Real original Indonesian foods with very reasonable price. Had bala-bala, empek-empek, batagor, fried flat rice noodle, and literally everything tasted exactly like how you would get them in Indonesia. The lady was also very nice. Seeing me coughing, she right away gave me a bottled water, and didn't even charge me. Will come back for sure.

This place has a lot of great to-go indonesian foods such as nasi goreng, etc. right down the block fro indonesia restaurant. You can go in and order an item like nasi ayam goreng (rice w/ fried chicken), but it is primarily for catering, and it supplies food to other restaurants, churches and private parties. Their prices arent posted anywhere and there isnt anywhere to sit down, just a glass window where you place your order. the main purpose of this buisiness is to provide food for private parties, churches or other restaurants and shops that serve indo food. you can get something yourself, but its not true-ly a restaurant.

It is buffet style, so all of the dishes are laid out on a food line and you order at the counter. I highly recommend the Nasi Padang ($14) as it was SO much food and everything was very delicious. The kale was cooked in coconut milk which was aromatic, creamy, and slightly spicy, but still retains that slightly bitter edge. The egg is coated in sambal which is definitely spicy but pairs so well with the rice. The beef was tender and fall apart and the sauce was thick and so flavorful. The chicken was also fall apart soft. The highlight of the dish was getting to eat each component with the coconut rice. The coconut rice is some of the best I've ever had!! It's hard to explain what it tastes like but it's the perfect blend of coconut, salty, sweet, and very savory. I would say it's much more traditional tasting compared to Sky Cafe (another popular Indonesian spot). They take cash/venmo/zelle (I think)! It is incredibly worth it for the price. Definitely want to support a smaller, local business!

Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Food - 5/5 Parking - Street Parking Atmosphere - The restaurant is on the smaller side with limited seating, but it feels modern and thoughtfully designed. I especially enjoyed the artwork throughout the space. Service - We had the chance to chat with one of the owners and learned they have only been open for a couple of years. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, and I truly hope they continue to see the success they deserve. What We Ordered - -Chicken satay (Very good, with a peanut sauce that isn't overly heavy or overpowering like at some places) -Beef rendang (An incredible dish. We were both impressed by how rich and flavorful it was) Final Thoughts - I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant if you are ever in the area.

Some standout menu items: the kwetiau goreng tastes just like home, especially with the lapchong--yuuummmm so good! The kwetiau siram was equally delicious. The capcay, while not exactly like what you'd get in Indonesia, is still the best I've had in the U.S. On my most recent visit, I had the nasi ayam goreng, which also one of my favorites. The sayur asam is perfectly balanced, and the ayam goreng kuning is also delicious. What I really appreciate about Djakarta Cafe is the consistency--the flavors have been great for years and that's what keeps me coming back. And the service is always wonderful too. Shoutout to Lena, who always greets us so warmly!

We've walked past here many times but have never pulled the trigger, and we are so glad we did…read moretonight! They have been here for 2 years and 1 month as of April 2026. They have a pre fix menu mostly (it changes every month), but on Saturdays, they do the giant Liwetan communal eating, which is served on a banana leaf and meant to be eaten with your hands. Let me just start by saying that we are Hardena groupies. I have almost broken my phone screen trying multiple times to get my hands on a #notpizza box during the pandemic. This was the brainchild of Chef Diana at Hardena, and it was truly one of the only bright spots from COVID. Anyway, this is Chef Diana's own restaurant (her family still owns Hardena), and while the flavors and sambal (hot sauce) are very similar to Hardena, she makes Indonesian food truly beautiful with her creativity. The plating is that of a Michelin star / James beard winning restaurant. I mean, just look at this giant dumpling that is shaped so beautifully and then really imaginatively placed inside a red cabbage leaf in a bowl. I'm used to Indonesian food being served from a warming tray in takeout boxes so this really blew my mind. They serve three different sauces (2 sambals and a sweet one). Everything was spectacular, and the dishes keep getting bigger in the 5 course pre fixe (not including dessert, but this was a very nice size). Each dish was explained to us carefully and gently delivered by Chef Diana's wife. There are only about 6 tables so reservations are limited (and you pre pay). They do have a vegan menu, but you have to let them know ahead of time or else they have to scramble (which they graciously did tonight for a walk in). They also gave my mom tea when she asked for it, even though that's not something they normally offer. The interior is super cute and well-decorated, and that pink neon sign really shines nicely through the window. I will have to try to resist temptation every time we pass this (which is often), but I'm already thinking about when we can go back! Don't sleep on Rice & Sambal!

We were seated and served right away, and the menu was easy to navigate, especially since it highlighted some of their most popular dishes. We decided to order the Pad Thai, Crispy Golden Fried Squid, and Thai Basil Fried Rice. I enjoyed all three dishes. The Pad Thai had a slight Malaysian twist to it that set it apart from other versions I've tried. The Thai Basil Fried Rice was very flavorful, with a great balance of chicken, vegetables, and rice in every bite. The Crispy Golden Fried Squid was definitely my favorite dish of the night. It packs a bit of heat, so be prepared for some spice, but the flavor was absolutely worth it. One of my friends had to down a few glasses of water, but thankfully our waiter was attentive and kept our drinks refilled throughout the meal. Overall, I would definitely come back to try more items on the menu. If you're looking for authentic Malaysian and Thai flavors in a casual setting, Banana Leaf is worth a visit.

I was WOWED by the shrimp with lady fingers (okra), seamless service (reminiscent of a well-oiled machine), and an unexpectedly large interior. --- I dined as a party of two for lunch on Sunday. When we first entered, we were shocked at just how large the interior of Banana Leaf was as compared to the exterior. It is also decorated very fun inside. We ordered the mama's chicken, shrimp with lady fingers, and homemade roti canai. Just a note that the most updated menu is online instead of the photos here. (Also rice is not included with the entrées, but needs to be ordered separately.) (1) Shrimp with Lady Fingers- I would come back for just this again and again. It was not too salty, and it was very flavorful (just the right amount of fishy), and the okra was cooked just perfectly. I am a little bias as an okra fan, but I LOVED this dish. My only issue is that the shrimp wasn't deveined. (2) Homemade Roti Canai- The roti was very flaky and had an excellent texture. I guess it's no surprise that it's the biggest thing advertised on the menu. The curry was pretty standard that came with it. It was just a little strange to me that the roti canai was completely cold when it came out. (3) Mama's Chicken- The chicken was dry for us, probably as a result of the smaller pieces being fried. Overall, it was pretty OK, but we wouldn't order this again. The service was excellent- food was quick to come out & anytime we finished a dish, needed water, or needed the check, the servers were at the table before we had to say anything. Totally streamlined!
