I walked in this place with some badly unfounded misconceptions. Boy, was I WRONG! So what if the inside reminds you of a fast food version of Marie Callender's....it's still sparkling clean and comfortable here. Since I came too early for their boldly-claimed Hamburgers - I gave their Denver Omelette an honest try. The first thing that grabbed my attention, was the quick service and freshness of my breakfast. Unlike many Diner-type establishments that use processed "eggs" straight from a carton, Farmer Boys uses dairy-fresh, Grade AA eggs. I know it's pretty hard to screw up breakfast...but my meal just screamed of flavor and freshness. It tasted like every ingredient came directly from the field...to my table. Best of all - it was so non-greasy... you would think they used straight convection heat to cook it! Got my coffee free for Yelp check-in! Bonus! Offered water as well. Wow! Finally, someplace in the desert gets it! No matter the beverage, you still need water here. Dining area spotlessly clean, coffee refilled promptly, no less than four times. Every bite of my breakfast burrito was perfection. Hot and fresh. No dry eggs. Tortilla soft & moist. No charred hash browns, more than enough bacon. Even had fresh orange slice for garnish. -0- complaints here. I know higher end establishments that should take a page (or more) out of this book!! Great customer service and food comes out super fast! I was like WHOA! Definitely rang the bell after I left. Came here while I was out in Indio for Coachella, and needed a quick breakfast spot. Breakfast options all over the menu, and lunch! and SHAKES. Free Coffee with yelp check in :) Ordered the California Omelet, which comes with hash browns and toast. Food literally came out as soon I sat down. Made me question it for a second but was so hungry that the thought quickly dispersed. About 5 different servers came to our table asking us every few minutes if we needed anything and always filling up our water or taking away dirty plates. My friends were very satisfied with the customer service as well and urged me to include it in the review. The omelet was decent, not the best I've had but pretty darn good for fast food and it was great to be in and out of there within 30 minutes or less. It was my first time seeing a Farmer Boy and for some reason I really wanted to try it. Sooo glad I did. The food was surprisingly good despite the iffy service. When I realized the drive thru was sloooow, I wanted to back up and leave but another car pulled up right behind me... leaving me stuck without option to leave. It definitely took quite some time, 5 songs and several snaps later, I got my food. Or so I thought. The server forgot to hand my drink to me and after I got my drink, I realized she didn't give me my chili cheese fries. My chili cheese fries!!! What. Anyways I get home and get ready to devour my meal, after taking a pic of it of course. I had the avocado bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and onion rings. The burger was falling apart when I opened it, which made me a bit sad bc messy food doesn't make for nice photos hah. But they were so delicious I didn't care about the sloppy construction or the long wait. The food is worth the wait if you're in the area. It isn't as cheap as most fast food joints, but they claim to use fresh ingredients. You'll definitely spend more than Mickey D's or Wendy's, but food tastes a lot better. I had a breakfast sandwich that was decent there so I went back another day for lunch and for the fish and chips. It was absolutely terrible. The fish just looked gnarly I had one bit and threw it out. I got it with the onion rings and they were a poor excuse for onion rings. They have a drive thru which I used and it took so long to make I sat there waiting for like 15 minutes. I don't recommend this place. read more

I first dined at Farmer Boys in Redlands, CA. It was a different spin on fast food, but at the end I enjoyed it because the overall food quality was better in my opinion. I have only dined at the Indiio site three times due to access not being easy, and the parking lot has been full at other times. My most recent visit was not good, and I found how they handled my situation unacceptable. I am in the Customer Service business. We all have human moments of lapses or oversights, but it's how you respond to those moments that distinguishes you. This past Tuesday's lunch hour was busy which is the norm for this restaurant. I waited my turn and ordered a Cobb salad which is not the norm for this place. It's what happened afterwards that merits one star. I was in a rush. So I studied their turnaround of the orders. I studied whom was already there, and whom was behind me so I could gauge how they were running on delivering their orders. They were busy so I knew I needed to be patient based on their turn around. One of the things the expediters do here is that they will take requests from diners whom have already been served their food. So I saw this with additional requests for fries, and in one case, a new order from someone whom had already been seated and served. These requests seem to be prioritized. Where it went wrong is when people whom arrived after me were starting to be served. After the third party had been served after my arrival I made a decision I would go up to the cashier to find out why (Two of the groups were of four people or more.) I still had not been served my order. What I learned is that the cooking staff had mishandled my order. Instead of having the order in front of them by the grill, they had it behind them where the salads are made. So all three cooks due to the pace of the business were immersed with grill orders only. Not one bothered to look over and see if there was a salad order pending in the 20 minutes I had been there waiting. So what happened after it was brought to their attention? Nothing. All three went right back to the grill orders. Not one got on fulfilling my order after it was brought to their attention. I knew my order was going to take more time. The counter people didn't make or offer any amends. No your meal is comped, no you can have a discount or free meal next time, nothing. Not even an apology of any type either. So I canceled my order. Will I go back? Why? Parking is not easy. Access is not easy. There are other restaurants in the area that match their same menu items, too, without the issues I just mentioned. I just wanted the Farmers Boy experience over the other local chains. I made a mistake. read more

I wasn't sure if this was a fast food place or if it was a diner. Either way the food was alright. I love the farm-feeling decor. This place really reminds me of a mock-southern comfort food establishment. I wasn't too comforted because it was after the movies at 10 dinner and I was just not feeling the food too much. It's better than Denny's I guess since Denny's food kind of leaves me with a greasy dwell in my stomach. Well this place was a little too greasy to my liking too. I do recommend their gravy. Very nicely decorated and the staff was very helpful! I ordered the fish and chip dinner. It came with chicken noodle soup. The broth had good flavor. The big fat noodles were bland and did not absorb the flavor from the broth. There was hardly any chicken in it. This was not very good soup. I prefer Campbell's. The french fries were the standard small fast food fries and good. The fried fish was pretty good. Nicely seasoned and crunchy batter. The fish might have been cod. There was one onion ring. The piece of onion was a bit thicker than I like and the batter was a bit bland and lacking in crunch. Red Robin is a better place to go for onion rings. I didn't try the bread as it had some garlic on it and I don't like garlic. You get a ton of food for $8.99. Overall this place is pretty good. read more

I recommend sticking to the lunch portions, or maybe it's because they were kid meals, but the little farmer breakfasts with your choice of French toast or Hotcakes takes the plate and leaves a sticky, unsettling feeling in your stomach after you're through. Not to say that Farmer Boys overall is bad. I mean, it's fast food, what do you expect? Imagine a kids breakfast meal with sausage, one egg, and either French toast or hotcakes. Now when you're on the go, you make a fancy sandwich out of it. Sounds like a pitch for an upcoming fast food meal idea. HOWEVER, after you bite through the French toast with the very little egg you get plus a larger butter to French toast ratio that makes its crater into the food, you get a bite reminiscent of a sponge soaking in butter, and the first thing your eyes catch after pulling back from that bite are the juices receding into the sausage and French toast after they have been clasped by the jaws of a hungry man. Now repeat the steps until you think you can finish your breakfast. AGAIN, this is not to say Farmer Boys is not pleasing in general, but if you see an affordable kids breakfast meal, please choose something else before your stomach regrets it. read more
