'll try this place out for a pedi. WHAT a find!! pedicure room was so clean and warm and inviting. top of the line pedi chairs and even little kid pedi chairs !!!! how cute. you can tell they are on top of cleanliness which is sooo important . My techniciuan was Mai and she was GREAT ! i splurged and got my self the Deluxe pedi for $45. I am so glad i did. it was just what i needed. great leg and foot exfoliation with a mud mask and hot towels which Mai wrapped around my legs and feet. pure heavan. The massage was great too!!! which is usually lacking in most places. also the music piping through Fancy nails was so soothing and realxing. i love this place !!!! read more

I will never go here again. The service has taken a nosedive since JC Penny closed. The technicians are rude and there's only one tech that is actually skilled. Made four appointments for my wedding party and they only scheduled 3 techs. I got a pedicure and the nail tech who has been rude every time I've gone was unfortunately the one doing my feet. She apparently thought she had a MD in podiatry because she tried to correct and "ingrown nail." I literally shouted. She also burned my legs with the damn rocks. She was super rough overall. She was rude when I was trying to explain the nail art I wanted. Saying "just show me the picture I don't know what you're talking about." Fast forward to the gel manicure, she hastily shapes my nails. All are uneven and misshaped. She over painted parts of my nails so it looks like there are gobs of paint in places. Awful. They must be under new.management or something because theyve always been so busy, and ive always been happy with my.nails after. But I went there today and thought they were closed. Ive never seen it so slow in the 5 years ive been going there. The lady tracy was so rough and rushed through the whole thing. Not to mention so.rude. She didnt cut my cuticles or anything. I cannot with all honesty give a star for my last and final experience at Fancy Nails.. I had been in the past and had mani pedis and waxing done and had earned rewards on my card...... But for the pas 6 months had been going to Ispa at the plaza ...so looking to save a few dollars this week I decide to go to Fancy Nails for a mani/pedi and use my rewards... So I ask for a regular mani/pedi ..pedi completed and that was fine ...we now sit for manicure..I inform the tech that I have gel polish on my nails and that I only want a regular manicure..."she frowns" (I took it that she did'nt want to go thru the trouble of taking the gel polish off) why do I know that ...THE HORROR BEGINS..!!!!!! The tech begins the process of wrapping my nails with cotton and remover and foil she does one hand and then the next and immediately removes the first hands foil...she now starts scraping with her tool to remove the polish I is not coming off..WHY ??? Because she did not leave it on long enough ..now I see why she frowned in the beginning...she was very impatient and did not want to wait for the process of removing the gel polish...she now reaches as I call "THE ELECTRIC GRINDER" because that is exactly what she did..my gel Polish was a French and I assumed she was buzzing off the white French. ...she did the first hand but I cannot see what she is buzzing hand is bent she finishes and shoves the hand in water to soak she continues to the next hand finishes on my pinky and goes right thru the nail to my skin with "THE GRINDER" I scream !!! That killed shoves that hand in water now all my fingers are BURNING !!!! She ask you want Gel????? Repeatedly she asks !!!!! No I only want a regular manicure.... Well do I need to continue No !!! I now go to the front desk and inform the gentleman at the desk that I am very UNHAPPY ..and proceed to tell him why...He says "next time see me I will tell them not to use "THE GRINDER" on you......I said there will not be a next time..I said I would not be returning unless I developed an infection then he would hear from me...and that there was no reason for her to use "THE GRINDER" on me in the first place she was just "Impatient". And after all that she never even trimmed and cleaned my cuticles...this all occurred on May 1st ... It is now June 15, all my nails are still extremely sore and sensitive , the entire nail beds are paper thin, every bit of growth is also paper thin and just splits and peels off...and to think I had worked very hard and patiently to grow my nails so they were the right length, strong and attractive... That is not the case anymore...I have bumpy gouges and ridges on every nail...It will takes months if not a year to repair the damage of my nails incurred by someone's ..."IMPATIENCE"...... I've tried this place a few times and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but each time has been sub par. Last night I got Tracy for a gel manicure and it was TERRIBLE. I get my nails done every 2 weeks at a different salon but stopped in here because I was in a rush and they were open late. Worst decision. I got there at 8 and they closed at 9. PLENTY of time for a manicure, yet Tracy rushed through the entire thing. Every single nail is a different length, mainly because she wasn't even looking at my nails when she was filing them and was too busy gossiping to care. The other technicians put their jackets on and were staring at everyone who was still there making it really awkward which forced Tracy to work even faster. The hand massage at the end (if that's what you want to call it) was borderline a joke. It was so bad I literally started laughing thinking she was joking. If their manicures weren't cheap I would have asked for a refund, it was that bad. Maybe I've been unlucky with the technician I get because others seem happy, but I will not be returning. read more

I love Lisa ( owner) who remembered me only after a few visits, and trinh ! She gives the best foot massages and also has grown to know me and my family, she will have a conversation the whole time!!! I have been going to Fancy Nails for awhile. They have the deluxe pedicure which is absolutely amazing (the only reason they got two stars). The real reason I am writing this is because the service has gone from good to bad very quickly. These woman are going to so fast and being very aggressive. I also feel that they are talking about me whenever I am there. I got a pedicure and it only last two weeks. I paid $45 for a pedi that lasted two weeks!! Nice and clean atmosphere. Talented nail artists who are willing to try new designs that fit the customer's desires. I've gone in with pictures a few times of designs that I have been told by other salons they could not do. However, here at Fancy Nails, they always try their best to do the designs with no questions asked. My full set acrylics that I have gotten done at Fancy Nails also last longer than the other salons I had previously gone to. Nina is the best, and I would highly recommend her! The waxing services here are also really nice. I have gone for eye brow waxing else where, where it literally takes a few minutes, and they're done. At Fancy Nails, they take their time and you can tell that they really take pride in their work! Another big plus at Fancy Nails is that they have a rewards program, which I had never seen at a nail salon before! I went after work and to my surprise it was busy..so the 'manager' approached me asked me what I was having done (gel mani) and told me someone would be with me shortly. For a nail salon in a mall, this place is great. I ended up here because it was the only place open at 5pm on New Year's Eve. It was super crowded when I got there too. I got a regular pedicure ($25) and it as so nice. I liked that the pedicure chairs were in a different room from the manicure tables. Large selection of polish choices, too. This place at first I thought was good. I was in there for 30 minutes for a pedicure and a gel. I gave the women a ten dollar tip for a horrible job. My nails look so bad and the gel is already chipping. I now have to go somewhere else to get it removed because she did such a horrible job. The women who did my nails was very quick to take my money and my tip and I should have given given her such a good tip for a horrible job. Will not be returning to this place. Normally, I would never take the time to do this. However, this past weekend, my friend and I had a terrible experience at this nail salon. We went in to get polish changes on our toes (a service that they offer, so this is not an off-the-wall request) and we were given a quizzical look by the person who greeted us upon asking. We were simply told to "pick a color" and then followed the two technicians to the back room where they do the pedicures. Mind you, I have been here before and love the privacy of the pedicure room. That being said, it was hard to enjoy this visit in the least. My nail tech stopped in the middle of walking, so I stopped behind her (there was a chair to my left and a stool to my right) and she rudely said "go around!" I moved the stool aside and sat down. She reiterated "JUST a polish change?" and I said yes. That was all she said to me for the entire 10 minutes, other than "Bend!" after she put my flip flops back on. She did a good job, that's not the problem. The problem is the attitude that she did not even attempt to hide while doing my nails. I understand that the cheaper the service, the cheaper your tip, but 20% was left even though it was not deserved. I also don't think that $10 each for 10 minutes of work is necessarily cheap. Also, again, this is a service that is offered. If they are going to respond with such disdain and rudeness, and not even try to disguise it which is an essential skill to have when working with the public, they might as well just remove it from their list of services. I wasn't going to voice my opinion, until I noticed, while our nails were drying, that my nail tech said something to a coworker in a language that I couldn't understand, and then that coworker looked up and glared at me. After that, another customer walked in and was greeted with a huge smile and warm welcome by the very same tech who barely even spoke to me. These may seem like petty issues and maybe they are, however, half of the experience is the customer service. I have worked with the public and I know how hard it is to "grin and bear it" when a customer is being difficult, but I wasn't aware that requesting an offered service was considered "being difficult." Not really sure how any one could give this place more than one star. This is the second time I went there and should have known better than to go back after the first time. So I went there last night with my step Daughter, we both got pedi & Mani's Yes they do take you right away but as soon as you get in the chair the try to up sell you which is fine I get it but we had to say no 5 TIMES and then I was told she could get the dead skin off my feet unless I got the deluxe pedi so I asked Oh really isn't that kind of standard in a pedicure? ( I get a pedi every 3 weeks so no my feet aren't nasty) After I asked that she said well it will cut down on the massage time, ok fine, Well she didn't get it off anyway and didn't bother with the massage or any kind of instrument to remove any dead skin.... And while this was going on my Step daughter honestly got a 6 minute pedicure and I only know this because when I put the massage on my chair it was set for 15 min and I looked down at it when she was done and I still had 9 minutes left, Really come on 6 MINUTES? I still have dead skin on my feet and pinky toe as for the Manicure I will say that was good. I also asked who I think was the owner how long their pedicures should take and was told 30 minutes and when I told her about the 6 minute pedicure she giggled and walked away!!! Really? I have been a hair dresser for almost 17 years and know all about up selling and trying to get as many customers you can but come on. And yes I did tip only because I know they depend on the tip and no it was no where near 20% and I also said something to the woman that did the 6 minute pedi and just got a dirty look. This nail salon is in the Hanover Mall, next to JC Penny. Good points: they have many technicians and can take walk-ins immediately (no wait), their prices are on the lower end and they have gel manicures/ pedicures (last longer typically) and an incentive program based upon how often you frequent the place. The drawback is that the manicure section is not clean. I went there late in the day, near closing time and the pink towels that you rest your hands on were disgusting (damp and stained, could tell it had been used all day as I was there near the time they closed), as was the machine that you put your hands in to dry off (touched something slimy in it! Tried not to think what it could be.). The other few times I had been there, it was early in the day, shortly after they opened so I suspect they had cleaned the night before. Also, while they spend a decent amount of time on your pedicure, massaging the feet with river rocks and buffing and soaking your feet in skin softeners, the manicure is the opposite. They operate almost like a factory, designed to service as many people as possible during their business hours so they rush through the manicures after spending so much time on the pedicures. The gel polish seems to generally last longer (they have a policy that if it peels or chips within two weeks, return without your receipt and they will touch it up), but I did have to go back for touch ups a few times (I got them on a few occasions prior to my last trip there at night!). The drawbacks with the gel polish is they don't have a diverse enough selection of colors (I love the dark, deep reds/ purples nearly black or the light sheer pinks/ whites for a clean, professional look) but these colors are harder to find. Some of the bottle of polish are super old - I saw a bottle of OPI called something like Beachem Peachem that I loved and had about 5 years ago, when OPI discontinued the color! Another drawback is the gel seemed to make my nails (at least I noticed on my hands, not as much my feet) very brittle, dry and fragile. They tended to peel and split more after my manicure! If you are looking for a quick, cheap mani or pedi and aren't a germophobe, this place would work! read more
