We recently celebrated my husband's 40th birthday at Fancy's, and I have to say, the experience was exceptional from beginning to end. In a city like Houston, where there is certainly no shortage of restaurants, genuine hospitality and impeccable service can be surprisingly hard to find. Fancy's reminded us that when a restaurant truly understands the importance of its guests and celebratory milestones, it makes all the difference. From the moment we arrived for our private celebration, the attention to detail was evident. What impressed me most was how thoughtfully the team cared for us as private-party guests. Every detail was handled with intention, and we never felt overlooked or like just another reservation on the books. A special thank you to Kay, our server, who was incredibly patient, attentive, and gracious throughout the evening. Her level of attentiveness helped make the celebration feel effortless for us. We also have to give major appreciation to the bartender (who made some absolutely delicious drinks), and Randall (the manager) who continually checked in on my husband and I as hosts! My experience at Fancy's was just okay but I'm willing to go back! The hostess was very welcoming but our server gave the impression that she didn't want to be there for the night. We ordered the Waygu beef sliders, tempura cauliflower, deep fried deviled eggs, and a spicy pepperoni pizza which were all just ok to me. I'd say the food overall was a 6.5/10. The deviled eggs and the tempura cauliflower were good. I particularly didn't like the pizza because it had sweet marinara sauce. I tried the "Forbidden Love" cocktail and it was good! This establishment is located in Montrose. You can do valet which prices can vary, or street parking. If you get there early you can even skip all the line waiting. BEWARE: that if you're a guy they will hold the line for you (they claim they want the ratio of men to women to be even). So I hear some guys will try to get a girl to "take him in with her." Idk I get the concept but it's a bit much. Now if you want to be able to sit down and eat, forget about it unless you reserve a table. Which is frustrating because you can see tables sitting empty for hours and it's like they don't care. They'll say, "you can take it and sit on the patio outside." Meanwhile the patio is full of people PLUS it's hot and humid. Then the bar services are beyond slow. They portrait take their precious time. I could literally make drinks faster than them. Plus don't let them tell you that they don't accept tap to pay, because they do. Overall I was beyond underwhelmed. Honestly I was overstimulated! I was invited here for a birthday celebration. We all ordered the Fancy hour meal, which lets you choose two items and a cocktail for $25. It's definitely a great deal and a good way to try multiple menu options at once. The staff was very friendly and even helped set up the birthday cake for us. The restaurant has an upscale atmosphere that feels great for a date night or special celebration. You may even spot a celebrity when you go, we saw a famous comedian while we were there! Beware!!! We originally made our reservation when this restaurant was still Albi and didn't realize the management had changed until we received the confirmation. Since we already had plans, we decided to give the new place a try. Our reservation was at 6:45 p.m. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only one or two other tables occupied. Our server, Khloe C., was friendly and let us know Happy Hour was available until 8:00 p.m. The four of us ordered two drinks each and almost every item on the Happy Hour menu. Everything was fine until it was time to pay. Instead of showing us an itemized bill, the handheld payment device went straight to the tip screen. We asked to see the breakdown of the charges before paying, but were told the device couldn't go back. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told, "Even the manager can't make the screen go back." We then asked what made up our total of $272.56. We were told it included food, drinks, and a 20% service charge. When we asked what that service charge was for, no one could give us a clear explanation. We also asked whether it was the server's gratuity, and the answer was no. At that point, it appeared we were expected to pay the 20% service charge and then be prompted to leave an additional tip. Because we couldn't get a clear explanation of the charges, we chose not to add another gratuity. I even apologized to our server, explaining that the unexplained service charge was the reason. The biggest surprise came afterward: our credit card was charged $372.06, approx $100 more than the total we were shown before authorizing payment. We will be contacting the restaurant and disputing the charge with our credit card company. Hopefully this was simply a mistake that can be corrected, but our experience left us very concerned. If you dine here, ask for an itemized receipt and carefully verify the total before completing your payment. read more

I decided to celebrate the New Year here with my loved ones, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. While the venue itself is beautiful, it was clear they were not prepared for the evening. Our tickets advertised complimentary sushi, champagne, and party favors. No sushi or party favors were ever provided, and we had to walk around just to locate the champagne. As the night was winding down, we were pressured to close out, which felt rushed. When I tapped my card, the total presented was $133, which immediately didn't seem right. I requested an itemized receipt, and it showed a total of $109 -- a number that already included gratuity. I didn't even have to point out the discrepancy; the staff member corrected it himself. This left me with the impression that I was being taken advantage of and assumed to be too intoxicated to notice the overcharge. They have a limited wine menu - the only red wine they had on the menu was a Cab Sav, which was fine. But turns out the red we ordered was an $80 for bottle of Josh.... We had an event here for Houston Millennials at Fancy's. I think that they Did a great job for what the restaurant used to be. The servers were kind and respectful. And we had a lot going on that day! It was an award show they had the most patience ever for us! LOL Yeah that was a success I think mainly because of the staff. They really pulled it together. Parking was pretty simple because you can always utilize the parking lot across the street. That came in clutch for real! But the place is beautiful a lot of birth bright and deep reds and blacks and metallics. The appetizers I had were pretty tasty though I didn't indulge in many. Just the basic ones... But the TRUFFLE FRIES were my fav. They use burgundy truffle, parmesan, truffle oil, fresh herbs, and pecorino romano aioli. You can taste every single element and the flavors come together beautifully. I didn't want to give a one star for the lack of experience. me and a couple friends visit here (Halloween week 10/29/25) per a invite from the host, and their was a line, and longer wait. I don't like standing in long lines, waiting a long amount of time, so I did give a time frame (15 mins). Looks like every melanin elite bachelor and bachelorette was visiting here on a Wednesday night. The decor is similar to Confessions, but a green setting verse a red, with less space it feels. It's on the second floor, above Men's Wearhouse. They open at 5pm. valet is complementary before 8pm. after 8pm valet is $20. If your car is parked prior to 8pm and you collect it after 8pm, it's still comp valet. if you have to pay for valet, you have the choice of paying prior to entry (drop off) or at departure. I would attempt to try without the crowd, I prefer a slow and low traffic type of event. read more

I've heard nothing but rave reviews about Fancy's, along with a very specific warning: Wednesday is the best night after 8 and make a reservation unless you enjoy standing in lines for sport. Parking is valet but I can't tell you the price because we took a ride share. The line was definitely there. My friend made a call because I don't wait, and I wasn't about to start that hobby tonight. It pays to know people. Fancy's itself is adorable: low lighting, music that matches the vibe perfectly, plenty of indoor tables, large bar in the middle, plus a cozy outdoor area with a bar and heaters so you can pretend Houston has seasons. My drink, Forbidden Love, was strong enough to make me feel something but not strong enough to make me question my life choices. The 3 Woodford Reserves on the rocks had zero complaints, so I assumed it was made right. We didn't try the food, but they offer small bites and sushi rolls. That said, the service felt a bit disjointed and not as polished as you'd expect for the atmosphere. My review for this place is currently indifferent. I've been twice once was randomly a special event for a wine release. The entire vineyard was not meant to know but I was able to mingle with some of the people there for the event. I observed specialty menu items.Orders and drinks specific to the event that I was able to partake in that were very good. The hospitality that night seemed to be on point. Beware when using OpenTable as we were told by the assistant manager that our reservation for 3 was just to come in the door and not actually for a table. The restaurant was entirely empty at 7:45pm except for one other table & couple at the bar; yet the assistant manager told us he really didn't have space for us. Other tables were coming and he'd have to kick us out when they arrived. It was so dead that we thought he was kidding. After some back and forth, he gave us one of the many empty tables and told us to be ready to get up. We chose to get one round of drinks and leave instead of spending our money there after being treated this way -- on my friend's birthday nonetheless. The drinks were fine but not particularly good for the price. He did try to apologize by bringing over shots of well liquor, but the damage had already been done. We ended up getting last minute reservations to the marigold club down the street and having exceptional service and food. We were here for a friend's birthday party. Let me start with the positive. The place is beautifully decorated and lives up to its name. They have Happy hour 5-8 even on a Friday! Now let's talk about why I gave this establishment 2 stars. The menu offerings are limited and very pricey and the portions are okay. The truffle fries weren't hot when they came out and the sliders were salty. The star Martini however is excellent! The service was subpar and slow considering the place was EMPTY our party was only about 15 people with 2 waitresses and it was still slow and not very attentive. Honestly I felt like there were some racial implications. Our party felt as if we were being less attended to because we were African American. My friend whose party it was told me that when she booked her party which was NOT in a private room she was not told there was a per person minimum, however upon being seated she was told there was a $100 pp minimum. My husband and I star eyed at the bar because we arrived before the party, once we moved to the table when we wanted to place an additional order we were told it would not go toward the party's minimum. I don't understand considering we are part of the party. The service was so slow people had to go to the bar to order drinks and guess what, that didn't count toward the minimum either. When she passed and poured the champagne she skipped around and honestly it seemed as if this was her first time pouring for a group. It felt very odd . When it was time to leave when the host wanted to settle his tab everyone was frantic and Susie rested and heard he felt like they were trying to consult with each other to determine what should be added to the tab, , he said overall he felt "buckled and dimed and duped". Policies for parties should be consistent and properly communicated and the policies should not change based on the color of your skin. I looked up this place on Yelp after we arrived and saw they had a 2 star rating and after my experience I see why. I would not recommend this place despite having a cool saxophone player who was part of a 3 piece band. If a lounge is empty at 7/8:00pm on a Friday and barely have people trickling in at 9 it's a strong indication that something is wrong. read more
