Everything was cooked well like many others have said and presentation was good, but the seasonings/flavors were bordering on bland. It reminded me of a more northern cuisine where flavors are not as punchy. It was good, just fairly neutral on flavors but done in an elegant way as others have mentioned. read more

We used to really enjoy FARM back when our daughter was a student at IU few years ago. It was upscale, local, unique and delicious. We were really looking forward to having a nice lunch there after walking through farmers market and art on the square yesterday. There were 4 adults and two kids, a 5 year old and an infant. Appetizer of our choice was calamari and garlic fries, and we enjoyed those very much. For main course we ordered different variety of courses, planing to share. Chicken and beef meatball soup was interesting and flavorful. Steak and eggs was a different story. The meat was gamey and unpleasant, almost as if it was old venison.Two of us tried it, and it was not edible. Pizza that we ordered was on a dry store bought crust that looked and tasted like cardboard. The worst part was the service. At no time were we checked on or offered a refill on our drinks. The waiter was annoyed when we mentioned that the meat was below our expectations. He said that he wouldn't be able to take it off our bill because a piece of it was gone. It actually was on other plates because we shared, and we did order several entrees, so it was not as if we were trying to walk out without paying a rather large bill. The concept of "customer is always right" was not known to our waiter. The restaurant was not that busy (no private parties), and there was a repair man in the bathroom that's had a changing table. We tried to figure out where to change the baby, but neither the manager nor the repair man would try to accommodate us by offering to move over for few minutes to let us access the bathroom, or to use an office. We were very disappointed with our experience this time. What a pity! We loved our memories of this place in the past, but won't be back in the future. read more

Definitely recommend Farm ! The interior is decorated in a very whimsical meets rustic way. My favorite thing were the lights above the bar. The bar - by the way - is superiorly stocked ! We were amazed by the number of bourbons on the drink menu. We started off with drinks - I asked for a sweet wine and my partner got a cider. Both drinks were exactly to our liking. The bartender said it was the only sweet wine he had and he delivered ! The cider my partner got was pretty good. Less alcoholic than the stella artois he gets usually - which means less fumey. It also wasn't tart like other ciders can be. For our food - we both really enjoyed the fries. We swapped out the side that comes with our burgers and I'm glad we did. The regular fries were crisp and very flavorful ! They may even be my new favorite fry in Bloomington. I got a bison burger, and it was delicious. Cooked to perfection, medium well. The meat was super soft and nearly melted in my mouth. It had a garlicy after taste that was quiet wonderful. My partner got the beef burger and said it was quite dry. He wasn't a fan of the bacon jam on it and said it tasted like baked beans. I really liked the bacon jam and I didn't get that from it at all. read more

I was in Bloomington again for sports and the internet didn't let me down this time! We stumbled upon Farm and were excited to get in at brunch time on a Sunday. The gluten free offerings were slim but that didn't equal disappointment. We had the French toast casserole, avocado toast and poutine plus a side of bacon. The restaurant has quite the choice of decorations so it's certainly not boring. Food was great. Service was good. I will definitely be back. read more

One of my very favorite places in Bloomington!! Their Garlic Fries are my favorite fries EVER. Topped with parmesan, garlic, parsley, chili flakes and lemon zest - the flavors just explode. You don't even need the garlic aioli that comes with them but it's a nice kick and a change from ketchup. Five stars to the fries! The rest of the food is great too. I had the Btown Breakfast and appreciate that the bacon was crispy- I don't like limp bacon and they got it spot on and just the way I like it. My mom had the BLT and said it was really good and enjoyed their take on the potato salad. Definitely recommend as a brunch spot or just get an order of those fries to go. read more

This was our first Parents Weekend, and third trip to Bloomington, so naturally we've been trying to check out all the local restaurants. Farm Bloomington has been on our radar so we went there on Saturday. We weren't surprised that there was a wait to get in, especially with it being game day. It was about a 30 minute wait to get in, no big deal. However, inside only about half the tables had been seated, so we knew right away they were likely understaffed. We weren't in a rush, and tried to be patient. After about 15 minutes, we finally had to ask for a server because no one had come to our table yet. After putting in our order, we waited almost an hour and a half to get our food. That was definitely longer than we expected. The server never checked on us or gave us an update. When our food arrived, it was apparent that many of our plates had been sitting under heat lamps for a long time... everything on my plate had a dried crust on top, yet the potatoes were raw on everyone's plate. One person had bacon that looked perfectly cooked, another had bacon that looked like it had barely been cooked, and one had bacon that was so overcooked there was literally no moisture left in it and looked like charcoal. Our server was mildly apologetic, but really did nothing to make us feel better about the situation. Hopefully this place will be better prepared for future busy weekends, but I'd suggest finding somewhere else. Uptown is next door, very popular, great food, and fully staffed... you might consider going there instead. read more

what a wonderful spot in bloomington. I knew as soon as we walked in, this was my type of place. Bourbon lining the walls, what more would one possibly want? The bartender, cannot remember his name, but its on the wall.. was super knowledgeable, very friendly and took great care of our group of 5 or 6. We left a bit buzzed by the end of dinner.. so mission accomplished! the food.. i asked the bartender to bring me his favorite hamburger since the menu had 2. also told him i enjoyed bacon. out rolled a wonderful burger with blue cheese, bacon and a ton of other flavors. Delicious... Now.. the important things. I had an old fitz 9 year that i had been wanting to try. it was great. Midwinters night dram.. not recent edition prior years. Always nice to revisit these as they are always great pours! 1792 high rye... thats right the elusive high rye. Very delicious pour and well priced! All this.. and my bill was around $100, was a reasonable value. The best thing... as the bar started to get full and we get more toward the scale of being buzzed... the bartender turned on Top Gun. We had a fantastic experience here from beginning to end. Food, drinks, service and atmosphere were all on point. The menu is somewhat limited, as others have said, but everything we tried was delicious. I am also happy to report the bartender knew how to make a proper Manhattan. The garlic fries are a must. I am surprised to see all of the negative reviews about Farm Bloomington. This is a higher end restaurant right on Kirkwood with a great competitor right next to it. The food and cocktails have always been great. The Farm is specifically farm to table and they try to get local ingredients for their menu. The bar staff makes great cocktails that are well crafted and the menu and the drinks rotate seasonally with inspired dishes based on the time of year. It's interesting that people think taking reservations for graduation is bazaar so early into the school year. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO people and if you don't get a reservation here you go next door to uptown. Those are the two higher end spots on Kirkwood that have a large dining area. They are very allergy accommodating and they are almost always busy so walk in tell them your reservation, don't crowd the restaurant and enjoy the wonderful food created with fresh local ingredients and well crafted drinks. read more

The Farm supposedly have a brunch menu . We ate there on Friday. I ordered chicken sandwich and was served on a very small hamburger buns! The so called coleslaw was added inside the buns which made the bread soggy! The so called potato salad was merely few pieces of cubes potatoes! I was expecting a sandwich served either on rye bread or sourdough bread not hamburger buns !!! Overpriced and bloody kitchen staff don't know a thing about preparing a decent chicken sandwich. A cafeteria sandwiches are even better! Don't waste your hard earned money dining out at The Farm !!! And lastly, it's overpriced!!! read more

Sooo.... Three amazing things, two totally gross things. I had the molé flat bread. It was a totally bizarre combination of things, and I ordered it just because -- what the hell. And it was fantastic. Really really good and interesting. I also ordered a margarita. It was disgusting. A nice restaurant should not be making margaritas with a bottle of 'Margarita Mix'. Totally gross. Margaritas are made with fresh limes, guys. I traded it out for a Bloody Mary, which was fantastic. How these two drinks can exist in the same restaurant is beyond me. Mom ordered a steak with au gratin potatoes. The steak literally tasted rancid. We passed it around to all three of us and we all agreed -- trying to figure out if it was bad, or just some spice or sauce that made it taste bad. We decided it was just gross either way, and sent it back. But the potatoes were excellent. I forget what my sister had, but it was fine. So, the rating is... complicated. The food was amazing and gross. The drinks were amazing and gross. The one common theme is that it was quite expensive, which drives the overall value and thus the rating, down from 3 to 2 stars. It has so much potential, but just really fell short on quality. The staff was great through. read more

In fairness to Farm, I should note that since my negative review in February 2023, we've been back several times. Each visit has been excellent. I am convinced our bad experience was an aberration. We enjoyed our eclipse themed brunch this last weekend and had such great interactions with the staff. We did think the wait for our food was very long, but this could be due to IU having a parents' weekend and the upcoming eclipse. Our food did taste very good, but we felt the portion size was too small and wait time too long for the price point. I would like to go back at a less crowded time to try their pizza (we were told the pizza oven caught on fire that week so they weren't serving pizzas or sandwiches). read more

Looking for a place near my son's apartment at IU where I could get some unique vegan food and came across this place. Definitely not a steak place.!!!!!!! I'd give this place negative stars for food. I had the special.... Prime rib. Hard as a rubber. Absolutely the worst steak I've ever had. I returned it and they didn't crdet it off the bill and no one came to talk to me about it. I'll.post photos of it. The other couples in our group said they food was at best ok. There of us didn't care for the food at all. I will say, the farm is definitely not your grandma's cooking from the farm. Grabbed dinner on a Friday evening and sat outdoors. They had live music playing next door so that was a great addition. The service was prompt and pleasant. Started off with a French 75 and then moved on to a Negroni. I ordered the BLT on gluten free bread. The bacon was DELICIOUS and had a bit of a sweet taste. My wife and I want to Farm Bloomington this evening. We didn't have reservations and it was busy but we were seated without much of a wait. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The cocktails were excellent. As an appetizer my wife ordered the garlic fries to share. She usually never orders fries but she said the description on the menu looked good. The portion size was huge and the sauce that came on the side was excellent. For a main course I got the bison burger and it was very good. I know earlier reviews have complained about the service and wait times for food. We didn't experience that at all and it was a busy night. Fun ambience, great service and good food. read more

Strangest experience. Asked for a table( outside if possible) for one. Two smiling young girls said ok, then started whispering. Finally a gentleman came over and started whispering with them. Finally, I asked, " is there a problem?" His response is what was so strange-" We have several large groups and I don't k ow if the kitchen can handle any more." So, I asked if I could go to the bar. Response, "yes." Now folks, it was NOT crowded. But I went to the bar, ordered a glass of wine and then hummus and veggies ( I didn't think that would burden the kitchen) and had a delightful experience with the bartender, who made me feel welcome. The craft cocktail menu is extensive. I had two amazing Gin drinks. They were well balanced and had great flavor. The Brussels sprouts were definitely large enough to share and very tasty.
