Great place to spend a good time. The food and drinks delicious and the attention was so nice

Fandi mata- I been excited to try this place since they opened during the pandemic. I've heard so many great things about it and honestly as soon as I walked in, it didn't disappoint . The decor- the ambience - the music it truly lived up to the hype. We went on Thursday 7:30 pm reservation. The host was extremely nice enough to accommodate us since we were running late. Plan was to start with some sparkling wine then move on to red for our main course. We initially got some items dropped that we didn't ordered but that happens all the time it wasn't a big deal. We just returned it someone was definitely hungry waiting for that app. We ended up ordering the heirloom tomato salad. We were a little surprised/ disappointed since it ended up being more of a tomato sitting on top of a spread than a salad itself. We ordered the rib eye which is 26-28 oz it seemed ideal to share. After we ordered we didn't realize it didn't include any side dish so we look for our waitress and asked her if it was included to which she wasn't aware if it did. A few minutes later she comes back tells us it's not included so we ordered the Brussels sprouts to come along with the rib eye. Maybe 5-7 min later the Brussels sprouts arrived to the table before the steak. We understand things happened we would just have preferred to eat them together with the main course. Rib eye arrives we order our glass of red wine to eat with our steak. After 15 min the waitress comes back and informs us that the red wine which is a house wine is not on stock so they are looking for it. Personally It seemed a little more than she might have forgotten but it's ok we are hungry. The rib eye itself was a bit of a disappointment- there was more fat content in the steak than meat ratio in the cut. I tried informing this to my waitress to which she responds that the cut is a rib eye that's how it looks like. I work in the industry and am highly aware of what a rib eye should look and taste like. Most of our plate was left untouched because of so much fat. The wine arrived at the end once we returned the dish. Overall would come here for drinks- meet friends- maybe hangout for the ambience. On the food and service part I was disappointed. I tried voicing politely my concerns and the server was not very knowledgeable nor interested in correcting the issues I brought up. I would expect a little more attention to service considering the high price point of the restaurant. FYI we had to leave to another restaurant, we were still pretty hungry after this meal. read more

The service was ok, there were multiple times when we made eye contact with the server/he acknowledged us in passing to let us know he'd be over and then never did. There is great decor, but ultimately we were disappointed with our meal. Our silverware was dirty which skeeved us out. The cocktails were tasty but the food was average-subpar. We got the pizza, which was just fine, and the eggs Benedict was way too runny. I probably won't go back unless I'm just ordering cocktails. read more

We had a 10:00pm reservation on a Saturday night. We were told by the staff that they were "out" of almost everything we wanted to order - at one point they even told us they were out of limes when we literally saw limes on the bar. It was evident that they were just trying to rush us out of there. Why even accept a 10:00 reservation if this is how you are going to treat your customers? To make matters worse, one of the waitresses spilled an entire drink on one of my friends. My friend was a good sport about it, and mistakes happen. However, to "make up" for it, they gave her a glass of house wine, without even asking her preference, when the drink she actually ordered was a $20 cocktail. Pathetic. The food was not good, and highly overpriced. Decor and vibe are beautiful. Maybe brunch is better. read more

Came here for dinner. Great vibe and atmosphere but that's what you're paying for. Drinks were good too, but service and food were not as anticipated. Went here for my 22nd birthday. I will say the atmosphere of this place is amazing and the food and drinks were phenomenal, but I had quite a dissapointing experience in terms of service. A waitress spilled an entire frozen drink on one of my guests. They helped her clean it up but did not give her the drink for free or any sort of compensation. Also, one of the guests at the table told a waitress it was my birthday and requested if they could bring out some sort of small birthday dessert. They charged us 18$ for a brownie the size of a little bite! They also charged us for an extra fries on the bill to which I didn't notice until I returned home. When I tried to call back to figure out some of the billing issues, nobody was there to answer the phone. I've emailed multiple times since then and have received no responses. Again, kudos for the amazing food and live music, just wish the customer service was better. read more

let me start by saying i NEVER write reviews, but i have had two really poor experiences here. on my first visit, i came for dinner with a few friends. our waitress was not attentive at all and made numerous mistakes (ie. there was meat on my vegetarian friend's pizza; they brought out another friend's burger with just a patty and no bun because he had asked for it "plain and dry", AKA no toppings). i never blame a server for issues with the food, but these issues were a result of her not putting in our order correctly at all. also had to hunt her down to order more drinks, get the check, etc. i made the mistake of visiting AGAIN thinking maybe the poor service i received was just a fluke, but it was arguably worse this time. i came for brunch on a very hot and humid day. this place doesn't seem to have AC -- it basically felt like a sauna inside with no air circulation. we were seated but not greeted by anyone -- even for water -- for upwards of 20 minutes. i had to ask a food runner to bring us water even though that is not his job. then i basically had to make eye contact with anyone who would look at me to try to get someone to come over and take our order.... mind you the people next to us who got seated after us had already received their food from the kitchen and were eating at this point. we finally got our food, but service was lackluster and i had to ask repeatedly for the things we had requested -- extra bread, the check, more water, etc. we chatted with the manager phil who ended up being our waiter -- he was very nice and apologized about the slow service, but didn't really do anything to make it right (other than giving us extra bread free of charge, which it should be anyway because they gave hardly any to begin with lol). i was disappointed that they didn't offer us ANYTHING to rectify the horrible experience -- even knocking a small item off of our bill would have shown that they care. i left with a very poor taste in my mouth. i will say that the food and drinks are actually quite good and the ambiance is amazing, which is why it makes me sad that the service is so bad. i really hope this restaurant can fix the kinks / hire more people / do whatever it is they need to do to survive.. it seems like they're relying on the trendiness alone to carry them. typically if a place is good enough i will tolerate mediocre service, but i truly don't think i can bring myself to go back here again. read more

Was very mediocre. The venue itself is nice but the food is honestly pretty gross. I got the margarita pizza which was thin water and lackluster, while my friend got the shrimp skewers which were extremely over cooked. Would not go here for the food. read more

The food was pretty decent but the service and consistency of when drinks and items were delivered was very confusing. Some took 30 minutes and multiple reminders and others took 30 seconds. Best thing going is the decor and the space itself. read more

Ambiance is great but unfortunately the food has gone downhill. The Fandi bread has gone from fresh baked to warmed up packaged pita bread. The burger went from a large juicy handmade patty to two pre-made (possibly frozen?) discs. Haloumi fries were replaced with basic truffle fries that weren't fully cooked. The heirloom tomato salad was originally a very unique dish but it's been converted to a basic tomato, watermelon, feta snooze fest. What a bummer..... read more

Fandi Mata is a lot like the popular kids in plenty of coming of age high school movies. It's intoxicatingly beautiful with seemingly boundless potential for success. But just like when our protagonist goes after the popular kid to find a lot of their allure was facade, Fandi Mata upon closer inspection leaves much to be desired. The menu is large and rife with the Mediterranean's greatest hits - but when you offer everything we are left to wonder which dishes on the extensive menu you do well or specialize in. The food was fine, nothing to write home about. Presumably to make up for the cost of maintaining such a large menu the food is also expensive, and although this is a tapas-ish place the portions are still pretty small. Service was fine, music was a bit all over the place. We ordered the burnt cheesecake with dulce de lèche for dessert and my Argentine roommate was shocked at how little dulce de lèche it actually came with (just a few dots under some artfully arranged berries. Not enough for even a full spoonful). She looked at the plate and mentioned that in Argentina if someone in Argentina offered you something comes with dulce de lèche and this is what you received -- you would fight them. That being said, opening a new restaurant during a pandemic is no small feat, especially in hyper trendy, hyper critical, prohibitively expensive New York. The space and atmosphere is beautiful. The staff was friendly if a bit flustered. I would consider coming back in a few months once they've tightened up a bit. read more

The food was delicious and the restaurant is super cute - I wish I could give this restaurant 4 stars. I had to subtract a star from my review due to my dining experience. Unfortunately, I saw "outside" during COVID and the lack of ventilation in the outdoor dining really scared me. The staff kept shutting the doors and didn't open the windows, so it was no different from indoor dining. I would definitely come back to dine in their beautiful restaurants once COVID is over. read more

DON'T GET THE BURGER! Horrible cheeseburgers. We asked for medium rare and got well done. Bun was stale. Pretty much inedible. Mezze platter portions were tiny nothing like in the pictures seen here. Ok at best. The interior is super cute and trendy. Decent cocktails. Server was nice. The front has some funky global inspired products for sale (think Moroccan baskets) for sale. Lively music playing. The issue is the food- it was subpar. Burger was just ok- very basic burger (nothing special) that comes with standard cubed potatoes on the side. Eggs Benedict came with egg barely cooked. I like a runny egg but the eggs were so under cooked they almost slid off the top of the bread when the server placed it down. They were almost raw. Both dishes just didn't have great bread (burger buns and slice under the eggs), both didn't have any great flavors, both didn't come out super hot. The best thing I had there was the roasted red pepper dip but that didn't come with enough bread to enjoy all the dip. What I also really disliked was when we asked for the bill the waitress came over with a credit card machine and just took our card and ran it. She never told us total, never saw an itemized bill. $75 per person for brunch read more

This place has a strong vibe. I'm only giving it 4 stars because it's quite expensive here --almost $20 a drink. The food menu is also very limited but the paperdelle is tasty. This would be a good place to go for brunch too given all the lighting the space has. read more

We had reservations made months in advance for Christmas Day. My family and I went all the way to Brooklyn in the rain on Christmas Day and they weee closed. We even got confirmation emails the morning of letting us know our table was ready. They did not let us know they closed their restaurant the day of causing us to not have anywhere to go. This is poor management and horrible to do to customers expecting a place to eat after traveling to get there. read more

I've been here a few times and have had mixed experiences. The atmosphere is great and the restaurant is gorgeous. However, the service didn't quite match the quality of the restaurant. The servers were constantly trying to clear plates and water glasses (??) from the table when the dishes weren't done. The manager also came over and pressured us to leave in the middle of our meal before we had received the check because another party was arriving. We were here for less than an hour at that point. I find it very rude when servers rush to clear everything from the table when people are still eating/trying to enjoy their drinks. read more

Honestly places like this are the problem with Brooklyn. They put 50 dollar menu items on and still can't have enough staff to make an enjoyable experience. I'm service worker so this is comment on the mgmt not the servers. Made a valentines reservation, again because it's 'nice' there. They reseated us multiple times, and literally no one checked in other than giving us water when we sat down. 25 minutes went by, the table next to us asked for a new waiter, and we just left because other than the bar tenders behind the bar, no one was up there, certainly no one waiting those tables. Also low key worst live cover band I've ever heard. What was up with that lmao. My date and I are both normal people and handled pivoting on Valentine's Day dinner well, but generally a bad experience because of bad management. If you're going to bring those prices to the menu and the area, then please follow with the proper elevated experience. read more

The food was legitimately mindblowing. I will be dreaming of that mezze plate for days.
