I had, without a doubt, the best yellow curry (with chicken) that I've ever eaten! My waistline would be in danger if Far East were within easy driving distance of where I live. The place was empty when we walked in so we got the best of service. ;-) My wife had a very good stir fry dish but she almost wished she had ordered the curry. Sweet but not overly so, brown rice which I added to the bowl made it even better. The chicken was tender and plentiful too. Another cheap place to eat good not excellent but food Thai food. I have been there probably four times since moving. The lunch specials are super nice! Sometimes I don't even want to cook because I can get lunch so cheap here at the Far East. Absolutely great little place in Olympia for Asian food. They have a special menu that gives you just the right amount of food for lunch and is very reasonably priced. The waitress was very courteous and attentive. I got the spicy garlic chicken with "spicy". The heat was good and not enough to over take the flavor of the food. Okay, so far so good with the fried rice or the Singapore fried rice I had recently. I was jones'ing some chicken fried rice and my go to Pho spot up the street sells it for like $14-15! Waay too much for fried rice, this ain't PF Changs! Anyhow, it was $9.95, good flavor and a decent amount. I can hear the chef rocking the wok in the back so its all freshly made but I gave the server some pointers on making it better. I will eat here again and try something else which I hope is good because this spot is only 5 minutes away from home.We need a decent priced Asian spot. Critique: place looks very drab and has a no frills ambiance. If they took the time to decorate a little, maybe spruced up their seating situation and just made the place more welcoming, it probably would be more frequented by customers. I was craving some thai food so I ordered from Far East. Usually I get Saigon Rendevous which is excellent but they were not open. I am extremely dissatisfied by what I ordered. There is no flavor at all! I ordered the pad thai with beef and the noodles came with barely any sauce and the meat was dry and bland. I'm so sad. read more

I can't believe this place has almost 5 stars. My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new, so we went purely based on the rating on yelp and were SO disappointed. The pad thai was PINK and bland. My tom yum soup was horrible- canned soup with frozen vegetables and canned pineapple chunks, and only a few pieces of chicken. I could barely eat it. And it wasn't even that cheap. Friends introduced us to this gem of a restaurant! The food is so fresh, healthy and delicious. Even though we were dining with food restrictions they were accommodating and we found we had options right off the menu. This isn't your typical Thai or Chinese food. The brown rice is a bonus. And the prices...SO reasonable they could be called cheap! $5.35 for lunch and the serving size was more than satisfying. I came in about 10 minutes before closing to order take out. I wanted orange chicken but she said they were out. Asked for general tso's chicken but they were out of that too. I ended up getting chicken in black bean sauce and kung pao chicken. Not impressed with either entree. The entire dish seemed boiled and the "sauce" was like water. Prices were very low. I visit Washington every year and every year I never fail to eat at Far East restaurant. It's a small mom and pop shop, run by two people! Their freshly-made, authentic asian food is paired with a nice and quiet ambiance. I strongly reccommend this restaurant. We were here on a Monday for lunch, so many restaurants are closed. My husband had the yellow curry with chicken and the sauce was rich, delicious, with a great blending of the curry with coconut milk! I though mine was going to be the best! GREAT SERVICE. All else is good- the food is good, the atmosphere is fine, the prices are good... but the smiling faces of the owners make this place special. I love their very reasonably priced rice bowls, and I can go in with two kids and my husband, be seated immediately, have my food within 10 or 15 minutes, and we can all eat our fill for under $30 (including a few spring rolls). They don't have my *favorite* of any standard dish (ie phad thai, yellow curry, fried rolls, etc.) but they are very willing to accommodate vegetarian/vegan needs, and like i said... they're just so nice. read more

We seriously love this place! It's so totally unassuming and is easily overshadowed by the fancier Thai restaurant next door. However, this place is clean, yummy and super reasonably priced.
